So I was flitting through profiles and saw how SaqPrets had mangled metric to imperial conversions on his bio about his height, and, being bored and working on the laptop early in the morning, I decided to start a poll topic about human height (the Estonian is very tall), partly to complement the gallery thread for getting people to know you etc etc, and partly because I like numerical things. And if enough people respond, I'll do a distribution curve - and if the mean is like 1m95, either you're freaks or you're liars.

Because the poll is in bands, you can post your specific height as well if it pleases you. Also if you want to add caveats, that too. So if you're a guy who's 1,75, it's worth noting if e.g. you're of Japanese origin. Or if you're wheelchair bound or something.

For Americans who use mainly the imperial system,

Easy conversion is height in inches * 2.54.

To start it off, I am 1m87, which is 6'1 apparently.

For Americans who use mainly the imperial system, I realize you may not know your exact metrical height, so try and guess based on the fraction alongside (e.g. 6'0 and 1/2) knowing that an inch is 2.5cm. So 6'0 and 1/2 is 183cm + 1.25 cm = 1.84m.*

Easy conversion is height in inches * 2.54. My 5'10" (70 in) comes out to 177.8

Also, Italian, for whom it's relevant.

You can't just write it - vote, man, vote. I want my distribution curve ASAP.

...

That's better. My numerical craving is sated.

I don't see why only American's are mentioned in regards to imperial height measurements. I'm UK and other than doctors I know literally no-one who uses anything but imperial for their height.

6'4" aka 193cm for me.

Because since I moved to the UK, the doctors I know have always used imperial and metric, the former mostly out of convention, the latter because it's accurate - and I assumed it was the same elsewhere. Maybe it's different outside of the southeast, however.

2 metres, or as imperials would say, 6'7?

I might even be 201, since I haven't measured in ages anywhere where the ruler would be higher than 200 and there I push it even up.

And d'aww, checking my profile gave you an idea for a thread? So sweet...

EDIT: Fixed my profile page and forgot to add that I my heritage consists of Estonian, Estonian, Estonian, Estonian, as far as I know.

^ Fine, specific if you prefer. The point was that both of mine gave me a height in metres and then go "oh, by the way, it's 6'1" or whatever.

what nefarious scheme are you collecting all this information for though? I refuse to believe it's a simple distribution curve

The number of people I've seen who have browsed this thread and not even voted is depressing. Don't be shy.  <3:

I fail to see how this is contradictory to what I said.

Doctors use metric.

Normal people use imperial.

Doctors take the metric because that is what they use.

Doctors tell you the imperial conversion because thats what people use and understand.

Plus it is possible to measure your own height and people do that in imperial.
