"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
You seem to have a very natural ability to reflect on your experiences and find key concepts, which is a rare quality these days, except you fail to do one thing at the end. What are you going to do, so those mistakes are not repeated? That's where I would focus if I were you. Would you be more assertive to that girl's ex-boyfriend? After all, he's exactly that: Her ex-boyfriend. But that's your own choice; it's not about identifying that you screwed up, and it's about identifying why and what you need to do so you don't mess up again. For what it's worth, you're probably not going to meet the love of your life on a drunken night in a back alley nightclub/house party, but that doesn't turn "making out" on such occasions into an inherently bad idea. That's exactly the reason so many people go to such places. ;)

3-Jan-2013 - God Statues: Construction D&D
Yeah, buried away at the end with no images and only a paragraph's worth of description. In December's BTS, even Solomon's store got more of a build up than this update. It was barely noteworthy last month with the TzHaar quest and PoP, and is even less so in the January schedule with Kalphite King and the new Kharidian task set. There was nothing in the way Jagex built up God Statues to make anyone think it was ever going to be anything more than a very pedestrian, regular update.

3-Jan-2013 - God Statues: Construction D&D
To be fair, God Statues only received a passing mention in the January BTS, and the BTS video itself was blatantly used as filler news for the Christmas/NYE holidays. It was never going to be the most radical or game changing of updates.

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
That's exactly how it works, actually. He initially becomes quiet, lonely and reclusive afterwards (much like he had been during his childhood before meeting Ellie), obstinately refusing to sell his increasingly-neglected home to property developers, or accept a place offered to him at a retirement home. To be fair to Y Guy, professional counseling services which focus on CBT, which me and my siblings received after our mother died during our childhood, encourage people to firstly accept that death is an inevitable, natural occurrence and not one that's necessarily in our control, and secondly to focus on the happy life the person lived rather than the life they no longer will. We were encouraged to write, draw and talk about fond memories and to literally store them in a box, the psychological metaphor obviously being to 'store it in the back of your mind' as you slowly come to terms with grief. So the emphasis is, over a long-term basis, starting to see something like that scene as a "good life lived", as Y said, but the initial reaction to seeing that for most people would be one of overwhelming sadness and helplessness. I won't ruin the film for those who haven't seen it but it could be said the rest of the movie is Carl basically going through that grieving process. It's quite impressive how they manage to discuss a plot which requires that level of maturity to understand fully, but they do it in a cartoon-ish way that children can still find funny and connect with. That was my lasting impression anyway.

She discovers she can't conceive and dies at the end, just as he's about to fulfill her lifelong ambition, but you don't see how that's depressing? :?

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
It's a good start, and if it gets you at least talking to people, then it's definitely a positive thing to do. Make sure you always remember that it's with the aim of building enough confidence so you can establish your own, independent social life, though. When you do go out, try and put yourself in lots of social situations where he's not there, for example, he's gone off to get some drinks or something--use that as a chance to talk to the people around you on your own, even if it's only to say "Hi, I'm Tim."

This scene from the Disney/Pixar film Up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh7kVYYBNyk I watched it for the first time over New Year. I started getting tearful at the bit with the baby and it all went downhill from there.

Behind the Scenes: January 2013
How do you work that one out? If all the new dual wield items are roughly similar to each other, I'm not seeing the unfairness of it. Lack of 2h weapons, or weapons from other classes, doesn't make it inherently unfair.

Completed... a sword? As in perfection? Yeah, a couple of times from a couple daily challenges. If you're doing iron though, I reckon I've got a higher smithing level which improves the odds when you hard hit. :)- "I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
There's about a thousand and one things I'd put before whether or not they had a tattoo. Unless it really was a hideous tattoo.- Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
This post is epic.- Armed With A Sandwich
It's probably better to have lots of numbers one or two figures out, than have one or two numbers massively out (like the numbers at the tip of the sword, and the bottom left number). That's my experience anyway, and it's why I do the tip first, and once I'm +/-1 to the number needed, I move on to the next number. ;) Great blog post, though, really funny. :D- Today...

Yeah, even if the Bengals get past the Texans, you can't argue against Denver winning in the divisional round.- what was your first job ! ?
If you say an average person sleeps eight hours a day (which presumably, Solemnis almost certainly did not) then there's only 112 hours in the week left. To use 95 of those hours at work? Ouch.- The American Football thread
There's a lot of smack-talking from fans of the Patriots about the Broncos' chances of reaching the Super Bowl, but if there's one dark horse I really wouldn't mind putting a small amount on, it's the Bengals. They're a form team going into this series (unlike the Texans or the Ravens)--won three games straight including a hard-fought, do-or-die victory over a team with the best ranked defence in the whole NFL. Yes, Big Ben threw the game away at the end, but the Bengals defence had to make big plays in the first instance. Maybe we can't read too much into the Ravens result because neither team had anything to play for and a few starters were rested. I don't think it's a given that the Texans will win this weekend at all.- Tans - maxed [BPL IS BACK]

End of the year, so it's time for end of year reviews. Nintendo failed to feature at all in Eurogamer Reader's Top 50 Games of 2012. It is the first time this has happened in the site's Reader Top 50 history. That's a list based on comments by readers, players and gamers by the way, so it's not like anyone can claim the staff are sucking up to the Xbox and PS. 41 of the games were published by third parties, and 32 were sequels or re-released games (like XCOM:EU for example). WoW:MoP came in at a lowly #47. It's not difficult to see where the future of mainstream gaming lies. I know it's about video gaming but it doesn't deserve a thread of its own.- 2013 New Year Resolutions
I need to change my eating behaviour. My day-to-day schedule has changed completely in the past twelve months, and for various reasons I'm finding it difficult sticking to three large meals per day, so I'm hopefully having more smaller meals instead. Instead of having cereal and toast for breakfast, just have a smaller bowl of cereal and an apple between then and lunchtime. Aiming to lose three pounds per month over the course of the whole year, which would return me to a healthy weight, about 23 kg/m2.- Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
Yes, without doubt.- 11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
Yeah, you don't really need to 'wake up' to go to the toilet, whereas you definitely do to play RuneScape. If it's not affecting how much sleep you're getting overall, and you don't "feel" tired when you wake in the morning, then by all means go for it, if it means that much to you. It's not a natural circadian rhythm, though, so I wouldn't recommend it to other people.- Today...
