Yep, that one was funny. The other one just gave me the um... gibblies.
  2. Not surprising since real economies work in a similar way. Here in the States, the economy can turn on what the Chairman of the Fed says.
  3. I'll agree with that, too. I don't see the big deal about any rares actually, save when they are worn in the holiday seasons they were dropped.
  4. A tempting offer although that would be breaking the rules. Some quick observations: Obviously you are writing this for a gamer audience, but using gamer and 'Net parlance (noob, lol, own, etc.) sticks out badly. I can't imagine a sci-fi/fantasy book based on a MMORPG would really use it, to be honest. I know "so-and-so said" seems a bit overused in some books, but your quotes seem to run together. When authors use quotes without designating who says what, they generally identify who says what in a conversation first, then separate each quote line by line, like this: "quote" said (or whatever you want to use). "quote" replied (or said, or remarked, or whatever you want to use here as well). "quote" (This would be so and so 1) "quote" (This would be so and so 2) and so on... although this is never often continued beyond a small number of lines.
  5. Looks like it will be an incredibly Aussie event then. 5 AM for me here, a hard time to get up for or stay up late for, either.
  6. Pretty sweet there, Lordjake. This reminds me of why I would like a so-called 'priest class' be a viable option.
  7. I don't necessarily believe in astrology per se, but I'm a Leo by the classic zodiac and a Wood Tiger by the Chinese calendar. Their descriptions are fitting to a degree... Wood Tiger: http://www.tuvy.com/entertainment/horos ... _tiger.htm Leo: http://www.kamalkapoor.com/sun_signs/leo.asp I wouldn't take anything too specific but it gives you a general idea.
  8. Agreed on the improvement part. *jaklumen tries to imagine these guys doing Public Access*
  9. I dunno, 'burning' of RS towns is pretty fun.
  10. I would make everybody work for Jagex (especially the whiners-- I'd give them lots of responsibility), be very responsible for the costs and success of the game, and then have them come back to this and let them wonder if their reasonable requests were really reasonable. Yes, I'm no fun.
  11. That may or may not apply. *that said...* If you're going to repost stuff from somewhere else, at least give credit where it is due.

Not to mention... umm, nevermind. I'll merely say just like it burns when it goes in, it burns...

Sorry, I don't believe in moral relativism.
  14. This is similar enough to another recent thread, so I am merging the two.
  15. I'd definitely do the things that can only be done in the wilderness. Agility course, abyssal runecrafting, getting god cape/staff, etc. As far as the rest of the RS world, inconveniences with people taking training spots... well, I don't mind that so much.
  16. for where I am right now: Fremmenik eq and rune (g) armor Dragon longsword (good balance of speed and power)
  17. Precisely-- it's a preference thing. Clean shaven is generally more accepted as proper grooming, and has been for a number of years now. Right now, I think goatees (usually a Van [bleep], not a traditional Colonel Sanders type) are a bit more acceptable than full beards. Right now I have a rather wild winter beard, but I do believe in using beard/moustache trimmers. That's generally a must, too.
  18. Yes, I do! It looked like a red telephone handset, sort of. Do you remember the short lived Super Perfection? Never did get my hands on one of those... Now about adults talking to kids, I think it's fine for the most part if people behave themselves. But I do tire of 10-11 year old kids asking my wife to be their RS girlfriend. I'm 31, she's 36.
  19. From what I've heard though, the Reserves is fighting almost as much in real combat as the full-timers. The military would never take me, especially now-- too old, unfit, and free spirited. I support those who go, however (and I believe there is some good coming out of Iraq-- the question is more at what cost) and there's already a family expectation of respect-- my grandfather was in the 3rd Division of the Marines in the Pacific during WWII.

Indeed (adding to what others have said on this). I keep a bottle of habanero sauce but I've found it overpowers most foods. My favorite pizza: Canadian bacon (back bacon), pineapple, and jalapenos. Sometimes I'll add some Tabasco, too :)
  21. Back in the days of rs1 (RSC)... I remember trying to wear goblin armor when I got some as a monster drop. Hehehe... so why can't I be a goblin and then wear it? Wait, don't answer that... Also some guy asked if I wanted to go into the wild and kill stuff. I followed him and then he turned around and killed me once we were deep enough. Ever since, I've tried to avoid the wilderness whenever I can. *chuckle*
  22. Your safest bet is to download them directly from the main sites, not at a download URL-- Download.com has had some problems in the past with junk attached to files. Don't forget Javacool's Spyware Blaster, which will immunize your computer against spyware and such. I believe it is a must if you're running IE as it blocks a list of spyware sites directly in that case. If you're just running Firefox, then it will have a list of blocked cookies (as Firefox doesn't allow ActiveX, I think) Spybot S&D is a very good program-- I had my father download it so he could get his computer cleaned (very bogged down by spyware... 75 instances I think). Which reminds me-- do your scans from Safe Mode. When you do regular maintenance scans, you should be fine in Normal mode.
  23. Archaic? Boy I feel old then... I remember when it was still "newbie" in the old text MUDs.
  24. I see nothing wrong with it. The 103 level guy said 'Just a try on value'-- which smells like scam to me, and if that's the case, I'd call him a noob too. Now, I think the word should be reserved for players that do truly idiotic things (including scammers), not for folks that somehow got the best of you in a fair way. Proceed.
