getting junk---HELP!!!
There is no such thing as junk items. Seriously. Although you are using "junk" items to boost the price you get for another item the person you trade with still has these "junk" items and can therefore sell them and/or use them as "junk" themselves. All this junk trading has done is make worthless items worth something as they are now highly sought after. Hardly junk anymore are they? :) If you are having to buy junk, why not just sell the item you are looking to boost for the lower price?

Waterfiends

YES! I have all skills 70+ and am going for all 80+. It is so hard to get motivated to train skills. I did some runecrafting but got bored so easily, same with mining. All I have to look forward to is an 80 next to the skill. I have no desire to craft bloods, nor mine rune so all the training is for is purely for the level. However if i needed to craft bloods to access Castle Draken as part of a quest then it would give me that extra incentive to train. We badly need another diary with high requirements.

New Best Spot for Willows and Oaks?
Erm TipIt is meant to be a community so it's always nice to share. Anyway during the quest you have to use it as a bank box so it's hardly a huge secret. I assume you can use it before starting the quest though? What it also may be good for is banking iron ores. May even be faster than Port Khazard. Also may be accesable to FTP as it's Rimmington...

2 questions!
With your combat stats it won't take long to get the levels you want. Just do slayer for a bit. As for herblore you have lucked out. There is no way to profit at herblore if you buy all the ingrediants anymore. You may sometimes get lucky and make a few gp, but the GE changes so much that it's practically impossible to say for sure. Prayer pots will break even if you collect your own snape grass but if your short on cash then it's lots of trips. Another good way is to make the Serum with Tarromin and Ashes. You will lose as the potion is worthless but the XP is cheap. My preffered way to train herblore is to use the MTK minigame. I have 100% on herbs and get 300ish every week. Once every month or so I sell the tarromin and make the harralanders into harralander tar for a little profit. I then make pots by buying seconds from the GE. I sell a few prayer pots or super strengths to make back the cost of the seconds. I'd only advise using this method if you are prepared to waste 525k a week on MTK. You can make most of this back if you do 50% on coal but I make it back via runecrafting or slayer drops.

Nope sorry, you need to naturally have the levels apparently. I heard that too. During the quest you don't really do anything with your levels. You do things which could be viewed as smithing/crafting but it's nothing level specific. I don't even know why you need 65 agilty, maybe to leave the prison? I dunno. It isn't like Fairy Tale Pt 2 where you can get to a set point before needing the herblore level to make the magic ess pot. Therefore I would assume you need all levels from the word go before talking to Bill Teach.

Can someone fill me in on the wilderness thing?
It was changed to combat real world trading. Bounty Hunter is the closest you can get to how the Wilderness used to be.

Sorceress's Garden...help
Sorceress's Garden isn't that popular and the guide has probably been lost in the downtime. My advice would be to look up Pyramid Plunder as it offers better XP.

Exchanging slayer pts for Xp
I'm starting slayer again after a skilling break and will spend points in this order: Slayer helm Slayer ring The way I see it is these points are a bonus and as I did OK before I can do OK now. Obviously the helm is a huge boost to common tasks and reduces the need to carry a nosepeg on all top level slayer tower tasks. The ring will be handy to have for teleports. As for the skipping tasks there is no guarantee when you will get tasks you want to skip so I will use these as and when they turn up. I can do all tasks, just some are annoying/expensive. Doing one of these tasks enroute isn't much of an issue. I agree with the buying deaths option. Far more useful than the extra 10k XP and it's probably a good idea to have some points saved for clearing tasks with no penalty. May also be nice to be able to make broad arrows/bolts.

However we now have a Rimmington Bank (well deposit box) This may very well be the fastest iron mining with bank in game.

Warped Terrorbirds
Whilst the forums were down I found out something about this creatures, something so simple and obvious it made me feel like a total noob. If you wear earmuffs it reduces the hits you take! Apparantly it's in the "hints" dialogue when you get the task but very people seem to know about it. Next time I get a task I will try it out, but apparantly it reduces the hits significantly making them very easy, especially with a cannon.

What monster to mage for profit?
Steel dragons break even eventually. Use wave spells as deaths are more expensive than bloods.
-
Dust Devils *Urgent*
Yes you can melee them, just bring your usual fighting gear but make sure you wear the Slayer Helm or Facemask. Drop loads of Crimsons in the Chaos Tunnels only. The ones in the well don't drop as many. Bring bones to peaches runes as you cannot use Guthans to heal. Bring alchemy runes as they drop lots of alchable items. Dragon chain is rare. Don't bother going just for this.
-
Waterfiends
Wear best mage defense. Karils is prefered. You must have your weapon set to crush. Luckily Guthans Warspear has a crush option. Use a Sara Sword or a Dragon Scimmy though. Range pray the whole time, when you are low on health switch in Guthans until full health. Bunyips reduce the need for Guthans but still bring it just in case as well as a few sharks.

Skilling for my quest cape
Crafting - Super Glass Make is great. You can profit/break even dependant on time of day. Woodcutting - Willows with a dragon axe at Barbarian Outpost. Use a beaverif you can and bank using deposit box. Fastest XP in game and you will make a little profit (I made about 150k from 76-80), it isn't life changing but it's profit. Smithing - Steel bars to cannonballs, or mithril bars to bolts, or iron ore to iron bars with ring of forging. These will reduce losses and maybe even give a profit.

G.E Gold ore buyin
I believe the limit only applies to items which are not classed as raw materials, i.e. yew longbows. All raw materials can be bought en-mass still and I would say gold ore is classed as this. However I would also imagine lots of people are currently filling the GE with orders for gold ore to train smithing for the new quest, and also merchants who are looking to make a quick buck.

Quest was great. It's nice to see a high level quest. I got pretty wound up last night reading the RSOF at the sheer volume of members who moaned the requirements were too high and they couldn't wear there cape. What did they expect, that Jagex wouldn't make any more quests with higher requirements? If someone only ever gets the levels for a quest then they should expect that in the future that level with be superseeded with a new quest. Therefore it makes sense to raise your skills higher than current lowest requirement if you wish to be able to do all quests on day of release. I forget the last quest I actually had to work to achieve the stats for but I needed 73 smithing for the Varrock Diary. Jagex gave people plenty of chance to raise there smithing to this level but people chose not to do the diary to it's full extent. Also what is the issue with people moaning that it will cost them 3mil to get levels for this quest? It will cost you nothing other than time if you train it efficiently and you may even make a profit. If you chose to get the levels with mithril gear then it's your choice. You can always make your own bars, or cannon balls. The fact you can't buy raw materials currently due to demand isn't Jagex's problem either, as mentioned above they have given members ample time to get higher levels in a skill. I strongly believe that the quest cape should have 80-90 skill requirements. Runescape isn't just for mid-level players and the higher level players deserve high level updates. This has the added bonus of giving mid-level players something to aim for and lower level players a chance to sell raw materials for a decent price. I know it is annoying for someone to have a quest cape one day and not the next but thats the whole nature of the quest cape. It isn't just a one-time reward, you have to earn in again month after month after month. Anyway I was very pleased with the quest. Nice length, nice story and opened up a whole can of worms for future updates. Oh one last thing Rabid Jack = Voldemort :D

Future Plans
OK so I have lost: 1. My Runescape Blog 2. My funky 70's Gene (Life on Mars) avatar 3. My 1000 post count which I'd just achieved. However this is a mere pitance compared to what others have lost so I was wondering what have you lost? and what are you going to do to replace it? and if you will learn anything from this. For mine: 1. I have a copy from Google Cache which is 2 weeks old. Luckily in that 2 weeks I was barely on and had a few notes with which I could piece together most. 2. Blessing in disguise maybe as now I have a cool 80's Gene (Ashes to Ashes) avatar. 3. Post count means nothing, I can get it again easily. I have learned to make a back up locally of any important/long forum post. If I ever write a guide I will host pictures myself and link to them as not to lose them. Please note this is not the rants topic. I know it's annoying especially if you've lost lots but at the end of the day what's done is done and you cannot change that. So please do not rant here, this topic is purely to rally round and support those who have lost data and hopefully we shall all learn lessons.

Forum is coming back but :(
Thanks to all who got it back. How about publishing the name, e-mail addresses, home phone numbers, mobile, home address, etc. et.c of the backstabber so the users here can send him/her our thoughts on his act?

29 January 2008 - As a First Resort...
Abby demons will not be new THE charmdroppers we're all looking for.., however they're nice for crimson 160 kills: 20 gold 6 green 37 crimson 3 blue makes 1 charm ~ 2,5 kill Which was my point. Abby's will not be camped out but still reward the slayers who put the effort in to get 85+

29 January 2008 - As a First Resort...
Sorry but Abby's should have always dropped charms, along with every other high level slayer monster. Slayer has very little reward generally. Even less now the GE has forced down the prices on lots of drops. 85 slayer is an achievement and should be rewarded at whatever time you hit it. Whips were 3.3 mil when I started playing and this was the main reason I wanted 85 slayer. When I finally hit 85 slayer, whips were only 1.3 mil so I was effectivley punished for getting 85 slayer later than others. The joy with charms is they are non-tradeable. Therefore legimate players will be rewarded for hitting higher slayer levels and no amount of time can take this away from them. The downside is whip prices will plummet if Abby's drop consistantly, but then again player who kill Abby's soley for charms is more lilkley to kill an easier monster like Fire Giants to get more kills ina quicker time.

Summoning Pure
You can train summoning without charms but it is very very very expensive. You just buy the pouches from the GE and then convert them into scrolls. This will take a hell of a long time though, and will amount to billions as the XP for scroll making is miniscule. Just train slayer and store the charms.
