  1. you can't believe everything that is on wikipedia, and you certainly can't assume that the chinese were the first people to invent it, note that the western civilization was oblivious to the the eastern civilization until Marco Polo explored that area. the islamic civilisation made contact with the chinese before the first crusade (in the 12th century), where they may have found that crossbow. Then the crusade and the islamic settlment in corduba could easily have exposed the information to the europeans. i'm not saying this is true, however it is completely possible either it is possible or it is impossible and we do not know anything until we ask a professional historian, the internet is quite deceiving sometimes. no, i know the islamic civisation made contact with the chinese in the 12th century, and i know they had a settlemnt in corduba - what i meant was that i don;t know if this is the way it happened - this is just a way it could have happened ok, I understand now The Islamic people were not the first. China traded Rome in 70 AD along with other Western kingdoms after the introduction of the Silk Road. *Is a History major, and is specializing in Asian History*
  2. Here is my thought: Give them fletching up to maple and adamant arrows. That is completely fair since they have access to those bows. No maple trees in f2p you say? The P2P merchants will have a field day with it. The members would be selling thier maple logs to merchants for a killing instead of selling to the general store...its a win-win situation. Nobody loses money...except f2pers who wish to make maple logs. Make it the biggest F2p update since Runecrafting and they will shut up for a loooooong time. And if they don't, tough. Fletching (limited) will be all they ever need.
  3. No whaling, as seriously: Noob! Stop eating Whales! I wouldnt mind seeing you able to catch fish in a net similar to the trawler. Pirating would be very fun, but I think it would be hard to have moving ships on the seas. I think it would only really work as being "what port would you like to sail to" and have the animation on the map like it is now.
  4. Heavier you are = more chance you have to fail the obstacle. The more you know.
  5. Do the "Ghosts Ahoy!" quest or if you have done it, go back. Click ectophial, go up the steps and vioalla.
  6. *Cough*Monkey Madness is all those things and more*cough* Its a spinoff of Grand Tree, very long and challenging, and gives a new melee weapon with a new special :).
  7. Happens all the time. I report on sight for it. In fact, its been happening since RS2 came out and various RSC items had no use.
  8. Randomly clicking at drop parties to make my first set of full rune. Every time, I was just walking and accidentally picked a piece up. I still have that rune set :).
  9. Pheonix, I was a noob. Although I helped liked 8 people through Heroes as a result.
  10. Campaign for a decent minimum wage then ;) The problem isn't the taxes, it's the corporations that are able to take advantage of your time ;) It always amuses me that it seems to be the poorest people in America that have the most republican views, and who are getting taken advantage of the most. As to the topic, clearly it's a ridiculous idea and won't ever come into law. Whoever wrote it knows that also, and has just written it so they can say they tried. I am Republican. I have had jobs in the past year that earned me 350 a week after taxes, because Texas is nice and only takes out SS and Welfare taxes that only add up to 14%. After that, its the company that takes taxes away for your health benefits. You still earned the money, it just does not go into your pockets right away. And the Republican thing is amusing, especially since most Democrats portray us as rich white men.
  11. What the hell evil state do you live in? Texas is the anal Tax state and ours is barely 15%. Most of that money should be going to your Social Security fund...you will be getting that money back when you are 60. So, if you do get to keep your tax money, are you going to be donating to the poor and the needy? I doubt it.
  12. We are not jealous. Many of the people already own full Infinity (such as Frogmite). We are not impressed that you bought it from another player. You could have taken the time to earn it for yourself and you might have gotten a congratulations or two if you had earned the entire set.
  13. 6 of your 9 posts are in this topic alone. Two of the others are about another outfit that is moronically stupid compared to Ahrims. One is a really idiotic comment about random events. Welcome to the forum.
  14. Katanas are designed to be wielded in two hands. You would run into balance and speed issues if you wielded it in one hand, and fighting a la Miyamoto Musashi isn't exactly a conventional way of using a katana. The wakizashi was simply not intended to be a main combat weapon. The "true power" of katanas is something that is overexaggerated by anime fans and Japanophiles in general. The things are on par with European weapons, with only their edge being superior and the rest of them being easy to damage. They weren't designed to cut through heavy armour, so they lack the weight advantage of European weapons. For cutting flesh and light armour, katanas are wicked. Actually if you did all of your homework, the samurai would dual weild a katana and a wakisachi, the katana used for fatal blows, wakisachi used to finish them off, and the quality of metal and design of the katan is far superior to that of an English knights sword, and it was made to pierce through thick armor, mainly that of the calvary units (they had uber armor) Actually, if you stopped watching Anime where some buff Samurai does this, you would realize its almost impossible to control a 3.5 foot sword with a footlong handle in one hand. It is true that many Samurai had a Wazikashi...but that was mostly used for ritualistic suicide. I have a practice sword (weighs a little less than a Katana, actually) and its almost impossible to control that sucker with one hand. It's possible, but very ungainly and almost no power behind the slash. By the time in Japanese history that calvary units wore armor (1550-1600AD), a spear could pierce the armor or the Samurai would reach for his expensive and fancy Arquebus (or in Nobunaga's case the musket) and blow a shot of lead right through the armor. Katana's could not be used on horseback. Instead, Samurai's used spears. However, Katanas were very sharp and could slice through bone like a hot knife through butter if the proper form was used (which used TWO hands).
  15. To be honest, the shield and staff ruin the look. Thats why the wand and book look cool. Its nicer to look like a magician than a wizard.
  16. Well, it does give the max mage bonus as far as staves go. Its amazing for support magic in castlewars.
  17. Great archaologist Barihawk walks through the streets of Lumbridge on the way to the desert. A man in a tattered coat with blotchy patches all over it and a dusty top hat walks over to him and tugs on his white cape. Barihawk turns and sees the elderly lad, who says: "Well, pardon me Govern'r. I twas wonderin' if ya could spot a poor lad down on his luck with a few GeePees?" Barihawk continues on his journey after donating a kind arrow into the beggar's skull.
  18. For some reason my MIDI devices are farked up, so I turned them off. After I reformat, I might just listen to them again. Songs like "Waterfall" and "Fanfare" are really nice. As for the moment, I just listen to my own music. If I have a good Irish drinking song on, you will see my character stop whatever he is doing and dance.
  19. Half the frat boys at my Uni do that. Its like, pick dinner out of fine healthy meal choices, and they go for a massive bowl of Frosted Flakes.
  20. Smithie, I just read the entire thing. This will never happen...ever. I mean, 100% levies are impossible. There is no way a bill like that will ever be passed. Levies can only be passed by Texas law in a reforendum vote. People are not going to double the costs of PG and up movies, games, or toys.
  21. Like whoamygod, you have to pay 14% taxes. People in Europe do not complain about having to pay 49% taxes in some places. American's wish to have a choice in healthcare and schools, so we make them private institutions instead of tax-provided systems like other countries. Your taxes go to improving schools, providing medicine and welfare, building roads, etc. Paying 3 extra bucks to play a rated M game is fine by me.
  22. Ive been playing Day of Defeat (online FPS WW2 game) for three years now. I can fire a real gun. I cant aim that gun at any living creature. Thats right, years of killing people online and I am untouched. Why? Because I do not play the game to kill people. It is not a deathmatch, but a Capure the objective type game. I only kill others in self defense, and concentrate more on capturing the flags than getting "1337" kills. Are those who concentrate on Deathmatch types of play more violent? From what I have seen, yes. They are more aggressive in-game and shout harrassment and insults as they kill away. I think Jack Thompson has a point about games like GTA and such, I just despise his methods. He is a cruel man and a shoddy lawyer. If like, normal people started talking about game regulation and tougher ratings standards, I would agree with them.
  23. People pay taxes on Alcohol in Texas already, I would not really care if there was a small tax on violent games. I'm kind of for regulation on them, and it would discourage underage kids from buying them.
  24. Its actually a longbow known as the Seercull...which is ironic since he is wearing mage armor wielding a weapon designed to kill mages. The "ninja" is wearing Rogues Attire, but the sword is not in the game.
  25. Its actually Rogues Outfit, but the weapon is a Wazikashi. I wish every item in those images were available to players, including the ability to wield fishing rods and sit down.
