  1. If you make 400k or less per hour, a cannon isn't worth it except for bloodvelds, which are BARELY. See 'slayer sucks' for more details, if you want to read though the 800+ pages of replies, including 300+ of my own. No one to argue against now, though :wall: How many you use will be COMPLETELY dependent upon what tasks you plan to cannon.
  2. Nope, no loss of round when helms are used. It's their unique advantage. And for jad, if you go with a 99 veng (after sara brewed HP) and triple 45 from g maul and use miasmic barrage (possible if you use a macro for your dd++ spec), you can get: 32-45-45-45-74-10 = 251 damage, 1 hit KO. The_murder21, are you listening?
  3. Muggi isn't around much anymore, sadly. No, I know monks take the usual time. I haven't heard about the first piece of pizza, but I'll try it - I don't think so though. As for the brew + shark thing, it used to be you could drink a potion and eat food in the same short timing without losing any time, but that was fixed. Yes, that's enough - another even more powerful combo is swapping a dark bow for the dd++, and void for the ahrims (although your magic bonus will be smaller). Combos of 26-48-48 are possible. Vengance is hard to time right, but say your opponent hit you for a 96 with DH as you hit him with d bow and blitz and you were wearing a recoil ring, you could (theoretically) hit 26+48+48+10+76 = 208 damage in a single hit. If you swapped a granite maul for the dark bow, you could get even higher with a 45-45-45, but a g maul doesn't work that well - too many zeros. Still some great combos, though. Yes, just one spell Combat scrolls delay 1 round, all others don't.
  4. It's the spirit graahk. With 50-75 rc, you can craft about 2400 essence per hour, making about 170k profit/hour if you calculate in the cost of graahks/super energies, and getting about 22k rc xp. I used zmi recently for 72-73, and I didn't think it was all that good. About 30k rc xp/hour and like 80k profit/hour. These figures will probably be lower for you. If you have a good source of income besides rc, just do zmi. If not, craft natures using a graahk. At 65, deaths become better than the graahk at about 20k xp/hour and 240k profit. ZMI = 30k XP\80k profit per hour. Deaths = 20k XP\240k profit 10k XP for 160k cost 20 minutes at ZMI will get the 10k XP plus a further 27k profit So your losing 20 minutes to earn 133k profit If you make 400k+ per hour with alternate methods (Avansies is 400k plus a bunch of range XP, for example.. GWD is closer to 1m), ZMI is better then deaths. At 81 astrals become better, assuming the market is OK and they sell.
  5. Alrighty, this is right up my alley - I've been trying out combos in the fight pits for ages (see aviator for one of my decent ones, I usually miss the screenies...) Two quick answers: Yes, it is possible to deal over 99 damage in one hit, and yes, combos general takes some practice. No, you don't have to have a low lag connection to do these successfully - you just have to know how much you lag, and adjust everything accordingly. The combo is ice blitz + shadow barrage. The farther away you are from the player the better; around 6-7 squares is ideal. Ice blitz has a huge delay between the casting and the hitting, and it increases the farther away you are. Shadow barrage hits almost instantly, about halway through the 'bend-down-and-throw-up-arms' animation. So, if you are far enough away from the player to delay the ice blitz hit a little over 3 seconds, you can hit him with shadow barrage at the exact same time - freezing him and reducing his attack, plus dealing up to 50 damage. Mage's most effective KO shot. Muggi has some good screenshots + info on this one. Yes, it most certainly is (avatar is an example). The best combo is blitz + dd++ spec. The key is to have ahrims on, with defender and DD++ in attack position with spec and piety turned on. Stand around 7 squares away from the victim, cast the blitz spell on him, and IMMEDIATELY after you cast it click on him to attack. You will finish casting the spell then 'glitch run' over to him and spec him the moment the spell hits - it's possible to beat the blitz hit if your fast. If you use spell swap and vengeance with this one, you can get even higher KOs; I had one case of comboing a level 118 where he ags specced me just as I hit for around 60, and with the vengeance and combo he was instantly killed. Unfortunately, if your timing is off, you will only see 2 hits on the screen, one from one of the dd++ specs and the other from the ice blitz. You will still hit it, and your opponent's HP will fall accordingly, but you can't see it. Eating without using a combat round. This addresses the basic timing difference between potions and food - food takes nearly .4 seconds longer to eat, making you lose a combat round. Potions, if drunk just as your weapon animation starts (as you raise your hand to draw your whip back, for example), may result in animation glitches, but you won't lose any combat rounds. This requires careful knowledge of your connection\computer lag - you have to know how soon before you hit to drink it. Practice makes perfect. Unfortunately, the potion-food glitch was removed almost a year ago, but you still have two options. The most popular one is sara brews, but this requires restore potions making it impractical for super set situations. That leaves the best food as cooked karambwan - the only eatable food that only takes a potion's time to eat! It heals 18 hp, and if eaten as you would a potion (just before you start to hit), you won't miss a single hit. Vengance, the facts. If you cast it, it will kick at the first attack that hits you from a player or NPC that is attackable. It will reflect between 0 and 3/4ths the damage dealt by the players attack, usually in the 1/2-3/4ths range. It can only be casted every 30 seconds, but like most other lunar spells, this one does NOT delay combat. You can cast it at any time without delaying your hits. Unfortunately, if you are venged and your opponent hits a KO hit on you that kills you, you will do the 'Taste Vengance!' and lose your veng, but the damage will NOT reflect back on your opponent. It helps with combos, but spellbook swap takes 3 seconds a cast, wasting a full combat round. This makes it better for casting vengeance then spell swapping THEN initiating combat by attacking with a spell and casting vengeance again. Vengeance will last until you log out or do something that would reset your stats (winning a fight in the duel arena, for example). The only exception is when you heal and pray at the duel arena healers. Vengeance will give you a HUGE advantage in PVP. I love fight pits (1.5m tokul) and other combat minigames, and I always use vengeance. Frequently you can get 3-4 venges in per fight, and often half the damage the player hits you for will be reflected right back at him! It works wonders on AGS speccers too - the slower the weapon your opponent uses, the better. Hope this helps, post any more questions you have and I'll try to get back.
  6. Out of curosity, where did the 100k number come from? :? Yeah, obviously skill capes; they do look much better, but I still want a fire cape. That +4 strength and the completion of my range tanking outfit gives it a big advantage over my (better looking) magic cape.
  7. The whole point of a debate is for both parties to get their opinions out, and to have them be heard. *cough rants section cough* but i see the debate it sprawled into... All good rants do that, although this one is too opinion instead of fact based. As for the last one, I'm not sure why your underling my words. I'm simply saying that his point, although valid, doesn't apply to this rant.
  8. See, the OP is complaining about immature noobs that just care about themselves and want to get 99s as fast as possible, not new players who don't know as much about the game. Your point is fair, though - but I'd guess that 5 weeks of PTP would teach them more about PTP armor\weapons then 5 weeks FTP.
  9. *sigh* I believe Player A will be more mature. I do not, however, believe either player will be more physically mature. This is a pointless suggestion. I CLEARLY know that sitting down at a computer and playing an online game does NOT make you mature physically at a greater speed. Physical maturity is all based off of biological factors. I understand this; I wasn't born yesterday. Hence my sarcasm. I suppose it all just got tangled up, because you seem to be talking about physical maturity, while I'm talking about emotional maturity. I was talking about both, so I guess it was a double misunderstanding. You have your opinions, I have mine, now that that is straight. I still believe that you won't mature any faster in FTP vs PTP, not that 5 weeks is going to make a huge difference. RS isn't going to make a large impact on your emotional (or physical) maturity IMO.
  10. The whole point of a debate is for both parties to get their opinions out, and to have them be heard. I disagree with you. But you're refusing to see my view as valid. I'm not wrong just because I disagree with you. Just because they're different than yours doesn't mean my facts aren't straight. I believe that playing F2P for an extended period of time prior to signing up for P2P does cut back on the level of immaturity within the member servers. People don't have to agree with my opinion, but they should certainly accept that it is a valid one. I wasn't talking about your opinion, I was talking about what you thought mine was. My argument was this, for the 3rd time: Player A plays for 5 weeks as FTP, then signs up for PTP Player B plays for 5 weeks as PTP Now, which one is more mature? Is player A suddenly going to be much more physically mature because he was FTP instead of PTP? You sarcastically said that you 'didn't know that you had to play runescape to mature', which was exactly the opposite of what I said; assuming, as you pointed out, that it was sarcasm, you agreed completely with me yet tried to argue.
  11. It will, mods are slow in rants :-# I hardly think 'Your user name really isn't increasing respect; your name is how you present yourself to the outside world.' really counts for flaming and spamming. ;)
  12. ^^ Even 'non perverted' people may be aware of the existence of the 'f word' and 'nuts', resulting in the, noticing it. Doesn't mean they are perverts or looking for it; it's sitting there staring them in the face. Maybe it's just more obvious for me, as I have a touch of dyslexia. I doubt it, though.
  13. Geyser titan's special move raises your actual level by 1+3%, just like range pot, when you talk to him and ask him to raise it. In my case, it raised my range level from 96/96 to 100/96; it will stack just like a range pot. I assume you thought it was an invisible (and thus stackable) bonus?
  14. The last line of my post was 400% sarcasm. /debate on that. I see no point in continuing this. We clearly aren't getting our points through to each other clearly. By that (obviously) sarcastic line, you inferred that I was saying that playing RS would make you older, the exact point I was arguing against. I'll state my point again: Being FTP instead of PTP isn't going to do anything to the rate you mature at. Therefore, players becoming PTP 5 weeks earlier wouldn't do anything to the average maturity of RS players. It's fine with me if you want to end this debate, but get your facts straight.
  15. So I have to make a name with a mature attitude in mind? Hell it's just a name, get over yourself. If my name isn't "respectable" enough for you, ignore any posts made by me, to be perfectly honest I don't care for your opinion about how immature my name happens to be... Gahhh, considering this has gone way off-topic (and it was a bug anyway) could a person with power please lock/trash this thread. Thank You  I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume that in the several years that TT were out you were the only one out of millions of people to discover it instead of saying you lied. As for the name, I'm not saying it isn't mature enough for me; I'm simply saying a name like that in a PG forum WILL make people assume your an immature, attention seeking teen, and thus respect you and your posts less. Simple fact of life; present yourself as mature and intelligent, and people will treat you as such. Present yourself as a young teen in the 'swearing every other word so people think im cool' stage, and you won't get much respect.
  16. What kind of a complaint is that :S My name being too "immature" Sorry but I didn't know you had to not swear/have a proper name to become part of your "mature" group  If that's your logic I would rather not follow it because I find that... well pathetic to say the least. Yes, because names like 'nucking futs' really illustrated how old and mature you are. I'm sorry you find that pathetic. ^ Yeah that would be good, just like MM. Especially if they made it very costly. Clues would be even less worth it; unless you make very low amounts of money it isn't even nowdays. I just drop clues if I get a puzzle; it doesn't happen too often with the 7 task per clue limit.
  17. Yeah, the max tasks for a level 3 clue happen to be 7. So I would file this under 'bugs and suggestions'. Your user name really isn't increasing respect; your name is how you present yourself to the outside world. You might consider making a new account with a more mature name.
  18. No, it probably wouldn't. Freedom of speech rules. As long as the post wasn't offensive and contained valid information, the mods should (and probably would) let it stay open.
  19. Excuse me? Since when does Runescape teach 'accepted, mature behavior', and how is a week or two of FTP going to change that? It's a simple matter of physical changes in the human body, with the brain maturing and judgment improving. I really don't think 'quicker to become members' is a huge reason, unless people were waiting a few years for themselves to mature before becoming PTP :| :o This is shocking! You mean... you mean... I'll still grow older and more mature even if I don't play RS?! This is life-changing. To think, the entire time I was playing the game, I thought that I would stay forever young if I didn't get in my daily game play! :wall: I was talking about behavior within the game. You can be a very mature person in real life, yet still show imature behavior while playing Runescape! I wasn't really talking about people being mature in real life. What I was getting at was this: if you're new to the game, you're more likely going to run around asking people for free stuff, standing there and continually shouting "Anyone help plz anyone help plz," obnoxiously following higher-level players around, etc. etc. THIS is a sign of imaturity within the game. If you play for a few months or so, you're more likely to learn what's accepted (aka, NOT asking everyone with an orange-tinted level for 'free stuffz') behavior, and what is not. More and more people are becoming members right off the bat, and hence, we are all experiencing their imature behavior while they learn the ropes of the game. It's still so shocking... I can't believe I'll really grow older even if I don't play RS... I'm assuming you completely and utterly failed to comprehend my post, based on your last line. My point was: Being FTP instead of PTP isn't going to do anything to the rate you mature at. And I wasn't talking about asking for free stuff; I haven't seen that in months in members. I'm talking about immature behavior. I consider it unlikely that a mature, reasonable adult is suddenly going to say 'dud i got mre ballz then u haha noob rofl', then after a few months of playing FTP instead of PTP learn to be a mature person in RS too.
  20. Different stats do different things. If you have low attack, you'll still do fine against someone with low defence. But if you tried to use that low attack on someone in high defence with GOOD armor, you would fail miserably. Tell me, how does that relate to what I said? I said: - In no armour fights, strength comes out on top, no comparison - In full (rune) armour fights, strength STILL comes out on top, even against someone with a high attack. Maybe you didn't understand my example. I fought Y Guy, both using full rune and an inventory of tuna. I ran his food supply out and killed him with around 7-8 food still left. I KNOW this is only just one example but its not as if I only just beat him, there was a very clear margin. Or perhaps you forgot to read my post before responding to it. He had low defence\high attack - you had medium attack, low defence. His high attack didn't provide that much of an advantage, due to your low defence, but his low defence suffered terribly due to your high strength and medium attack. If you tried to face someone with high defence\medium strength\low attack, you would fail miserably with your defence. A balanced character would do the best in a variety of situations. On the contrary, I find the balanced characters do the worst. Pick out your average newbie -- they will have average stats yet they suck at PvP (even with good equipment). I think another example is in order :o I fought:Svander, stats 99/71/99 with my stats: 86/92/80 in a full armour deathmatch. I must say, I got rather lucky and beat him by ~5-10hp. If I tried again I'd probably lose but it would still be quite close. Still, at 5 combats lower than him and considering h e has 2 melee 99s and I have none, it just goes to show how overpowered strength is in combat. I would also love to hear any experiences that show that Strength is on par with Attack and Defence. First of all, a single deathmatch is completely and utterly meaningless. I've 3 hit level 138s without taking any damage in a single deathmatch. Does that mean my stats are far superior to theirs? No, it means that 3 of my hits were better then theirs Even admitting you 'got lucky' in a deathmatch means you don't really know what would normally have happened; how do you know it would still be 'quite close'? PVP tends to be quite random; hence why I've gotten owned by 100- players many times before. I've had my fair share of PVP combat experience, with over 150 hours logged in castle wars and 700 hours and 1.4m tokul in fight pits, ~140 hours in clan wars, and several different PVP accounts in the old wilderness. If you hit your opponent less then 50% of the time, attack is more important then strength; simple mathematics.
  21. A few Weeks? I believe i stayed in non members for about 5 months, after that time i decided i wasn't going to get a whole lot better if i wasn't a member. One thing i do remeber though is that whenever a member appeared innon members, they would always be polite and couteous. No matter how many "Zomgfgjbfo!!!222 whats r thet pl8!??!?!" they would always answer in a simple and nice way. Thats how i learnt what was accepted generally by the community. So 5 months of FTP instead of members taught you moral values, respect, and maturity not only in runescape but the forums and any other facet of runescape? We should inform doctors of this new method of speeding frontal lobe development, which usually doesn't reach full maturity until 25 years of age or older. Amazing what playing FTP instead of PTP can do. :wall: FTP isn't going to make you more mature any more then PTP is. So saying that the community is gone downhill because people become members faster is completely wrong.
  22. Pretty much the point already covered by compfreak, and more or less what I wanted out of this topic. It would be nice to have a more visible, easily measured effect, tho. I don't always count the times I deal damage over how many times I get hit, etc. So failing to notice the subtle changes in that respect is a little more understandable. I know it takes a while to see that number on your max hit go up, but it's still easy to see when it does. Keeping track of damage dealt vs. damage taken, gets a little more involved then I would like just to be able to tell something changed. But what were you looking for? Me saying that attack\strength have an effect on your combat? :?
  23. Excuse me? Since when does Runescape teach 'accepted, mature behavior', and how is a week or two of FTP going to change that? It's a simple matter of physical changes in the human body, with the brain maturing and judgment improving. I really don't think 'quicker to become members' is a huge reason, unless people were waiting a few years for themselves to mature before becoming PTP :|
  24. Umm.. Excuse me, but what?
  25. True you did not say anything about F2P being stuck up scum, but I've seen many members treat us as such. All I was saying that I'm tired of that happening. I'm not accusing you of calling us anything. Also, you contradict yourself by saying that F2P does not benefit Jagex, but in turn say that we "probably barely cover server costs". Generating ANY sort of revenue, no matter how small, would be beneficial to Jagex "as a company"... Plus, I'm sure Jagex doesn't have have ONLY one goal, which is to make us Members. FTP does not benefit Jagex. What about 'barely covering server costs' don't you understand? There's far more costs to a game then servers. What about customer support? With 130x the accounts, I'm betting that FTP results in far more abuse reports that have to be dealt with. And what other goals would they have besides to make money by having you become a member? They probably aren't doing it out of the goodness of their hearts.
