  1. It's always a real bummer when people fail to read the fine print. Really.
  2. It's kinda amusing [and pathetic] to see chaosfox and RobinHoodie go back and forth with this debate that was killed so many moons ago. It was even killed by RobinHoodie. But, just in case chaosfox didn't get the memo, here comes the artillery barrage now. From this paragraph alone I can tell that you've already got some reservations against Jagex. "Make the game less fun"? I dunno where to begin with this one, it's just so damn flawed... Okay, here goes. In case you lived under a rock for the past year and a half, bots/autoers/RWT was rampant, and players demanded a solution to the issue. We got one in the form of one of the [ironically] most rejected and hated update of all time. Many players wanted to see an end to bots/autoers/RWT, and I implore you to find a hundred that would willingly accept the hellhole that was RuneScape 18 months ago. I have a feeling though, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone -- most people that have had an opinion on the update any which way are either sticking it out or long gone. Perhaps you should pick a side. By the by, the GE does a fine job of player to player trades -- if you ever considered using it once in a while instead of bashing it. The only real place where some might find it flawed are the low demand, high value item sector. Everything else runs nicely. So you logged in to one of the Quickchat servers? Jeez, can't you read? There are servers set up specifically for Quick Chat. Besides, for muted players, it's another opportunity to have a conversation with someone else. Got a problem with that? Also, it's been stated time and again that Jagex isn't going to be removing your ability to speak liberally any time soon. If you can't interact with other players on that server, HOP to another server. I've played for six years, and have five active accounts; four of which are pure/PKers. Let me tell you, I never did find PvP all that fun, it was always so overbearing -- honor, safing, noobs of all colors, teletubbies (briefly)... You're also wrong when you say PKing doesn't exist, too. PvP exists in Bounty Hunter. It's not what you remember as PvP in RuneScape, but it's still, by definition, PvP. Or perhaps you're one of those people that are stuck on silly, and can't wrap their minds around that... Not to mention, Fist of Guthix, Duel Arena, and Clan Wars (freeplay) qualify as PvP too, since you're still fighting another player. "I'll take 'Dictionary' for $1000, Alex." "Alright, here's the answer -- 'A testing period for software or utilities, with improvements and fixes; an incomplete project. Also the second letter in the Greek alphabet.'" "What is BETA?" "Absolutely correct!" -.- Don't let the door hit your backside on the way out.
  3. I don't see why not. I did it recently on my laptop when I wanted to reinstall Firefox, and it works just fine.
  4. I vote "Most pointless complaint about a change of all time". For God's sake man, it's just a color. The world will not end if the new chest looks like that.
  5. Yeah, you really don't know, do you...? A piece of coding as complex as RuneScape takes probably months to change. And don't think for a second I don't know; I'm a student programmer, and I've also tinkered with the Linux kernel. [That's 50 MB worth of files, probably 100-250,000 lines of code.] Oh, sorry, you must have missed the news post stating that they read suggestions and feedback from the forums. Here, let me refresh your memory. http://news.runescape.com/newsitem.ws?id=1072 There's also this: Hey dude, I am God. Look, I said I was God so I must be. Of course you won't believe me and say I am full of crap. Same thing with Jagex, just because they SAY they do something doesn't mean they do it. You remember that 1v1 PVP combat game we were gonna get?? Oh ya, it turned into hide and go seek RS style, that is really hard core PVP that people on the forums wanted. Jeez, I don't know what is wrong with you people. You act like Jagex is infallible. Jagex never said it'd be the same as old fashioned PVP. You assumed it would be. Don't blame Jagex for your making an [wagon] of yourself. Also, people don't act like Jagex is infallible. It's just that your arguments are about as constructive as Snakes on a Plane.
  6. Stop whining and start packing. You've done nothing but moan about the updates that have come out, and yet you offer no reasonable alternative to anything that they've done. I'm honestly surprised. Have you been paying for the last seven months? Because if you have, you're more foolhardy than I thought. [seriously, hit the giant X in the right-hand corner and find another forum to troll.]
  7. I'm going to pray that this is a bug. Mithril Dragons + Slayer Mask = good.
  8. Newegg is a good place to find some RAM.
  9. So here's my guess. You don't have enough system RAM to be doing high detail. Let's do some quick mathematics. There's a good chance that this is a discreet (separate memory) graphics card, so that's 128MB of memory allocated to it. Next, we factor in the OS - XP, and how much ram it uses idle - 128-192MB. Then, we go into the programs and figure out how much RAM Firefox would use - 45MB. We'll also add in the required amount of memory for RSHD - 256MB. Alright, so outside of the video memory required to run RSHD, your system is using (with only RSHD open) about 493MB of memory. Heaven help you if you're running anything else. Coming in at the bare minimums is guaranteed to not work as well as you thought. Get yourself a couple of gigs of RAM and that problem should disappear.
  10. LOL? the gameplay is still boring :x (not being fanboy or anything) And there isnt much "depth" to clicking and clicking and clicking. Same could be said about WoW. Clicking and clicking and clicking... Anyway, @armourboy05: Don't get your hopes up (or down) about the WoW fanboys coming over. If they want to see the game in its glory they'll swing by; if not, they'll stick with what they've got. Nothing wrong with that.
  11. Yeah....we knew that it was a FX 5200 when you first posted. Take a screenie of the System tab.
  12. Nvidia GeForce 5200. Which he stated in the original post. That doesn't tell us the OS, processor, and most importantly, the RAM. Good idea to post a screenshot of that window so we could help.
  13. I'm the type of person that would rather work hard to earn their reward. Because of this, I normally would look down on buyable skills, but reading through this thread (and having no reasonable alternative to 80 Smithing, I mean, I'm not going to mine 36K more Coal) made me change my mind. Chinchompa training is a form of emergent gameplay, and as such, no one here could say anything about it being right or wrong. It costs insane cash, but in exchange, you get insane experience. Seems reasonable. There are some players out there that hunted their own chinchompas for 99 ranged, and there are some players that *didn't* buy their raw goods for a "buyable" 99. It's not up to us to say that what they did was right, wrong, or whether or not they're playing "right".
  14. Something is telling me that it's running/ran out of memory. Post your full specs and the driver that you're using. Perhaps a driver update could help, but at this moment, that can't be said for certain.
  15. Don't worry *too* much about Antialiasing, since it looks like you won't really need it :P My advice to you is to manually uninstall Java, then download it from the Java website and install it again.
  16. Here's how: 1) Go to the Java Plugin Control Applet (for Windows it should be in the Control Panel; Linux (GNOME), it should be under Applications -> System -> Preferences). 2) Click on the Java tab. 3) Select the JVM that you're using, then type in the following: -Xmx256M 4) Restart all Java applications currently running.
  17. Seems fair to me. It didn't make sense that Ranged had such a (hyper) fast way of training for such a long time. I can't really justify why it's such a good update atm (exhausted), but I believe that it's still a very good update anyway.
  18. The beta will last until most gamebreaking bugs/glitches can be resolved. At least 3 and a half weeks. More or less, early August for the end of the beta (more wishful thinking).
  19. Be more specific with the error message and your system specs, and we'll see if something is not matching up.
  20. Install IE? Unless you've done some major system hacking to remove it, you shouldn't have to worry about installing it... 1) It's a matter of uninstalling it from the Control Panel, which I do out of habit every time I'm in front of a Windows box. 2) My de-facto machine is actually a Linux box, and while there is an IE4Linux out there, still feels like it's not stable enough to justify its existence.
  21. Also, for those of us that can't install IE (without it working like a schizophrenic robot on a caffeine rush), this guide doesn't help us much. :(
  22. Found it. Apparently, the Express Chipset Family likes to go insane with graphics, but that's not really it's fault -- it's not made to be a card in the same league as an NVIDIA or AMD/ATI card. This is a fix that I found on the RSOF. At this point in time, it might be your best option. QFC: 25-26-58-57063582
  23. I don't think there's much to worry about here. Most GPUs nowadays run hot. Besides that, like another poster said, your CPU is smart enough to know when it's approached the Gates of Hell. Those seem like above-average temps, so to be sure, blow some air in your vents and get all that stuff out of the way. [Just in case you're curious, by the way, today, when I left the new HD graphics idle on my computer, my thermal clock reported 69C. Of course, I'm on a laptop, so...]
  24. Your first hunch is right. There isn't any 64-bit web plugin currently available that supports RuneScape. IcedTea works in x64, but if it doesn't support RS, what good is it to you? Anyway, you don't *have* to uninstall Ubuntu x64, but you do have to install a 32-bit OS. Review this post from the Ubuntu Forums and I wish you good luck with it.
  25. About time they added this feature back in. Been wondering if it was high time for them to finally take it out of the login menu...
