  1. When it came out, I wished that it was never created. However, now, I don't think that RS2 is that bad!
  2. Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I'm sure that his family will pull through these difficult times.
  3. I'm not sure if this thread is inappropriate; if it is, I apologize in advance. I was just informed by a fellow p-mod that another moderator passed away two weeks ago due to a heart attack. Unless I get permission from appropriate representatives, I will not post his name, out of respect for him. This person was one of my friends for about two years, and he was a very hard worker. He was purely f2p, yet he has level 99 cooking, level 99 woodcutting, and level 92 fishing. He will sorely be missed. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. *salutes*

    Eeps, a ghost!

Interesting story. You could submit your story to http://paranormal.about.com (or post it on their forums) and see what the folks there think.
  5. Well, it's a small world. With RuneScape becoming more and more popular, it's very likely that we'll weet fellow RS players outside of the game. So, does anyone have any special experiences with RS players outside of RS? For me, I have a few: Real life Some time in early 2006, I went to a party, and I saw another family whose children played RS. They thought it was really cool how I was a mod, and so Battleman290 and his brother Battleman209 are now on my friend list! Not too long later, my family went out with another family, and I learned that their son played RS under the name Draken Death. So that's another real life friend who plays RS! Online I've met a few RS players in other non-RS communities: Excal Shells from the Pyro Universe forums (a forum dedicated to fireworks hobbyists) Jcantrell from the English Wikipedia A few fellows from MySpace And here's another encounter which shows how small our world is. A few months ago, I joined LaserCommunity, a forum for laser enthusiasts, run by Wicked Lasers, the company that sells high-powered handheld lasers. There, I had a conversation with "Pseudonomen137", one of the forums most respected members. It turns out that he is Mafu5 from RuneScape. Old school players may recognize the name! I remember that a few people complained about him, but I guess that we all become better people over time. :)
  6. In class, when you do a group project by yourself, you call it "soloing."
  7. I know it's a bit late, but... Title: "The Twelve Days of Christmas - RuneScape version" Original title: "The Twelve Days of Christmas" Note: I wrote this around the 2001 Christmas time. 8. After about 11 hours of practice, I'd say that I'm about level 25 driving. :P "Congratulations, you have advanced a driving level. You can now do two-stage U-turns."
  9. You could try eBay. I have that game, by the way. :)
  10. Welcome! By the way, I've seen you on the RuneScape Wiki! :)
  11. Thanks for the advice guys! I'll try not to run over any grandmas or anything. BTW, nice sig, Bloodredsword. :P
  12. This video is also pretty interesting:
  13. Well, I passed my written driving exam today. I was off by one point on my first attempt, but I passed the exam on my second attempt. If all goes well, I'll start practicing with my family tomorrow. Wish me luck!
  14. Are you sure? Both my characters are using "accurate", but my level 96 throws a lot faster than my level 32.
  15. Does anyone know if the snowball throwing speed is determined by stats? I know that Jagex doesn't like having skills and holiday items affect each other, but my main throws much faster than my lower level character.
  16. A bit off-topic, but... In the game Exile III, you have a luck skill, and you can survive even if you fall below 0 HP! Obviously, this will complately mess up RS PKing. :D
  17. LOL, not if its considered one of the greatest animation films. :P Note that I'm not a huge fan of Disney movies; I just got this idea when I was bored when reading Wikipedia, lol.
  18. Sorry, I was in a hurry when I typed this, so please excuse any grammar errors, etc. synopsis: In a distant land, the princess has fallen under a deadly curse! Perhaps a brave adventurer can figre out waht's going on. [The original fairy tale had a second part after the princess is saved, but I omitted that part because it's a bit similar to Eadgar's Ruse, and I couldn't really come up with a good RuneScape version of it. If anyone wants, I could try to, anyways. This is based on Disney's version.] requirements: completion of Heroes Quest (and other quests it requires); level 50 thieving; ability to defeat a level 257 dragon. start: The player wanders upon a beautiful castle in the country, where all is not well. The player talks to King Stefan, who looks very worried. He tells the player that, 16 years ago, they gave birth to Princess Aurora, but a jealous fairy cast a curse on her such that she will die on her 16th birthday after touching a spindle. (This would explain the lack of spinning wheels in the area.) Three good fairies (Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather) had taken Aurora to a secret place in the woods, and the player is told that today is her birthday. The player is instructed to go to the fairies at once. A king's henchman will take the player there after blindfolding them. There, the faries explain the situation to the player, and Aurora is told that she will marry Prince Philip. At this point, the fairy do not tell the princess about the curse, as she would most likely freak out. Note: If the player has not completed Heroes Quest, the fairies will tell him/her that (s)he cannot help anymore. Otherwise, proceed. Knowing that the player is a powerful adventurer, the fairies think that the player can help protect the princess, and they go back to the castle. [cut-scene: Unfortunately, it is already too late. The evil fairy Maleficent used her magic to materialize a spindle and trick Aurora into touching it.] Fortunately, Merryweather is able to reduce the curse such that the princess falls asleep until she receives her true love's kiss. Unfortunately, Maleficent has learned of this and trapped Philip in her castle, which is guarded by black knights. When the player reaches his cell, they can use their thieving skill (150 exp) and free the prince. At this point, Maleficent notices and teleports in to attack the player. She will be level 127 and attack with magic. When the player defeats her once, she will transform into a level 257 dragon and fly away. The player must follow the dragon. This time, she doesn't use magic, but attacks with fire-based attacks. The fairies will give the player and the prince a Shield of Virtue and a Sword of Truth (tradable, but cannot be used until the player goes far enough into the quest; same stats as anti-dragon shield and a steel long sword, respectively). (If the player loses them, they can get a replacement by giving the fairies a steel long sword and an anti-dragon shield, respectively, along with 25 of each elemental rune.) The player must fight the now level-257 dragon, but it is in a multi-combat zone, and Prince Philip (level 80) will help. The fairies will also help by casting bolt and weakening spells. The last hit must be done by the special sword. When, the dragon is defeated, the prince tells the player to meet him at the castle, where he kisses Aurora. [insert sappy cut-scene] Quest complete! rewards: 1. 3 quest-points 2. 25,000 exp to each melee stat 3. 20,000 magic exp 4. 20,000 ranged exp 5. 15,000 slayer exp 6. 25 gold bar notes and 3 uncut diamonds [7. The castle will now have spinning wheels.]
  19. synopsis: A dangerous looking beast has been seen roaming around the town! However, there may be more than meets the eye... [The original version of this fairy tale was a bit plain, so I used Disney's version. I also added some modifications so to make it more fit for RuneScape!] requirements: level 20 thieving; ability to defeat a level 75 character. start: Talk to some of the villagers, who will say they have seen a beast roaming around. The beast will be found in a castle and have the "attack" option. However, when the player tries to attack him, their character will refuse, saying that the beast doesn't look too evil. He will talk to your character and tell his story that he was once a prince, but was transformed into a monster by a sorceress for being cruel. [cut-scene] The Beast will then say that no-one will accept him and tell the player to leave his castle before he becomes hungry. The player's character then says to him/herself that they shouold talk to other villagers. This is when the player meets Belle. She tells the player that her father Maurice was lost after trying to take his invention to the local fair. The player will find him locked up in the Beast's castle, but the player can free him with by picking the lock (level 20 thieving + 50 exp). However, Maurice refuses to leave, fearing that the Beast could become angry and do more evil things. [cut-scene where the local hunter Gaston proposes to Belle, but she rejects] At this point, the player reports the situation to Belle. She offers to take her father's place in the Beast's cstle, and the all three reluctantly agree. Your character will question the benefits of this move. [cut-scene] Belle is now in the castle and can go anywhere except for the west wing. [cut-scene: Belle sneaks into the forbidden area and the Beast gets mad, but she escapes.] Here, she meets three level-64 wolves on the way, but the Beast (level 80) shows up and protects her (multi-combat zone), though the player must also intervene. (If either Belle's (60 HP) or the Beast's health falls below 10, they will not die, but the player must start agan, like in In Aid of the Myreque. After this, Belle and the Beast become friends, and he allows her to see her father more. [cut-scene with the famous dance scene] The Beast will become more human, but this will take time. So, the player must wait at least days in game-time (doesn't have to be logged in) before being able to continue. [i'll admit, some people will probably complain.] The player now finds out that Gaston has plans to do Belle's father in unless she marries him. Belle and her father are now locked up, this time by Gaston. However, the player can free them with their thieving skill (level 20 + 50 exp). Just then, Belle realizes that the Beast isn't really an evil creature, and she thinks that the spell can be broken if they have the complete rose, which has fallen into 16 pieces. The player can find 15 of the pieces in the Beast's castle, but learns that Gaston has stolen the 16th piece. The player must defeat him (level 75) to get the piece. Gaston attacks with a dagger by default; if the player uses protect from melee, Gaston switches to a willow shortbow. The player reassembles the rose, and the spell is broken, and the Beast is now back to the Prince. [cut-scene] Quest complete! rewards: 1. 2 quest points 2. access to the Prince's enormous library, where the player can learn more about the history of RuneScape and gain exp in various skills (only once, though).
  20. A long time ago, I suggested that censored words be indicated with brackets, like this: original -> [censored] It was because if the censor changed a word to another (less obvious than bleeping it out), it may cause embarassing grammar errors, and people may be easily "misquoted". In journalism, brackets are often used if an overlooking editor modifies the original article, so it would make sense to add brackets to censored words. When I first made the suggestion, it was rejected, but it looks like that somone has implemented it!
  21. Will the new treasure trail items devalue the old rewards? Or is it still too early to tell? Also, has Jagex made clue drops more rare? Or are level-1 clues still very easy to get from H.A.M., etc? Thanks.
  22. Haha, yea, I've done that before. :D
  23. I don't think that posting videos of RS is copyright infringement - that's only if you post decompiled code or private servers, etc. I believe that videos with no commercial purpose fall uder "fair use", etc.
  24. If I remember correctly, then today, December 3, is the birthday of Andrew Gower (who should be 28 today), and our very own Lightning. Happy birthday to them both! I remember Andrew announcing this in 2001. Unfortunately, Jagex wouldn't make such news posts these days, otherwise they would be accused of favoritism, lol. :(
  25. You know you've played RuneScape too much when... ...you actually tried the "redberry pie" recipe that Jagex posted. ...you refer to geocaching as real-life treasure trails with coordinate clues.
