What the heck is this topic about? It seems like anything having the least bit to do with War always turns into an "America sucks" discussion :boohoo: Correct me if I'm wrong, but M.A.D. was the term first used in the Cold War by McNamara, to describe the series of events that would unfold if a certain country (being Russia) attacked America will full fledged nuclear force. What nuclear capabilities does Iran, or any Islamic-dominant nation for that matter, have? True, Iran has been supposeldy conducting nuclear tests for over a decade now, but there still is zero evidence suggesting that Iran currently owns a nuclear weapon. Furthermore, the arguement "Kim Jong Il will sell Iran a nuclear weapon" seems kind of stupid to me. North Korea hasn't even (reportedly) done tests on their own nuclear weapons, yet alone begin selling them to Iran. Let's say, magically, Iran did have a nuclear weapon. Would their first target really be the United States? They simply don't have that sort of technology to send a nuclear armed weapon across the Pacific, to hit the US. No, North Korea doesn't have a working weapon which can do that either. Israel is and has always been their main target, and in addition, Israel is a neighbouring country. A strike of that magnitude would be on Israel, not the US. (I don't know about the effects of the radiation, nor the geographic diameter...so don't flame me if attacking Israel would cause health problems in Iran). So all of this MAD talk is just useless garbage and propaganda, used by conspiracists and pessimists to instill fear into our minds. Anyone care to place a $1 000 bet (reasonable amount) on the fact that no nuclear weapon will be used in August? We could probably even bet on no nuclear weapon being used in the next year. After that I'm not sure, Kim Jong Il is pretty crazy. :lol: But are you seeing my point? To discuss MAD occuring anytime soon, yet alone in forthcoming days, is just stupid. :-#

Saddam isn't like Hitler...how can you compare the two, other than the fact that they've been labeled Dictators? It's like saying...The New Kids on the Block and The Beatles are the same #-o I'll put words into Dangeresque's mouth here, and say noone wants to turn this topic into an arguement on whether the war in Iraq is just, or not. I really don't understand why you posted this story in particular. There's a ton of things you could have posted about that are going on in the news right now, was this really the most interesting thing you could find? In other news, a 5 year old strangled himself to death recently. I made that up, but I'm sure it's happened. Things like this are in the news all the time. Don't get me wrong, it's incredibly unfortunate, if it's true, but that's the world we live in. We were given this thing called a life, and sadly it can be taken away in seconds. With billions upon billions of people on the earth, it happens quite often. What I'm just stressing on is the fact that this was a pointless post really :? Plus, I love Big Brother. :P

I used to play WCIII, but it never really caught onto me. I'm playing AOEIII right now, which imo is a lot better. It's so much more realistic, and the graphics in AOEIII are better than WCIII (which was already awesome btw, there's no chance anyone can diss WCIII graphics). AOEIII is amazing!!!!! \

There wasn't an attack, just a foiled plot. No reason for anyone to be freaking out, they arrested 21 men and aren't allowing you to take shampoo on board, but I have a feeling your siblings will be fine :? It's scary to think of how close they were to pulling off the attacks, but what can you do about it? What will crying and freaking out help? Nothing, it just makes you feel bad. If your mom is at home crying, the terrorists are still happy. If the UK and US airlines take yet another sales hit for this, the terrorists are happy. The Lebanese government hasn't attacked Israel for 60 years. What are you talking about? Sorry, I phrased my sentence poorly. The Lebanese attacked Israel in what...1948, right, and got beaten badly? Lebanon hates Israel, as far as I know. What actions of kindness, if any, has Lebanon ever shown to Israel? None, again, as far as I know. Lebanon is one of the Arab nations that hate Israel, and as far as I'm concerned, Israel has every right to be in Lebanon today.

Hmm, Trapical, in relation to what Shadowfax just said, several countries do support Israel. Great Britain, USA, and add Canada to that list. You said that Israel should find out what they're doing wrong? I don't understand this at all. Israel is a Jewish nation, surrounded by Muslim nations. Israel could pay them all $10 Billion (random number) and the Muslim nations would still attack them. It's not necessarily the country doing anything wrong, rather the main case of two religions based on opposing values. In terms of what Mad was saying about Hezbollah's strategy to hide in populated areas...I agree. However, why does the world care, all of a sudden, that Israel is killing innocent civilians in Lebanon? I'm definitely not saying it's good, or it's right, but Lebanon has been one of the countries attacking Israel for years. Yet all of a sudden, Lebanon is being made to look like the innocent bystander here. :?

Nah, I really think Hezbollah will be destroyed. There is no reason for Syria or Iran to put more money into Hezbollah, everyone knows that Israel can defeat them. It's more of a nuisance than an actual threat, Hezbollah will be destroyed, with time.

Three pages in, and finally I have time to enter this thread discussion. Been so busy lately :wall: I'll start off by saying I think this 'turning into' a Third World War isn't likely. A week ago I may have said differently, but the USA has finally realized that it's in their best interests for the fighting to stop. However, WWII didn't start for the Americans until 1942, so we could very well be in the midst of what the future may consider as events of WWIII. Just a thought... With the Hezbollah (Islamic) vs Israeli (Jewish) war, this is a thousand year old war anyhow, so relating it to WWIII is kind of stupid. I don't know the religious reasons behind it (I have some reading to do on that issue...), but the Jihad fighters have been fighting everyone, of all religions, basically forever. Their goal is to have Sharia law imposed on the world, so they'll essentially never stop fighting until that happens. Again, I'm not sure if this is Hezbollahs goal necessarily, but it's related to their attacks, no doubt. Another thing with it, is that the war will go on seemingly forever. I have many Lebanese friends who have such great hatred towards Israelis, even though they have never met a single one in their lives. The common news example is, imagine a 5 year old Muslim child who has just seen his father die, at the hands of the Israelis. This child will grow up with such extreme hatred towards them. The same example can be used, switching the countries/races. It's terrible... It's not a war for freedom necessarily, it's a war for power, as it always is. Again, the ways of Islam are important, and as always, is a strong motive for war. In Israels case, they want to keep their land, and some of their actions suggest they want more Palestinian land. So don't feel sorry for the Israelis necessarily, there isn't a single good/bad side in these wars.. I suppose that's all I have to say for now...

Same here. According to GSW, the USA has at least a $9 Trillion deficit? I really want to find out how you know that exactly... For crying out loud! Can't you people bother to read what others have posted? I just answered it. No, you didn't just answer it. It's easy for you to say "it's just some complex formula", and then go on ranting that the USA has a $9 Trillion deficit (no, you didn't say that in specific, but someone did). I'm just trying to say don't assume everything you read is real :? If whoever says the USA has an $11T deficit, it must be true, right? :?

Interesting topic, but the USA's...or the World's economic problems can't be that easily discussed. I'm taking a few economics courses this year, so I don't have much to say on the whole issue atm, but it doesn't take a genius to say that by simply saying "cut [insert program here] spending" doesn't work. :?

Hey, Well I'm upgrading my computer's main parts, such as motherboard, processor, and video card. My problem is with the connector from the powersupply, to the motherboard. The Biostar Motherboard that I'm going with says it requires 1 ATX 24 pin connector. My power supply has 20 pins, with one of those 4 pin attachment thingies... The problem is, I installed the same motherboard for a friend, who had the same problem. His 4 pin attachment didn't fit into the motherboard while the regular power supply connector was in...so what we did was simply plug in the 20 pin, and leave 4 pins on the motherboard empty. The computer powered up..and worked fine. I'm wondering why that worked, and is it bad for the computer? Will I have to upgrade my power supply in order to properly use this motherboard? How come the 4 pin attachment didn't fit...perhaps that wasn't its purpose? I'm not sure... Thanks for your help.

Hey Pandaman! I also love the Big Brother USA shows...they're so great. Especially this season. I've been away for the past month, but I downloaded the episodes and had a 1 day marathon to catch up. This season is AMAZING!!! I love almost all of the people on the show, its so interesting! I'm on the other side of the fence thought, I'm going for S6 ftw! :wink:
