Agreed! A ton of teams have been "screwed" in these finals, and we all know it, England was nowhere close to being "screwed". For the most part it was a completely fair and even match, thats why it came down to penalties at the end, and even that went pretty close. England lost, get over it :wink: I'm hoping for Brazil vs Portugal, that would be interesting! Although seemingly every team I pick to win LOSES! Argh. So then uhh, I pick...France :lol: :wink:

The USA didn't "retreat" in war terms, they just packed up and left....not because they were scared or losing horribly, because it was an unwinnable "war" (which it wasn't really even), whereas noone won. They did not win, nor did they lose "against" Vietnam.

The USA just didn't win in Vietnam, and made the situation worse in the country. They hightailed it out when things got bad, leaving Vietnam in chaos. Against Canada (Britain) in the War of 1812, noone won, and noone lost...but yes as mentioned, the Canadians did burn down the Whitehouse, in retaliation for the Americans burning part of our Parliament, and York (now Toronto). Untrue. That's the flaw in education as a whole...I don't study at all, but can pull 90's without a problem. It's not cause I'm a super genius, so I'm not being cocky, it's just because I "soak in" whatever is said in class, and I complete homework. After that, tests are a breeze. However, many other people who have the SAME marks as I do (thus, they are considered equally as "smart") do the homework, but still need to study for several hours each test. I put in little effort, they put in a ton of effort. The end result is the same. As a result, since maybe last year (grade 10) I realized that grades mean NOTHING. Two people can have 99% averages, one can be naturally smart (gifted or something), the other can be a great studier. I'd view the gifted student as actually smarter in reality, but since the grades are the same, Universities value them equally. Completely stupid in my opinion, but there isn't really a solution. That's just how it works :wall:

I'd say in Canada an "A" is from like..85%. :?: I suppose it's just to different to compare...either that, or I'm stupid! I refuse to believe the latter...so..yeah. :-s EDIT: Vov...you say 4.6GPA = 86% Average? This doesn't make sense. It sounds like different areas give different GPA's...which is completely pointless. How the heck do Colleges/Universities determine who to accept, if someone from some noname area has like a 5.0 gpa, but in reality would have marks lower than that of a 3.7 in another area?! Apparently from what everyone is saying, I guess not. AP courses and such...who knows. We have these course levels: Everyday Life College College/University University Say I took all "AP" courses, my gpa would only be 4.0? Many people on this thread are saying over that....and people saying they have C's and B's are saying they have a 3.8Gpa...yet with my marks I'd only have 4.0? Something isn't right....perhaps its just not really possible to compare percentages to a gpa? :? Anyone know?

Eh, you can't really translate a single grade average into GPA. Do you have different grades for different subjects or do they just give you a single grade for the year. Heh, my Average in grade 9 was 94%, of course they give me different grades for different subjects! I can't remember my marks then, but this year I had... Math: 92% Physics: 95% Music: 97% Computer Science: 96% Business Technologies: 97% English: 92% Chemistry: 91% So...anyone? What's my GPA? :? If you need "alphabetized" grade letters, I suppose it's just straight A+'s for every course. :lol:

Lmao at the stereotypes so far already on this thread. Leave your doors unlocked around some areas here, and you'll get robbed no doubt about it. Canada isn't the great safehaven people think, and in Toronto we're just below the temperatures of somewhere like VA, where you're moving to. The US system of education is a bit weaker, but nothing huge. You'll adjust quickly, as the Canadian way of life is greatly influenced by America anyhow. It'll suck not having free healthcare, but in turn, everything else in the states is cheaper! It'll be different, but I am sure you will adjust in no time.
