  1. Because your supposed to at least know one of them? Try putting in a space or something random in the fields...
  2. Sir? I have nothing wrong with you; I haven't, nor do I plan to, attack you personally. All of my posts have been constructive and informative - all of yours have been you - guess what? - attacking me personally. I have no problem with debating with you if you wish to argue against any of my points; further whining about me posting will accomplish nothing whatsoever. I'm not going to 'leave this thread' just because you continue your angry and senseless tirades against me while completely ignoring what I say. Tip.it's gone down somewhat, but I think it has more to do with the price of becoming more popular then younger players coming over from the RSOF. What usually happens is that the meleers start praying range on you when your ripping them apart with bolts (especially if your using obstacles to your advantage. Easy enough to pray melee, but they have veracs and there's no range weapon that can hit through prayer. There are quite a few more range options for members vs. FTPers, FTP could use a bit more in the range\mage department. @everyone: I'm no mod, but could we at least try and limit the flaming\spam? It's making this thread hard to read, and will probably end in a lock...
  3. Only there for 'free mage XP'? Easy tokens for you. Low level opponents begging you to let them win? Ignore -> Ice barrage. Calling you a noob for being better then you at the game? Ignore. It takes 2 clicks. :P

330 employees. Assume 30 are assigned to bans. There are 6 million FTP, 1 million members. That's 7 million ACTIVE players, assumed to send in a report, say, once a week. That's 28 million reports a month, or 1 million per employee. Yeah, I'll bet there gonna spend a good long time thoroughly examining each and every report. Although I suppose ones from the people who report every little thing 26 times a day could be ignored, that's still an awful lot of reports. And I send in far more then 1 a week. 1 million per month per employee is 34,000 a day - 8 hour day = 70 reports a minute, more then one per second. Either they get a lot fewer reports then that (which I doubt), or they have to automate some of them. It's not really a surprise. My main surprise is that they can be so accurate; something like this is *questionably* mutable, but out of the millions of reports, virtually none are mishandled. I know that all of mine so far have been completely fair, and I can't count all of the times I said something, say it was starred out, that caused 8 people around me to go 'haha reported', but never an unfair ban. Once I did receive a questionable blackmark; I appealed it and it was repealed less then 20 minutes later. If I could say it any better than this, I would. Here's a stab at at least trying to give an alternate view. They constantly point out that over 1 million accounts have been created, and at the time of this post, 100 thousand active players. Last time I checked, there were under 100 customer support members. Short of Time Control, they can't give a thorough review to each and every report, especially since there are probably a lot of BS reports from players who never read the rules. The 1 million accounts created applies to members. There have been over 130 million FTP accounts created. However, only counting active accounts (logged on in the past week), when they broke 1 million members they mentioned 5 million active FTP, and I believe they said 6 million in a later newspost. If I walked into a police station and said 'sir, could you tell me the best way to assassinate the president'(USA) do you think I would be detained? Yes; I probably wouldn't be permanently punished, but some sort of questioning would probably occur. Similar to Jagex's very short term mute; nothing but a little hand slap.
  5. The max hit of ice barrage is 30, so you can "eat through" most of the spells easily using sharks and ko the mage with dds during the cooldown time of the freezing effect. But the max hit of mage is 50, and almost always hits. Your slash defence is over 250, so the dd++ probably won't land much, and you can freeze and continue to hit, healing from the hits so you barely have to eat.

I've never had a person say that you 'have' to do something. I have had someone tell me that I'm not doing it the right way - and MANY times I've told someone that they are not doing it the 'right' way. The right way is the fastest, most efficient way. I see no point in wasting time; if I can use +10% strength, and save, say, 10 minutes per hour at a cost of 20k - I'll do that! In those 10 minutes, I can make back over 100k, making superhuman strength MUCH more efficient (numbers randomly chosen for an example and not endorsed by me). I don't force people to choose a way; but if I see someone doing something a slow, hard way, I will try and inform them of a better way. That's me being polite, not trying to force my ways upon them. Time for a very stupid analogy, but slightly pertinent: If you saw an old lady looking discouragingly at a long flight of stairs she's about to climb, would you tell her about the elevator in back? Yeah, my analogy stunk. It conveys my point, though.
  7. When will people realize that the age of the pure is over? A range tank will decimate a pure in the mid level bh crater - he can hit 99 range and (at least close to) 99 defence. The pure's d scimmy is hardly going to hit, but those bolts can tear through even 97 defence (I speak from experience). Yes, at 133 combat, I have lost to 103 a maxed range tank. Yes, I was super setted with the best equipment and armor and vengeance. Yes, I lost twice in a row :-# There's just too much new equipment and armor to make a pure worthwhile. And if you choose not to train other skills, your not going to have full access to the game.. explorer's ring has a prayer bonus; naturally you have to train prayer for it.
  8. I love it. It makes for slightly hilarious one sided debates, similar to this one  Yeah... So is the OP ever going to come back and defend his thread?
  9. Frankly, I don't care about support. If you disagree with me, fine - I'll argue with you until the cows come home, and both of us will learn something from it. If you agree with me, that's nice - but doesn't teach either of us anything. I love a good debate, and unless someone actually provides reasons as to why I am wrong, I will continue to assume I am right :P
  10. The combat formula is quite simple; if your attack\strength add up to 1.5x your range\mage level, then they will determine your combat. Accordingly, range and mage only have .75x the effect on range level. If his strength and range were both 80, then his attack level had to be 40 or less for range to be determining his combat level; quite a fair formula. Rune is 40 defence also, but does not have any requirments in terms attack\strength levels; and the better range armor (karils\armadyl) both require 70+ defence and range. Range generally tends to deal slightly more damage then a meleer of the same level, but as a much higher cost. However, you don't know the defence levels behind it; you could be 80 defence, he could be 1, making his offensive power just as high as yours at lower combat levels. The other downside is the reduced defence of range armor; which makes the triangle between melee\range fairly well balanced; magic is the oddball, with certain highly useful situations and others not nearly as much. Cannon's accuracy, but not damage, increases with range level, unlike any other method of ranging. However, a cannon is VERY inefficient - it is only useful for a select few rich players on a select few slayer monsters. For everyday range training or killing, not so much. Magic and range both have multi attacks; however, ranges hit low and frequently hit zero, they can only hit 9 targets, the targets have to be closely bunched together and no larger then 1 square each, and it has to be multi combat. Magic's multi is very useful, but the cost and level requirements are what balance out the skill. You almost word-for-word described the D2H special, and to a lesser extent, the d hally. However, multi combat range\melee is generally not used often, due to other balancing factors mentioned previously. I wasn't 'invalidating', simply bringing up an alternate, better-backed viewpoint that disagrees with his. If he refutes mine, mine's the one that is invalidated - until I respond to his. It's called debating :P
  11. All my posts (except for the last) have been reasonable and contained useful, accurate information facilitating clear, though provoking discussion. I have stated my opinions, and why I believe them; I have also altered and accepted them. You, on the other hand, have come here, posted one not-well-thought-out rant about range, then continually posted whining about how I didn't agree with you, while I and several others debated the finer points of your rant. If you could show me where I stated that 'everyone eles sucks", I could try and change4 that. However, until you do that, I will be forced to conclude that you really don't know what your talking about, and either refuse to or cannot back up your rant against the points I have come up with. Your posts, not mine, have been pure, simple spam, contributing nothing whatsoever to the discussion. Feel free to post if you wish to discuss how range sucks, but do not continue to rant at me. The very same fate you so wisely warned us of in the first post may befall you. I have by no means killed the rant; I have simply brought up why I don't agree with what he is saying. If he wants to, he can explain why he believes I am incorrect, and so forth, making this an actual debate, not a 'wahh! you don't agree with me! stop posting on my threads!".

Afk'ish isn't really a smart thing to say in a game that bans AFK activitiy. A 24 hours mute is certainly understandable. 330 employees. Assume 30 are assigned to bans. There's only 20 monsters; it's bound to get repetitive around the 50,000th What's so bad about it? Unless they are flaming you or calling you a noob for what your doing (which is flaming plain and simple, not related to slayer), they are simply trying to help. 'this way is better'? 'that way is bad'? I've said both of those things upon occasion, trying to help some poor soul killing ankous complete with full rune and scimmy (I'm a member). Your way is stuipd? That's approaching flaming, but that's not a problem specific to slayer. You can do it your way - but there might be another, much faster way that's worth at least listening to. Anyone who calls you a noob should be promptly ignored, although barrows armor IS better. The 8k repair cost per hour is minuscule; I just bought and sold bandos (well, the tassets... the plate went on a 24 hour loan to a friend before it's dumped in the GE at min), and I hated it. It had low defence, no prayer bonus, and didn't really do much to my max hit. Yeah, it was fun smacking 51s on monkey zombies with my whip, but I had to renew prayer far more often, which was a huge inconvenience, plus the fact that the armor was still slowly falling, losing me money every day. Plus barrows has huge prayer bonuses; proslyte top and verac skirt will get you good defence and amazing prayer bonus. So yeah, using barrows on an 'easy task' doesn't make you a noob, as you so handily pointed out - directly contradicting your earlier post. #-o
  14. Apparently, the biggest factor is how long you've been outside of a safe zone, especially in a hot zone. That appears to be the main factor in determining the 'impressiveness' of the kill.

What? Jagex shows plenty of common sense. They have a great, rapidly expanding game, with average (not great) customer support due to the sheer number of players, especially FTP. The fact that he got a very short term mute for discussing rule breaking doesn't mean that Jagex isn't using 'common sense'; it's people, not some mass cooperation. People probably older and wiser then virtually all of the RS population. A post like that is almost spam, and the OP even more so. The very fact that you play runescape shows that they have plenty of sense, although I'm sure you mean this as a joke :P Almost.
  16. Why not? Oh, and if you want to start some sort of range hating clan that refuses to talk to all those who support range, the rants forum isn't quite the place. :wall: I am ranting what I do not like about somthing and seeing what other people have to say about it. I am not starting a topic for people to critsize everything anyone not like them says. I am not critisizeing everyone not like me I am only critiszeing the person who is posting non stop here. Please, you have made you point 15 different times so you do not need to post here anymore. And don't take this as a chance to say that you can post wherever you want because I understand that. Its just that all of your posts after your first have been almost pointless. My posts have not been pointless; in fact, they have been the exact opposite, unlike your own. You posted some problems you had with range; I posted about why I believed they were not problems. Then you went off on an irrelevant tangent about how people shouldn't post if they don't agree with you. This is the real world, where not everyone agrees with you, and freedom of speech is an inalienable right. A forum is for discussion, not saying 'I'm right and everyone else is wrong, and I refuse to let them say they disagree with me". My posts have been valid, if somewhat impersonal - they are discussing, and in some cases refuting, important points brought up in discussion about your original posts. Your posts, on the other hand, have been nothing but spam, contributing nothing to the discussion and doing nothing but whining about how other people don't agree with you, even though you can't say anything against them. I have nothing wrong with you disagreeing with me; however, I do have a problem with you saying I cannot post anything that disagrees with you. If you can say something constructive, instead of hypocritically flaming me, feel free to post it - but until then, I will continue this discussion. Thank you. Cordially yours, ~DeviledEgg24

http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=592020 Probably due to your AFK comment. Not that reasonable, but understandable at least, especially if the convo is only skimmed.
  18. Why not? Oh, and if you want to start some sort of range hating clan that refuses to talk to all those who support range, the rants forum isn't quite the place. :wall:
  19. You do realize, of course, that mage armor has higher melee defence then ranger armor? This means that not only are mages far superior to rangers in offensive power, they have more defence too! Plus they can freeze, poison, reduce stats, heal off of, teleblock etc. They have a huge advantage over melee.
  20. Put it in the GE and invest. Do bork every day. Put 1.5m in MTK and update favor every 3-4 days. Get the levels for varock diary 3, and do battlestaffs every day. Then watch the money roll in. Then do whatever you find enjoyable while your constant income keeps you from worrying about money, until one day you realize you have 50m more in your bank then you thought you did. It's what I'm doing :P
  21. Myth. Due to meleers generally not being properly aligned and forced to take a step backwards or forwards to attack, putting them at a significant disadvantage. Whoever The 3k ground limit took care of this. Plus the accumulator.
  22. Ehh... Zombie's 100k XP + 185k profit + lots of charms pretty much breaks slayers rates. Nechs is one of the faster tasks, and piety really helps rates, but your still not getting 100k per hour, and the slower tasks drag the XP down to 60k.
  23. People make ~3m because they pwn so much. They will definetely drop though. 3m is just too much for 15 minutes, for almost anyone - they could just get corrupted instead. Which also happens to be dropping like a rock :P
  24. I wouldn't recommend point farming, just use Sumona. If you really want to train strength, your stuck with a d scimmy\SS; I'm not sure that berserker necklace stacks with slayer helm. Training controlled with whip\defender would be best. I would plan on getting piety as soon as possible - it's handy in many situations, and really helps with slayer if you can master prayer switching. Duradel could be done around 100-110 combat, but from 100+ you should always be using him for 10th, 50th, 100th etc. If you have to get guthans, but using the money on 68 summoning would be a much better investment; you waste a ton of time trying to heal with guthans, with a terrible weapon, controlled XP, and no slayer helm.
  25. Ok, thanks for not getting mad when criticized, I hate people that flip out because you say they might be wrong :? I don't know if we can value numbers from different games, but the end result is quite simple - in both real world tests and mathematical comparisons, d scimmy carries the day, and depending on your click speed, can be better or worse then d long for switching to dd++ for a KO weapon. But since d scimmy can deal more damage per minute, it's kind of a moot point.
