I think it's kind of funny that a bunch of us did this at the same time. I missed my first class of the semester today, which is [bleep]ing hilarious. Apparently they changed the building it was in so my friend and I went to the wrong place, tried to fix our mistake but managed to go to the wrong building even further from the correct one and then gave up because we were a 20 minute walk from the class when it started and it was only a 50 minute class. It all came full circle for me though, since I missed my first ever class in college by going to the wrong place. Also I used the oven to re-flow the solder in my xbox recently, and my previously non-functional xbox now works again. So I can confirm that it's a thing.

Made the decision to take some time off from drinking after a string of poor choices. Of course, my roommate is going to be back from Israel today, I have a party to go to tomorrow, classes start, another party next weekend, and then my birthday. So it's going to be a struggle. But its my own damn fault for failing to moderate myself.
  3. You're doing just fine, you definitely seem like your picking up on things. No one expects you to pull shit out about specific citrus notes you can taste from the hops, just kind of getting the feel for what it is you might like generally is a great start. Most people do think all beer is basically the same, especially in older generations. Noticing differences between something like an IPA and a lager puts you at about the middle of the pack already when it comes to beer knowledge. I would honestly say that while you'll probably like Lagunitas, if you want to learn more you might be better off trying a diverse array of beers. If you ever drink more than one beer in a night, I would say go and pick up a variety pack. You don't have to be able to put the differences into words but if you have two different beers, you'll be more likely to notice that those differences exist. Stone Brewing Company has a cool one that I would personally recommend. It comes with their standard IPA, Ruination IPA, Self Righteous Black IPA, and Arrogant Bastard Ale. They're all pretty aggressive and hop-forward. All that said, drink whatever you like. Even if its Coors light. Which is actually a bad beer, but if it makes you happy drink it all you want. There's really no need to have any sort of knowledge. For me, beer is a hobby which is why I personally put so much thought into it. I treat it sort of as treasure hunt meets puzzle sort of deal and to a lot of people that's weird.
  4. IPA's are super diverse, but Ballast Point and Dogfish head are both solid breweries. I'm guessing you had Sculpin from Ballast Point and the 60 Minute IPA from Dogfish Head? I would say give Lagunitas IPA a try for a pretty solid west coast style IPA. Most of my favorite beers are unfortunately pretty exclusive to the New England area, but I could try to come up with some more recommendations if you're interested. Any idea what specifically you liked about those beers?

If I can make it to 'roo I'm going to volunteer, cause shit is free if you work like 8 hours and all my that have done it say that you basically are told they don't need you for half your shifts.

    All about that mind fuzz.

Bonnaroo lineup dropped today, looks like it could be decent. Pretty solid hip-hop line up with Kendrick, RTJ, Atmosphere, Freddie Gibbs & Madlib... Plus flying lotus, Shakey Graves, and a bunch of other cool stuff. If I don't have a big boy job come June I might make the trip down.
  8. I'm going to assume parenthesis should have been used and that the actual formula should be (Tall + Hung) / (CoolAf * Fine) = 4me. Otherwise it's kind of a shit show in terms of what the final units are. I assume tall and hung are both length units if they're being added together. Coolaf is obviously temperature, with a more desirable score being a lower temperature (hence coolness). Although this means that fine would also be better the lower the score is, right? We're also assuming that a high 4me score is good, which could be totally off. I'm confused on what units "fine" uses though. Is it unit-less? Right now the units of "4me" (or just "me" if we're assuming 4 is just an integer) are something like m/K*x, where x is whatever unit fine is in. My conclusion is that I think the formula needs revision and that it doesn't accurately define "4me". Edit: "(Tall + Hung x Fine) / CoolAf = 4me" seems like a pretty good formula. Where fine is a unit-less 1-10 rating.

Bouillon cubes will probably do it, although most of them probably don't have the MSG content in ramen packets that we've grown to love. I actually had a bunch of spare packets kicking around for a while since my ex was allergic to them for a certain brand of ramen. I have definitely thrown them away since then though.
  10. Ah, we went for height, not how cold it is outside. Speed tests next? ;) Because I like numbers I'll participate. You're not going to find any significance from this though unfortunately. I know we did this a few years ago, you might be interested in checking out that thread. I'll link it if I can find it. 5'8 (172cm) / White / Person

Is that something you can buy separately? I don't think it is. Google it?

I don't know man, my car is like a security blanket to me. No matter what happened, as long as I had my car I would be fine. You can get places and you can also get away from places and a car can always double a shelter. A car is one of the few things I would never want to give up. But at the same time, I also never want to live in a city. If I did I would probably forego the car.

Car broke down after a hockey game. Took like an hour and a half for the tow truck to get there and another hour and $120 to get home. My baby's still not working and if it's not an electrical issue (And I'm praying that it is), it's probably the transmission and that'll run me about the entire value of the car. Luckily when I say me I really mean my dad, who is very generous and also the technical owner of the car so he'll probably take care of it. But if this happened a year or two in the future I would be shit out of luck. What sucks even more is I was on the way home to drink with my friends. And that didn't happen.

Classic "It's colder where I live." Same time next week?

Yeah, I mean I wasn't super active for a decent amount of the past couple years but I've at least been around and I definitely end up on here more during breaks from school and stuff. And yeah, I'm not at all surprised you're into RTJ. I haven't gotten to see them live yet, but my radio station did bring Killer Mike last year and he preformed a bunch of stuff from RTJ so that was dope.

Yo, it's been a while. Not a name I expected to see around here again. I've been good, getting ready to graduate and join the real world. Basically still just doing my thing though, just now with more beer. Somehow always managed to stick around here.
  17. Gallery is dead as hell. It used to be a pretty dope place too.
  18. I mean... no? Your body can process approximately one drink worth of ethanol (~18ml) in the course of an hour, but it can certainly handle more than that. Essentially if your drinking one drink an hour there isn't alcohol piling up in your system, it's being metabolized at essentially the same rate it gets added to the system (with lag time). I assume that's what you mean, although I actually have never looked into the science behind how alcohol is metabolized. Edit: In response to the last page.
  19. Yeah, I guess people who play runescape ad take it seriously would be more likely to argue. Just not something I ever got into, not caring how anyone else played really helped.

I was confused too. I'm assuming someone edited a post somewhere so the context is lost.

I discovered a white hair in my beard this morning. The good news is that I will have the option of having a promising career as a mall santa when I'm older.

If it's been more than a day or two, email again. Make sure you put the course ID in the subject line, professors tend to be awful about emails and will delete them without reading if they don't know what it is. If you don't hear anything back by the time school starts back up, go to the class and talk to the professor there, or figure out when their office hours are and show up to that.
  23. I don't understand how its so difficult to behave on an internet forum.
  24. Skull replied to Leoo's topic in Off-Topic
Email the professor and explain. If its a course you need to graduate and you're a senior, they will almost always add you to the class even if its full. At the very least it can't hurt to get in touch. But if it's anything like my school, you should be able to do something about it.

Throwing up the morning after is proof that I'm getting old haha I had a pretty awesome New Years Eve. Less eventful than last year, but that's just fine. Hope you all had a good one.
