One common concept that members may share is that "Since I only got limited time on this, I better train as much as possible." So as members, do you find yourself training more than usual? For me, I do. For one reason, members is less boring than the free version. Also, since I wan't to get the most out of it, I'd focus my training into members skills. It's a bit silly to train f2p skills that I can train for free (unless it offers much faster experience, such as prayer). Anyways, here are my stats for members. 1. July 2002-August 2002 (30 herblore, ~45 fletching, 55 thieving) (~ 240k members XP) As you can see, I didn't get much exp on my first month of members. But then again I, was pretty lazy at the time. As a matter of fact, although I started in February 2001, I only had about 6m total XP by late 2002. 2. July 2003-October 2003 (45 herblore, ~62 fletching, 76 thieving, 56 agility) (~1674k members XP) (~550k members XP per month) Since it was the summer, I had more time to play RuneScape, and wasn't as lazy, but the XP still wasn't much. But then again, I was still a bit lazy, and that was in RS Classic where skills were harder. 3. January 2006-February 2006 (~53 herblore, ~64 fletching, 77 thieving, ~58 agility, ~55 slayer, ~45 farming) (~455k members XP) This is the first time I got members since RS2. I didn't get much exp in since I spent a much of my time on quests. 4. March 2006-April 2006 (~55 herblore, ~60 slayer, ~66 fletching, 77 thieving, 63 agility, ~50 farming) (~420k members XP) Again, not much XP. It's also because I spent much time on slower skills. 5. July 2006-September 2006 (~56 herblore, 64 slayer, 73 fletching, 96 thieving, 69 agility, 55 farming) (~9203k members XP) (~3060k XP per month) I decided to do serious thieving. Look at that huge jump! Also, some skills have become easier on RS2. 6. January 2007-now (have 1 more month remaining) (57 herblore, 64 slayer, 97 fletching, 99 thieving, 71 agility, 57 farming) (~13566k members XP) (~6800k XP per month) These are my two most "productive" months to date. I guess it's because I don't have classes on certian days in college, so I have more time to play (after studying).

Unfortunately, yes. I've been "hacked" Twice. 1st time: I went to a dangerous site and a keylogger installed itself. I lost over 50 santa hats and 33 masks. 2nd time: I was dumb and fell for the "Jagex blocks your password! ****" scam. Luckily I scared the "hacker" off on my newbie account and all I lost was 3 staves.

Back when few people had level 99 stats, they were only the center of attention. A lot of us would be fascinated and watch those players slowly rise to level 99. However, now, 99 stats are so common that people hardly notice them. (http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=628432) However, 200M XP stats are similar to the level 99 stats in the old days: Few people have them, people with 200M EXP stats are relatively well-known, and not all skills have been maxed yet (only 7 currently have), except that reaching 200M is much, much harder. So, do you think that 200m stats will be very common many years from now? Do you think Jagex will release yet another reward for those who reach 200M?

Currently, in the Shield of Arrav quest, there is one key involved: the key to the Phoenix Gang weapon storeroom. If I remember correctly, back in the days, there were TWO separate keys: one for the equipment room and one for the basement (I vividly remember paying 177 GP for it). However, not long after, the Phoenix Gang was changed so that you only needed one key. So what happened tot his second key? Is it extremely rare? Or has it been removed from the game? Since no-one ever mentions it, I'm guessing it has been removed, but I'm not sure. If it still exists, it's probably worth billions, LOL. On a side note, there used to be a bug that allowed the player to join both gangs. I joined the Black Arm Gang and bought the keys to the Phoenix Gang. I was able to enter the Black Arm hideout, although Katrine got mad at me if I spoke to her, and Straven would attack me if I tried to enter the Phoenix hideout.

I was friends with Snuff Film (and several of his other accous), who was a RSC player. Ever since RSC became mebers only, I haven't seen him since, except once (probably quit). Also, I'd like to know the status of two of my other RSC friends, Tom4z1o and Toxic Staker. I stopped seeing Dirty Douzen, but I think it was because he removed me. I'm also looking for the following former tip.it users: Drealfreak and Athena757.

And no, I didn't make that picture, LOL. I found it on http://forumspile.com.

For those who weren't around at the time, someone allegedly hacked into Paul Gower's account and posted that he would open the POHs. He said he would open them if a certain auto racer won. Andrew Gower later said that the POHs were not going to be opened. Since it was on April Fools, some believe that the whole thing was set up by Jagex. *X-Files theme plays*

1 April 2007 - Behind the Scenes - April 1st

The "red cabbage" Easter event thing was somewhat believable. For me, I believed everything until the "laser" part. -

what was the best thing u gave to some1 for FREE?
ixfd64 replied to amazizing333's topic in General Discussion
I normally don't give free items, since I feel that it destroys the work ethic. However, I do make exceptions if someone got scammed or hacked. I do give away trivial items (one or two guam leaves, etc) for those who need it. As for drop parties, I did a 2m party for Valentine's day this year. edit: realized that this was a bumped thread -
That wasn't really the point of my post, LOL. I just came up with it as an example, although I could probably have used a much better one. :P

There seems to be two types of customer support. The first type are those counseling services and stuff. The second type depends on your religion. Apparently, if you're a Christian, there's one CS representative, God. Other religions have more than one representative. If you're an atheist, this type of CS isn't available, LOL. :P Also, I've heard that you actually become weaker as you get to very high levels. And everyone dies at one point. When you die, I've heard that your account is deleted, and you lose EVERYTHING. However, if your religion supports reincarnation, some exp might carry over.

Yeah, I've noticed that people do get recognized at shcool for major achievements. For example, in March 2004, I got accepted by UC Berkeley. I didn't want vanity to get the best of me, so I tried to keep a low profile and only told people who asked what college I was going to. However, someone must have let the cat out of the bag because quite a few people who I didn't know congratulated me at school, LOL.

One of the major differences between real life and a game like RuneScape is the fame and competition. My parents have told me that "virtual" fame doesn't help in the real world - it's mostly true. (Unless you're a good merchant and do real-world trading, but that's illegal in most online games.) True, being ranked among the top 50 in RuneScape won't help on your resume. Since there are over 6 billion living people on Earth (compared to about, say, 3 million active players on RuneScape), there is far more competition, and harder to get fame. We'll use a high-level RS player who is pretty involved in the community - let's use Yogosun, currently ranked #3 in terms of skill total, as an example. Although Yogosun doesn't talk in public in RS very much, he's pretty active on Youtube (as Yogosun2), and he often answers questions from players. In one video, he turns private chat to "on" an receives several messages from players each second! Let's look at a real-life equivalent. A reasonable "high-level achievement" in real-life would be, say, getting #3 in terms of GPA in a top university, such as Stanford University. However, the 3rd top student, even if he gives out his AIM and MSN names, probably wouldn't receive 2-3 IMs/phone calls each second. This is due to several differences. 1. Schools usually do not have a "high score table" for GPAs 2. Even if they did, the contact information wouldn't be readily available 3. Many people who message top RS players are actually noobs who just want to bug them; in real life, most students of good universities are much more mature than that 4. In RS, being a top player usually involves getting 99 everything, but students aren't required to take every single class (that would take centuries!). Therefore, the top student might not know about a particular subject, etc. 5. A MMORPG may have millions of players; a large university may only have 40,000 students. However, if you were a real-life celebrity and gave out your AIM screenname or whatever, then it's a whole different story. Anyways, I have a question for those of you who have real-life achievements that you consider major, such as being on TV, or getting a difficult school award: Do you get a lot of attention from your peers because of this? Do you get flooded with phone calls and IMs, etc? edit: forgot #5

So Jagex finally made luring illegal. However, what does it mean by "false pretenses"? Obviously, telling someone you have an item to sell for cheap and to tell the victim to meet near the Wilderness and then making up an excuse is a scam. But is it a scam to drop money in the Wilderness and hope that someone will follow it?

Maybe he was trying to trade a Guthan spear 25, 50 or 75? Barrows stuff is only tradable at 00 or 100. -
Yeah, I was expecting blood runes, as well as a high-level quest. I guess I was wrong.

As some players think, thieving is one of the more underlooked skill. Personally, I think it needs it needs more variety. For example, most NPCs say the same thing when you fail (except H.A.M.) give the same thing (except H.A.M., heroes, rogues, elves, and gnomes, and hit the same each time (except H.A.M.). That's not very interesting. We need more variety, such as knights giving a random amount of GP between 25 and 75, level 2 clue scrolls, metal bars, or maybe special items that can only be gained through thieving. We also need more chests. So far, you'll always be success if you search for traps. We also need more types of traps, rather than just taking regular damage, such as magical traps that summon watchmen or lower stats, etc. Also, damaging traps should be more descriptive, like "knives fly out at you!" rather than just "You've triggered a trap", etc. Also, we need more lockpicks, such as fine lockpicks and magic lockpicks (more useful, less likely to break, etc).

Friend Finder, An Add-On *105 Supporters WOOT!*

Great idea. This feature, however, might be unfair in the Wilderness, though. -
Currently, Jagex has a strict policy on not returning items that are lost, due to people misusing customer support. Even if Jagex is sure that the player has unfairly lost items, Jagex only offers the player an apology. However, some people do lost expensive stuff, such as party hats, to major glitches, such as the 666 massacre. Since Jagex doesn't return items even in this situation, it has often been criticized. Some game companies, do, however, return items in certain cases. However, this would alos lead to fake scams in an attempt to gain items. Imagine this following scenario: Player X creates a fake scamming account, Y. Y "scams" X out of 2 million, and X reports Y. After a while, Y transfers the 2m back to X, breaking rule 8 at the same time. Since Jagex cannot link X and Y because the use of a proxy, Jagex bans Y and gives X 2m. X has scammed 2m off Jagex at the cost of a "disposable" account. In summary, here are the pros and cons of returning items: Pros: 1. Makes game more fair 2. Other companies do it Cons 1. Encourages misuse of customer support 2. more workload for staff What do you think should be the solution? Personally, I have no idea.

Yes, I am also wondering what the POC of Neitiznot is. Also, you forgot: 7 - F2P Tip.Iters world 99 - P2P Tip.Iters world

Old school players may remember Jagex often becoming involved with the community: [*:1tmakop3]announcing players' weddings (http://ladymedusamoldfield.50megs.com) [*:1tmakop3]announcing reali-life marriages [*:1tmakop3]announcing the passing of players (Siw39, but not HTe Old Nite) [*:1tmakop3]posting on fan forums [*:1tmakop3]dropping items on holidays [*:1tmakop3]publically welcoming new staff [*:1tmakop3]announcing major achievements I can understand that Jagex no longer announces marriages due to the now existing rule 13. However, Jagex seemed to stopped all forms of community involvement. Today, this is the commonly accepted fact: RS has grown so popular, that Jagex has stopped this, otherwise they would get accused of favoritism ("Player x just got a system message for reaching level 99 attack. Why didn't I get one for 99 cooking?", etc). However, other forms of involvement is acceptable. What do you feel is an acceptable extent of community involvement? Personally, I feel that system messages announcing player affairs are too far for today's standards. However, I think non-rare item drops on holidays are OK. Maybe Jagex can make some threads in community forums "featured" but that's about it.

It's a good point - it'd definitely be unfair it people used it to stake/PK, especially with those statkes involving rares. By the way, another idea would be to make it so that any such spells work on NPCs only, etc.

Since RuneScape is a MASSIVELY MULTI-PLAYER game, each addition to the game will affect many players. Thus, balance is more important than realism. The mechanics will also be fairly different. For example, Jagex won't be able to add super-powerful spells that can kill in one hit or attacks that damage a 20x20 square without its official forums crashing due to too many people using the Rants forum. However, some other players argue that its acceptable as long as the cost is very high. After all, if you spent a lot of money for an attack, you'd expect it to be good. For example, someone on tip.it once posed a good question on a topic discussing whether Ancient Magicks were overpowered: If a 700k spell could kill in one hit, it is acceptable? What do you think? Personally, I think that spells like one-hit kills are still too powerful for the game to be balanced, despite the cost. However, spells doing ~50 damage or so should be OK, as long as it is checked by high costs and certain conditions (such as wearing armor with little defense, etc).
