Well, let's really read the OP... When you shine two lasers at each other's emitters, then technically you are causing photons (which, as particles, count as "objects" of the exact same material, mass and density) to collide at one point or another at the speed of light (which they are). The result would be, I believe, entirely unspectacular.

Good that they're taking advantage of DX10... However, I have to note that the main selling point appears to be their "brand new RPG experience" - which to me sounds like what's already been done by games like Deus Ex, Oblivion and System Shock 2. But hey, Diablo meets SS2. Can't complain about that. I swear it'd get better sales if it was a Warhammer 40k game, though.

Well, sure, it'd be in my face if I let it. Seriously, been in that situation before. If it's more than one guy with a knife, sure, I'll back down. When it's just one? I'd take my chances with my own knife. After practice with the SCA. I carry one wooden broadsword for actual sparring and a real one for practice. NSW weapon legislation doesn't count swords as prohibited objects, and thus I can carry them around without any sort of permit. If there are questions asked, I have a good excuse to carry one around.

I could, but that doesn't mean I'd want to. It's a gun. Takes one lucky hit to injure you pretty well before you can close in. If it's a 9mm, you can survive a few hits easily unless they puncture something major, but if it's anything bigger, you won't want to screw with it. And hey, if the guy behind the sword or dagger knows how to use it, more power to them. Anytime I'd be in a position to be mugged like that (late at night, etc.), I'm also carrying either a broadsword or a knife.
