  1. They have over 1 million members already. :)
  2. LOL, I had two players (both >70) offer me 1 gp.
  3. I've noticed that some relatively rare items have fairly low street prices. For example, powdered wigs (street price: ~250k) are much more uncommon than flared trousers (street price: ~700k). Often, forum searches would show flared trousers for trade, but rarely any powdered wigs. However, today, someone offered me 1m for my powdered wig (most people who traded with me only wanted to see what it looked like). I didn't want to rip her off, so I offered some money back, but she said she was happy with the purchase. It seems that some people who really want an item badly will offer above the street price. For example, someone here once offered 1m for green d'hide (g) but still couldn't find any sellers! Anyone know why the demand of such items is much lower than the demand of more common items? For my first example, I guess that people think the dancing emote is better than the angry one, LOL.
  4. Like in real history, some have made predictions of major events in RuneScape. Some were accurate, others were not. Does anyone know of any such predictions? This does not include PLANNED updates, etc, a prediction must be of something not officially announced. (If two sides are predicting opposite things, the more reasonable prediction (IMO) is used.) Here are the ones I know of: 1. No one will ever get level 99 in every stat. Originated: c. December 2001 Status: Failed Some people were discussing what would one do if they got level 99 in every stat. Most people believed it to be impossible. But now, several people have it, and Madgamer2, Green098, Aaron11144, Minerman64, and Venom0619 will probably reach it soon as well. 2. There will be protests in RS Originated: c. 2003 Status: Accurate I once posted a message discussing whether people would stage protests and riots in RS, like in the historical eras. Most people believed that it won't happen, but some did happen. For example, the Rule 7 protest, and several others. 3. There will be no equipment more powerful than dragon Originated: 2002-2003 Status: Failed People believed that dragon was to be the most powerful, but now we have third age and barrows stuff. 4. The members version of RS Classic will be released to free users Originated: c. 2005 Status: Failed Since Jagex no longer updates RSC, people believed that Jagex would release the members version of RSC to free users. Ironically, they actually took away the free version.
  5. I do know Unseen Snipr, but I didn't know that they were the same person, LOL.
  6. Hmm, the name Teh Unseen seems a bit familiar to me, but then again, many people have "Unseen" in their name, lol. Oh, my friend Sarah Devil0 just got 99 woodcutting a few minutes ago! I've also noticed that my friend Cane Wizardx is one of the top rangers, he got 99 ranged not too long ago.
  7. It's not a bad idea, as long as it requires a very high herblore level and that it restores only like 10% per dose.
  8. It really depends on the situation. If I'm doing a clue scroll, then I'd probably run. If I just finished training in the Wilderness agility course and someone attacks me, I'd fight to the detah; after all, it's a quick way to get back to Lumbridge at the cost of some cheap food.
  9. I'm ashamed to say that I've never heard of this player before, but I'm sure this guy is famous. Teh Unseen - level 15 with prayer cape.
  10. You know you take real life too seriously when playing RS when... You worry about feng shui when working on your construction.
  11. I've just added a new section. It should prove why Jagex should be more careful with their macro detection system!
  12. I just had two more clues point to itself. Last night, I had to talk to Sir Kay, and the next clue also told me to talk to Sir Kay (turned out to be rubbish, BTW). I just had to search a drawer in Rimmington, and the next clue was the same. I got a powdered wig! :D edit: Just got a clue where I had to search the boxes in Arduogne twice. Got Saradomin robes. :D
  13. Let's not encourage real-world treading, shall we?
  14. The thing is, I don't; I'm only making an assumption. The most reasonable assumption is that drops are independent of one another.
  15. Tree seeds... they're so easy to obtian in real life.
  16. I wrote up some statistical analyses of RS features. http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/User:Ixfd64/statistics I hope that this will clear up some misconceptions! This can also be used to tell if Jagex changed drop rates without telling us, etc. Is there anything I should add?
  17. I'm a bit sad to see that level 99 skills aren't so special anymore. :( About five years ago, if someone got level 99 in a skill, they would be pretty well known in the community. Their names would be mentioned in fan forums everywhere, and people would make bets on who would get level 99 in a certain skill first. However, today, there's tens of thousands of people with level 99 skills, and they won't stand out much in the RS community. These days, only people like Zezima and N0valyfe get such attentions. I have 3 level 99 skills right now, but I certainly can't call myself famous, LOL. However, thousands of people getting level 99 cooking, etc, doesn't make it any easier. Those people still deserve to be commended.
  18. Got several good ones in one screenshot: My friend Fallyn Heart (99 HP, now 99 cooking as well), Fatman482 (99 woodcutting, 98 crafting), Geoslug (99 fletching and crafting, fellow level 99 firemaker and thief), Soda P0p Jr (fellow level 99 firemaker and RS Classic fan), and Fatman482 (99 woodcutting, 98 crafting, 96 cooking).
  19. Ixfd64, still accessible. Level 87, 1282 skill total. Although I don't play it as much now, LOL. I just got 84 woodcutting earlier today, though. :D
  20. One thing about working on even simple skills is that you often have to move your mouse around a lot. Of course, moving the mouse doesn't seem to take a lot of time at all. However, on the long run, such as getting a skill to level, those small amounts of time do add up. I've noticed that when string bows, the game always uses up the materials near the top. So to save time from moving the mouse, I always put a bow string and an unstrung bow together on the bottom of the inventory. That way, i don't have to move my mouse much at all. When alching a half inventory of bows, I position a bow at where the hi-alch spell would be. When timed right, you don't have to move the mouse at all! I hope that this won't trigger Jagex's macro detector, LOL.
  21. Vera02 - fellow level 99 cook - I met her in late 2002; she hasn't been on for well over a year. (probably quit) Master Willy - good friend from 2001 (probably quit) Faz Maz/Maz Faz - good friend since 2002. Haven't seen him since about three years or more. (probably quit) Hope930 - became friends with him last year. (probably quit) Super724 - became friends with her last year, haven't seen her for over half a year.
  22. Has anyone ever had a clue point to itself? A while ago, I got a clue that told me to search a drawer in taverly. That clue told me to search the same drawer!
  23. "Overpowered"? When you spend so much effort on a level 99 skill, you'd espect to be rewarded for such efforts.
  24. I don't want this to turn into a P2P v. F2P war. One of Jagex's major concepts is that each player should have an equal chance of success. In their rules, Jagex explicitly states: The benefits of memberships should be "More fun things for you to do for only $5 a month!", not "Go faster up the hiscores than everyone else for only $5 a month!" Unfortunately, it seems that membership is going towards the latter. For example, members and free users share the same hiscores. All of the top positions are members. Free version users can never go above a certain position on the overall hiscores. When fletching was released, members were given new logs. A member could level up several times faster than free users. (This was solved during the RS2 launch, when free users were given up to yew.) Prayer is so much faster on members. Free users only get big bones (12.5 exp), while members can use far better bones and faster methods. Members get rich easily. At least for me, it's "Got a ranarr here, 6k. Got a good clue, 200k. Mmm, thieving 100k or 200 gems an hour." The rarest drop on the free worlds are rune large helms, worth a measly 30k nowadays. I'm sure this is one main reason why there are so many beggars on the free version. The main reason that Jagex rarely updates the free version now is due to the costs of running the game. Perhaps Jagex could add minor updates to the free that balances these problems. (For example, making certain herbs obtainable but not usable on the free version. That way, free users can still make money by selling to members.)
