  1. Again, for 5'6", 135lbs is fine. I wish I weighed that much (same height). However, healthy habits go far. Get rid of all the junk food in the house as noted above, and take the time to look at what a serving size of something actually is. A lot of foods are alright in moderation, and you only need one serving of said food item to enjoy it. Although this is less of an issue, check to see if you have low-fat or skim milk in the fridge and switch to it if you don't. Same thing with cheese and yogurt, they still taste the same and have the same good stuff in them, just less of the bad. Cut out sugared drinks, regular pop, that kind of stuff. Try to get more chicken/white meat (although chicken's generally better than pork) into your diet rather than red meats and processed meats. Something I kind of thought of was to take her to a professional sporting event of something she admires/enjoys. Perhaps you can get her back into or into it to begin with by taking a look at their awesomeness and striving to be like them. Even if it's something uncommon like ice hockey, do it, and encourage her to play and support her in it. Really, weight isn't the issue here, and likely won't be, if you get her into something she enjoys doing and provide an example and support at home for healthy eating.

Y'all are super depressing me right now. The only thing going on with me is that my packages still haven't shown up, despite the tracking number saying they should have been delivered three days ago. And that my dreams of playing professional hockey might have a chance if I get my act together (CWHL, you need to have graduated college though, so I've got some time to work on it).
  3. I like it, am interested to see what else you might do though.

FedEx guy just scared the crap out of me, he rang the doorbell and I jumped. Wasn't what I wanted, which was a box of Magic stuff, was a canopy and bungees... Also expecting a dumb book for my summer class that starts in July...

I guess you are, it seems like there's more of us though. I know @Hamtaro is from Michigan also, and a quick member search turned up 17 pages of results of accounts with Michigan as the location. It also might be because I'm spending way too much time on Reddit.
  6. Stalking your profile, I find that I am almost 6 months older than you. /random

Why are there so many TIFers from Michigan? Some reason I always forget and then I see somebody talking about Meijers or summat and I freak; it's like I've never seen any Michiganders on the internet... Got to go to Griffins game on Friday night, they won, but lost on Saturday, they're tied in the series 1-1. Hopefully Detroit wins tonight. Hopefully get some stuff done for my Knights of Ni helmet as well, although I've not got power tool access at the moment. And it looks like rain.
  8. Size: 450x150 ish Render: (sorry about the left bit, I missed it) Stock: http://imgur.com/PNtUfCx <- if you could work that into the background or something that would be awesome Name: Notes: Anything goes, it's Petr Mrazek of the Red Wings/Griffins, if you find a pic of him you like better, go for it.
  9. Yeah, I forgot what they were called, but they're installed. Is there a virtual machine 'client' that is designed to play games?
  10. Yeah. I'm running WinXP SP2 on the guest, gave it 1GB RAM and 200-something MB video RAM. Host is running Win7 with 4GBRAM and 512MB graphics. I have the addon thing from Oracle installed. Any suggestions? I tried downloading the graphics driver for the card in this laptop (AMD Radeon HD 6520G) and installing them in XP but it didn't work, and the XP doesnt like those drivers, I keep getting the found new hardware PCI card and ít doesn't find the driver. I have no idea how to go about connecting the VM to the Internet, which might work but idk. Help please?
  11. As the title says, I want to be able to play region 2 dvds on my laptop in the US, without the change your region code 5 times and then get stuck thing. I have seen varying reports of this being as simple as using VLC or requiring you to copy the DVD. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's wanted to do this, so what's the easiest way? Will Win7 let me change my region to 0 and will my region 1 dvds still play? Reason: I want The Aristocats in German. And potentially other movies eventually as well. Mostly I just want the Aristocats, and it costs the same in German/English as it does in just English, so... edit: I get 4 changes before it locks. But I do have two virtual drives and could theoretically add as many as I wanted, each with one region, and just make sure the disc gets mounted to the right drive, right?

    Textbooks

This semester $265 for my physics book/workbook/onlinehwrequiredthingy and $145 for my German book (should have bought it in the first place, I paid $60 to rent it last semester and needed it this sem too, so I just paid the balance on Amazon... was dumbish but easy). I had the rest of the books from last semester (Chem, Calc, Eng) already.
  14. What deems a household? ie What if there are 2 RS players in one household and both enter?
  15. The Princess Bride Mulan (Disney version) Monsters, Inc. Monty Python and the Holy Grail Pirates of the Caribbean (2nd is best, but any and all but the 4th - still good, not a favorite though) The Aristocats (Disney) The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 1 and Pt 2 My most favorite movies of all time, probably.

  17. Sorry, forgot to mention, clicking next doesn't accomplish anything, it's as if the button is not actually functional, just goes in/out like buttons tend to do. Edit: And I can't click anything else but minimize.

I bought a game on Amazon that I need Steam to download and now Steam is stuck. Someone should fix this for me, I posted a topic in Tech and Computers because I know nothing about Steam. Hopefully it will snow tonight and we will have a white Christmas. At the moment it's cold but clearly green still.
  19. I am stupid and opened task manager, ended it, uninstalled and reinstalled [b/c it kept not responding when I opened it]. It is now updating. Prior request for noob's guide to Steam still stands. [hide=blahblah]I bought Scribblenauts Unlimited from Amazon because it was $7.50 and I had gift cards. I needed to get Steam to download it, so I did, and it appears to be stuck like this now: Is this what it normally would do? It appears to be doing something because of the yellow bar thing but I have no idea. My account is created, but I don't have the icon in the system tray. The window that's open looks like this: Edit: Clicking next accomplishes nothing as noted in my reply below. I do have fairly slow internet, but I picked the right one (I think) whilst installing Steam. Basically, what is it doing, and when can I start downloading my game? A guide for complete newbs to Steam would be helpful too if you happen to have one lying around.[/hide]

Good to hear, I'm going to the endo on Thursday apparently and am not looking forward to my A1C. My last was 7.2 but there's been a semester of college between the two... I've done well in my first semester though, A's in all my classes except Calc 2 (B) so far, haven't gotten my exams for Engineering back yet, but I'm expecting an A as well.
  21. Newegg is pretty good, I have an Acer Aspire that was only $300-$400; while I'm not sure how it handles Diablo or Oblivion you should be able to find a good one easily within $800 that will do that.
  22. Psyched because this is probably the first time in 20 years Tech has someone on the world juniors roster, Blake Pietila will probably be representing the US this year.

Trying to figure out who I should put as a reference for my application for a graphic designer position at my college. I have my graphic design teacher from high school down and need at least one more... I have a vague idea but don't really think it's applicable... Suggestions?
  24. Yes, this is a weird question. But it's my question, and TIF hasn't failed me yet. Why: Small rig to dry out goalie equipment, namely gloves and skates; seems to be an effective way. I'd like this one as it's cheapest: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817170024 Can I plug 4-5 of the fans below into it? I have no idea how to read the specs in terms of 'crap you can plug into it' - am I right in assuming that 1 x 4-Pin ATX and 12V4 x Peripheral are the same thing?/can I plug the Molex connector fan into any of these? But my other options are: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817170016 http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817152019 I'm probably just going to buy these case fans because they're cheapest: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16835209055 Thanks for answering my kind of stupid question.

    Shin Splints

I have them. And I don't run really. I go to college at Michigan Technological University and we have a good number of hills on campus, and my dorm is the farthest from the main campus. I give myself plenty of time to walk to class but my shins are absolutely killing me. A quick google search suggests that my issue is due to pronation of my feet (I have super flat feet) and although I wear decent shoes (Mizuno running shoes), I guess I need to look into different ones. However, foot pronation doesn't really explain my awful pain during ice hockey, because the skates are different and all of that. I play goalie, and my coach has us do skating drills for half of practice, and most of the time I can't manage it because my shins hurt so much. I try to stretch them but that only helps for a short period of time. I have calf sleeves that I got, and they help a little bit, but not enough to 'make it go away'. I will be calling the sports injury clinic and seeing if I can set up an appointment. I figured if you all had any experience with this it might help a bit, but rest assured I am going to a doctor when I get back to college (on Thanksgiving break). Any advice on getting rid of the pain, not causing any more damage, whilst continuing to just walk around campus and hockey twice a week? Something that I thought might be interesting is how the Vibrams might help me, apparently running barefoot is supposed to be better for you, does anybody have experience with that? (I'm probably going to hit up the shoe store with the people who know what they're doing tomorrow).
