Currently I'm at McDonalds, but hey, you've got to start somewhere. I don't know why everyone laughs when you say you work at McDonalds...I mean, I can get jobs elsewhere with a 96% average, but who cares? Its right around the corner, and has great shifts. Fine by me. I'd like to be a Computer Engineer when I get older, but I'm having second thoughts. I love the whole computer thing, love working with computers, but I hear jobs are low atm? A lot of them are out of work? I dunno... Perhaps I'll go into the business side of computers, not too sure. Either way, I want to work with computers. Whether it be programming, building, engineering, marketing, I don't care. I love almost anything to do with computers!

Well here's a new view of things: Many topics are locked because they stray off topic with pointless posts, or are ruined by immature posters. I have to say, sometimes I do tend to get somewhat heated, but only because of previous immature posters. However, topics should NOT be locked because of a heated arguement. Instead, a warning should be given to each person involved. If 1 person gives a completely immature and rude post, thats a warning. 3 warnings = lock. I also believe admins are way too soft, to be honest. Don't hesitate to hit the ban button (assuming its a button :lol: ) but you get my point. Ban these immature losers! Its AMAZING how many times a single guy can post amazingly rude and stupid THREADS, not even posts, but entire threads, and still not even get a warning. Spamming the boards, making stupid remarks, and nothing happens to em. Some of them are funny, so leave those guys, but just give em a warning at least. Ban the stupid spammers, and I'm sure tip it will become a much better environment, and in fact, I guarantee it. So yea, as far as the "too strict, locking too much" thing goes, I agree, and disagree. DON'T lock bumped posts, as long as they have a tiny bit of potential for discussion, its ok! However, you all should be locking several of the same topics, gj thus far on that! Instead of creating new topics, bump an old one, if possible? I don't know really what else to say, the mods have been doing a pretty good job imo. The only thing is their response time, a bit slow, rude/inappropriate topics stay open for hours at a time, even if I pm a mod about it. However, I can't expect a mod to always be on, so I'm not complaining. I hope you will at least read over and consider any word that I have said. These are just my opinions, I'm not telling you how to do your job around here or anything, as you were chosen to be a mod for a reason! It's just a bit of insight from a non mod, hopefully allowing you to see things from a bit of a different point of view. Keep up the good work! Note to poster: Calm down. Hmm, i'll bet it's the cpu fan. From personal experience, my CPU fan has always sucked. I ordered one online from tigerdirect, computer runs nearly silent now. Err..to be honest, the way I could tell it was the CPU fan would probably make a lot of these techies here mad at me :lol: , but hey, there was only one way I could be sure. I kinda used my finger (carefully tho) and slowed down the CPU fan, until it stopped. I dunno how dangerous that was, maybe stupid, but oh well. It sure worked. Once I stopped the CPU fan, my computer was 100% silent. No noise at all. All of my jet engine roaring was coming from the fan, which is actually an AMD brand fan, which came with the computer. So yea, i'd look into perhaps buying a new cpu fan?

And this won't happen for 2 main reasons. Aunt Petunia could never kill Voldermort, even if she was a witch, which JK Rowling has said she is a muggle, she wouldn't have used magic for years, and would obviously not be very good at it! Funny kid!! As for Harry's love interests, I think it's Ginny or Luna for sure. I can't make up my mind which tho. It'll be kinda pointless brining in a new character, or putting him with someone so clueless, like a Patil. Ginny and Luna have just shared several of Harry's experiences, and they have something large in common. Whoever he dates tho, will have an experience with Voldermort themselves.

Well, it depends on what you define the "end of the universe" as. Eventually, when you travel past all planets and other things, you will (probably) just see all black around you. How do you know if you are travelling forward? Maybe you're saying still after a certain point, who knows? You can't really tell at that point. Of course, well actually, not of course, because we don't know, but chances are there's no barrier or wall at the end of the universe :lol: Just imagine..coming to a point where you just hit a wall in the middle of nowhere, and you cant see it either. Yikes...I doubt its anything to worry about guys, but I suppose you can't help but be scared, especially in your case, if its so close to home. Hopefully nothing happens. It's just a precautionary measure, and usually in such cases nothing ends up happening, or its taken care of. I'm sure you're in good hands, nothing has happened thus far, and I doubt it will. Scary nonetheless, and I can't imagine what its like down there. Theres not much info out yet, I'm watching CNN, have read the articles online, seems kinda scary to tell ya the truth, but I still doubt anything will happen. Everythings being kept quiet? Ah, yes, book two. I heard about Spinners End being a chapter, so now I get why you thought about Aragog. However, I still can't possibly think of how he would play a role in the story, at this stage? What reasoning would there be to bring him back into the story? Anyone?

Oh, didn't see Antrune's post about it being leaked. True, 2 men stole a copy of it, but they were caught, and actually have been ordered by a Judge not to reveal any contents of the book. Things people will do for Harry Potter... :roll: To GSW....I don't really see Aragog's importance in the story anymore? I'd say he's gone for good? What exactly would his role be? As for Grawp dying, I somehow think Grawp will have something to do in convincing the giants to joing Dumbledore perhaps? :? Just a thought.

Heh, I was going to post this a few days back, but thought it was a bit too early. We're approching the last week now, Less than 7 days to go! I, like most here, have pre ordered it on Amazon.ca! Guaranteed arrival on the first day, so I'm pretty excited about that. I just re-read the series, finished yesterday. I'm all set for book 6, everything is fresh in my head! As for the "reading race" I think it's kinda pointless. Sure, it'll be fun to see who finishes it all first and whatnot, but if you think twice about it, do you really want to rush thru such a great book? I'll take my time, and make sure I get every last detail. I don't want to have to read it twice to see things I missed the first time around, i'll try and get everything in the first time. I'm hoping to have it done within 2 days. Should be a great book tho, as I said, I'm pretty excited about it. It's kinda odd tho, cause I'm a 15 year old teenage boy who likes basketball, computers, and rap music, yet I'm reading Harry Potter. I defy all Harry Potter reader stereotypes :lol: But I guess that says how good the book really is. If it can make me read it, it has to be something special! I have no clue what'll happen in HBP. Who is the HBP? I have no clue. I'm thinking its probably a new character, perhaps the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, whoever that may be. I hope Dumbledore becomes the new Minister of Magic, and leaves Hogwarts to be run by Headmistress McGonagall...that would be pretty interesting! I'm not sure what'll happen to Azkaban however, with the Dementors now taking orders from Voldermort? Who will replace the Dementors? Will all prisoners be running wild with Voldermort now or what? I'm expecting Malfo, Neville, and Grawp to have huge roles in this novel as well. Perhaps Dumbledore dies, leaving Harry Potter as the only one who can now face off vs Voldermort? Will the Wizarding world turn to Harry Potter once Dumbledore dies? I dunno. Just a thought. Since, afterall, it is Harry Potter, and only Harry Potter, who can kill Voldermort. Remember, Harry Potter's life must include murder. He will be murdered, or become a murderer. Eitherway, one of the two must die in book 7. All eyes will/should be on HP at the end of book 6, which is why I think Dumbledore may die. Just my theories! :P We'll find out on Saturday the 16th!! :P Bmw

I agree, and disagree. What these countries are currently doing in Iraq is terrible, and noone can say otherwise. Hundreds of innocent civilians being killed...no matter what, is a terrible thing. However, I believe that this is a sacrifice towards a better world, rid of terrorists. In Iraq, the purpose of it as displayed in the media is to create a better world for us all. Terroist attacks are just that, terrorism. Such groups admit it, they admit being a terrorist organization. All they are here to do is cause mass destruction and chaos, nothing more. They are not solving anything by fighting, not in the least bit. You can say something similar about Iraq (to all the anti Bush fans out there) but you still have to admit, at least the tiniest bit of progress has been made. Terrorists aren't solving a thing, and they are attacking rich nations at that. Iraq is a third world country, and although we should be helping them rather than attacking them, it still remains that, a third world country. Poverty, disease, inequality, and the list goes on. War is expected in such countries, although it is a terrible thing. The Western world is much more advanced, civilized and developed (in most cases) and this is exactly why it is such a shock to see attacks - that aren't nearly as bad as whats going on in the Middle East- happening so close to our homes. Terrorists main goal (imo) is to do exactly what they did yesterday - causing chaos and panic once more, world wide. They have successfully re-established themselves as being fearless, and still able to live today, despite George Bush's efforts to "smoke them out of their holes" They have proven that they are still alive and in power, and that it'll take more than bombing Iraq to stop them. Btw on the spelling, I believe they should be referred to as Al Qaeda, but various sources also note the group as Al Qaida. So I guess, take your pick..just thought I'd let ya know, kinda confusing to see all these random spellings of it on this topic! Also, whats up with Osama Bin Laden? Oddly noone has mentioned it, but a good one is Troy Achilles, played by Brad Pitt is an unbeatable god like figure. He killed thousands of men, and was/is a legend. He kills Hector, who is the Prince of Troy, next in line for kingmanship. They fight 1 v 1, Troy kills him. This is the first part where protag #1 dies, being Hector. Achilles is also a protag, which is what makes the movie so great. Protag vs Protag, theres no real good or evil. You root for both of em to win. In the end, Paris, Hector's brother, kills Achilles with a shot (arrow) in the ankle.

Still, no luck. I've tried everything I can possibly try, and have started to look for cheap places to recover my data. So far, the cheapest I have found will cost $300 Canadian. I don't know what i'll do, its hard to place a value on pictures and memories... :x

Well, I have tried the Windows Xp Cd yesterday, no luck. It will just freeze at the "Setup is loading Windows" screen, and not go any further. I've googled that, and everything says its an IDE driver problem, which is exactly what it is. It also says "Pri Master HDD Error" when starting up, dunno if I already mentioned that or what. I have also tried Knoppix as of this morning, but it does not recognize any hard drive. :cry: As for your program merc, I have no idea what to do with it :? Slowly losing hope...this really, really sucks. Thanks for helping guys, appriciated! Hopefully something will be figured out.

Well first lemme start by saying if this issue is not resolved, I will be leaving tip it, due to my sister killing me! She's always telling me to not touch her computer, I'm always saying dont worry sis, I wont break it or anything! I know what I'm doing! Well, seems as if that isn't the case. She went away this weekend, and my computer broke on me. I thought no big deal, dont panic, use her hd to back the files up, and reformat. So, I did this. Also bought a brand new 80gb hd in the process. So after countles hrs installing things back, my computer was up and running! However, upon starting her computer now, it says Primary Hard Drive Failure, and won't boot beyond the first screen. So here I am, staring at the very first boot up screen. I'm talking about the screen that comes up when you first turn on your computer, that usually says your processor, and checking nvram. After 5 mins, I can finally get it into the BIOS, where it identifies my hard drive, but incorrectly. It says its a 40gb hd, when its a 30gb hd. After that, I can't do much more. I have tried setting it as primary master, primary slave, secondary master, secondary slave. I have tried connecting it to this computer, and accessing it thru my computer. The computer recognized it again, as a 40gb hd in the BIOS, and did not pick it up upon actual startup, as it did not appear in my computer ad a D drive, which it should have. I have tried the hard drive on several different computers, so I know for a fact it has nothing to do with any component besides the drive itself. I have taken it into the computer shop, and was told nothing can be done, it is a dead hard drive, and to access the files i'd have to send it into the pros to do it, which costs like $500. I have googled the problem, and cannot find much more beyond people that you can send it into, who charge a bunch of money, from said $500 and up. There has to be something I can do! I mainly want access to about 10mb (yeah, very small) of documents, and a ton of pictures, which can no longer be recovered. I cannot afford to lose these pics and docs! So again, its a hard drive failure. I cannot access the hard drive whatsoever. Well of course, first thing to suggest is update your sound drivers!! If it still doesn't work, or finds no updates, roll em back a bit. Also, check your system volume settings on the computer, rather than the speakers itself. It's possible that they're turned off, on mute or something.

Surely you mean "Passing Presents" ? Anyhow, my parents don't give me a thing for my 95% average, but why should they? To encourage me? If I'm getting good grades for a reward, whats the point? Gotta work hard for yourself, noone else. To motivate me? Why should a bribe motivate me to do my work. Again, if I'm not motivated in the first place, there's no point. Or is it simply to reward me on a job well done? Well, can't argue much with this one, but still, when you get a "present" for good grades, it seems like the good grades weren't expected. My parents expect the best from me, so when I do great, its no surprise, and no reason for award. Oh well, I gotta admit, I'd love a present lol, but I'm not complaining. I just do it for myself, my own personal satisfaction! :P
