  1. ok, what about this one? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... CatId=2511 how does this one look? I'm not the best computer person :x it seems to have the same Specs, it's almost the same price (about 100$ more), and its not refurbished.
  2. I've always wanted Tip.it to get a Ventrillo server, however, I don't have a headset/mic, how much do they cost? I might have to get a headset.
  3. I'm looking to purchase a laptop and my friend recommended this to me: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =M975-3260 He has the same laptop and I really liked to use it. I plan to use an external hard drive as well because I tend to download alot. I can currently run everything i need to on a 5 year old desktop. What do you think/what are you're suggestions?
  4. yea, my friend let me mess around with his and I really liked it. Couldn't believe it was only 700$. With an ergonomic mouse and a large external hard drive I'm set :D honestly, anything is better than the desktop I currently have, this one that I've played RS on forever is about 6-7 years old and it takes about 15 minutes to boot up and get all my programs running on it.
  5. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =M975-3260 My friend has a computer that is identical to this accept its a different brand of processor and this one has a screen that is slightly bigger. It seems to have just about everything i need on it. I'll just need to go buy a good mouse and possibly get a 500gb+ external harddrive for christmas (I DL alot of stuff lol). Anyone think this a good choice? I'm thinking of ordering it this evening because I can fully afford this one.
  6. hey! he stole my catch phrase   (Howdy) I've seen someone with it before too, It might have been this guy, I don't recall.
  7. [hide] well Mac's seem to be more of a media station which is more of what I'm looking for. The only game I'll be playing on it is RS, but I need it to run my music, a movie, and have the ability to browse the web all at once. My current PC can do this but its getting very old and very slow, it takes me about 10-15 minutes to get all my programs up and running now. I'd like to have a portable PC to take on trips with me for music/music/RS. Windows Media Center is really good for what you want and is a lot more full-featured than Apple's Front Row, and you get it with Vista Home Premium, which you should get with a computer in that price range. Macs are more secure to a newbie, but if you have any knowledge at all, and stay away from bad sites and keep a good security software suite installed, Windows is just as secure. I've never been hacked, and I go Windows all the way. Good security software, common sense, and a 20-character obscure password (Which I assume you have) should be good enough. They were for me. Moreover, Macs are completely dumbed down for newbies. Almost everything is so painfully simple that it's insanely frustrating to someone (Like me) who actually is pretty good with computers. Also, in my experience, Vista's Aero interface is much better than the Mac one. Much smoother and more elegant, and that's on a cheap computer, too. A ~$2,000 laptop should be even better than mine, which is saying a lot. Also, I made a comparison between a MacBook and my mom's new ~$1,100 Sony laptop a while back. The screen was the same, the MacBook won (barely) in processor, and the Sony won in RAM, hard drive, and graphics. And they were about the same price. You should get a lot more for your money with a Windows laptop. Important: I tried playing RuneScape on the MacBook my school lets me use. Assuming you use Firefox instead of Safari (Firefox is waaaay better), there are several problems: Namely when switching between tabs with the keyboard (Which you can't do in Safari) with ctrl-tab, the screen glitches until you manually click on the tab. Not good. In addition, holding down a key in RuneScape (Including Backspace) doesn't register, so you have to manually press it each time you want to delete a letter. If you mistype a sentence, you're really dead.. Takes 10-20 seconds to delete it instead of 2. I would NOT advise playing RuneScape on a Mac. Also, my Mac crashed a lot more than my PC ever has, and it didn't even tell my why - it told me "You need to reboot your computer." When my Windows computer crashes, it gives me a specific error code so I can find out what's wrong. These messages may seem cryptic, but "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" (When my PC's hard drive crashed) is a lot better than a folder with a question mark (When my Mac's hard drive crashed). Also, my windows PC actually had a reason for crashing - a company that didn't write good wireless drivers.. :| One computer I would recommend would be the HP dv2500t, which, with the recommended configuration and a bit of customizing, costs ~$1900-$2000. That's with a LOT of upgrades, as well.. Look at his current layout. He already does this. Gratz on 96 farming btw. [/hide]Thanks ALOT for this, the main concern I have with a laptop is the screen size. You've seen my layout on the homepage but I'm wondering if that same layout would work on a laptop that has a 2 inch or more less on the screen size. Would changing ther resolution make it smaller so I can fit it all? If I can get something cheaper than 2000$ it would be nice, I've been looking at PC's that were 1200-1500 because thats much more affordable for me currently. 2000$ was more of a high end price I was looking at but would take me a while to save up for. also, I don't use a browser to play rs in, I use the official RS client because its small and doesn't have all the clutter, its much easier to fit onto the screen I use. I use firefox for videos and surfing however.
  8. My god, you never cease to amaze me, I absolutely ADORE you're site! Keep those articles coming, they are some of the best I've ever read :D .

  10. Yes you can. Just make sure you buy another mouse that is compatible with the Mac, and the O/S, and that it has the right and left click buttons. Mac's do get viruses, don't be fooled by that statement. You have to worry about them, you always have to worry. Linux>Windows>Mac. Then again I tried to give you the most unbiased answer I could muster up. ^_^ then why do they state that they do get them? and to my knowledge there is no purchasable antivirus that runs on Mac's. also, whats so good about linux? can you buy it with any computer? I dont quite understand what it is.. Its called marketing.vista was apparently going to be the most secure and flexible os to date yet its been plugged in every area by hackers. My uncles a mac owner and he raves about it,so much that he cant use the windows os anymore because of its uniform design.Theyre great but not virus free but not as bad as windows I didn't think they were, but they must be safer than Windows? Because if I were to go up to someone in a store and say "why does Mac state that their computer is virus free?" I'm sure they wouldn't tell me "oh, thats just a lie" they would have some kind of explanation... ALso, I've never heard of antivirus software for apple, how do you protect from viruses?

  12. So I'm wondering, can you play RS on mac computers? I'm thinking about sometime in the near future (when I save up enough) to get a mac book pro (about 2000$), I really like the mac layout but does it run RS effectively? Also, since mac's can't get viruses does that include spyware also? Do I not ever have to worry about key loggers ever again? some tech person help me out lol.
  13. Pre-Grats on 96 farm, your moving through farming alot quick then rc. Are you planning on breaking from rc once farm is done? And what are you planting for 99 farm? when I'm done with farming I'll see how much money I have and how much my next goal will cost me and RC the difference, then do that and repeat :)
  14. welcome! but use the sticky next time :D
  15. Dude, the graphics are so good that you can see his nipples. There just rendered images, it would be much harder to do that for moving images in game. If you look around the knowledge database and especially the "why should I join members?" area you will see lots of pictures like these, they've been on the site for a long time.
  16. Was on alot today, got a fair bit of RCing done. 96 Farming tomorrow :D
  17. Well we will have to wait and see then. I can guerente (excuse the spelling :P) this though what ever it is in the upcoming months there are going to be so many crappy rumours your not going to know what to believe. MMO's take ALOT to run, especially if they plan on running both games the same as they run Runescape. Updating weekly, keeping reasonable customer support. You would need 2 seperate teams and I dont think even Jagex has the financial capability to do that. My opinion is that it will be a Mech type multicombat game that is Java based, but not an MMO, more of a Quake Arena type game (basically a battle game is what I'm getting at). You mean, a game that goes Boom Boom? basically, a third person (or maybe first person) multiplayer shooter thing that is Java based. It would still beat out all the other Java games on the web if it used the same type of engine as Runescape.

  19. It just says "online games" that doesn't mean its an MMO. I don't believe that this Mechscape thing is going to be an MMO. I won't believe it until I see it.
  20. actually, bots are what keep the game going, its the excess of bots that is the issue.Players could pick up the slack if they were given a chance. Who the hell wants to compete with a bot that just gathers up resources when you would be working for the same payoff but much more effort put in. If bots were gone us honest players could return to chopping. in theory it sounds nice, but everyone has gotten so use to the current prices of things that if there was a sudden change, it would NOT end well. People are use to paying 200-300gp for yew logs, the bots are all suddenly gone and the price on yews goes up to 400-500, the buyers would get very upset and their would be serious market issues at that point. If it was done away with long ago there wouldn't be a problem, because everyone would be use to the price, but if someone suddenly had to pay 200-300 gp more per raw material it could cause major issues.
  21. I'm sure I've played more than 24 hours (or whatever it said) in a week, and I do just fine in life. It's just a bunch of parents getting riled up again. Some people just have more time than others and for every kid that plays games ALOT there are 5 that don't, don't worry so much about it and let people do what they want with their lives  Parents are usually more mature and don't see the point of gaming. However, with this newer generation, I feel we'll see many more gamers that are old when this generation gets older.
  22. I can't imagine them releasing another MMO, I think it would be a terrible idea on their part. They've already put so much time and money into the game, developing updates, hiring staff and customer support, they barely have enough bank space, server's, and customer support for the current game. Also, it would probably end up that everyone switches over to it and leaves Runescape, sort of like what happened to RSC, it gradually got smaller and smaller and now hardly anyone can/does use it. A new game would most likely loose Jagex a lot of business and be the end of Runescape. Also, If it was a new MMO it would probably be done in Java again, since that is the main thing they have going for them. This would mean it would have the same limitations as RS in the number of items and strengths that can occur. Level caps would stay the same and little would change in the expanse of the game. I don't think they are going to make this "Mechscape" into anything like RS is, its probably just going to be some little game they put up, not an MMO. What might be neat is if it is a continuation of the RS game. RS has no set time period, maybe there will be a futuristic branch of the game? or a game similar that lets you transfer you're stats over to it sort of like between RSC and RS2, this would be sort of like RS3 accept a different game with more.
  23. I told him this through pages 40 to 100 somewhere...possibly 40-190. =/ yup, I'm just too stubborn for ya :P I'm going to be participating in the slave auction this year, so everybody bid on meh! :D
  24. [hide] mmm I dont really know anymore. All websites i visit are rs, tif, zybez. myspace, youtube, and winterrowd. Those are pretty much all websites i visit. Well google too. Crusaders been googling pr0n@@@@@@@@@@ Rofl not hardly. *ehem* Hardly? :-$ -.- you know what I mean. lol. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO even if you did that wouldn't cause you any of those issues, trust me *cough* It's something else that you're doing, do you use MSN or AIM or IRC? Those are the most common places were keyloggers are downloaded. Only AIM, but I haven't been on it in like 3 months. [/hide] well keep an eye open and be more cautious. Is there a sibling or someone else that uses you're computer? Someone else that plays RS on the computer or uses it in general? A real life friend (that could install one when you aren't looking)?
