  1. While the balancing still is something of a problem, it can be solved. For bossing, it's actually fine the way it is as the exponential scaling separates the tiers more clearly than before (for example, people with T60 tier just can't do QBD, and they shouldn't ever have been able to do so in the first place). Some mobs still need rebalancing, but that's happening step by step. The interesting challenge is quest combat, and there is an obvious solution for this: since quest boss fights are instanced anyways, it should be easy for Jagex to actually scale the quest bosses to the levels of the player fighting them. Voila, problem solved.
  2. "the broken, pay-to-win pissing contest known as RuneScape 3..." Might as well have stopped reading right there as it was painflly obvious the author has no clue what they're writing about and just wants to rant their frustration at not understanding the way the game is changing. I would say "Worst. Article. Ever." but it's not quite as embarassing as the pathetic deification of Suomi in early February.
  3. For the love of all that is holy, STOP CALLING THE GAME "EOCSCAPE"!!! It's RuneScape, godsdamnit.
  4. Regarding "Don't Split the Community": HEAR, HEAR! I am appalled people are dumb enough to read any indication about "oldschool servers" being planned into Mod Mark's post. It's completely delusional. Yet it was to be expected as a lot of the anti-EOC whiners don't seem to be too keen on reading comprehension skills... how else can one explain the ongoing whining and begging when Jagex have stated again and again and again that the idea of separate servers is so impractical as to be almost impossible? In my opinion Mod Mark made a huge mistake with that post because he should have foreseen that it would be misinterpreted and the nostalgia crowd would draw false hope from it, only to heap even more hate on Jagex when that false hope is ultimately crushed. Also, and I am glad the article talks about this because sometimes when I discuss this with people, it seems as if nobody realizes this: once you start forking the game, the demands for even more forks will become even louder. "If you could do it for pre-EOC, you can and must do it for 2006scape" will become the new rallying cry of the PK whiners. Giving in once will not solve anything; it will only aggravate the problems in the long run.
  5. I usually do enjoy the Times, and the short review of the history of Construction was a nice read. However, that second... well, I hesitate to call it "article"... that was pure whatthe[bleep]ery. "boldly expanding the horizons of human achievement"? "eternally record his name in the annals of history"??? I've seen a lot of brown nosing and asskissing in my life, but this has to take the cake. Whatever the author was smoking, I want some of that stuff.
  6. Quote: "Large clans can arrange wars against each other, but without smaller clans to fight for profit, they are losing a lot of members enough for some clans even to have to close down. The smaller clans arent present in the wilderness, because theres no one they can fight, such as smaller groups or solo PKers." So in other words, the whole purpose of the Grieferness is to, well, grief. Gang up on single players, gang up on smaller gangs. Frak that whole "honour" stuff as long as you can find a significantly weaker victim to take down without any risk at all. I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader what that means about the typical "PKer"'s mindset.
  7. Oh gawd. So THAT's where the saound was coming from. And here I've been blaming my soccer-crazy neighbours all the time :D Mods might find this in bad taste, but it's the best commentary on vuvuzelas I've seen: [Mod edit]
  8. Kind of sounds like another update to champion challenge :D :P I hope the elite diaries predictions turn out to be correct :)
  9. Funny how you didn't even seem to notice that the "tone" I used was nothing but a copy of your original post...
  10. Anyone sayin "AH MY GAH!!! Rollback plocks I lost a lot of $$$!!" are complete selfish fools. So, you're saying that getting back some gold or a couple of items for you would be worth eliminating a full day of skilling, combat, experience and monetary gains of HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of other players? Completely disgusting. Go play a solo RPG if you're not gonna give a [cabbage] about the community you play in. A roll back is a roll back for everyone. You lose some virtual wealth, people not affected by the bug lose a whole day of training, perhaps some super lucky drops they have been spent months camping and hoping for...Yeah its clear to me that we should discourage people from playing this game as much as possible while you keep caring about yourself. There, fixed that for you.
  11. Obviously a clue that SAILING is coming :o the direction and strength of the wind will influence the speed of your travels :geek: Kidding, of course. Just wanted to get that out of the way before the real sailing advocates find it ;)
  12. I never heard one. Perhaps I should have my ears examined... :?
  13. +1. In fact, I would love to have an audio cue added to the slayer message, like the ticking clock for the despawn message.
  14. Re: TET. My comment was based mainly on two things, viz. evil_mumm_ra's "PISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSED" post, which brazenly accused Jagex of stealing from TET, and the coincidence (?) that the harshest criticism of Mod Mark's post seemed to come from posters with the TET logo over their avatars (like 3PontMain's "crap through a straw" post which I quoted in my "sour grapes" comment). So I may have made the mistake of painting all TET team members with the same brush based on only a couple of posts, for which I apologize to anyone whose feelings I have hurt. Also, has it ever occurred to anyone that JMods may have been attending your events without ulterior motives and one day said to each other "this is fun, we should do it for everybody"?
  15. Cooking. I one day realized that the release of "cook-X" and the bank in the cooking guild (literally two steps away from a range) made it easy as pie, so I decided to go for it. Got it very quickly, watching movies on my PC because I only had to do a cople of clicks per load of fish. My real goal is 99 attack, which will take a LONG time as I don't play that much (damn real life), but since cooking was so easy I decided to do it first so that my first Cape of "real" Accomplishment (no matter how long it will take me to get it) will be trimmed right from the start :geek:
  16. Yet more sour grapes from the TET members? Look, we get it. You feel that someone has stolen your grand idea of hosting in-game events (as if nobody had ever done that kind of thing before you). Cry me a river, build a bridge and get over it.
  17. Made of win. :thumbup: New Jagex CEO apologizing for past screw-ups -> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> Less dumbing down, losing the kid focus -> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>
  18. No, not the Jiggig. I said EAST ;) Jiggig = west end of Feldip Hills. Rantz = at east end of Feldip Hills.
  19. Walk east until you see a quest start symbol. Here you will find an Ogre NPC called Rantz. North of Rantz is a cave entrance. Fycie is one of the Ogre kids in the cave.
  20. Okay, some honest feedback: Helmet-Robin/archer helm/coifs You forgot Armadyl helm. Cape-99 cape(t)/accumulator/99 cape Trimmed skillcape makes absolutely no sense as you are going to use a safespot anyway so you don't need def and pray bonuses. Accumulator is your best choice. Torso-karils/dragonhide(best you can wear) Legs-Karils skirt/Dragonhide Karils again makes no sense, as it is more expensive than black DH and degrades while not giving a better range attack bonus. Karils only advantage over black DH is better mage defense, which is not needed here. Shield-ANTI-FIRE SHIELD/ ANTI-FIRE SHIELD/ ANTI-FIRE SHIELD You forgot dragonfire shield. Boots-Ranger/dragon boots/other boots Since you want to optimize range attack bonus, snakeskin boots > dragon boots. Start in Yannille, run to ogre city, go in, run to safespot and get the dragons attention, kill untill satisfied, when finished if your house is in yannille use runes and teleport to house, exit, bank, repeat. That's it? Uhm, how about telling people where the safespots are? Pics? Maps? Anything? Seriously - this is not a guide. It's a tip at best. Can be summed up as "get good range gear and kill blue dragons from a safespot". 1/10
  21. I think the "orbs" are the light beings flying across the chasm near Tears of Guthix. If it's the Light Creatures they're talking about, then what's the 'well'? Not the chasm, cause that thing doesn't sense anything. You're right. I was answering to a post that called them "orbs of light" without checking the ancient pages source. In the AP it actually says "created spheres of power" so yeah, that rules out the light beings. Too bad, I hate the underground pass. If I never have to go back there it'll be too soon :-/
  22. I think the "orbs" are the light beings flying across the chasm near Tears of Guthix.
  23. "Waa waa waa, boo hoo, a skill has become marginally easier to train, now someone else can reach the same level as me with fewer clicks, they don't deserve it, this is MY skill, the world is unfair, Jagex is teh suxx0r, RS is dead." #-o #-o #-o Get the [bleep] over it.
  24. "Long Planks" - What the Sam Hill? Quest item?
