Is that the humor behind the drunken dwarf random event? I knew it were you, matey! I have never seen any in the states. I wish I could find somewhere that sells them so I could try it :P I think we're both in the wrong area for kebabs. Never seen one, either.
  2. uh what did you bring up a dead topic? plus your a mod Calm down, I'll read a bit more carefully next time-- besides, it was worth it for the hilarious pic. That has to be the most horrifying thing I've ever seen. Disturbing, but hilarious. Big Oziwilly Style!

Yep, a lot of adult gamers grew up in the arcades, but few, I'll bet, have that kind of track record.
  4. Reminds me of the collaboration Ozzy did with Busta Rhymes.

(I haven't found a similar thread yet) I've got the Old Grandma Hardcore blog bookmarked. I think it's a riot.
  6. I'd like to see your logic there. Although I don't agree with Engl1sh's points, there are lots of evidences that suggest growing up with a male or without a female figure (mom or dad) can psychologically damage children. I have spoken with several therapists, for instance, who deal with a lot of patients whose problem is "induced homosexuality." That is, when someone becomes "homosexual" solely because they are a guy and they grew up without a dad (male attention) and subconsciously desire male attention. Now, I do believe in natural homosexuality (meaning I do believe people can be born *) but I also know that there are people who, after going to therapy are no longer homosexual, because the only reason they believed they were was because something that affected them in their earlier life that needed to be sorted out. Doesn't that mean that they were never homosexual to begin with - that they were psychologically or emotionally hindered? I don't consider that to be homosexuality, in the same way that hyperchondria isn't a physical disease. That's my point exactly. The children are never homosexual - they are emotionally hindered because of not having both a male and a female growing up. :? It's been my experience that it is never as cut-and-dried as this.
  7. Nintendo was hardly the first age of console games.
  8. Retro is very chic these days. I could be mistaken, but this game has spawned more sequels and remakes than any other game I can remember (as well as toys and other memorabilia). It's too bad the Atari 2600 make sucked so bad (although it was still addictive back in the day), but most representations of the game have been somewhat faithful. I think Ms. Pac-man was probably the best of the original series-- there were marked improvements to gameplay in its day compared to the original Pac-man. It was heavily played and had at least one mod for it that I can remember-- a button labeled "California Speed" which sped up the game at the present level (as succeeding levels got faster anyway). By the way, for all things Pac-Man, see the 1st Church of Pac-Man website.
  9. You don't have to have those areas shaved... some women just cover them up with a shirt and/or pants sometimes on lazy days... but you do it to stay attractive (so saith the Mrs.)
  10. It has come to my attention that topics like these (perhaps even this topic) are driving people away from the forums. Back on topic please, cool the flame war, or I *will* lock this thread.
  11. Making the food (and drink) is quite fun. As a parent and married guy, giving presents is also quite fun. I live in a rain shadow area, so snow is rather random. Sometimes little to none. I also remembered how much I like doing Santa work (you know, at the mall) but knowing that Noerr does our mall now, I'm not sure I want to bleach/dye my hair and beard white...
  12. Because I do and so I have and it's not a problem?
  13. Having been a telemarketer (unfortunately), I know that takes up to three months. I do live in Washington, however, so my wife and I often can use the 'Washington is a no second attempt state" if they try to snowball. These people *should* know the laws.
  14. well, a vast majority play rock styles. Not so many play classical. Then you have your subset that play folk. Anyone out there that play folk rock tunes? Y'know, acoustic stuff of the '70s... Gordon Lightfoot, Jim Croce, James Taylor... oh. I must be showing my age...
  15. That won't work out here. West (formerly known as Dakotah Direct) has been hiring bilinguals (read: English/Spanish) for some time. Telemarketing per se is *bad*. I think most call centers do tech support and customer service, however. I've done telemarketing (1 week) but I wouldn't mind a call center so much if they didn't do that stuff. On topic: Most of the time, I give a curt 'No thank you, we're not interested'-- will say it quite loudly if I'm not the one answering the phone. It is quite tempting, however, to figure out how to build a Telecrapper 2000 setup and see if that gets industries to stop using these awful methods. Ironically, most of them know they are looking for a needle in a haystack. They are still hoping to find that needle...
  16. I believe Santa Claus is derived from 'Sinterklaas'. Part of an American trend to do things that weren't British. (Take that, Father Christmas! Heh, I guess it was all reconciled in "Santa Claus: The Movie," it being a Brit flick) You know, I can't remember what age it was. I always had a sneaking suspicion when I caught stuff in the stockings too early... but still wanted to believe. Of course, the secret was out when my maternal grandmother decided to tell me and the oldest of my three younger sisters. Eventually, I started taking on the role of Santa at times for my other younger sisters, and naturally, I do it for my daughter now. I don't think my wife and I elaborate to her (she's only 3) what Santa is supposed to be... I think right now the extent of it is the stockings... all presents are from us.
  17. Oh yea, they changed everything. I mean if the owner of A & F commited suicide, half the population would die.  Thankfully, my wife does not mind me as a hairy man, even likes it that way. As far as the Fusion, that looks cool, especially for the facial-hair shaping razor, but I'm usually pretty cheap. I've hung on to my Sensor for years and just buy generic three-blade cartridges at the drugstore. I have looked at a straight razor as a shaving investment. If I could get myself a hook for the leather strop, I might buy. Unfortunately I have kids about the apartment, so... I usually just use the 3-blade razor and some good shaving gel after a nice hot shower. Anyone used the shaving cream/gel warmers? Last one I saw was something that just fit over the top of the can and plugged into an electrical socket. Almost always I have a goatee-- a Van [bleep] (moustache connected to the beard, pretty much the trend nowdays) or a traditional (think Col. Sanders or George Michael) so I don't have to do a lot of shaving. I grew a full beard for the winter, but I still shave stray hairs on the cheeks, and my neck. (btw Sluggy... my beard is soft, so Cim doesn't have to worry about that) Now... next question... who's shaved their head? I personally don't recommend it say, in the summer... too easy to sunburn it unless you wear a hat... so I've just been doing a buzz lately. But anyway, if you do, what do you use there-- i.e., anyone used those head razors?
  18. I love tabbed browsing-- so I'll probably stick with FF. RSS is another nice feature.
  19. Both my wife and I play it, and we're over 30. Now, Runescape is infamous at our local libraries because there's kids hogging the computers to play it, but we've found adults around (just not locally).
  20. EDIT: my bad, I did not look for the "Churn all" thread. Please close
  21. Runescape is pretty good for a *browser* game. Since most MMORPGs are full-screen, I don't think you can really surf or IM when you're playing them.
  22. They never will. It was that way in the dawn of war games and pen and paper games (think AD&D).
  23. eh, I just want a Kenwood wOOx or some sort of compact powered sub too poor for anything else
  24. actually, about par for the course for a female sex offender. LeTourneau comes to mind here.
  25. Bubsa, You rock-- hard. Despite the disclaimer, if you wanted to improve the singing, you could try hiring a singing coach on the cheap. But basically, you just seem to have difficulty mainly when you use a falsetto or strain for high notes. Drop things down an octave for some songs (try Walkin' in Lumbridge) and I bet your singing will improve, although a coach can help you with voicing. (Before anyone flames me, I took classical voice lessons and was a music major in college, so I do have some idea of what I'm talking about.) Some post-production studio magic might also help you. Now-- optional criticism aside-- the MIDI and instrumental work is just FANTASTIC. I worked with MIDI instruments a little over 10 years ago in community college, and I don't think I could put out instrumentals as nice as you've got. Have you actually thought about sending a few samples to Weird Al Yankovic? You would have to explain the game, but you never know-- he might actually help you out. Try a convention or the Friends of Weird Al address (those are the ones I can think of, anyway). Sligo-- your lyrics are awesome! I hope Bubsa starts recording them soon. You picked some classics there (I would personally like to hear Runescape Zone, having heard Twilight Zone quite a bit). Good luck on this awesome project!
