  1. Twelve girlfriends before the age of 15? That's less "girls liking me" and more "I can't keep a stable relationship." I can't really even think of a meaningful relationship happening before the age of 14, anyways, unless it's the "I'm only doing it because it's cool stage." I'm not saying you are a nerd or geek or whatever, just that you must not have the terribly best luck with women to rotate through them so quickly.
  2. James Horner, nuff said. The guy knows how to make music for sci-fi. His work on Star Trek is amazing. The Matrix had some good music for some scenes, I wasn't a fan of the franchise music, though. However, Chateau + Stairway fight scene = the win. I like the work of Jerry Goldsmith as well.
  3. King of the Hill is only really funny to Texans, who actually understand the humor. Simpsons was ok at the beginning, not so much now. It's become a satire, and sucks at it. Family Guy is crude, and way too random. There's less emphasis on good episode development and more on finding random pop culture to throw in there. American Dad was doomed to fail, and is only kept alive for the blundering hardliner left idiots that laugh at it. It sucks at satire. Period. You might as well throw wrenches at some guy's crotch to get the same laugh if you are a fan of this show. Futurama is witty, and I love it. "Let this abomination unto the Lord commence!" Truly it was the bastard child of Matt Groening due to The Simpson's popularity, but it was the better show.
  4. Never said I did support homosexuality, emphasis on "ity," but rather the homosexuals themselves. And yes, I was playing devil's advocate there. While I do have my own opinion on homosexuality, I would never deny them rights. My father and I have been in literal fights over gay marriage, but to be honest, it doesn't hurt me. The only form of gay marriage that I would oppose is to have a wedding in a church. It's like pissing on God's front doorstep. However, if a couple really loves one another, they can do whatever else they want (and get a liberal pastor, if they can find one.) And bah, I digress.
  5. Now Ginger, what about me? I for one fully accept homosexuals as my brothers, and will treat them as I would want to be treated. However, I am completely against homosexuality the practice, to the point that I would deny rights to those to openly practice it (keyword, practice. As in they are actively having sexual relations with the same sex, not just being a homosexual). Am I closed minded? Hating a practice but not those who practice it?
  6. Then please do so I can apologise profusely. As for the person coming to my door in all honesty I'd likely ask them to show me something totally novel about thier religion which I've probably never heard before and after doing so, if it's nothing new, I'd likely say thanks but no thanks. If you'd like to sell me your religion I'd love to hear something that I've likely never heard before. I mean something interesting as hell (not literally; I'd imagine hell is a pretty monotonous place, lol :P ). Shoot me through a PM if you'd like. But again, if you could, which it seems you'd have no problem in doing, show me where I was as you accuse me and I'll apologise to you. Bah, you've grown up in the past few months. I do remember you being a little more...shall we say...blunt. But you've been a good little boy for the first 10 pages of your posts :P. Give me a few days to come up with a PM. I am really tuckered out from work, and tomorrow is going to be worse. The joys of being an RA. EDIT: Dangit! thanks for not being ignorant. :) I'm probably getting you confused with someone else, Warri0r. However, In the span of one year you have aged like 10 according to your posts :P. I like that.
  7. I'll listen to your religion if you come inside sit down for a cuppa and listen to mine. I'm yet to find someone who is selling me religion willing to listen to me if I listen to them. Hell, I'd probably love to. As long as it doesn't involve too out there things like virgin goat sacrifices.
  8. I think a fair amount of closed-mindedness is essential. Everyone needs their own unchanging core beliefs. No matter what they may be. And Assassin, I've since changed that position :P.
  9. Texas Tech University, one of the best schools in Texas. It has one of the better History departments in the US, and definitely the best Teacher Training Program in the Southwest. Located in Lubbock, Texas, the home of rock legend Buddy Holly. And yes, we are the city from "The Day the Music Died." The campus is beautiful, and the architecture is Spanish Mediterranean.
  10. Jeez... talk about skewed logic. A better way to look at "open minded" would be "open to different and new ideas". This doesn't mean you have to accept them, you just have to be "open" in the sense that you try your best to understand them. Some you may accept, and others you may not. That swings both ways, though. I may research and try to understand things, but if I do not accept them I at least made the effort. While I am conservatively Christian, I do look into things to understand them. Know thine enemy, if you will. I don't shut my ears and go "la la la."
  11. Ok Warri0r, if I were to come do your door and try to sell you to religion, what would you say? Looking back on some of these religious topics, I can find several times when you are "Intolerant of the beliefs and opinions of others" while you criticize me as a Christian for being "stubbornly unreceptive to new ideas." And the majority of anti-religious people in this forum are not only willing to be intolerant of my beliefs, but they are not willing to be receptive to the notion that they may be wrong.
  12. A newborn baby has no opinions on anything. It is relying on thoughts such as, I am hungry or I am not happy. It is then taught to make it's own opinions by others. And it will probably adapt to the opinions of these others. A child does not have the ability to truly make their own decisions until a much later age.
  13. Not all religious types are dogmatic, Satenza. Many religious people around the world have researched and studied in order to discover their faith, therefore making it their own opinion. Yes, there are people who blindly follow religion in a dogmatic practice. These are also generally the people who think they are religious because they give money to their faith and attend worship maybe twice a year on holidays. I personally am closed minded when it comes to eating out. I hate Japanese food and am not willing to give it a second try. Therefore, I am closed minded. No need for "" marks around it Satenza. By refusing to accept something because you believe otherwise, you ARE closed minded. Show me a true open minded person and I will show you a rainbow in the palm of my hand.
  14. Exactly. Being close minded is having a position while being open minded is being undecided. By calling it "open or closed minded" you are simply exchanging in hyperbole, giving them positive and negative connotations, respectively. And yes, it is a really cheap way to get ahead in a public debate. "I'm right and your wrong because you are a closed-minded person" gets played far too often on these boards.
  15. I think it's funny that most of the people here attack Ambassador for not being open minded. For one thing, most Christians on this forum (big posters, not small time) do not attempt to force their opinions on others. However, many atheists, agnostics, and others frequently attack us and try to push their beliefs down upon us, while having the audacity to call us closed minded. The hypocrisy is paramount. And yes, I am closed minded. It's not really an insult by the way. It just means that I know where I stand.
  16. At least stop plagiarizing and give us your damned opinion in 8 paragraphs.
  17. Not to sound mean... but I don't even know where to start correcting you :| 1) Thats the rest mass energy equation, not the equation that says how much energy is needed to reach light speed 2) if you eliminated mass, M would equal zero not one. 3) You can't eliminate mass unless you turn it into energy which isn't something you want to do to astronauts 4) Anti-gravity makes things be weightless, but they would still has mass. 5) Being able to go faster than the speed of light does not change the value of C, C is a constant that quantifies how much energy is given off when the bonds between neutrons of mass M are broken to form more stable bonds. Yea... so, while you may have a valid point that we can maybe break the speed of light, you used the wrong equation and made quite a few false assumptions. :( Which is why I am a historian, thank you :P. It's only been three years since I set food in a science lab, and that was for astronomy.
  18. Light speed can theoretically be broken. E=MC*2, right? The technique most people are hypothesizing is to create enough Energy to break the light barrier. However, why not change the rest of the equation? By eliminating mass, energy would then equal the speed of light. We need to perfect anti-gravity devices to break the light barrier.
  19. I was interested for about half of that, then when I got to 2007 started laughing uncontrollably.
  20. Trust me, you would be instantly dead FAR before 0*K.

I don't really like tuner cars nor do I wish to see a boy turned into a girl in his lingerie. So Misfile isn't for me (tried reading it about two years ago, I think).
  22. It's not just American celebrities, bud. It stretches from Iranian TV all the way to Bollywood. Hell, I can think of David Beckham right off the top of my head getting away with something because of his celebrity status. It's a worldwide phenomenon.
  23. I was actually trying to make the point that LP is only trying to make himself look good to the European presence here that does not seem to like America, and if it really came down to it, he would rather stay here than move somewhere else. I in no way asked him to leave the US because he does not like it. It was a rhetorical statement. And by the way, I am of Confederate heritage, I am the farthest thing from a redneck you can find, and I drive a Saturn, thank you. The only time I fly the Confederate flag is on Memorial Day, and I fly the CSA flag, not the redneck Stars n' Bars. And Jackalope understood me. While I don't agree that Celebrities get away with this junk, we can't really do anything about it without violating the rights of every American. They have a right to legal counsel, any counsel they want. We can't force a legit lawyer on them. EDIT: And no, I am not a blind "I LOVE AMERICA" person. I have my faults with this nation too. However, it does not change my belief that we have it better than a good bit of the world in many regards.
  24. No, solution: kill all celebrities. Better would be to take Shakespeare's advice and kill all the lawyers, but that would get messy.
  25. If the D in your location stands for Dallas, think 400 miles west. If it means my location, look outside your window. :P
