  1. Relax this armor is just to test the life boosting mechanic. It comes into the game nice and slow so if something dosent work it mitigates the damage. There will most defiantly be a smithing update giving players the ability to create life boosting armor, maby through mods on current armor. Granted its life boosting stats will be lower then this new uber armor but if you want the extra life you have to risk the phat lewtz. Get some smithing levels now... maby some crafting levels, who knows how they will implement it.
  2. I don't think ill ever quit, this game costs nothing. I quit other mmos all the time, runesacpe is the one I never quit. It's the staple.
  3. While I definitely agree this will be true, I'm still worried as to how Jagex plans on keeping the game bot-free or almost bot-free. They dont.. the trade restrictions were like chopping off your hand because you broke a nail. It was way to much and hurt everyone else. I cannot think of ANY OTHER MMO that had trade restrictions like that.
  4. Thats part of the fun of PvM Im totally with you on this one, what makes stuff like this fun is the glorious buffet of e-peen internet tough guy drama that spews out of these situations like ash from Krakatoa, spreading the hate all over everything. Its marvelous and breathes life into my soul, and the only thing i can compare it to is watching Danny DeVito make passionate love to a ham sandwich. In that scenario instances are the lamesauce on the sandwich and the ham would be the people who want them.
  5. If JAGAX is just messing with us and they dont implement this after SO MANY VOTES ill be pretty disappointed.
  6. I can see both sides of the argument, but I think it's a good idea not to allow untradeable pots in the wild, especially since herblore doesn't raise CB. Prayer and summoning both have advantages in combat that you can't trade, and they both raise CB. Does bring into question whether or not chaotic will be allowed though Here's the biggest reason why it's irrelevant that Overloads do or do not raise combat level - 2003 versus 2010. Ok, so two characters both with 99 in every combat trait minus summoning. Both are Level 126. So, if I pitted both of them against each other in the Wilderness the 2003 character will have an even match with the 2010 character, right? I mean, sure, the 2003 guy only has sharks, super sets, dragon chain and dragon long, protect prayers but he has that AWESOME level 126 combat. He can go toe to toe with a that other guy armed with curses, ancients, barrows, god swords, etc. So yeah, anyone complaining that overloads don't raise combat and shouldn't be allowed missed the bigger picture that ALL EQUIPMENT whether worn because of combat, quests or other skills will raise combat potential. For the longest time, the best weapons and armor was limited to level 60 (70 for range armor) so getting skills above that level did not accomplish much. Then came level 70 and better. All of a sudden guys that were level 126 became deadlier despite already being maxed out in stats. NEWSFLASH: The combat level system has been broken for years. Pardon me for not really caring about your CB level argument wrt herblore. However, it's easy enough for Jagex to modify herblore to affect the combat level. Then there's no reason to complain as players use millions on the best equipment, they'll use millions on the support combat skills. Just think of these support skills as benefits of respective gods. Saradomin is prayer, Zamorak is summoning, Guthix is herblore. You are right. All this debate proves is that the current combat level system has failed in the current game. They should just use the same code from summoning... once you drink the potion your combat level changes. I am not being sarcastic either... your post made sense.
  7. If someone is willing to RISK ALL THAT GEAR and spend the hundreds of millions to get the herb level to get the potions we are talking about THEY HAVE EARNED THE RIGHT TO HAVE A SLIM CHANCE TO ONE SHOT THEIR TARGET Thats a huge risk gear setup to go one shotting noobs in the wild. If you think you are going to take 10s of millions worth of gear into the wild and expect to pray on people guess again...you become the target of opportunity because they are a walking loto ticket... how much are dclaws worth these days. The wild is like north korea... if you go there you are on your own. I dont think bill clinton plays runescape so he will not save you. Big risk big reward. You cant lose what you dont put in the middle. In the poker game of life, woman are the rake. im out of stuff to say. taco out.
  8. Im getting sick of this. If some low level pure wants to struggle with the massive investment of 96 herb so he can one shot other people his combat level thats fine by me. If you want to fight people with restrictions go staking... The wild isn't Switzerland... the wild is international waters where somalie pirates can swoop down at any time and wreck your [cabbage]. Grow a pair.
  9. That would rock... with a nice web interface on the main site... and while we are at it an ingame mail system like in WoW. That would be so amazing.
  10. They need to hurry the [bleep] up with the smithing update... im sure they have something cool planned. And on topic... just make herb potions tradeable and be done with it...
  11. I don't really get why they aren't allowed anyway. They aren't much better than super pots. Pkers thought it was unfair that you can't tell that they have overloads without highscoring them, basically, your combat wasn't affected. I do see the annoyance though, Herblore's sole high level purpose is bonus combat levels - there is no extreme crafting potions just extreme combat pots. In that sense Herblore should be displayed on your combat level if you are using extremes. Old issue though, and I am sure they wont allow extremes to be used though I wonder how they will stop someone from potting up outside the ditch and hopping over. To my knowledge pkers already do that by potting up logging out and switching to pvp worlds This is a non issue anyway... all the babys that dont have high level herb can just level it so they can sit at the big boys table. THe rest of the poor noobs should just die and cough up their loot. Skills > all in runescape. There shouldent be a combat level.... just a total level... issue resolved. Anyhow i bet dollars to donughts that the smithing update they have planned would totally [bleep]ing blow with the current trade restrictions and GE limitations, hence this whole rollback thing... watch they will have a massive gamechanging update first THEN get rid of the restrictions. We all know how the overloads/herb updated went for that skill... people are still trying to recoup the cost from merchants that gouged on the GE.... THE GE CAN SMOKE A [rooster].
  12. The yes votes have a commanding lead.... i think we will win the free trade back. i am so excited about this. I have been playing MMORPGs for almost 15 years and i have never heard of a dev team that would roll back updates like this. As far as i know it just dosent get done. Cheers to Jagax if this rolls out.
  13. If all you care about is fair gameplay, play single player games. Every single MMO is full of bots, cheats, hacks RWT of some description. The Internet isn't Utopia. /thread Their original reason for the restricted trade RWT updates were all [cabbage] anyway. Like runescape is the only MMO that has a RWT community using stolen credit cards. The reason they are bringing back free trade is the failed GE mechanic with manipulator clans. Restricted trade was a failed experiment. I cant wait to log in and dump 100m on my IRL noob friend. Cash is usless to me i have everything banked for what buyables i have left. I just logged in a voted on the main site... it was 90% for bring back free trade. And the old wild was what made runesacape hardcore... there arnt very many MMOs where you can loot the otherguys items once you murder his noob ass.
  14. Im in the position to max out in 2011. I just cant seem to get myself to log in and train firemaking.... firemaking is as bad as runecrafting.
  15. The best advice i can give you for training runecrafting is to find something else you can do WHILE you train runecrafting. Try watching tv online or something. You just have to grind the levels out, there is no getting around it. Runecrafting sucks.
  16. Train on a PvP world... let skills sort it all out.
  17. I think they should do away with combat levels and just put your total level over your head. Then its all based on total level and not just combat level. Sure alot of the levels would be usless, but it would provide a way to make ALL skills benifit combat and not just the classic skills. This game does seem to revolve around combat. Jagax is kind of painted into a corner for future development. They can resonably expect people to level a skill to 90, but the time it takes to raise a skill from 90-95 is almost to much for a sweeping majority of the player-base. The only solution i can think of is to make the max level for all skills 120 but make the total exp required to get to 120 only 20m. That way they can spread out high level content and have more wiggle room where high level actually is. As i stated before they can reasonably expect someone to level a skill to 90, accumulating that much exp in a skill is doable by anyone. A good direction to take the game would be to add skill synergy's, say if you have smithing 90, crafting 90 and strength 90 you could unlock a teir of smithing items. People could invest the time it takes to get 90 in 3 skills, and the reward content could be created interdependently of any skill update. they could add one more farming patch that can only be accessed via a 95 agility shortcut. Nothing game braking. As for future content? They can designe content for lower level players but as skilling gets easier that content becomes obsolete fast. The entire player-base is shifting towards higher and higher levels every day. They have to keep moving the middle to the right, meaning that every update thats considered mid level will have to increasingly get further into hight level as time goes on. It just seems its not happening fast enough for some of us.
  18. IF you are worried about losing money on this deal its a pretty good indication you cant afford it. You cant lose what you dont put in the middle.
  19. I did the dragon slayer quest. I got members before i knew what it was really.
  20. 297,117,054 exp / 6762 hours = 43939 exp per hour. and that number will rise, i already have all the slow hard skills done.
  21. I like bots, they make the game feel more alive. They are like little NPCs running around collecting stuff. They are like another low level monster to me, like a goblin. I dont let them bug me.
  22. Troacctid, no one is forcing you to train to the max level. That is what separates the elite (maxed combat/total players) from the average player (somebody like me). They choose to devote their time to get 99s, because they KNOW doing so will give them a better advantage. You may think getting 99s is a long, hard grind, but to them, it's a piece of cake. Also, I don't see how it will unbalance PvM. Because the new 120 cap is much harder to get than 99 now, less players will be motivated to go for that goal, which means less of the really "elite" players. It will remain this way, until more updates make it so that getting 120 in these skills is much easier than before (which seems to be the case now). Saying that it encourages unhealthy playing habits is totally subjective. Some people have played for a very long time, which means they get a far better advantage in terms of training up. That's actually one of the reasons why there's a separation between regular and elites. Also, what's you to say that it will be unhealthy for them? Maybe they are effective/efficient with their gameplay, while also controlling how much they play per day. Maybe they are good multitaskers. Maybe they can AFK. The list goes on. Sooner or later, there will be enough updates that will make all 99s easy to get, making them less of an "achievement" (though that in itself is subjective). That, and the amount of people with 99s in these skills. Note that this is coming from an average f2per's perspective, but I can see how the people with 99 will feel about this. There's a reason why people go for specific 99s over others. I dont think people understand that moving the total to 120 for more skills moves the goal of maxing out of the reach of even elite players. The only people who could max out would such a small subsection of the game alot of the elite players would just quit. You do understand if they ever raised each skill to 120 max that maxing out your stats would take 8x as long. A maxed out account takes years not months. Im not even maxed out and i have already played 6500 hours. I cant even imagine the amount of time it would take to max out 8 accounts. Just by adding one more skill to the 120 cap would be like adding enough exp for 8 skills to the total exp required to max out. Its just to much. However, i am glad that they added the one skill (dung) to the 120cap. There should always be some skill you can train that is not a waste of time. Maby they could in the future allow you to choose what skill you can have at 120, then they could add something nice at the end to make the grind worth it. IT would also give us a way to customize your character.
  23. Sony had a handheld computer that would run runescape a while back. It had a place for a SIM card so you could really go hand held. However it did cost as much as a decent used car for the demographic of people that read this message board. When i get to work ill hunt down a link. It was a while ago i saw this so i am sure there are hundreds of reviews on it online. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/blog/2006/may/18/handsonwithso Video of one
