You can expand this to Player vs Player interactions in general. Even if not PK'ing, the minigames which used to pit teams of players against each other in direct competition. I can think of Castle Wars, Stealing Creation, Soul Wars. It's my belief that PvP in video gaming, much like sport in real life, is a form of recreation which enhances our communities, makes them stronger and makes us more unified. Pretty much every Xbox 360/PS3 has some kind of multiplayer matchmaking system, because they're in such high demand. Yet, unfortunately, this is one area where RuneScape has undoubtedly worsened since 2007. Castle Wars is now mostly AFK'd/botted for the sake of a trimmed cape. SC is done 'efficiently' to make tools, with players who dare to attack other players kicked and banned. No one plays Soul Wars now. Even cooperative minigames like Pest Control are botted en masse, or else dead completely in the case of Barbarian Assault, spare those players going for the aforementioned cape. Dungeoneering is a cooperative minigame in all but name, it's not even worthwhile doing as a 5:5 any more because everyone can get by solo'ing. Most bosses which used to require a team can now be done solo. The one thing that bothers me most about EoCscape, despite preferring it much more over 07scape, is the loneliness. Particularly the way that, when you grind a skill up, you're almost always on your own, and even when you're not, you and everyone else is so focused on wasting time that most people can't stop to chat. I remember in 2007 I used to go the Games Room and play draughts to unwind. There was only ever a few people, but I met some great people there. Even that's unthinkable now.

[/hide]Agreed. I'd like a piece of content that is extremely difficult to complete even for a completely maxed player in the best gear available at the time of release. Some real end game content, like Nex was on release. When you compare KK to Nex on release, KK is nothing. Something that requires skill even if you have the best stats in the game. Right now, there are very few, if any, pieces of equipment that are remotely difficult to obtain, other than extremely rare items (where it's about money not stats or skill) Give me something in EoCscape that gives me the same feeling of achievement that getting 500 total does on 07scape. Right now there's nothing. How long have you played the game? I mean, how many days are there on your Adventurer's Log? What I'm saying is, you can't grind all your skills up to max, get the best armour/weapons in the game, do each boss enough times to learn their attacks and specials inside-out, and then still expect things to be a challenge for you any more. If they made it so that bosses were an equal to challenge to you, they'd be near impossible to mid-to-high level players. The only way of solving that problem is by introducing things which require player skill in addition to the skill levels of the character in-game, except when they did that with Dungeoneering, people pissed and whinged about it because it wasn't a "skill" any more. Either way, Jagex get blasted.

Yeah, and the consequence of that is that there are doogle leaf scams, and the fact that he can switch out his noted stack of what you think might be one thing for something else in the process of trading, isn't there? Have one of each grimy noted herb you're buying (e.g., ranarr) in your inventory. Fill the rest with junk. There's no way the other player can trade you anything but the noted herbs of choice... Is an example of emergent gameplay as a counter to the originally attempted scam. Doesn't change the fact it's a scam in the first place. Trading under false pretenses is scamming; whether the other person is educated, thick or otherwise is irrelevant. It means they're less likely to fall for the scam but it's still scamming.

I wouldn't just say "I don't want to date you". I'd just let it be known quite obviously through my body language that, while I'm happy to be friendly, I don't reciprocate her flirting. ;)

I noticed the irony, too. "Do as I say, not as I do", I guess. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't people on 07scape ask for Unids to be returned to the game instead of grimy herbs? There's only one possible explanation for people wanting that back into the game, and it has nothing to do with EoC or the state of the live game. So let's stop with the finger pointing before this thread turns into a point tallying contest.

I agree completely that people aren't forced into gambling and really, it's their own responsibility for accepting that risk. It's not as simple as that, though. The problems come with its inherent links to RWT and scamming. The latter especially is something Jagex can fix relatively easily by providing in game mechanisms which guarantee the stake on each side and the odds on the bet itself, and I am guessing that's really what they refer to when they say "safe gambling". RWT is a far greater problem which I won't have the arrogance to suggest I understand completely. There's a lot of information about RWT which is quite hazy in my opinion.

Better to let her down now rather than later, after she's honestly started to believe a relationship in on the cards. If you're not interested, you're probably going to hurt her feelings either way. If you do it sooner, it'll hurt a lot less. If you want to be liked by someone regardless of your choices, get a dog. Human aren't as gullible.

I don't see how there's any split in the RS community. The people going around saying "live RS sucks" or "07scape should be closed down" aren't generally worth the time of day. Their attitude is self-evident of the fact they're not willing to cooperate as part of a wider RS community in the first place. Which begs the question: What can you honestly hope to achieve by reaching out to them? I'm in a friend chat where some people play 07scape, and some people play live RS. Some people mix both, for example, they play 07scape mainly and then log on to live RS for PoP. We get along fine and we still talk to each other. There's really no issue here apart from those deliberately making it one. Friend chat is already cross-game of course, but Clan chat could be made cross-game. I don't think anyone with common sense would suggest putting that feature into 07scape (although not clans themselves) would detract from its old school appeal. The chat features of both FC and CC are congruous with each other and it's not really fair that those who were using CCs before the 07scape relaunch are hampered while those using FCs can carry on as normal.

Isn't it official policy to only act as a P mod when it's absolutely necessary, though? Gold selling is clearly a necessary use of mod powers. Clamping down on H/C games... much more subjective. I'd be surprised if P mods are spending their time on gamblers unless it's clearly RWT, chat box abuse, or scamming.

I'm not American but... I'm well used to being the smallest person in the room anyway, amongst boys and girls. My size has only ever become a practical issue when you're in a nightclub or a house party with loud music, the kind where you really need to press up against someone's ear just so they have a chance to hear what you're saying (I'm not a huge fan of those kinds of parties but, you still get dragged to them every now and then). Obviously if you're over half a foot shorter than they are, that becomes a bit of an issue. But then the reverse is also true; smaller girls would have the same issue with taller guys, so it balances out. If you're in a quieter room though, you should be speaking clearly enough to be heard regardless of how small/tall you are. So instead of mumbling under your breath, so that only people dead close can hear, speaking up and talking to people's faces. That just comes with confidence, which is an attractive quality to have anyway. But size isn't an issue for me. If anything it makes me more noticeable in a room full of strangers. That and my hair, obviously.

Agreed, to react so obnoxiously to the decision won't change things and it just makes you look like you were deserving of the punishment in the first place. I'm not supporting him necessarily, I'm just saying it's a poor excuse for Jagex. If you're too lazy to update the rules page and give people fair warning, but you're not too lazy to start muting people, there's a problem there. It's not even about democracy vs totalitarianism. It's just basic respect really. If you want someone to stop behaving in a certain way, tell them and give them the opportunity to stop doing it first, and if they still don't comply, feel free to escalate your punishments.

I'm pretty sure that getting muted on 4 different account for saying the same thing would be clear proof that it's against the rule. Like a norm. So if a policeman arrests me tomorrow under a law which doesn't exist, and the magistrate asks for evidence I've broken this law, the police say "...Well obviously the fact we've arrested him four times proves he did it!" No.

I'm 5'0" and, truth is, I'm not that attracted to taller girls. All of my girlfriends in the past have been around 5'6" or smaller. The body language is very awkward to sort out if they're much taller than that, so I don't consider it much of an issue, really. One thing I'm slowly learning in life is that issues are only really issues if you perceive them as issues. You have no idea whether your chances of finding a girlfriend are lessened by the fact you're shorter than the average male height, to what they would have been anyway had you grown to the average height. You presume your chances or worsened because you perceive yourself as no longer being part of the "norm". Are we honestly to believe that basing your perceptions of how attractive you are to other women, on such a crummy base of evidence, really the best way to go about this topic?

I managed Kree with far inferior stats and combat potential to your own, using abilities without momentum and had no problem whatsoever. Perhaps you should reflect on your own performance first, and in future not use combo abilities which, tactically speaking, amount to a "stab in the dark" since you don't know what attacks are coming your way, and therefore can't possibly defend yourself if the worst happens.
