  1. Several years ago, a player with low defence\high attack and strength (otherwise known as a "pure") had an advantage in KOing ability due to a lack of high level armor\weapons. Ever since barrows armor etc. came out, a balanced player is much better, but word hasn't reached the pure community yet. Hence why some players still have low defence.
  2. True. But a balanced played is at a disadvantage against say, someone with 90 90 70 stats, or some mix in that area. Balanced players are pretty weak all in all, just pures are weaker and simply own because people are too stupid or too cheap to wear what's required to beat them. Well... actually, I used the combat calculator on this site, and a 90, 90, 70 pure is equivilant to a 85, 85, 85 balanced, doesn't seem like much of a disadvantage to me... (I'm excludeing prayer on both sides and they are both combat level 97) Yeah, the 85-85-85 will win by far. As you scale up even higher, that 99-99-45 pure that seems like such a great idea will meet a nasty death at the hands of an 87-87-87 player in torag's dd++. Been there, done that. DD++ won't hit that much on 87 defence + torags, but 45 defence and rune = 2-3 specced.
  3. I have a few suggestion for you. First of all, actually look something up so you can back up your facts before making inane statements. I suggest looking at Qeltar's monster slayer database. For starters you might want to read my 'slayer sucks' thread; I believe you will find this topic absolutely killed in the 800 or so pages of replies. Second of all, I wouldn't stoop to flaming someone as an argument (Although that's sort of what I'm doing :wall: ).At the rates that most people earn money - and how infrequently they do it - a cannon is NOT worth using. Slayer, using a cannon and piety for most tasks, will result in a SIGNIFICANT loss of cash. A cannon is fun and helpful for slaying - BUT NOT WORTH USING FOR THE VAST MAJORITY OF PLAYERS. Don't go making stupid statements without any facts whatsoever. Go right ahead and read my thread - even the last 5 pages (~300 pages in text) of it deal with cannon usage, with actual facts and sources INCLUDING personal testing. I look forward to arguing with you after you finish reading it. You can take ydraisl's place.

NO SUCH THING AS LUCK!!!! (Clan chat plawx) Anyway, 30 boss kills are nothing... You shouldn't even expect armor within the first 100-150 kills. It took me 390 sara kills for a sara sword, then a hilt 11 kills later and another SS in 40 kills. Bandos was a ton of drops bunched together, then 900 dry kills (a streak I haven't broken yet). Barrows was a 190 dry streak, ahrims hood, 124 dry, ahrim's staff, 78 dry - then a huge rush of 30m+ in drops in the next 100 runs. Random though it may seem, it's all probability - with a large enough sample set (think billions or trillions) it will average out. If you flip a coin 100 trillion times, you will get something like 49.99999999% heads and 50.00000001% tails (In reality, a coin has a higher chance of landing on heads due to increased metal cantaleavered farther out on that side, something like 5 out of a thousand), but you get the idea. You can still roll 10 heads in a row (chances are 0.0009765625%), but in the long run it WILL average out.
  5. 74kitten :? I spelled them out as they would have stood out\been easy to find if they weren't. That way even if someone hit ctrl+f and looked for 287 in my post they would still be forced to read the entire thing. Fun is obviously an opinion that I can't truely argue with, and I'd like to think that me and ydraisl have stomped through enough of the numbers to verify everything. This thread had been quiet after he left, I didn't check it until Death PMed me and it showed up in my inbox. Interesting argument about total levels; I think I had expanded somewhat on it in one of my replys. Basically anything that couldn't imaginably be covered in the first post has been drug around and stomped into the ground in the replys. I liked slayaer, but I was actually losing a lot of money with a cannon and piety for tasks, so I've slowed down somewhat. I'm close to maxing out melees anyway, I'll probably get 85 and call it quits for combat. It's true that new items can cause people to make millions. The thing that really got me slaying was d boots, which of course have dropped to the point where they are no longer worth doing -.- . New things are just ruined so fast, and I'm usually not one to go try and get something within the first days of release (I probably should, I hear the drop rates are higher for the first week... Rumor of course) except for the time I tried for a visage. Which I got in around 100 iron drags at a time when my bank worth was far less then what I sold it for 8-) I finally got Comcast hooked up, no more DCing or lag from dial up. I'm happy, I can get back to GWD finally and beef up the bank some...
  6. Since no one else here apparently has tried it, I'll post. It's the method I use. First off, I use a unicorn, which means I can basically wear anything from full bandos to jester outfit and still not worry about food. I use void + zammy book, but you might want to sub a zammy kite, as my range defence bonus is in the 80s. It works very, very well. I use +10% range and a saradomin stole, averaging almost 300 kills per hour. I tried a saradomin cloak\fury, but the lack of accumulator was too much of a pain.
  7. Range void is handy, melee does what it says on the tin. +10% to accuracy and damage. how have jagex made mistake?
  8. Your only level 65? I'd suggest testing this out a bit more before posting.
  9. The whole forum appears to be headed this way. Instead of old, established posters making thoughtful posts and staying around for years, we have posters coming in for a few months with semi-worthless posts before leaving. It's scaring me, honestly. I know it's discrimination, but I'd like to filter posts based on post count. Leaving the forums and community altogether seems kind of drastic though...
  10. People like to take the 'helpless' stance, saying they can't make money and beg for someone to help them. Pretty soon they believe it themselves. Obviously they make basically nothing with the trade limit etc., but half of them will say they have 'no way to make money' despite the fact that there are hundreds, if not thousands of methods that they could use which would be far better then begging.
  11. I've heard tell of jad, general graador, and metal dragons before. Consider yourself fairly lucky :P
  12. Server went down, it happens. All sorts of weird glitches pop up. Wait an hour or two and it should be back to normal. Rare occasion; last one I can remember was almost a year ago.
  13. Right click public chat -> friends Right click offensivenoob (level 93) -> Add Ignore
  14. I had forgotten about that sleep pattern. Supposedly 2-3 hours is sustainable; I usually get 5, but that's in a single shot. I'd like to try it some time, but it would conflict with a lot of schedules. I still think carefully selected P mods could help with this, despite the hate that everyone has apparently built up for them. I always leave chat on and always respond immediately to anyone for fear of getting banned :-#
  15. Mining coal isn't a good way to make money - he'd be better off making money a good way like Avansies then mining part of his own ores. How much do you earn per hour? If it's over 370k or so, do gold bars. Otherwise superheat addy or make bolts, I hear they sell really well at the moment.
  16. It's about time Jagex started giving out more crowns. Complain as much as you like about em, they help, and I haven't seen one in... months. I hadn't noticed this, but I do remember it from days at the fishing guild.

I've had one for several months, liked it, then finally sold it. It's a decent spec, but VASTLY overrated. The ~8 hp a minute from spec is somewhat helpful, but not that life changing. Only get it if it's really handy for stuff you do often, otherwise save the money.
  18. Does this work on vista with RSHD? Most screenshot programs just give a black screen. That's why I use fraps, but it'd be nice to have a good free one...
  19. Conspiracy: A group of conspirators banded together to achieve some harmful or illegal purpose Jagex seeking to give rangers an advantage by letting them get monsters first, irregardless of who attacked the monster first, comes awfully close to a 'conspiracy'. Sounds a lot like some 911 and Holocaust theory I have heard. Or, it could just be that you don't position yourself alone one of the 'shadow lines' of the monster, and thus have to move to attack it, giving ranger a large advantage. There's a few more explanations then 'TEH JAGIXERZ LOVE DA RNGERZ' My 'latency theory' is me saying that connection latency isn't as big of a factor compared to human reaction times. Please read my posts before posting such nonsense. Your not saying there is a priority? Then what are you saying? Years of observation by many people? All I've seen so far is you and a couple of other people in this thread complaining about rangers getting monster before them, while I've never had any problem getting monsters before rangers. This happens to be an argument about facts, not personal opinions. Personal attack won't help you out. It makes the conversation easy to follow and allows a point-by-point discussion on a post. Would you at least try to argue logically? I'm stating my opinion, and trying to back it up. Attacking me personally certainly isn't going to work.
  20. Nope, no loss of round when helms are used. It's their unique advantage. And for jad, if you go with a 99 veng (after sara brewed HP) and triple 45 from g maul and use miasmic barrage (possible if you use a macro for your dd++ spec), you can get: 32-45-45-45-74-10 = 251 damage, 1 hit KO. The_murder21, are you listening? Lol, was also thinking about The_murder21. If anyone would pull it off, it's him. Man, if he really succeeds... You'd need A LOT of luck though. (4 hits of you have to be max, and Jad has to max too + good timing). Yeah, that would just plain take too many tries. In non fight pits though, you could work some steel titan combos in - 24-24-24-24 = 96 damage (coincidence that his max is the highest possible under 99 hp? I think not) for 347 damage in a single shot - the chances are ridiculously low, though. At the other two posters: The best spot to practice is clan wars. You have dozens of people ready to attack just standing around. And fishy, I see someone else reads failblog too
  21. Really? No, no, it couldn't be anything simple like, the ranger clicking on the monster first. It must be Jagex favoring rangers in their coding. Look, this isn't particle physics. When in doubt, go for the simplest explanation. I rarely, if ever, lose a monster to rangers thanks to fast clicking and low lag. It's not some Jagex conspiracy against meleer and magers. Simple enough?
  22. Personally attacking a user for several posts about something irrelevant to the dicussion is flamming aswell as spamming. If you had been a responsible user you would have simply reported the post, and kept on topic, which you obviously have not. This topic has not been locked yet, proves that you in fact did not report this post at all, aswell as the fact none of the posts on this thread are shown as "already reported". This applies to me aswell of course, however I have absolutely no patience for arrogant users such as yourself from whom I have never read any constructive post ever on this forum. And now, I am reporting this topic and getting it locked. I simply stated an opinion in a non offensive manor at the end of my post. How he took that is his own opinion. I'm sorry you've never found any of my posts useful. Yeah, this topic could use a lock, it's degenerating into spam posts like this one. Mods are slow in rants :|

BUT WHICH ONE IS RAPID AND WHICH ONE IS ACCURATE. Darkness is all arrows below dragon, dragons is dragon arrows. Accurate is more accurate, rapid is faster. Both have the same max hit.
  24. I'd recommend Aberrant Spectres also. It's not 400k. It actually ranges from 150k-300k, if I remember correctly. It's at least 400k for all tasks besides blodvields, some of them far over 400k. That means that if you make less then 400k per hour, it will take more time to make up the money spent using a cannon then it will save, slowing your XP rates. I really don't know how many c balls you would use, though. I go through maybe 1.6k per task for dags an 1.3k per kalphites (very rough) I've never used over 1k cballs for a task. I don't know what your talking about. My last task of 199 blodvields used almost 2k, and my daggy tasks are usually close.
