The same principle applies. A person can simply not travel X miles in seconds. I don't know what a proxy server is but... couldn't it mitigate some of the chance of detection? In a way, yes. They could. But It would be a massive pain. You would have to get details from the buyer on were his location is and get a proxy server in that particular area. Very unlikely to happen. You would need vast resources to get this to work on a world scale. Its just 99.99% unlikely that they would use that method as cover.

  3. It isn't. The problem isn't with the programming but with the database design. Consider this board. An admin could change your name easily, because in the database you aren't "Duke_Freedom", you are "userid # 690". That's what is used to index your profile, options, PMs, posts, etc. The only place you are "Duke_Freedom" is in a user data file, so that can be changed there and then it will appear everywhere else dynamically. If Jagex, rather than using a user number index chose to key using the user name, then changing user names would be extremely difficult. It could be done, but would require a large amount of work. The other options -- ignoring the whiners or editing the replacement accounts -- they have no excuses for. Ever heard about "Search and replace" macros ? There is no reason what so ever that changing a name could not be possible. It is pure BS.
  4. This topic is to discuss, suggest and spur ideas on how to make RS a better game with small innovations. I'm not talking about game altering changes or introducing new large futures. I'm talking about the bits and pieces that would make your rs life more fun or better. I hope that this can be for positive input and spur creativity. If you can't or don't know how to contribute, I would hope that you don't reply. I can start with a little innovation I have been thinking about for the slayer gem. I spend a lot time on the slayer skill, and I just find it annoying that I cant look up my monster stats when I'm in the middle of a fight, and that I always have to go trugh a long conversation with Duradel every time I want to check my stats, and that might be a few times each trip to be honest. A fix: A right click "Stat" option shown in the picture above. Please share your micro innovations that would make your rs life better :)
  5. I posted a fix for this a few days ago. This is how JageX can fix the group killing issue were people can't share the big drops of a trip. (Like going to bandos, one guy receives bandos hilt but can't share the 40mil with the others in the group) ------------------------------------------------------------- Lootshare fix. Lets say 4 people go lootshare. A, B, C and D. Every lootshare session is a new session, Instead of how it is now were your lootshare score is always remembered. So person A get a dragon axe from DK's. Thats the only high level drop for their session. They all tele out. Now. The total value of all their drops for that session was 3.500.000 gp. While still in lootshare mode (no one of them have turned it off) these people can now do a "split trade". Activated by everyone standing in the same area and right clicking the lootshare icon and select "Splittrade". Everyone in the area (thats in the lootshare group) will receive splitttrade request. The total value of the trip was 3.500.000 gp. So thats the maximum that can be put up in the system. Pleyer A who got the dragon axe put up 3.1 mil. When everyone accepts the money put up by player A will be shared equally by all the members of the lootshare group. A few things to note how to resolve abuse: Only people in the AREA when the drop happen will add it to its score. Logging out or turning drop trade off will reset your counter. (Leaving a clanchat will also result in your counter being reset.) If your drops only counted for 10 000gp of the total value of 3.500.000gp on the trip you will ONLY be able to put up 10 000gp in the trade.

The day you log into runescape with swiping your finger trugh a bult in DNA reader incorporated into any machine making it impossible for other people to log into your RS account and when JageX ban your DNA profile when you break rules so it is impossible for you to ever enter Runescape.com again it will happen. Oh and then they can also manage to keep everyone that is under the age of 13 away for good. Age limits on the web will mean something.

  10. Did two DK' trips yesterday. (One zerker ring, pretty dry. Two on the hyb team also died so we got to try out the new gravestone and blessing. Note: They both got back down and picked up their graves and teled.) One KBD duo trip today. Ohhh Got dragon med on first kill. Now I'm training my slayer. I'm planning a house party and some private trivias with prizes before the trading limitation sets in. Going to miss those :(

  12. This whole topic stinks. We have a beautiful provoking and interesting article posted in the first post. But from there it is slowly going downhill. You guys disgust me. The article is a perfect start and the kind of topics we want to see on Tip.it to spur intelligent discussion that leads to knowledge. Yet you ruin it. It's clear that many people in here is not mature enough for debating, therefore they need topics like "whats your first RS flower?", "Is the ring of wealth working? srisly!" and "Ohh lol lets lol at newbs tbh". Congratulations.
  13. Worrying. When JageX removes the free player to player trading this can mean that specific items will not be trade able for days while the GE is slowly adjusting to the new trends.

  16. That would mean artificially high item prices. Things like killing Saradomin boss must be done with groups. And groups of that matter will always share drops. Hence they will 'never' introduce more of that item (saradomin hilt) because the group always choose money so they can share. That will lead to the price of the item going up, and thus you get even more money next time, it will be this circle were you never chose the item but always choose money because the item is tied to GE price.

  22. It has been like that since the start. Is it so hard to read the updates+knowledge base when things come out? It is just a 5 minute wait. No need to make such a drama out of it.
  23. This seems to be the core of your argument.. but is it really true? I honestly don't know, but I am skeptical because I can't remember the last time I bothered to sell anything to a general store. Also, when people buy from the general store it have the opposite effect. Or if you buy from any RS store for that matter.
  24. I'm sorry for the bad wording. Yes, but you miss the beauty of the system. Lets for the sake of an example use the item. "Rune Full Helm". Some background information on it: It alchs for 21120 gp. It is not sold by any stores in Runescape. It is dropped by various semi-high level monsters. It is a item that is in semi-high demand consider F2P players can use it, and it is their best item for people using melee on the head spot. Lets say you have 10 of these. You sell 5 of them to the store and get 21120 each thus "creating" more money while the item gets removed. Now the price you got were a fixed price. It will never change. Lets say prices on the player market goes up because of this "money creation". The average player offers you 30000 for the item, the store still offers you the good ol' 21120. What do you choose? Now with the ease of selling trugh the Grand Exchange you choose the 30k deal. Thus you are not creating any more money. In the mean time people repair armor and work on some construction. This decrees the money. Prices on helm is now 25k on player market. Still a better deal for you than the shop. The prices continue to decrees until it hits shop price. Then you rather sell to the shop and that again creates money. and so on and so on.. perhaps. Bottom line: If a player deal is better than the shop deal. Players will turn to players, and in the mean time the money sinks in game will yet again stabilize the prices.
