They have drive-thru polling stations in London? This North-South divide gets wider by the day. Happy Birthday Maddy. Get very drunk. :^_^:
  2. 9th January, 2013 - Relationship advice log When attempting to flirt, do NOT ask a girl whether they're going to a strip club later. Should you ignore this advice, and you have been promptly ignored by said girl, do NOT ask whether they would like to go the strip club after you've taken them for some chicken wings in a tacky chain restaurant. 3. If I'm granted that I don't have to give a [bleep] about how "the community" responds: * Remove the 5K CW game requirement from the trimmed Completionist Cape, without substitute. The move has not increased altruistic attempts at participation, has lead to "loafing" and is, frankly, an arbitrary achievement which is meaningless in nature. It therefore has no further place. * Change the professional CW cape requirement from 5K games played to 2K wins. Although CW is a team game, and the role of individuals is therefore less, individual actions still make an impact. 2K wins is a more meaningful achievement than 5K games played, especially if we assume most of the 5K games are lost. For clarity, I'd define this as two thousand wins, not four thousand tickets, so as not to discourage players from claiming the rewards they've rightfully earned. * Remove skillcapes from the game. I'm a firm believer that, when they were released, the general ethos of the community changed from "We'll get our levels as high as we find reasonable" to "We must persevere and get 99 in all skills at all costs, even 'real life' commitments". This is reflected in the number of 'maxed' accounts now compared to back then. This is no way for a game in the 21st Century to be played, even by MMORPG standards, which tend to abuse Skinner's Box mechanisms more than any other gaming genre. There's a whole load of other ideas which I won't post here because I haven't thought them through properly.

I'm really sorry to hear about that. That must have been a pretty distressing situation to deal with. I'm a Halo player, I've never touched CoD in my life and never want to, but I can appreciate good tactical awareness and flanking moves when I see them. That's the real reason you only got 7 deaths. Well played.
  5. Which is about as much as WoW could achieve with its Armoury app. Not actually playing, but checking logs and planning future trips. That said, such an app wouldn't boost RuneScape's popularity, because it would be specifically aimed at people who were already playing the game.
  6. Let's first allow them the chance to show how Runecrafting will be incorporated as the mage armour crafting skill. I don't really feel we have enough examples of that to go off. Passing judgement on it before that point is folly.
  7. RuneScape doesn't translate well as a mobile phone game (I mean as a concept, not coding), if that's what you're driving at. I can only think that's what you are driving at, apart from home consoles. There's a reason Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja are so popular, and it's because they're explicitly designed not to be played for extended periods of time, or require any significant understanding to play. Classic mode on Fruit Ninja has a two-minute timer, one game of Angry Birds takes about sixty seconds (if that). Mobile phone games are invariably designed as a succession of quick, simple plays per session, which typically tends to be short. All of this is in complete contrast to how RuneScape operates, where it takes several hours, let alone seconds, to gain a single level. In its current form--and there's no reason for that to change--RuneScape is completely incompatible as a mobile phone game.
  8. Tans is ginger too? Well this is awkward... or were you referring to me?
  9. Even so, the scale of difficulty between obtaining level 70 armour and level 80 isn't reflected. If Nex armour was truly end-game material, i.e. level 99, we would all be singing from the same hymn sheet, but we're only talking ten levels here. I could be really flippant and include Barrows into the mix of level 70 armour, and Barrows being as easily obtainable as it is (everyone has multiple Barrows sets, a very small minority have Nex, let's not beat about the bush) would make that gulf even larger. But we're only talking 70 -> 80 there. There was a fundamental flaw in releasing Nex as end-game content, and only having her drop what would transpire to be t80 armour. If they weren't dragging the game out as much as they are, and released Nex at t99, there wouldn't be an issue. Now they look set to repeat that mistake with KK being PvM end-game at t90.
  10. Very useful, but the bonecrusher/herblore stats seem to be massively out. 750K herblore exp/hr from herbicide? 1M from bonecrusher? In addition, given that two years of the data was gathered before EoC was released, how relevant is the model post-EoC?
  11. There's something I find very nauseating about reducing something as fundamentally creative as music to XP rates and training methods just like the rest of RuneScape... :?
  12. They're over-doing this a bit. At least wait a year or two between releases. Imagine how much anticipation there will be for Pikmin 3 because it's been nine years since 2 was released.
  13. He's never kissed a girl before, yet you expect him to understand the finer points of erogenously touching a woman's hair/elbows/whatever? So yes, I call it 'over-complicated'.

    Polymerisation too! :D (of alkenes)
  15. I only said ask because she's already said 'No' once but if she's giving off as much indication as you say, then yeah don't bother. Just do it if it feels right. Communication is two-thirds body language, so they say. ;)
  16. Speaking of bots: does it speak volumes that, of all the issues in the game that need fixing, they felt this was the most pressing concern? Glossing over the very real and practical difficulties, choosing to focus on this instead because it doesn't fit in with their "vision" of what MH should look like?
  17. ...aren't you over-complicating things? It's his first kiss, not a romantic epic. :-|
  18. Maybe prompt the question when you're alone and saying goodbye to each other one night. Worst she can do is say 'No', and if she lets you, kiss, and you've both got the whole night to get over the shock. It won't be perfect, so don't expect it to be.
  19. Justin Bieber appears to be smoking pot in party pictures
  20. Bit heavy if you're after a one-nighter! "So sorry your wife died... let's go back to your place?"
  21. Add to that the irony of the Kalphite King update: "We're releasing a brand new boss monster into the game. It will drop level 90 equipment, but don't despair because lower equipment, let's say level 80, will do the job just fine. Oh, by the way, those monsters in the God Wars Dungeon that drop level 80 and level 70 gear? We're changing them, so you'll be needing level 80 and level 70 gear to do those respectively." It's totally inconsistent, and it's exactly those inconsistencies which lead to pre-EoC combat being the crock of excrement it was.
  22. Food prices won't increase by much either. The fundamental problem with food prices has been that people have to cook hundreds of thousands of fish to get the maximum cooking level. Imagine that on a scale of thousands of RuneScape players simultaneously training cooking, and you have a constant reservoir consisting of millions of cooked fish whose XP value has been totally depleted and therefore royally dumped on the Grand Exchange ready for whoever makes the highest price. Their role in healing has never been much of a factor.
  23. Doesn't the increased critical hit chance for claws make it better than dual wield CLS? If so, what was the point in EoC, which in general terms was an attempt to make DPS uniform across a whole tier? The fact dragon claws are more expensive is an irrelevance, certain weapons have always cost more than their same-leveled counterparts. You can't make an update because you feel sorry for dragon claw owners who lost a lot of money. That's not rational decision making at all.
  24. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Congrats on reaching halfway. Have you thought about what comes after 99 Agility?
