Self-Sufficiency vs. Bought Skills
I guess I'm about a half-and-half person here. Here's my reasoning. I usually *love* gathering my own stuff, and whenever I can, I do. However, because my levels are a lot higher than they were when I got levels every ten minutes, harvesting tens of thousands of goods just isn't my forte. I'm guilty of banking 98 firemaking, but I plan to mine enough Mithril to get either 80 Mining or Smithing -- whichever comes first, I don't care. I guess it boils down to the type of player you are. Some of us enjoy doing the simple things, and others enjoy getting it done yesterday. For myself, I think I like a mix of both.

Why are people so negative about riots?
That would be the best hidden update ever if a guard simply teleported a rioter to the Black Hole.

why is talking in runescape a privallage?
As cliché as real-life parallels are in this situation... Consider just how much of a privilege speaking is when you yell at or curse out your mother. It's not like she's taking away your privilege, she's just disciplining you for abusing it. Same principle applies here.

What about the "buttons" on posts? Can we submit changes to those?

Your thoughts on the new Tif.
Now *this* is the way a forum is supposed to look. It's supposed to look comparable to the site, and not look like an alien to it. Lovin' this theme. :D Of course, I'll probably be in my own little /lair and spitting out my own theme sometime. Either way, this is what theming a forum is about -- taking into account the website.

Giltch ?? or....
I take it you've never done Goblin Diplomacy. That's not a glitch.

Frustrating
It doesn't sound like anything is physically breaking on your level, in that case, it'd be like Devnull said; it's the fault of your ISP. If that is really the case, there's a good chance you could get a discount on your internet bill, provided you have proof. Their services are supposed to be available 99.9% of the time, and if they're [intentionally] breaking your connections, then they're violating their contract.

Support HUMAN JAGEX=no more unfair mute/ban
It's bad enough that they caught you saying that, but you dare blame that on an innocent cat? C'mon now. What cat do we know that can type individual letters and hit the "Enter" button? Just own up to your mistakes, and don't dare blame that cat again.

Why are people so negative about riots?
You know, anyone could write a drawn-out thesis as to why riots in RuneScape are absolutely pathetic, but I'll sum it up in a few paragraphs. Riots serve no purpose in RuneScape, since you always have the option to leave the game. Some of most controversial updates that have hit weren't done because they were a popular move, but because they were a necessary move. If the amount of disdain and complaints from other updates before that were any precursor, then Jagex surely knew that there were people that would like the changes, and there would be that would dislike them. [Although, I doubt anyone believed there'd be any zealots left after seven months...] Second, people use false ideals and irrelevant facts to support their illegitimate tantrum. Anyone, and I mean anyone that dares compare a real-life riot to a RuneScape riot is full of hot air. You can't tell me that riots in various parts of the world can relate to a game. This game is not run by popular vote; it's run by Jagex, a company which so-happens to let you voice your opinion on various things, and lets you influence [to a degree] updates to the game. No one "elected" officials to do a "job" for them in this game, so you really can't demand anything from them. If you're dissatisfied with their product or the direction they're headed, leave, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. Lastly, the players that are still complaining are, ironically enough, still paying to play the game. Either they're stuck on stupid, or they just love to rant. If they were serious about their disdain, they've have left for greener pastures by now. Those that haven't do not have a lot of credibility for their claims, since you'd be hard-pressed to find an intelligent consumer still paying for a less-than-satisfactory product. That's a mini-thesis for you. Riots in RuneScape accomplish little more than proving how immature teenagers are. If they meant to prove another point, they've failed miserably.

Suggest a Style: PHPBB3
I'm agreed 100% on the homemade theme. The only two anomalies that I'd have with it are that it would have to flow with the design of the main site, and be appealing to look at on a consistent basis. Some people prefer bright themes, others (like myself) prefer themes that don't introduce so much eye irritation. Perhaps a poll should be had, listing 7-10 premade themes, and 2-5 homemade themes, and ask the community which one they genuinely prefer (as default). I'll simply stand by a new, homemade skin, and at the same time, hope/suggest a similar theme for the main site can be used.

New Forum Bugs - July 1st, 2008, 8:10 pm (UTC +10hr)
Some of the bugs that I've noticed: 1) If you're online, the "Quote" dialog is superimposed over the "Online" tag. Might be tricky to move it to the Left side, since in reality, the Online tag and our user profile were initially on the Right (phpbb3). 2) Avatar box area is horrendously wide. At a guess, I'd say 200px; shouldn't be more than 120. 3) Join date is in full, instead of Month/Year. This might stretch the box. 4) after post for signature box is a bit over-the-top, in my humble opinion; this could be the *lowest* priority thing, but it'd be nice to see it replaced with dashes. I'll post more bugs as I notice them. Watch this space.

Recommend me a good gaming laptop for 500-800$.
For the price range you specified, you're not going to find a lot of meaty gaming laptops. You can find some decent ones, but if you mean hardcore games -- not gonna happen on that budget. Since I can't find you a lappy in those constraints, I'll just give you some tips. [*:r4rvl306]Dual or Tri-Core processors are the way to go. It goes without saying that a dual-core 1.9GHz processor will outperform a standard 1.9GHz processor. [*:r4rvl306]Find a dedicated graphics card. You can't use anything that's embedded if you want to play games in some decent glory. [*:r4rvl306]Windows XP > * in your case. None of the games you've listed neither use nor require DX10, so find a laptop package that lets you downgrade, and soon -- XP won't be available (legally) past the 30th. [*:r4rvl306]3GB is your maximum for XP. I'll explain why -- XP Professional x64 isn't available to consumers (so it's an illegal copy). That means that your 32-bit OS won't be able to see the entire 4GB of RAM. Besides that, the games you've listed I do believe are more reliable in 32-bit than they would be in 64-bit, but I haven't gamed in years. Just so you know, the laptop I'm using right now would almost qualify as a gaming rig, except that I put Linux on here instead, and games do make the machine run hotter than I feel is comfortable. I have 2GB of RAM, a nVidia 7000M graphics card, and an Athlon X2 processor running at 1.9GHz (runs at 800MHz idle; gotta save those watts). Found it all under $600. I do wish you good luck with your gaming laptop for such a price. If you can find one, let us know.

How high will black masks go?
Regardless of how high they go, I still doubt this will make doing Cave Horror tasks any less painful. But, I think they'll peak at 1M.

Your thoughts on the new Tif.
I doubt it's a matter of skills, since writing CSS isn't hard at all (since it's a markup syntax). It's a matter of time. Besides that, there's no real reason to recreate all of the old skins; if anyone were patient enough to write a new skin design for Tip, it would incorporate some new and exciting features for the new forum. Besides that, I guess this is what you call the "aftermath" of a major attack. Regardless, I'm happy that the staff was able to get so many issues resolved and what-not. In time, if I can't adjust to it, I'll just write my own PHPBB3 skin and submit it in. :P P.S: Fix the amount of smilies permitted per post.

Welcome to the New Era
Dawn, the world forever changed, I guess. At the very least, the site is still up/alive, and the community will heal from this soon.

Forum is coming back but :(
It's really a shame. To think that someone you once trusted would do such a horrendous thing to you guys...and at the cost of tens of thousands of innocent bystanders... What the hell was this guy thinking? Anyway, it's easy enough to thank the Tip.it staff for their hard work. For that, I salute them.

Say Goodbye to Customer Service
Okay... you fail. Can I use the forums if I become a member? (I was unfairly banned from the forums over 2 years ago and never got a reply from customer service about it after dozens of messages sent. I don't know the status of my account in terms of using their stupid forum.) Yes, or no? Yes or no? Yes, or no? :wall: Don't you think if you did something to upset Jagex you'd get punished in one way or another? Seriously, why should I care that you were banned "unfairly" from the forums, which is now your only means of support? If you were acting up on the forums, then there's nothing anyone could do. Guess you're one of the people that has their CS privvys revoked, then.

I think this is accurate...
Sounds kinda like MaxWaterman's forumla to me. I'm a good buddy of his, and he really doesn't mind it if people use that formula as long as they credit him. If you don't believe me, go ahead and look him up on the RSOF. Not hard to find it. ;)

A Summoning Rant...
Find no basis for my rant??? How about the fact summoning gives you 1xp when you "SUMMON" a creature and 30+ xp when you make a pouch, why not incorporate crafting into summoning?? It's called summoning ffs so you should gain XP when you summon or use your summoned object, that's the basis to my rant, I was just saying wow at least have got it right, RS have not..... Well, you'd have a basis for your rant had you and the WoW fanboys left out the part where you think that WoW "has it right". You do gain experience when summoning a beast, but it's a giant balancing act. You either give exuberant amounts of experience for the summoning of the monster and make pouches untradable, or you give very little amounts of experience for the actual summon and keep the pouches tradable. Think about this: if you gained the same amount of experience as making a pouch, or even half of that when summoning a monster, we'd probably have someone halfway to 99 by now. Kinda defeats the purpose if you ask me. I can't tell you how silly it is for you to think that WoW "has it right" when RuneScape doesn't. They're on different scales. So that's why I can't see any basis to this rant -- until you can debate RuneScape's flaws on a RuneScape level, that is.

Nice training spots in the chaos tunnels
Oh, you have to use the facemask against them regardless. http://www.runescape.com/kbase/viewarti ... le_id=1933 ^ Have a read at that near where the dustdevils are.

New Revenant Ghosts!
So, um...where were you for the month of December? I'd say you got off lucky with the Revenant Dragon, to be honest. Knights and Dark Beasts are what you have to look out for.

Gp shortage coming?
Hold the phone. Did you just say what I think you said? Did you just say, in so many words, you're too lazy to cut your own yews, pick your own flax, or make your own natures? Okay, let's be honest, ~211M is a pretty steep price to pay for any skill, but it won't be so bad. Money needs to be taken out of the economy somehow, whether it be by this skill or through Construction. Inflation is a killer, and the only real way to combat it is to take the cash right out of the economy. And, what better way than through a skill that everyone will want to level? What I think will happen is the economy actually becoming stable again. People will want to do more for themselves, instead of whining about every little price change that makes their laissez-faire style of earning cash obsolete. Since I don't know much about economics, I won't promise or guarantee anything, but I do think that it should stabilize a whole slew of things. EDIT: 1.Your an idiot. 2.Do you even no anything about the Great depression? Do you even no what caused it??? By you post im guessing no. it was investment on the stock exchange during the late 1920s, people 'bet' to big and lost out (reasons complicated), this effect snowballd after the first bank folded. 3.Go read a book, and not some "Penguine guide to the great depression" before you mention past topics in history. 4.your an idiot. I skipped the second page of replies and gave my feedback, but this post right here smacks of ignorance. You really don't know how the Depression got started, do you. Let me summarize in a few sentences what a teacher should've taught you by now... [hide=Off-Topic]In the mid-20s, people and major companies had become too reliant on a primitive form of the check. They bought stocks with checks, and they weren't really backed up by anything, not even money. Only some ever were. Around late 1928 or early 1929, the brokers started demanding cash instead of this useless piece of paper. Now, you remember why the Stock Exchange exists, right? It's to give an average Joe a slice of the pie by investing in a company. If that company doesn't have money, it can't stay in operation. If it can't stay in operation, it closes, and if it closes, everyone, including stock holders, loses money. Now, multiply that effect to about 75% of the U.S.'s working companies at the time. That would be what caused the Depression. So, the next time you call someone an idiot based on something in history, make sure you're not talking to the reflection in your monitor, okay? ;)[/hide]

A Summoning Rant...
If you can't find it enjoyable without it replicating some copyrighted stuff/ideas/intellectual property from WoW, then what do you want us to say? Honestly, that's not anything that anyone can stop or change. What you need to do is find the fun for yourself. No one can do that for you. If you can't find it, you can't find it, which means you'd go on to WoW anyway. Sorry, but I find no basis to this rant. Basically it seems like you're trying to say, "Why can't RS be more like WoW?".

Let-Down
I'm sorry that your bubble was burst about this new skill, but what can you do? My guess is that you should've taken the general levels of excitement over this skill with a grain of salt. The "idiotic" posts will stop when you hit the "X" at the top of your browser. You really can't stop those by yourself.

ANOTHER members-only skill-summoning!!
Can you see the sheer amount of irony in your post? Seriously, can you? I wanna know -- in these past two months, have you been watching freeplayers or members about this so-called 'ungratefulness'? BTW, where's my cookie? I never got a cookie. Oh, dang. Uh...talk with the baker about that. He's hanging around the butcher and the candlestick maker.
