  1. We already are pressuring them with this kind of economical war and when we support Israel, they need to boost their defence. No country can just sit down with their hands in pockets while their neightbour (who they have had problems with) gets more and more technological weapons and already has nukes aimed at your cities. I'm worried about nukes in general, not just some Iranian having a handful of them. With them he can't destroy even 1 single continent while many countries can destroy this whole planet multiple times. For directly to USA, Iran isn't any kind of a threat with nuclears. No, with their currently missile technology you won't see Pearl Harbour2 unless they manage to leak the missile directly to your country. Of course this would set limits to the size of the bomb and would be more than risky as even when failed it would be an end of the story for Iran. Ever heard of populism? He's telling what the people want to hear and same time spread the fear. If they really were that suicidial, they wouldn't give out that kind of statements which could risk their whole project and most likely we would have seen Israel&USA vs Iran ages ago which was fought till the dirty end.
  2. Point being that if USA goes against Iran, they need more soldiers than they currently have and need many allies from Europe. We already saw how Europe divided during the Iraq episode and that dividation could become much bigger if we'd went for Iran: as an enemy Iran would be much worse than Iraq and thus cause more casualties. Even with Iraq the goverment of USA tried to pressure European countries to go with them but how strictly would they try to pressure against even greater enemy? With actions like this, it's not a miracle they are expanding their army and getting new and stronger weapons. We already got one country in the Near East that has nuclear weapons, we've seen too many wars there and current pressure at least doesn't help the situation. Many other countries also laugh at human rights, yet they are allies with USA. Just take a look at Israel for example. Also with USA's current situation, human rights isn't the first thing they'd care about. Official story might be different, but heck if they can even kidnap european citizens during their vacations and torture them, they aren't the first ones to talk about human rights. Currently we majority of people believe that the only way to defend against nuclear weapons is to have them. That also has been part of the official doctrine of USA and reason why certain countries have bought nuclear weapons. If we want to get rid of them, we can't just try to stop certain countries getting them while others can expand their storages. That doesn't bring us closer to a nuclear free future, it infact is taking steps to worse direction. Countries like North Korea, India or Pakistan have build theirs mainly because that's the easiest way to stop their enemies (holy trinity of China, Pakistan and India or North Korea vs USA) to use them against them. If we want to avoid nuclear weapons being used, we don't just stop their spreading. We need to also get rid of at least the most of current ones and put the last ones into a stage where they can't be immediately launched, but can be soon built again to keep up the fear. When The Soviet Union broke down and Russia was weak, it would have been a good time to reduce the amount of nukes to a level where the reduces would actually been worth something. We missed that opportunity and now we're paying the price in North Korea and Iran. edit: Iran is all the time under pressure from countries like Israel and USA, both having their own nuclear weapons. To avoid being nuked, they are building theirs. At media they can say anything about destroying Israel, but not even them would commit a that kind of a suicide. Btw when did they threat your country? Here's a source to their mission technology. No, even if they managed to build few nukes, they wouldn't be that big threat to USA or UK with these missiles. First of all their range isn't too big, 2nd their technology isn't too stable. However even a failed attempt (failed due a technical failure) to nuke right places is the easiest way to get destroyed. Iran nows this for sure. http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/iran/missile/ 2nd edit: Also going against Iran now in a militarical way would be a sign of idiotism. USA doesn't have enough troops to open a new front against an enemy that's a lot stronger than Iraq&Afghanistan together. Also with the current atmosphere in many European countries, getting enoug allies wouldn't be that easy either.
  3. Probably more than just few, but if it turns out to be a succesful and morally accepted by the majority of americans, it might have destructive affects in future. We've seen too many dictators getting to power that has gone through an economical crisis. Weapons of mass destruction were one theme why troops were sent there and still far too many people even at these boards hail George for stopping Hussein's plans. However the political pressure to some countries that were against the war was pretty harsh. How would the situation change if Iran now got nuclear weapons and started to work aggressive, but some major countries didn't support the war against them. How would USA react as even before Iraq they were acting like they were and giving statements like "either you're with us or with the terrorists". The thing is that what they do is terrorism and what we do is either a military intervention or war agains terrorism. Look at the history of their acts and USA's acts. The only difference is that USA got the resources to do things in better and cleaner way. The only principles we're violating are the ones we've written and we try o make others to follow. We get frontpage news when our soldiers are caught at their area or at their boarder areas, but we close our eyes when our goverment kidnaps and tortures a civilian during his vacation. We let certain countries keep up with their aggression and same time strike others down. At what stage it becomes required? Is it when they strike against you or your allies? When they start pressuring you?
  4. The point here really isn't should they or shouldn't they have nuclear weapons. In my eyes we should reduce the amount of nuclear weapons dramatically and do anything to get rid even the last single one. The point here is that now our democratic model (yea, right) is hurting innocent civilians with this kind act. If their nuclear project is in a stage that some sources claim, no economic war can make them stop it anymore. However it spreads the antiamerican atmosphere at the Near East and gives the people one more reason to actually hope for the weapons: this just hshows them they aren't liked and they need something to defend themselves. Notice that the general attitude of people can be used as a propaganda from the goverment's side but it doesn't always become their doctrine: most likely if they officially finish their nukes (compare cases Israel and North Korea), they'll talk about them as defending weapons even if they had plans to use them for attacking. Also how can this kind of a thing even be considered from the goverment's side and if it now works, can it be used in future? Look how Europe divided into "new" and "old" when they were going to Iraq. In the worst scenario we will next time get even multinational companies pressuring countries to go for war against something as stupid (talking about the official reason) as was with Iraq. Please define me the word terrorism. At other thread (http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=670342) we already got a bit into that point. Is it kidnapping innocent people during their vacation and torturing for months? Is it training new military units that actually do kill people? Is it having and making weapons of mass destruction? The word terrorism has been inflated a lot. In my eyes Iran does not support it or if it does, then does USA unless terrorism means that it is doing things that USA doesn't like. Also this act could be seen as terrorism. At least it would be called that if it was against USA.
  5. Do you accept that kind of things?

  7. So, no official wars are declared and trigger hasn't been pullet yet even to the gun is loaded already but according to an article released in BBC, the unofficial financial war has been launched. This is said to be because of their nuclear projects and rise its price to the skies. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/6730681.stm Iran has now taken one step closer to being secure: they are starting gasoline rationing. This just shows who suffers from this financial war: normal civilians who most likely don't even know what's really going on. The authorities who can do something to stop the nuclear project most likely can only laugh at these acts from USA. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/6243644.stm In my eyes this is just a one last weak act to make them stop. Currently USA can't start a new war or they'd need either a huge jump in volunteers or conscription. With current general attitude and atmosphere, it would need a new 9/11 for the first option and 2nd probably is a bit too radical. Also according to some sources, they are already so close that no financial war can make them stop. The scary part here can be found from quite . How can any democractic country even try this kind of actions? Iran has a leader and meps who have been voted to their duties, not dictators who have throned themselves. Could this become a new doctrine: obey us or your economics will suffer?
  8. There are few certain things that make phats worth the most. If you look which rares are the most expensive, it's wearable+cracker as it's almost inexistant and has a phat. Wearable rares are more than just invests: they are status items. Everyone can see your phat when you wear it but no1 can see your 20 pumpkins which you keep noted in your inventory or in bank. Why party hats are worth more than santas or masks then? Well, they are rarest of all those wearable items. When they were dropped, no1 had any clue they'd even stand a chance to be worth something in future. Because of that many were abandoned soon. Second is that with less players and servers than with masks or santas, less of them were dropped. I can guarantee that there are less phats than masks or santas.
  9. However Jagex owns the RS cash and selling them is against their rules: this means those sites are actually violating law.

If they were death metal.. At first they were death metal, currently it's something that's hard to put under any genre.
  11. Or that's how we are wanted to believe. If I wanted to hide my top secret lab, I'd first do a fake place in place A and then hide the real place in totally different place. Area 51 doesn't let us to see inside of it and they got some research being done there, but it most likely is just a cherry on the top of the cake. It's really hard for me to believe that a country like USA would place their secret lab to a place which can be seen by any satellite, is written about in approx 1 million different magazines/books/websites and even 10 year old kids know about it. That's a bit too easy location for missiles to destroy the work of tens of years.
  12. Not just USA, but every country too :P United Nations already got some laws which many countries, including USA, have promised to follow. However it's scary how many of them has been broken. http://www.un.org/Overview/rights.html Following rules is harder than setting them. When we want to do something, we find a loophole from the rules we wrote ourself or we just abandon them. However when the others do the same, it's against the rules and they should be punished. The problem is that we don't have an union that's strong enough to first make an international law that's equal to everyone and then force people to follow it. In "normal life" this could be seen as normal situation: we got our laws and we got polices and jury so the law can be followed. Currently we aren't in that stage. If USA cares UN so much that they don't follow it's rules and can attack other countries even when UN doesn't support it, we're not in a good shape. One solution could be a world goverment. However that seems far too distant at the moment. We don't seem to allow others to catch our current state at economic fields if that's away from us. Even European Union has problems like this, what it would be like if we tried to stop USA, Russia and China from abusing their powers and how could we even first get them to a serious thing which would mean an end to their dreams of power and richness?
  13. Exactly. It's just the people that try to boost their egos with comments like "I did it the harder way" and put others who are better/as good/just a bit worse than them. It's not away from us that in 2003 we worked whole day like animals to get as much xp as current players get in 1-2 hours. If people want to live in past and do some things harder way, it's their choice. However people who want to get as much as possible during their gameplay do it in easier/faster way. So what if it includes buying skills or going to pc? It's not away from me if someone decides to burn 250m in farming and now get 99 farm before me or pc 10 weeks nonstop to pass me in att, def, str and hp xp. Btw for all these anti-pc dudes. You're so mad that someone gets faster xp in pc than you get in "normal" way. However did you play in 2001, 2002 or 2003 when RS still was hard, took time and it seemed impossible to get 99 skill average with around 5-7 skills less? Do you consider that the current gameplay is immoral? Yes, it's different to the old days but it's not immoral: it's the all for everyone. You antipc dudes are able to get as much xp as everyone else in pc and it's your own fault if you don't want it.
  14. Times when it happens or when talk and prove it? :P
  15. Totally agreed with you. The word "terrorism" has gone through a serious inflation. It's used far too much, new meanings are given to it and we don't even seem to know what's terrorism anymore. This wasn't the first crime USA commited, this wasn't the first time when media closed their eyes and this most likely wasn't last time either. Google or Noam Chomky's books for example could tell what USA has done at the backround in South America and same time fight against same kind of things when they are against them. If a citizen of USA had been captured by for example Libyan goverment, it would have been an international scandal and we'd see reports in media how different terrorist groups have tortured people in the past, how they killed some and how USA should strike back. How can USA bring democracy to places like Iraq when they don't even give fair trials or the chances to defend for those who are suspectedof doing something? This person was just one victim of the system, but as he's a german, his voice could be heard unlike those who are from countries from the middle east. edit: And at least I find Huntington's theory a bit too black and white. At the moment it looks like most wars are culture against culture/nation, like in Balkan or USA against its current enemies. However that's a bit black and white thinking. In the view of USA, islam is today's communism: it's their enemy on their way to their goals. It's their enemy because of it has spread a lot and in right places, has power and doesn't fall under their will, exactly like communism was. My point here is that currently different civilizations are enemies instead of other countries or ideologies, but that's because of current world situation. If some other national country or ideology grew strong and big enough, it would either become the 3rd big or replace either USA or islam depending how their rivalry ended. Note that I haven't really gone into Huntington yet, so sorry if he talks about these kind of things too :P
  16. Why do you bother training slayer? Why do you waste your energy on something you don't care about? I play this game because it's fun and I only do things I like or that can help me to get me something I want. If I wasn't satisfied with my slayer xp, I would stay away from it and not cry about pc.
  17. Do you get good drops at PC? Do you get xp to slayer there? Does pc open you the doors to the world of abyssal whip and dark bow drops? If you want the fastest xp, go to pc. If you want something else, then do that.
  18. If you ask me, that wasn't a failure but more like an useless poll. That information would be helpful if they were planning huge expansions to RS, but I don't think we'll see any of those any time soon. Looks more like one of those "nice to know" polls from Jagex.
  19. I could cry a river here as I'm 110 combat in rsc where melee skills were over twice slower than now, I had 98 ranged, 99 magic, 99 melee skills and over 20m hp xp before pc came. Yet, in my eyes pc was just another improvement to the game. so what if now an average lvl 70 can get more xp than I could get at 115 combat? It's not away from me that someone now is able to do what I did in easier and faster way. This game gets improved and if you can't accept the fact that it might make it easier, then it's your own loss. I personally don't see a reason to train in a normal way if you want to get as fast melee xp with zero risk. Heck, I wouldn't train either if I now wanted to max out again. It's totally the same thing why I use pyramid plunder now instead of pickpocketing monsters, use barrows instead of runite and so on. It's not their fault that Jagex gave us an update that could help pretty much everyone despite of their level and they want to do it in a faster way. In my eyes personally the worst kind of people are the ones that don't see the fact that world around them changes and then curse at everyone else because they follow the current world. Heck, when you next time call someone a pc product, go kill some moss giants in addy legs, large, mith plate, addy long sword and steel kite.
  20. Or kidnap all our citizens one by one and torture them in an Afghan jail :P
  21. Good luck on ruling the world from your little island then :P
  22. And what does that have to do with international crimes? :P
  23. Fixed. He's not from Italy.
  24. Good guesses, it was USA and this Mr. X is Khalid El-Masri, a Lebanon born German. His name was something similar to a terrorist so he was captured during his vacation to Macedonia. If you ask me, it could be considered as an act of international terrorism. No goverment should be allowed to send their agents to capture a citizen of some other country just because he is suspected to be something. Here's some links to it and you can find one version of his story from Wikipedia by searching articles with his name. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 02107.html http://www.guardian.co.uk/germany/artic ... 58,00.html http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6999272/site/newsweek/ http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/03/ ... 8155.shtml http://www.spiegel.de/international/spi ... 85,00.html http://www.reuters.com/article/worldNew ... 9720070625 ^last one being newest In my eyes this is now about more than just one random person being kidnapped and tortured. It shows that we still got goverments that are willing to do things against their own laws (fair trials, innocent until proven guilty, torture, etc), hunt foreign people from foreign countries and so on. Some may wonder why did I choose that title. The reason is simple: now when we, the western world, do something like this, it tends to be ok. We don't talk about it in media and we try to hide facts like this. However if this had crime was commit by some of them, the countries we don't count to be part of the western world, we'd see it at the frontpage of every magazine. We're blind to see the mistakes done by us, but we see every mistake done by the others. I personally don't believe we guilty ones will ever be punished for this in a way they should. Most news companies don't write a single line about it and the goverment of USA or CIA will probably be silent or give some apologies and fire one or two random people for it.
  25. The drop rates are exactly same for you and to everyone else. I don't see anything unfair in that. Also it's the hard work that this game is based on, with lucky shots you can boost your bank temporary, but without hard work you'll stay at that stage. So what are you planning? That phats, masses of raw materials and so on were sold in general stores? In my eyes this current system works well. A general store sells few helpful items and that's it. Special stores sell better stuff (dragon scim for example) and the rarest and best ones are drops from high lvl monsters. In my eyes that looks a lot fairer than general store selling everything. Also to who is it unfair that general store has a low stock? Gen store owner? Btw in which way would stopping merchanting be good?
