Magic Vs Melee
Which he can, thanks to ice barrage. He could easily take the meleer on toe to toe, though - with miasmic barrage, he could still out hit and out heal him, considering that he can reduce attack 30%, poison, and heal off of him. Magic is two sided; not only is it good for combat (and the fastest method of dishing out damage is ice barrage in a multi zone, period), it has a lot of uses for skilling too.

Something doesn't seem to add up...
I beg to differ. The only time the KO factor is reasonable is in eating PVP; by far in the minority in RS. For all the safe RS, and mostly for PVP, damage per minute is what matters. A pure with 60 attack\99 strength isn't going to land a single dd++ spec on someone with high defence and torags. He would do much better, and could train faster, at 80 attack\80 strength.

Sometimes jagex just goes overboard
Y'know, it really annoys me when people make sweeping derogatory statements against Jagex that don't even make sense (them having no common sense, or caring more about money then customers) as a 'reply' to a rant. Fools? I think not, given the very good accuracy and number of reports that come in. The OP obviously broke a rule, and was duly punished for it. That would make Jagex smart, considering the tiny number of staff vs. number of reports being sent in. But even a broken clock is right twice a day. In other words, given Jagex's tendency to punish people for offenses they did not commit, or for things that are in no way against the rules as outlined on the Runescape website, like mentioning "Youtube" or "Google", then of course they're going to catch the vast majority of rule breakers. Tendency to punish players for crimes they did not commit? Out of the 130 million accounts, I don't see many being unfairly punished - certainly not this one. They outline their rules clearly and fairly, and follow them. Mentioning youtube won't get you banned; giving a specific web address to a youtube video will. Does anyone read the report forum any more? Besides the fact that there is a sticky for stuff like this, the fact that, oh, once every month we see someone complaining about being (usually fairly) banned\muted indicates that they are doing quite a good job, considering the maybe 20 employees in reports vs. the 6 million active accounts.

But the armor IS tradeable... Fair enough, it's tradeable before it's used. But defenders aren't, and are quite a bit less common then scepters. But defenders are VERY useful. The scepter's benefits are minimal- all it really offers is a limited number of free teleports to Barbarian Village. Considering that Edgeville, with the Glory Amulet teleport, is to the North and Varrock to the East, the things should be a semi-frequent drop.It is. It would take a near-maxed player like me roughly 5 minutes per piece. But to continue on that argument, value does NOT equate to rarity. To use an example of a drop I got roughly an hour ago: a shield half from black demons. One of the rarest drops in the game, worth exactly its alch price - the cost of a nat. Other drops, like dragon spear or med helm, are the same way. What about dragon plateskirts? All rare drops - none valuable. Just because an item is semi-worthless doesn't mean it should be a common drop. But in this case, it is. Dragon square shield halves take dozens, if not hundreds, of hours to get, but are only worth 66k, one of the many cases where a RARE drop is inexpensive.

Magic Vs Melee
The max hit of ice barrage is 30, so you can "eat through" most of the spells easily using sharks and ko the mage with dds during the cooldown time of the freezing effect. But the max hit of mage is 50, and almost always hits. Your slash defence is over 250, so the dd++ probably won't land much, and you can freeze and continue to hit, healing from the hits so you barely have to eat. But the player could just take off his armor- most melee armor does not aid your damage output. Suddenly, his magic defenses are no longer in the negatives. Heck, if he's wielding a dagger and has the Helm of Neitiznot, he'll have a positive magic defense of like two or three. That's possibly the worst piece of advice ever given to a melee player, and one that many people follow. First of all, with a 0 mage defence, he's still virtually defenseless. 2nd of all, you can equip a dagger and spec him to kingdom come. I've done that countless times, once for a 38-37 KO. His magic and melee defences are 0. Your melee defence is +250, with a large magic bonus AND melee weapon. Guess who wins.

But the armor IS tradeable... Fair enough, it's tradeable before it's used. But defenders aren't, and are quite a bit less common then scepters. You have better\worse luck with all the pieces, but it averages out. I'd say that I could probably get all 4 pieces in under 20 minutes on average. Good point, what's the point of a scepter?

Range Haters United!
Fair enough. Fair point - in real life, a bow takes a fair bit of time to prepare and shoot. Throwing knives can be fast, though. Then again, how many people do you know in real life that can cast magic spells? I hate many meleers too. Taking 2 monsters is annoying, I agree. The 10 second wait shouldn't be in place though; it's kind of a 'deal with it' thing. Here's where your rant starts breaking down. Range armor does increase your range attack bonus - and why bother standing out where you can get hit if you don't need to? It's the same sort of illogical thinking against farcasting, complete with the usual retort of 'fight like a man' Melee and range have similar max hits with common training weapons, at least in the lower levels. And your max hit goes up slowly but 'surly' with range too? Actually, that is what this is for. Just as you are welcome to post detailing your dislike of range, I can post about why I think you are wrong. That's not a thread, that's a cult. People are free to post their opinions, even if they differ from yours. No worries there.[/hide] how many peoples' crossbow bolts shoot dragon fire? That being said, range is still a great and unique skill. It has much k0 potential in p2p Any rune crossbow. The only disadvantage is the cost of dragon bolts (e). And yes, the 60's make for a good KO.

That's why I've been fighting against the same monster for 1 - 2 hours now.. You fail mate.. fail. Just because you got lucky and got all the pieces fast. I've gotten 18 scepters, and have spent over 100 hours fighting Ankous alone. Since you brought up luck, good or bad, how many have you gotten again?

Stronghold of Security
Welcome to the world of rare drops. Just because PVP armor is untradable and degrades doesn't mean it should have a frequent drop rate. It doesn't even take that long to get the staff, mabye 1-2 hours at the VERY most.

Something doesn't seem to add up...
Couple of interesting points. Not to worry, I can argue against all of them \ First off, you say that iit 'doesn't seem' like your attack level rising is resulting in you hitting fewer zeros. Wrong. It obviously does. Try making a level 3 with 1 attack, and try to hit a 99 defence player in barrows. Defence doesn't affect hit, it affects how often you get hit. No, it shouldn't reduce the max hit. Attack > strength > defence for PVP, as you hit less then 50% of the time. However, defence applies when ranging and maging; something that attack and strength don't. Hence why defence has less effect on combat then strength or attack (combat formula, anyone?).

Rude people.
The chances that your main is Zezima are approximately 1/130,000,000. Therefore, I can safely assume that your main is, indeed, not zezima, and that this is simply a trolling attempt. The reason people flame you for saying your main is Zezima is because it obviously isn't, making you a lying, pathetic, jealous excuse for a noob. Insulting, but I'd guess that's what your looking for with this trolling rant? Curse the RSOF and 4chan...

Range Haters United!
^^ Nah, I just try to stay within the realm of what I know.. when I get into to the 'what I think' or 'what I heard' realm, I tend to be wrong about something. And people will pick out one wrong thing and invalidate your entire post from it :P

Sometimes jagex just goes overboard
Your first blackmark: Obvious. If you say offering free membership in public, you can bet your going to get some black marks. Second one: not carefully read by Jagex. Then again, I'm surprised a human can even glance over each of them; have you considered the million + reports they get per day, and the fact that their entire staff barely numbers over 100? As for the people part, most companies are interested in making money, not making friends with the people that buy their products. So yes, Jagex is more interested in money then people. Just like every other for-profit company out there. Why is this always used as an 'insult' against them? Guess what, Menards is more interested in making money off you then being your best friend!

Range Haters United!
^^ Nope, I said prayer, not armor - diamond bolts do a nice job on armor though. I'm almost positive dragonfire are affected also; they are merely another special. The dak bow specials are 40% less damage under protect range. And they really aren't that great; I've got void and 95 range, and while I get a few good specs in, it's usually 8-8 on good armor.

Range Haters United!
Ehh, a few months ago they changed it from 'not allowing under 13' to 'changing permissions for under 13', so admitting you were underage after agreeing to being over 13 isn't the greatest idea. Plus not even being a teenager yet generally reduces how people think of you - not saying anything personal, just a general stereotype.

Jagex changes for the worse
Actually, your wrong. Before the GE, and even for a while before the release of skill capes, most skills like Herblore and Smithing didn't make money. This game is XP driven; the journey is worth more then the goal. That's why it's like that, not because 'jagex is changing things'. The GE simply made it easier to trade, and therefore more obvious. Nothing. But I'm simply pointing out that this entire rant is totally wrong, and is obvoiusly written by a short-sided, misinformed individual - both of his two 'points' are so completely wrong that this rant simply makes him look bad. Excuse me? We are now not allowed to differ from the OPs opinion? When did the rules of the rants form change from 'discussion' to 'only post if you agree with me 100%'? No, you would be instantly killed in the debates forum - this is for informal, unimportant, opinion-oriented debates. The debates forum is for serious debaters with real points and valid reasons. Only when necessary - and it generally doesn't 'change things for the worse'. And certainly not in any of the two ways the OP mentioned.

Dharok beats Bandos so bad *Revamped Again*
The thing is that it does have amazing stats in comparison to other legs. Other legs have no strength bonus whatsoever. This has +2, which makes it infinitely better in that category. The defense is no problem to some people. I have an sgs, almost 88 summoning, and 99 defense. Healing is easy for me, and usually i have excess healing, even when using a Bunyip. Once I have a Unicorn, it'll be even easier. To most high level players, defense isn't important. But offense is. +2 strength will make you hit around .8% higher, increasing your XP by an unmeasurably tiny amount. I also happen to be a bit of a high level player, with 90 summoning, sgs, and 134 combat. I had full bandos for around a day before I switched to proslyte top\verac's skirt. Instead of +6 strength, I have better defence and a much larger prayer bonus. I use that to my advantage, praying at least +10% strength and sometimes piety, to provide a FAR faster killing speed then bandos - and with SGS, I use very few prayer pots with +10% strength; far less then the amount bandos tends to fall! Therefore, I have MUCH greater killing speed, at a cheaper overall cost (assuming you can sell bandos for close what you bought it for), and no need to tie up large piles of cash that can instead be merchanted for millions per day in profit.

Jagex changes for the worse
Fine with me. But every part of this rant is wrong. The OP is complaining about how Jagex is changing things to make us players more miserable. The first half of his rant is invalidated due to his being dead wrong; it was never changed. The second half, trade limit, is also wrong. It was a choice between shut down RS or make a 60k trade limit. Did Jagex choose the worse route? Not in my opinion. Just as he can post his opinion, I can say that his is wrong and that mine is correct, if I have decent evidence to back it up. He can do the same right back to me, and so forth and so on. Obviously the economy has always been 90% player driven. Exactly hat I said. And how doesn't it make sense? I explained it quite simply. Very basic laws of economics. And how isn't it balanced? You can buy what you want, and sell what you want, with no freeze ups except for certain 3rd age armor and rares. Supply and demand is balanced. The economy isn't about to ruin RS; it is quite peaceful and, for the most part, productive.

Jagex changes for the worse
is a reason for my reply and this is one of the main reasons I agree with the title of this thread. Example: Even if you buy a diamond already cut at 2,514, you can only sell the made amulet at 2,495. That is if you mine the gold yourself, you still lose money. An enchanted amulet sells for 2,585. So if you still gather all the materials yourself, your profit is still very small. It is this way for most things now. I realize this is a game and not the real world. But if this happened in the real world the whole world would basically be a third world country. Since the GE, the Amulet of Power has decreased in value by about 75%. So yes, Jagex/Runescape has more or less changed for the worse in certain aspects. I still like the game and I still play it. I learn to accept the changes and just continue to do what I enjoy. But this is the rants forum. Being a moderator, why should you take the rants away when this is what this board is for. Most rants are expected to remain at least somewhat realistic. As for the 'economy' being messed up, how is that Jagex's fault? Unlike in the real world, experience counts for far more then finished products; people spend millions on 99 smithing for XP, not money. That's the problem with games like this, driven by XP; there are far too many people who want 99 smithing, and a single 99 smither produces thousands upon thousands of semi-useful armor, like addy plates. If supply > demand, prices will decrease. Not jagex's fault; say what you want about the GE, this is for the most part a player-controlled economy.

Monastery was always the same. And I suggest you take a look at some of Jagex's diaries about the trade limit.

Range Haters United!
This wasn't a fight, but ending it is fine with me. I never said, thought, or hinted at you being an idiot; as I have said several times, I respect you and your ideas even if they differ from mine. Kudos to you on finding this site. And post count really doesn't affect me; what does 900 posts in forum games have anything to do with your intelligence? Also, I would recommend removing the 'age: 12' from your profile, as Tip.it requires that you agree to being 13 or over in order to create an account (As did Runescape at the time you signed up for Tip.it), and being underage tends to make other forum members look down on you. And yes, I'm a human. Hope that settles any doubts you had

See previous rants of mine. Strength bonus is king when it comes to monster hunting, though. Verac skirt + piety beats tassets badly though #-o

Fist of Guthix Noobs!!!!
This is assuming two things: 1) you have high enough mage to cast ice barrage and 2) you are playing on p2p. After 1 trip to p2p FoG, I realized that the only way to win for me was to go f2p. It's worked for me well enough so far. It was emphasis on the fact that you can easily beat low level players. You can beat them with a rune scimmy or whatever; the point is, they are low level and can be easily beat. Ignore works as well in FTP as PTP.
