Convenient, I have 5 99 skills : In order of exp: 99 hp: Because it covers all combat stats, which I love. 99 defence: Favourite melee stat. Had to pick one to train slayer with anyway lol. 99 attack: Um, combat for life? 99 strength: Same as above? Last melee stat to reach 99 though. 99 range: Cause range is awesome!

Which one is better? Emerald bolts hit harder and do a lot of poison damage (especially considering how long it takes to kill a metal dragon, even with such a good weapon), but pearl bolts have a special that does a lot of damage. There's really no reason to use both, is there? I guess that you could switch to pearl after poisoning... I'd use the mith. The special effect of the pearl bolts doesn't happen often enough or hit hard enough to make up for the fact that they're iron.

Interesting, thanks for once again giving some very nice information. Anyway to figure out the chance of 1 person ALWAYS being in those unlucky few people every time they go for a drop?

I have no doubt though that you were training on something with low defence So perhaps the crossbows greatest strengths are their accuracy and ability to hit through defence better than knives (which have terrible accuracy) The higher end bolts also might be just more effective in general. Wyverns drop em lol. There is really no super effective way to get bolts other than smithing or buying, since they are dropped in low amounts (less than 20) by high lvl monsters. Some that drop rune bolts are kbd, dag kings, wyverns

I'd really love to test out the effectiveness of bolts of lower levels compared to their arrow counterparts, however it really would be a waste of time for me since I'm 99 range. Although I have found that using addy and rune bolts against higher lvl monsters is easily the most powerful and effective way of ranging in the game, so I don't see why lower leveled bolts should not be the same. Anyway, if you use the accumulator to pick up arrows for you addy bolts really aren't that expensive. About 400 each, and 4/5 are picked up for you, which works out to like 80gp per shot; barely more expensive than crystal bow. Comparing these to the crystal bow, they hit FAR higher (I hit high 20's with crystal, and I've maxed at 37 with addy bolts (potted + pray, no special effect.) And now cross bows are the same speed as the crystal bow. Maybe I'll go grab the pearl (e) [iron] bolts I have in my bank to compare them to iron arrows, but from what I've seen I have little doubt they're better for training. As for people who can afford it, absolutely spend on the higher level bolts! They OWN!

OMG lol these things own. I'm hitting 38s with rune bolts (no special) And with the diamond bolt special I hit a 40... Maxed out meleers can't even come close to getting the kill on kbd when I'm ranging it. Yay I got a pic of a 40. This is diamond (e) bolt spec (Not even the ruby (e) or dragonstone (e))

Patience... I must be nearing level 99 after 3 days and still no dark bow drop. Aside from that, I'm not really leveling anything since my melee stats are maxed already. Getting lots of defence experience though... :|
