  1. I watched District 13: Ultimatum last night (Nothing to do with District 9  ), it was pretty good towards the middle but then got really cheesy at the end. Anyone seen the trailer for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World? (Youtube below) It looks pretty awesome. Youtube HD Video - This video will cause high CPU usage, to view the video in a lower quality, please click .

^ Once you start eating plain lettuce you just can't stop amirite? I used to do that, although I've never eaten a whole head of lettuce. I am considering buying a Wacom Bamboo Fun (With mutitouch and the normal Wacom features!) now that I probably have the funds to do it, although as usual I'll have to buy it in the US and have someone bring it over here when they visit as I have no urge to pay ~60 more.

The lens and the sensor are two separate things. While lens size does affect the video quality too, IMO having a bigger sensor would be better. Smaller sensors (The actual sensitive chip inside the camera, sometimes called a CCD) "capture" less light; therefore you have to turn the shutter speed down, and then the ISO. Once you hit 1/30th of a second for each frame, you have reached the maximum for a 30fps camera and you have to start turning up the ISO, which results in a lot more noise. You could use a bigger lens to focus more light on the sensor, but you could get chromatic aberration from all the distortion of the lens and it's simpler to just use a larger sensor.

Wait until you see the resulting video. The sensor is so small, it's basically going to be noise; they're just squeezing more pixels out of it.. Also, "HD" is stretching it, I think that 720p hardly counts as HD, seeing as even the biggest HD format is pretty lame. If I ever get a smartphone, it's probably going to be something like the Nokia n900. I don't care if you have your massive app store full of useless crap, because I'll be doing whatever freaking want to.

Sorry I didn't post this earlier, was busy with the last week of school. I typed this post nearly all out, was on the last audio file, and then I yanked on my mouse too hard (Which was wrapped around my computer power cable, as I discovered) and lost the whole thing. :wall: But I should be able to just listen again and type pretty much what I typed before. A. is a red, translucent, long rounded rectangle that at higher volumes fills my whole synesthetic vision. That's what sine waves look like by definition really, except they often vary in color. B. is like A, but all jagged and a bit crooked. It's yellow (But maybe that's because I just ate a banana and can still taste it, synesthesia is influenced very easily). C. I couldn't really describe C but it wasn't so hard to draw, so I took a shot at it in Inkscape. (I drew that jagged thing in like 20 seconds but it's close enough) D. This is pretty hard to describe, but even more difficult to draw so I'll take a shot at describing it. Imagine two rectangles from C; They are bent and stretched into inverse sine waves. They seem to get thinner and thicker, but I think it's because they seem to move farther and nearer to the "camera" sometimes. E is in a strange format that I can't open, sorry. F. is a different perspective entirely. It's like looking down a pitch black hallway, with each "sound stream" on either side, going towards the end of the hallway (The left audio channel on the left and the right on the right). They are also quite like C. They waver a bit up and down before cutting off. G. Like C; however the jagged thing has more amplitude and frequency and is more even. At the top of each wave, though, it seems to reach some sort of "maximum" and is flat. It travels from left to right, and moves quite smoothly and slowly closer and farther from the "camera". H. I can see that this is something that was twisted and distorted. Each of the noises looks something like this: (Just a lot more jagged and complicated) Weird, I know. But I'm not arguing with my synesthesia. Hope those descriptions made sense.

You were the dude that everyone was yelling "ASK HER" at, right? Well done. :-) I am living the good life. To bed at 01:00, up at 10:00, pretty much no responsibilities. So far today I have drank some coffee, had some sort of breakfast, watched some trailers, posted on TIF, built the latest version of Blender and checked Slashdot and deviantArt.
  7. Kind of both on and off topic, any plan to upgrade to 3.1 soon now that it has come out?
  8. I think it really depends on what you expose yourself to, although I have to agree about pop, at least. I do, however, have a policy of mostly listening to whatever everyone else isn't listening to so I wouldn't really know.
  9. I saw a screenshot of Fight Club the other day and the lighting looks amazing. I'm thinking of watching it solely for the cinematography.
  10. The typography at the top is great; I'm dying to know what font that is! Unfortunately that's about all I like about this. It's not that it's bad, it's that It's... mediocre. One of your big problems is that the text, as in the case of the thumbnail captions, doesn't have enough "room to breathe", or as in the case of the text at the bottom, isn't really the right size. The problem with that text really is that it's so undefinable. It's obviously not body text or part of the content, but it's not really a heading either. This makes so that it's really hard to decide on a size for the text. One thing my former visual arts teacher taught me is to use the Fibonacci sequence to decide font sizes. (If you don't remember the Fibonacci sequence: Start at one, and add the two previous numbers. 0+1 = 1, 1+1 = 2, 1+2 = 3, 2+3 = 5, 3+5=8, 5+8 = 13, 8+13 = 21...) So if your headers are 21em/pt/px, your content should be 13em/pt/px. Really it's all about geometry and math; I would use the Golden Ratio for the thumbnails (~1.618:1), and possibly center the page, shrink it to 960px wide and divide it into thirds. That is really more practical than artistic design advice. What you'll have left will, umm, look like one of my sites now that I think of it. But I know how it is to try to be original when it feels like everything has been done design-wise on the Internet. No easy task, and really feels like banging your head against the wall.
  11. This was actually pretty good. You should be careful though, there are some Admins and Supermods who are quick on the draw of the banhammer.

Come to think of it Estonia is a possibility, I usually go there in the fall though.
  13. I don't really care so much about what I use so long as it isn't rollon, I don't like putting that stuff on especially during the winter. I'm always cold enough. Of course my dad doesn't know that, so he gets me rollon. IMO Spray > Stick > Rollon. Spray doesn't feel cold, and you can't use stick/rollon to kill mosquitoes. I am trying to get rid of this rollon that my dad got me right now haha, so I use it excessively. After that I've got some Adidas South Africa soccer championship whatever themed stick that has cool artwork on the outside, which will unfortunately last me too long so I won't be able to get some spray before I go up north to the Land of the Killer Death Mosquitoes.
  14. To be really honest, I found it hard to take that movie seriously, but that could be my anti-insanity reflex. Ending scene was really sad though.

Same here. Got a 60€ stipend too. :-D
  16. No posts are ever deleted; They're moved to archives. @Saruman44, I don't think that reports are made on individual posts anyway.
  17. Because we went there, obligatory xkcd: But really, now that Emacs has a vim emulator, the conclusion is simple; vim is the best editor, and Emacs is the best operating system.

No, it's not winter there. It's Oh-no-the-temperature-went-below-25℃ season. You don't know what winter is. I'm going to chill, go to a few different countries (Latvia, Sweden, Denmark?), do whatever I want, and avoid getting sunburned. No, it's not summer there. It's Oh-no-the-temperature-went-above-25℃ season. You don't know what summer is. Nah, it hardly gets above 25℃ here. I do know what summer is, however; When I lived in Minnesota, it would get over 100℉ and very humid.
  19. I use Gedit for pretty much everything except for the rare occasion when I do some Java, then I use Eclipse. I really just don't need all the bells and whistles.

  21. This looks pretty interesting. I signed up and am playing with it right now.
  22. That's not going to happen for a number of reasons. Really, it's the same as usual. First off, it involves some pretty extensive code changes to the forum. Which kills it dead already. Second of all, it would be subject to extreme abuse. Third, it has the potential to make discussion very unfair. Kind of related to #2, but not necessarily intentional. Also, kind of unrelated, but YouTube has some of the absolute worst comments, of course it has improved vastly since the comment system updates.

Found this great way of finding the perfect height for a computer chair. First, you think that you can totally do a back handspring on a single 10cm thick mattress (You did it on the trampoline, after all) and you try that out. Land on your head, and listen to the sickening crunch that emanates from your neck. Put on some pain-relieving cream (Apply liberally), and find that you can hardly bend your neck without it hurting. You can now only stare at the wall, unless you bend your entire torso. Sit on your computer chair, and adjust it until you can actually see the monitor. Done!
  24. "New concept"? I believe I remember seeing this suggestion back when we were on phpBB2.

^ I still hate you Tripsis. I'm not getting over this for years. Ah, but this is Pixar. They have a habit of making ridiculously good sequels. Ah, but this is Pixar. They have a history of only ever making one sequel. To be honest I'm really nervous about Toy Story 3, the 3D in the trailer looked absolutely amazing but... It just seems to me they're taking Toy Story too far.
