No, it's not winter there. It's Oh-no-the-temperature-went-below-25℃ season. You don't know what winter is. I'm going to chill, go to a few different countries (Latvia, Sweden, Denmark?), do whatever I want, and avoid getting sunburned.

This looks pretty interesting. I signed up and am playing with it right now.

That's not going to happen for a number of reasons. Really, it's the same as usual. First off, it involves some pretty extensive code changes to the forum. Which kills it dead already. Second of all, it would be subject to extreme abuse. Third, it has the potential to make discussion very unfair. Kind of related to #2, but not necessarily intentional. Also, kind of unrelated, but YouTube has some of the absolute worst comments, of course it has improved vastly since the comment system updates.

Found this great way of finding the perfect height for a computer chair. First, you think that you can totally do a back handspring on a single 10cm thick mattress (You did it on the trampoline, after all) and you try that out. Land on your head, and listen to the sickening crunch that emanates from your neck. Put on some pain-relieving cream (Apply liberally), and find that you can hardly bend your neck without it hurting. You can now only stare at the wall, unless you bend your entire torso. Sit on your computer chair, and adjust it until you can actually see the monitor. Done!

"New concept"? I believe I remember seeing this suggestion back when we were on phpBB2.

^ I still hate you Tripsis. I'm not getting over this for years. Ah, but this is Pixar. They have a habit of making ridiculously good sequels. Ah, but this is Pixar. They have a history of only ever making one sequel. To be honest I'm really nervous about Toy Story 3, the 3D in the trailer looked absolutely amazing but... It just seems to me they're taking Toy Story too far.

I use postcount as the entire basis for my judgement of the user's personality, character, and post. Frankly, people who don't have more than 6k posts should just be ignored, especially the trolls. This makes Nadril the embodiment of All That Is Good And Desireable.

That is definitely synesthesia; My "Year map" and "Week map" are also wheels. Yes, the shapes can be hard to describe, but I find that with a little concentration you can get them into something semi-coherent.

I don't think that any major forum software has an edit history feature.

^ As is DSOTM. Vinyl really interests me, I think we have two records buried somewhere but we don't have a record player. There are some cheap $50ish ones at this electronics store that can convert them to mp3 too, does anyone know if such a record player would be any good?

TIF's moderation process requires that users can't delete their posts, as the posts that moderators "delete" are simply moved to another forum. I think of it as yet one more incentive to think before I post.

'Twas an afternoon in February, and lo and behold! I was bored. I was using Blender to do some strange compositing, and when I went to render it (Using a format that I had never used before), I got this, which, verily, I thought was cool. The screenshots flew and the image was left severely cropped, and I got the signature and avatar you see upon this very day. That is really strange. I've never seen anything like that in Blender. Yeah as the video description said it was a codec error, not something I did in Blender.

^ First, wut. Second no, I'm not sure what that is but it's not synesthesia. You don't need to have your eyes closed to see it, although it eliminates some distractions (I find that I can "see" it best laying in a dark room, with my eyes closed and headphones on, makes it easier to focus).

Try out some simple sounds first, like sine waves of different notes. Soft sounds, sharp sounds etc. I would have a real hard time drawing complex sounds, but I can try.
-
Sure, I could even make a few attempts at drawing, only problem is I don't have a scanner so crappy pictures taken with my camera will have to do.

Watched Alice in Wonderland. Was kind of messed up, but even so not very entertaining. :| I suppose I just wasn't interested in the story.

This kind of thing happens to me all the time on TIF or when I'm back in America, when someone makes some reference to American pop culture and I have no idea what they're talking about. There are some things I've done but they're not really worth posting here, I can't think of any right now...

No, it's more of an "inner feeling", kind of the same way that you know your leg is hurting (As opposed to hurting your leg and thinking your arm is hurt), or when you're hungry. 'Twas an afternoon in February, and lo and behold! I was bored. I was using Blender to do some strange compositing, and when I went to render it (Using a format that I had never used before), I got this, which, verily, I thought was cool. As synesthesia-induced experiences are "neutral, or even pleasant" according to the Wikipedia article (I quote it because I really only think of them as pleasant) I don't know if you're really "diagnosed" with it. I've never heard of it being in any way disturbing. Want to hear the story behind it? (Not actually an epic saga, but whatever) Can you visualize it, or do you "see"/perceive it involuntarily? I think he means perceiving red when it's hot, and blue when it's cold. If it happens to be those two particular colors, then that makes it very interesting, because there's no reason for the brain to inherently associate those two colors with those two temperatures (it's not even the way it works in nature, the hottest stars are blue). That would mean that the association between color and temperature is learned, not intrinsic. Not entirely; I perceive heat as an orange-red and cold as a light pastel blue-purple not unlike this scale: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_theory#Warm_vs._cool_colors That part of the article also makes that same point about hot and cool stars, interesting observation.

Don't know how to start this. Synesthesia is a neurological condition that mixes senses. For example, some people associate numbers and letters with colors (The most common kind), some people can see sounds and music, feelings, numbers (As abstract shapes). Other people can taste words, associate personalities with numbers, letters, words... I'm a synesthete, quite strong at that (I think anyway) but I didn't notice it consciously until I was 13 or 14, although I remember noticing it when I was five or six. I can see sounds and music, smells and tastes, feelings (Although feelings are more color than shape), I associate letters and numbers with colors. So many people are unaware that this experience is not so uncommon (I don't think so anyway, I've heard it described as a "Rare neurological condition" but I don't think that's true, and I know others have it, like Lenin of these forums) and has a name, so I'd like you to stop and think about these points, and see if you can relate to them: You probably want to read this too (It's too long to quote here IMO): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia#Various_forms Personally, I think being a synesthete is amazing. My favorite songs are the ones I relate with the strongest and clearest shapes and colors. Thought I could do someone a favor by making them aware of their synesthesia, if there are any around here.

What I wouldn't give... To be honest and a bit blunt, Monsters vs. Aliens had some really horrible voice acting and the animation was a pain to look at, it had the dreaded underwater feel. The characters were really annoying. The only thing I liked about it was that when that giant moth "died", the orchestra played a minor seventh chord, which is unusual. Yes, I listen for things like that.

I watched "How to Train your Dragon" last night. Now I'm going to go do something less confusing, like untangling a slinky with my teeth. How can that movie possibly be by the same animation studio as Monsters vs. Aliens and Madagascar? Monsters vs. Aliens sucked so badly, probably the worst animated movie I've ever seen. Madagascar simply can not be taken seriously. And then Dreamworks goes off and makes a good movie. What? The 3D was also like twice as good as those others, not to mention the story (Oh wait, twice times zero is still zero).

Long time no see dude :-)

First of all I should say that my post was pretty harsh, sorry about that. No, I'm talking about posting it way before you're started the actual work. Mockups and pre-coding designs are a dreamworld where anything is possible. You're right in the way that such a design would not need any difficult or obscure, but I find that you should always be realistic with your design by starting to code it before showing it to anyone outside of any other people working with you, because the reality of turning pixels into code nearly always trims off the things you would like to have. I don't know, maybe I'm presenting my opinion as fact.
