Increase in certain Random events?
I've never had a maze and then I've gotten around five of them within the last five weeks. Anyone want to do some statistical hypothesis testing? Doesn't seem like chance variation to me.

real-life game interuptions
I'm sure that all RuneScapers have had this happen. You're doing something on RS, when your mom calls you downstairs to help her with some trivial things. In bad times, you might be in a situation that requires constant input, such as PKing or in a middle of a trade. And some RuneScapers' parents (or siblings) are probably inpatient - if you wait a few extra seconds, they'll get upset. What do you do? Personally, the main thing is that it depends on how urgent it is. If my mother just wants to show me something, I'll tell her to wait a minute or two. If it's something very urgent, such as a bad injury, then I'd try to log out and hope for the best. After all, real-life matters are more important than in-game items. However, suppose that you're in one of the more urgent situations. What would you do in these scenarios? 1. You're fighting Jad 2. You're fighting a boss monster (KBD, KQ, etc) 3. You're in the middle of a clan war 4. You're casually training at dragons 5. Trust trade - someone gave you raw materials to turn into the finished product Well, I've never done 1, 2, or 3, but here's what I'd do: 1. Try to log out (if I do, will I have to start over?). If that's the case, I'll put on mage protect and hope for the best, LOL. 2. For Chaos Elemental - run to a safe place and log out. For other monsters, if I'm soloing, I'd teleport out. If I brought a partner, I wouldn't want to "betray" him by letting him die. I'd tell him that I have an urgent issue in RL and tell him to teleport as well. At least he won't think I betrayed him if he died. 3. Well, I'd try to run away from the action and log out, and teleport if available and not TB'd. 4. Find a safe spot and log out, or just teleport out (always a good idea to bring one-click teleports wherever you go.) 5. Give all items (finished and unfinished) back to the person to avoid being reported as a scammer, and tell the person that I'll be right back.

search feature broken?
The search feature has been having more and more problems. I know that it ignores common words such as "the", etc, but it seems to only return a portion of results. For example, Andrew posted a topic called "I apologize" a long time ago, and the search feature can no longer find it. Also, I know for a fact that some players' names, such as Zzzamorak and Aaron11144 have been mentioned on the forums, but searching now return no results. Please look into this. Thanks.

Moderators leave messages after locking topics.
Yes, it would be nice if a moderator at least explain why they locked a topic. A long time ago, I've made topics and they would be rudely locked without any replies. It's really a slap in the face.

hunter rewards and the release option
I've noticed that some hunter rewards have a "release" option rather than a "drop" option. I've noticed that releasing creatures makes them disappear instead of appearing on the ground. For stacked ones, such as chinchompas, does it release one at a time or the entire stack? It'd stink to accidentally lose 50m worth of chinchompas this way!

Anyone Ever see a Famous RS player? Post your pics!
Wildflowers - she's fairly old school, I think. I also saw Mod Vicky at Lumbridge last night. March 24 edit: I just saw Olliegod, currently ranked #90 in herblore, as well as having 99 fletching and firemaking. April 3 edit: Neeko74 (200 million cooking exp) just added me on MySpace. I checked his profile, and it doesn't seem to be an impersonator! :)

SWG massive update; could it happen in RS?
In some RPGs, killing things much lower than you won't give any more EXP, for example, the game Exile III.

"buyable" skills
From what I gather, a "buyable" skill is any skill that can be significantly affected by the amount of wealth a player has. These skills often involve processing mass amounts of tradable items. I've noticed that some people tend to dislike "buying" skills, but the thing is, getting such skill takes a lot of money, and it's often considered an achievement to have earned a lot of money. What are your opinions on buyable skills, and which skills to you consider buyable? For me: Buyable: [*:27mlsp6g]Cooking [*:27mlsp6g]Fletching [*:27mlsp6g]Magic [*:27mlsp6g]Smithing [*:27mlsp6g]Crafting [*:27mlsp6g]Firemaking [*:27mlsp6g]Farming [*:27mlsp6g]Construction [*:27mlsp6g]Herblore Quasi-buyable (wealth affects leveling to some extent) [*:27mlsp6g]Ranging (you can buy lots of arrows but wouldn't make leveling significantly faster, unless you use chinchompas) [*:27mlsp6g]Prayer (takes a lot of time unless you spend much on high-level bones) [*:27mlsp6g]Runecrafting Non-buyable [*:27mlsp6g]Melee combat [*:27mlsp6g]Thieving [*:27mlsp6g]Fishing [*:27mlsp6g]Woodcutting [*:27mlsp6g]Agility [*:27mlsp6g]Slayer [*:27mlsp6g]Hunting [*:27mlsp6g]Mining edit: forgot herblore

new Pest Control world?
Does anyone know any PC worlds other than 78? For a long time, 78 was accepted to be the "official" PC world. However, some players say that there are better worlds now, and the last 5 games I played were lost due to incompetent noob teams. Are there other worlds? Thanks.

How many frog tokens you have?
37. I'm saving them now, in case Jagex gives other uses for them.

Why can't F2P have...?
I think that some membership benefits are, overall, unfair, which goes against Jagex's concept of "We feel your status in real-life shouldn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t affect your ability to be successful in the game." (quoted from RWT rule) The benefits of membership should be "more fun things to do for just $5/month", not "become richer and move faster up the hiscores than everyone else for only $5/month". Unfortunately, membership seems to be leaning towards the latter. Though I'm a member, I'd like to see the following new features on F2P: 1. a high level monster with a rare drop (members make money much faster than free users) 2. more bank space (to discourage f2pers from "muling") 3. mini-games for training skills (much akin to Pest Control)

one point seven kay (1700 skill total on RS2)
Yeah, I just got 1700 skill total on RS2. I didn't expect it reach it so quickly! Anyways, my next goal is level 99 fletching. I'm about 37% of the way there, LOL.

slayer dart
I've heard claims that the slayer dart is not affected by magic penalties. Is it really true? Has anyone tried it on magic resistant monsters, such as the giant mole? How about the king black dragon, KQ, and chaos elemental? Also, does it work on players, or monsters only? Thanks.

136th to 99 herblore and 9th to max out at 2277
(Pictured: Mt. Everest from Kala Patthar) There are some places places that few will ever go. Perhaps the road is too long or the air is too thin. Often, the length of the trip alone is intimidating. However, you have complete such a journey. Congratulations, Madgamer2. :)

Analysis of Runescape Highscores and Player Counts [Open]
Wouldn't this violate the rule 7 update? Anyways, I'd love to see your script attempt to determine f2p-only players (p2p players with absolutely p2p exp would be detected as well). Since Jagex won't make a separate f2p/p2p list, maybe you can. :) You should also make an overall ranking system by total exp rather than skill total.

Does anyone actually care about 99 firemaking?
As a level 99 firemaker, I thought I'd make a reply. On RuneScape Classic, there is only one type of log, and you stop failing at around level 45. After that, it's pretty pointless. In RS2, it's useful to have 80+, if you like shade burning. I got most of my firemaking exp on RSC Classic; even though it was a "useless" skill, I pushed it 99 anyways because I wanted a higher total exp and skill total.

Tip.It Times Presents: Growing Pains
Good read, thanks for publishing it. I do feel that RuneScape is too commercialized these days. RuneScape has lost a lot of Andrew's personal touch; he is now operating Jagex from a business point of view. In competition, Jagex disallows the discussions of other MMOs on the forums. IMO, that is very narrow-minded. Jagex is implying that those who think other games are better than RuneScape should be lined up against a wall and shot. No, censoring other games will not help the competition. In comparision, many other companies, such as 3D Realms and Wicked Lasers, allow the discussion of competitors' products. Jagex also no longer participates in community involvement. I guess this is to prevent acusations of favoritism. 1. Jagex no longer lists fan sites for security reasons, although some see this as a move to depart from the community. 2. Player achievements: Jagex used to use system messages to announce achievements and player events, such as the wedding of Ladymedusa and M_Oldfield. (http://ladymedusamoldfield.50megs.com) 3. Jagex used to publically welcome new staff, but no longer does so. 4. Jagex announced the real life wedding of Lady Pooh and Topcat0711, as well as that of Pugxsi and Jenstarr. However, these were removed, presumably because it conflicts with Jagex's now existing rule 13. The passing of Siw39 was announced, but was also removed. Since RS has grown so much, Jagex can't really do these things without being unfair. :(

anyone got the really old updates on file?
Edited for clarity as the formatting was messed up during the forum upgrade. Although RuneScape was launched on January 4, 2001, the news items only go back to July 10, 2002. I've been working on documenting all the older updates on the RuneScape Wiki. Here's what I have so far: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Update:Antique_update Unfortunately, Jagex has blocked the runescape.com domain from the Wayback Machine, which means we can't use it to find the old news posts. Jagex.com is still accessible, but only some news posts are saved on there. I'm aware that Tip.It has also posted about game updates, but those were usually paraphrased. I'm looking for the original text as it appeared on the RuneScape website. Updates I'm looking for include: 1. Varrock sewer and strength potiona (early February 2001) 2. Imp Catcher quest (mid-February 2001) 3. Asgarnia (April 6, 2001) 4. Karamja and Fishing skill (mid-June 2001) 5. Silver crafting 6. Skill menu update and introduction of quest-point system (Q2 2001) 7. Update to Magic system (new spells and runes, and merging of Good and Evil Magic skills) (Q2 2001) 8. A new interface that brings up a menu on right-clicking (shortly before Crafting update that made gems usable) 9. An update where Andrew used something along the lines of "if you know how to fix this, then plz let me know" while asking for help with Linux 🤣 (Q4 2001) 10. Andrew mentioning his birthday (December 3, 2001) 11. Fletching update (Q1 2002) 12. Thieving update (Q2 2002) 13. Possibly some others If you have any of them saved on your computer, please post them here. Thanks!

Jetys1 A few days ago, I had a nice chat with Naruto 1fan, currently ranked #68 in firemaking. I was too lazy to get a screenshot, though.
