  1. Ok, so I had a pure from a while back, and I just recovered it. However, he is a fail. Somehow he has 18 def on him, I don't remember how I got it or what, he just does. I'm wondering what to do with him now. Stats are: 60 att 75 str 18 def -.- 55 ranged 55 mage 44 pray I'm thinking I could make him into an initiate pure, which is 20 def...? I really would rather not make him into a zerker pure, as that is so much more work, but if thats the only alternative... I'll consider it. Has anyone had any experience with initiate pures? I haven't seen many of them, and I don't know how good they are. If I did make him into an initiate pure, would i stay 60 attack and use a d scim/dds (I have mm and lost city done) or get 70 attack and use a whip? Also, is it worth it to get ancients? Any other quests that would be worthwhile doing? (obviously quests for the initiate armor...) Thanks
  2. Alright, so recently I've noticed a huge controversy over whether a ring of wealth decreases your addy bar drops at aviansies or not. Many people say that the ring of wealth increases the number of rune dagger drops that you get, therefore decreasing the number of potential addy bar drops. First, lets take a look at the ring of wealth itself. Jagex stated in a postbag to the hedge (found here): and into regular english: So, basically what most people say is that if you wear a ring of wealth, you will get more rune daggers as they are supposedly in this "second wheel". Personally, I disagree with this, because rune daggers don't seem to be in the second wheel. In the letter, it makes it sound like its pretty hard to get into the second wheel, and that in that second wheel, there are more "rare" drops. I wouldn't say that a rune dagger from aviansies is a "rare" drop, as most everyone knows you get them quite frequently. I think that if one was to get into this "second wheel", that you'd be getting dragon items, half keys, etc. I would say that rune daggers, along with addy bars, rune limbs etc., are on the outside wheel. However, if this theory is true, then it would obviously be worth it to use a ring of wealth, because you'd be getting far more dragon drops and half keys. I've used a ring of wealth at aviansies, and honestly I didn't notice any significant increase in rune dagger drops, or decrease in addy bar drops. Hell, I didn't notice a difference at all. Thoughts? Edit:  Just noticed the whole other thread on ring of wealth. Seems to be a bit of a different discussion... If mods feel the need to lock, go for it. If not, discuss :?
  3. !!!!! you've left your ip address in :wall: :wall: You don't know what the account name is, and that ip address is like 5 years old. They change like every week I believe. I'm really not concerned about it.
  4. Take a look at the last time logged in. \ Thats on one of my brothers accounts that hasn't played since about 2005. :P

  6. Probably when I broke my collar-bone. When I first broke it, it hurt like hell but it was nothing compared to what was to come. Every single thing I did would cause enormous amounts of pain to my shoulder. It was like every time i moved someone would poke a knife into my shoulder. Simple tasks like getting out of bed and sitting down would be complete hell. The worst was when I was sitting on a couch one time, watching tv, and I gradually started to slide down the couch, but I didn't want to move myself back up, as it would hurt like hell. Finally it got to the point where I was about to fall off the couch (if anyone was watching this it must've been hilarious  ), and I called for my dad to come help me get up. Before he got in however, I ended up falling off onto the floor, kind of scrunched up with my back against the bottom of the couch, which was ridiculously painful. THEN, getting up from that was even worse, as it took like 3 tries since I could hardly move and my dad basically had to pick me up while I was screaming my head off in pain. This was all when I was like 7 years old btw. But ya, it hurt. a lot.
  7. GO BRUINS! I'm from Boston, soo... I really hope they can win it. They've been so horrible for the past couple years, they deserve it :
  8. It does effect the bar drops. Think of it this way. Odds of getting a addy bar 1 in 4 - common stays the same regardless Odds of getting a rune dagger (this is merely guess work, but you'll get the idea) - w/o RoW 1 in 30 - w RoW 1 in 20. So every 200 kills you should get about 6 or 7 rune daggers without RoW 10. That means for the difference 3 or 4 one of your drops is replaced with the dagger. So you could be losing 3 or 4 bar drops. This happens with all the rare drops they have to replace another items drop ie the more common ones. In short by increasing the rate of the rare drops you decrease the rate of your more common drops. Its like making 4 of the holes bigger in roulette you end up making the others smaller. A while ago, Jagex specifically went over this. Think of the drops like a roulette (sp?) table in a casino, with a big wheel on the outside and a smaller spinning wheel on the inside. The wheel on the outside contains normal, non-rare drops (addy bars, rune dagger, herbs, rune limbs etc.) The wheel on the inside contains rare drops (half-keys, dragon spears, etc.). A ring of wealth only increases the chance that your little marble thingy will get to that inner wheel containing the valuable drops. In theory, yes you wouldn't get as many addy bars because you would be getting to the inner wheel more of the time. (although if this were totally true, it would be completely worth it because instead of getting addy bars you'd be getting more dragon spears, half keys etc.) The point is, is that either way a RoW isn't worth it, and an archers ring also isn't worth the risk. By far, your best bet is a ring of life, considering if you're praying and get disconnected without an arma pendant theres a very good chance that you will run out of pray and get destroyed by several aviansies hitting you at once. A ring of life has a good chance of getting you out of a sticky situation like this. Also, theres no real rates when it comes to monster drops. A RoW won't make it so that instead of getting 1 visage in every 2000 kills you get 1 visage in every 1000 kills. Theres no set limit at all, all that the RoW does is increase your chances of getting to that inner wheel where the "rare" drops are, therefore increasing your chance of getting a "rare" drop.
  9. RoW increases chance of rare drops, and addy bars aren't a rare drop, it doesn't reduce the number of bars, just doesn't affect it. That said, theres really no sense in risking the 600k or something (I have no idea of price of archers ring) for a +4 or so range bonus. It would be a much better idea just to take a ring of life in case of disconnection or getting distracted. As for the bolts, theres also no point in spending the money on mith bolts. Broad-tipped bolts are the same as mith but cost much much less. Also the rest of your set up doesn't really hit on prayer bonus at all. You say you got 200kc, and you could get waaaay more if you swapped in monk robes bottom and a mitre instead of the archer helm. You really want a balance of prayer bonus and range attack, and you're going for all range bonus and no prayer bonus. When I prayed at aviansies with the setup I mentioned I recall getting well over 500 kc, probly more like 700. (although I had 70+ ranged at the time as well)
  10. Hm, all these setups look kinda sketchy tbh. Heres what I would use. Sara Mitre (I think thats what its called, the head part of the sara robes. This will be your sara item) Glory/fury ammy (No need for arma pendant since you're praying) Red d'hide top (Not zammy, just regular red d'hide) Monks robe bottom Unholy book (this will help a lot, but if you don't have it I would switch it out for that shield with the pray bonus everyones talking about, and switch an unholy symbol in for the glory) Snakeskin boots Red d'hide vambraces Ava's accumulator Rune c'bow Broad bolts (same as mith but much cheaper) Ring of Life (just in case :P) Everyone is saying to use monk robe top and d'hide legs, but you should use d'hide top and monk robes legs because the robes give the same pray bonus, whereas the d'hide top will give you much more range bonus. This setup is a pretty good compromise of pray bonus and range attack bonus, and it served me well when I used to pray aviansies. I would strongly suggest getting an unholy book if you don't have one, its totally worth it when you're doing anything that involves range, and here it will give you a nice range bonus, plus prayer bonus, and you will get to stick with the glory/fury ammy, giving you more range/pray bonus. Good luck!
  11. His last name is Zezima. I wonder how many people he meets irl that freak out when they hear his last name
  12. Thanks for the good advice! That sounds like a really good idea =] So you just stab em with the dagger for a while till they're like 40% hp then whip out the maul? And I just hit 56 strength :] Oh and what gear should I wear while pking? Full iron is fine, with zerker necklace and a COMBAT BRACELET. The combat bracelet can increase your max hit by 1 alone. Either an iron dagger (p++) or a steel dagger (p++) if you plan on getting 5 attack, and the maul (tzhaar-ket-om) obviously :). Also if your having a hard time finding a dagger (p++), just buy the dagger and then a weapon poison (p++) and use the two together. Theres no herblore requirement or anything. For your inventory, definitely use monkfish or above food, and have a super str pot, super att pot (if you have 5 att, if not it won't make a difference) and a super anti-poison, which is very very helpful, since many of your opponents will be poisoning you, and as you will find out, poison can lead to an easy ko. And of course a teletab (lumby is probably your best bet since its a non-pvp zone). Also with pking, the one thing you'll encounter that is really annoying is people with anti poisons -.-. It makes it a lot harder to ko, but its still pretty easy with recoils + dagger. Most of the time against people without anti-poisons, (especially against pure rangers with knives because of crazy recoil damage) I would just use the dagger until they're poisoned and then maul away. A lot of times you'll get lucky with a couple damage from recoil, a 25 hit, and a 6 from poison all at the same time. Good luck with your pking, and don't get discouraged ;) It took me about 2-3 deaths to get the hang of obby maul pking, but once you get good at it, you'll be getting tons of kills. Obby maulers really are ridiculous, although expensive and time-consuming :(. And hopefully you have a good way to make money back, because when you die you lose a lot :? EDIT: I was reading through the rest of the replies, and if you DO get range, don't use a msb! It's totally useless for obby maulers. You pretty much need to use rune knives (poisoned ftw) to effectively range maul. (just watch out for recoil damage :P ) And soul wars would be a bad option to train because you don't get hp xp. Part of obby maulers is that they have insanely high hp for their combat levels, and if you're going to train range you might as well get all the hp you can.
  13. I would actually recommend not getting range. I had an obby mauler for a while (now converting him to a ddser), and I was very glad that I didn't get ranged, simply because people safe like crazy against knives. When you're getting hit by constant 5/6's, and you know that they can hit 20+ at any time, you're gonna safe. But, if you see someone attacking you with a dagger, you're thinking that you can easily eat before they can ko you. I got 5 attack and used a steel dagger (p++). Damage from the dagger + poison + recoil + maul hit = death. Also, when ranging with knives you get destroyed by recoils. I loved to fight against range maulers because it was so easy tbh. While they were hitting me constantly, I'd just eat, hit them every now and then with dagger and while poison/recoil would get their hp down without them really noticing it, I'd whip out maul and ko. Easy as pie. Also I would strongly recommend getting 5 attack. I started with 1 attack and then a friend convinced me to get 5, and it is a world of difference. I felt like I was hitting way way more than maulers with 1 attack, and I would probably be hitting the same as them at the same combat level. Honestly, if you poison your opponent and have plenty of recoils you will get many many ko's. The key is to get them with small amounts of damage so that they don't really notice it as much. Good luck :D
  14. What in the world is Saving Awowogei? Is this common knowledge or something? I've never heard of it -.-
  15. This should go in general guides.
  16. I need raw bird meat, as in http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?rs2item_id=6380 As opposed to raw chicken. Or can they both be used?! That would make things a lot easier!!
  17. I've got 500 gold charms that I plan on using to make terrorbirds, so I need raw bird meat for the 2nd. I've been trying to buy them for max in the ge for the past 3 or 4 days now, and haven't gotten a single one. According to the tip.it items database, the only shop that sells them is in Oo'glog, which requires As A First Resort, which I haven't done and don't plan on doing. Of course you can also get the meats from hunting... but getting 500 of them would take ages. So, is there any other easy way to get raw bird meat? Perhaps someone has a few hundred I could buy, or if you're reeeally nice could buy some for me from the shop and sell them to me? I'd pay max price for them, you can use junk, whatever, I really don't care how much it costs (within reason -.-), I just wanna get this damn meat! Hopefully someone can help. -Thanks
  18. Although I probably won't enter, I love the idea, and hope that it doesn't end :( You should try making a banner or something for people to copy into their sigs or put a link in your sigvor something. Will help to make it a bit more popular :D Good luck! Look forward to seeing results for this week... If it happens?
  19. One of the best training spots for obby maulers is seagulls at port sarim. Hardly anyone there, and good xp with 1 attack. As far as making money goes, I would suggest getting a skill up that can make you money, either woodcutting, fishing, mining, etc. Or, look around the guides section here and try to find some good money making guides. Lastly, in my opinion, you don't really need range. Sure, rune knives for lowering and then maul for ko is good, but one thing you'll find is that people safe like mad against knives. On my mauler I'm 1 range and just use a steel dagger (p++) until they get poisoned, then maul away. With recoils its quite effective (especially against rangers with knives! all the little hits from dagger + recoil + poison really add up without them realizing it), and come on, who safes against a dagger? :D But if you do want to get range up, it doesn't really matter. After 60 attack is fine, just make sure it doesn't start to affect your combat level. Good luck! Maulers take a while, but are totall worth it, trust me :) Edit: I would also highly reccomend getting 5 attack. I did on my mauler and I found that it is a HUGE advantage over maulers with 1 attack. Chances are your max hit will be about the same as theirs, but you'll be hitting them much much more. It can be very frustrating getting a 20+ hit, red barring someone, only to hit 3 0's after, and not getting the kill. With 5 attack this rarely happens.
  20. Rs exp rates are much much lower than WoW. I'm currently a level 76 on WoW, and its about 1.6m xp from 75-76. However, I'm getting about 2k xp per kill, and 20-30k xp per quest i turn in, which is about 1 every 5-10 mins, and almost always involves killing monsters. So... you're looking at probably 50k xp per 10 mins easily, so around 300k xp per hour. (which is usually around what i get an hour, this is rested btw). Anyways, you can get 1-80 in around 6 days gameplay if you know what you're doing. The fastest i've ever heard of people getting a 99 skill in rs is about 2 weeks, and thats usually with ridiculously fast xp like chins, and playing 6+ hours a day. Therefore, I think its safe to say that WoW xp is faster. Not to mention that I've been playing WoW for about half a year, and been playing rs for about 5 years and don't even have a 99 skill yet (I casually play both games)
  21. Personally, I would get 50 att, and try g-mauling. If you don't like it, then go ahead and get 60 att, and try some ddsing. Also, you're not gonna be able to get the stats you want just through questing... You're definitely going to have to do some grinding.
  22. Bronze bolts are your best bet for training. In general, fast, not very high hitting weapons > slow, high hitting weapons for training, and bronze bolts are perfect for ogres. You should only be using cbows for aviansies, or other high level monsters. When you're training on a low level monster with low def, bronze bolts are much better.
  23. Yes, MTK = Manage Thy Kingdom, and you need the quest throne of miscellania to begin, and it helps to do royal trouble too. (I think its royal trouble, can't really remember) http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=manage_thy_kingdom.htm Theres the tip.it guide to MTK, which will give you a general idea of it. There are some good guides on it in AOW/general guides, however I believe atm 10 workers on fish and 5 on flax will give you the most money. Hehe, marshmallow man ftw :)
  24. I'm not really sure how good double astrals are for money, but whatever you're doing you should definitely do MTK on the side, free 500k or so a week :P
  25. Well, people got angry because Jagex's solution to these problems were... well, "not liked". :P
