laptop making weird noises eeek!
More or less, it's the fan. It *could* be broken, it *could* be in needing of a thorough dusting. Take a close look at it, if you can help it, without taking the whole thing apart. I'd tell you normally to have at it, but for laptops, fans are buried under 35 minutes of screw hunting. :(

the new trading system
Get ready to be flamed by a bunch of Jagex lovers and no lifers. Hey, pot! It's the kettle calling! -.- It's been about seven months, these types of posts don't have any discussion value anymore. If you want something in RuneScape, what's wrong with dirtying your own hands and getting it done yourself? Sheesh.

What will happen when the next "mega item" comes out?
And the people who get it off the GE and sell it for a huge price increase through junk trading? Hadn't considered that possibility, but it is a likelihood. *Sigh*

FM needs good update, read tifers ideas 5K+ Views!
Shoot, if I had the money to buy Yews, I sure as hell would be burning them right with you. (Going for 98 FM, banked with Maples) The only real problem with FM is that it has no practical use beyond...level 95 I believe, and even then, it's not a practical purpose at all. Shade/Vyrewatch burning isn't all that profitable/eventful, and getting the supplies for either take a lot of time. It's a good skill, it just doesn't have a practical use in the game anymore. What good is it burning Magic pyres if I'm going to get the exact same reward as I would burning Yew?

What will happen when the next "mega item" comes out?
I doubt that the item will be "junk traded", since like another poster stated, CoinShare will ensure that the item always comes in at median range. So that means, regardless of what Jagex sets it to, it will grow/decay like a normal high-end item does.

who would win?
Considering that everyone's mutual enemy is Zamorak, and considering just how powerful each boss is, it's going to be a stalemate, save the complete demise of Zamorak.

Armor and Weapon prices are going to crash
I see a huge [bleep]e in beggars, but not so much in armor/weapon prices.

Jagex hiding mistakes with more updates.
Why do we correct you? Well, I'm not really sure myself -- it's just when someone starts to debate a point, sides are drawn, then both sides present their arguments/cases, etc... You're an exception though; when we line up with Jagex's views on something, you instantly make with the childish insults. I don't give a damn how old you say you are, you act like a tween with too much free time who has nothing better to do than to troll constructive counter-points to your arguments. Grow some backbone and accept that people don't always agree with your [flawed] views. That's what an adult does. You also seem to believe that you're absolutely correct in your views. Yeah, right. You've got it so far beyond "backwards", we'd have to create a new word for it. Many of your points are accusatory with only conjecture and [very little] circumstantial evidence, which can easily be rebutted with one or two sentences. Now, I realize that you've been playing for very long, and that you've had issues with Jagex for very long. Now is a great time for you to QUIT THE GAME and DISAPPEAR FOREVER. The community in general, not just here, can't benefit from someone that's as unwilling to accept change as your stubborn hide is. My guess though, and it's complicated, is that ranting about RuneScape is your raison d'etre; for such, we can't really chide you out of it, but it gets damn annoying when you play the same sad record OVER and OVER and OVER again. This is also where I'll draw the sensible line. Either you accept opposing views without bashing the hell out of them, like an adult, or accept that you're nothing more than a complacent, foolish, boorish forum troll. So the best way to deal with your silly rants is to ignore them outright? Okay, I can do that. It at least means that one of us will be walking away with a lot less on their minds, and it's going to be everyone except you.

Behind The Scenes July
It's not hard to think of something hard to do in Lumbridge...you could be forced to mine/smelt Adamant. :P I think the reward will consist of something underground though; probably a new cavern with ores. I could be clutching at straws here; I want to see more Mithril ore rocks in the world though... :(

Runescape HD/Full Screen - What will F2P Get?
By now you should realize that it doesn't matter if/when you were a member at any time in the past; if you're not now, you're not going to expect any benefits. That's all there is to it, really; either you're a member now and get stuff, or you're not a member now and you get what they give you. End of discussion.

Members-only beta: A cheap sign-up shot?
I'm willing to say it'd be about the same as when RS2 was given to F2P. Mounds of lag, but a mere afterthought after about 48 hours. [besides that, even the best servers in the world can only hold X number of connections. Go X+1 over that, and you have yourself either lag/Denial of Service. Jagex is smart enough to realize that, and the only real lag was to the members trying to go to High Detail.]

Runescape HD/Full Screen - What will F2P Get?
Again, it doesn't matter if you'd paid in the past -- you could have given them $5,000 for all I care -- but if that value has ran out, the service is cut off, end of discussion. If you still don't believe me, try arguing the same points you have with your utility company. Let's see if they'll see/understand your side of the debate.

Runescape HD/Full Screen - What will F2P Get?
What about players who's been member but not anymore? This argument is akin to me asking my cable company to turn on my services indefinitely. "I used to pay way back in 04, I demand privileges!" To everyone that's saying they won't get the updates: In the NEWS post, they explicitly stated that everyone would be getting HD when the beta is over. Only thing left for debate, really, is fullscreen.

Why does everyone hate F2P?
Members are privileged, freeplayers are not. We generally have no problems with one another until the latter feels they're entitled to something, anything. Of course, I really don't care if they get one or two things. Heck, I've been pushing that they should get Splitbark and Armored boots...
-
Members-only beta: A cheap sign-up shot?
I don't see what the big deal is. They did this with the RS2 beta, then opened it up (eventually) to everyone... Besides, it's an effective advertising tool. Who doesn't want to see shiny graphics when they play a game?

Type in "Device Manager" in the Start search-thingamabob and then find your graphics card.

Jagex hiding mistakes with more updates.
Actually, people dislike things because they aren't directed at them. Why do you think Members gets all hot 'n bothered whenever Freeplayers get an update? Also, many people didn't believe that Farming was a good skill, so they voted (overwhelmingly) against it, and the poll was never to be seen again. So what's wrong with sprucing up the graphics every now and then? It's not like the entire company's wasting their time, either -- there IS a section dedicated to just Graphics, you know... Besides, looking at the same avatar of anything gets boring after a while. Good to change things up a bit after a few years. We can make hatchets, so why shouldn't we be able to make pickaxes? Besides that, you prove that you truly know nothing of Smithing -- no matter what you use to level in that skill, you'll lose either experience or money, period. I don't care about Quick Chat, but it not useless, and it sure isn't something to get all hot 'n bothered over. It's not hard to find an altar nowadays, but many people still want 400% experience instead of 350%. Nothing wrong with their way of leveling, I presume... Minigame, and said minigame still has many applicable uses today. How else are you going to get nails from a Nail Beast? Theory: Garbage in, garbage out.

How to stop RuneScape's new graphics lag once and for all!
So basically, what you're saying is that a machine that is not brand-spanking-new will lag in RSHD? I don't really like guides that tell me to format to speed up my computer, that's a whole heap o' trouble for folk that don't know what "complete and total data oblivion", or in techie terms, "reformatting", mean. I'm also agreeing with ClareJonsson here in saying that you should not use a single zip to back up data. I don't really think you should use a zip if you can help it, period. Only reason I think so is because of flash/external drives -- they're relatively inexpensive, and for most people a 2GB stick can save 99% of their most critical files. The guide also covers "restore partitions". They rely on: 1) The user having the recovery disk, and 2) The user still having the recovery partition absolutely intact. If the user lost the disc and/or reformatted without care/consideration/understanding to existing partitions, they're up a creek, aren't they? I *do* like the cleaning system part, this is something that everyone should do on a regular basis, bar none. Some of the equipment I'll disagree on -- I've done without sinks, Q-Tips, soap, or towels, and I've managed to get out serious dust bunnies with what I had. You do fail to mention the perils of static electricity; as such, even a small spark will completely FRY your machine. All in all, I don't like guides that suggest I can get better performance if I completely wipe everything on my machine, just for one particular application. [if I'm going to recommend something that drastic, it would involve at least a hundred viruses.] As you use formatting as an overarching end-all-be-all to lag, you fail to mention (strangely) that various installed programs, or start-up programs may be the culprit to tons of lag. I've had cases where a machine was easily 4 times faster than mine, and it would finish loading the system about two hours after I had turned it on. Applications like Messengers, virus scanners (although one should be careful), some Windows startup applications, and some other applications may be slowing the machine down. You even forgot that viruses can (and often do) slow machines down. A for effort, D- overall. Better luck next time.

Did you just install the 32-bit Firefox? You're also supposed to install the 32-bit Java, as well.

Runescape HD/Full Screen - What will F2P Get?
Freeplay will probably get everything but the kitchen sink with this update, which means yes new graphics, no full screen. Even if they do get full screen, who cares? It's not the end of the world if they get that kind of support. I just severely doubt it.

My RS HD problem
I don't think he has enough system RAM to be trying to play RuneScape. My advice is to get at least a gig of it, then see if you have any more issues.
