I'm familiar with D&D eds. 1-3.5 and this was the thing that popped out immediately to me: Alignment: Bad Why not just stick with 'Evil'? 'Bad' is a rather imprecise word. I'll probably fill out a form later; it's near midnight where I am and I am very tired.

  3. Done, although this idea seems very unstable thing for your computer to me.
  4. I keep having this routing problem. Every so often, my Internet stops working. The last time it was limited to Firefox and my mail servers (I use Thunderbird). Runescape worked fine (I was using the Jagex client). Every single time, if most things aren't working, my IM client works without a hitch (I use GAIM most of the time). I assumed a while back that Fasterfox was causing the problem, so I uninstalled it. Sure enough, my problems decreased. But I am stumped as to why this happened again. I usually powercycle the modem and the computer when I have this problem (unplug the modem completely and turn it and the computer off for at least 2 minutes). I usually repair the connection through Windows (I'm using XP), which renews the IP address, flushes the DNS cache, as well as some other things. I have talked to Verizon CS at least twice. The last time the agent suggested powercycling the modem and computer as I described. He talked about regular computer maintenance, too, but every time I do a disk analysis for defrag-- it comes up fine, clearing cache, history, download, etc. on Firefox doesn't seem to really be it, and I can't think of anything else besides repairing the registry and that's usually a risky undertaking-- although I've used a registry edit program in the distant past with no problems (and that was before the new motherboard, new CPU, and disk reformat). I've talked to biox and he's stumped. EDIT: Just read grin's stickied announcement and added my OS-- is there any information I'm forgetting?
  5. I think Jagex just wants to hold on to their money, and that they are creating an additional incentive to pay for memberships and to stay on member worlds. Crummy way to do it if you ask me.
  6. I take exception to that. In Europe, I don't doubt that many have been to a number of different countries as they tend to be smaller and there are more of them in a smaller area. I'm sure you can find a significant number of Americans that have been outside their regional and/or state borders, and have been to Canada and/or Mexico. Travelling state-to-state in the U.S. may be a little quicker than traveling country to country, but hell, Hawaii and even Alaska aren't some quick little jaunt, and I have been to Hawaii. And if anyone feels like saying Americans rarely speak foreign languages, well, I doubt that's going to continue to be a viable option in the metropolitan areas. But even then, I live in an area that is primarily agriculture based with only moderate urban development, and I speak Spanish-- and we are getting more immigrants that speak only some or little English, from a number of places. Back on topic-- the game is an enjoyable diversion, and when it ceases to be one, and more of an addiction, I think there's a problem.
  7. I'm surprised that no one has even mentioned the blast furnace as far as alching armor. What is it? Too hard to get a crew? Too slow to do it alone? Too hard to get into world 2? With a good crew, you can note all your ores and sell them back to the store as needed, smelt them, smith all your bars at the anvils right there, and then high alch them. True, mithril doesn't mine as fast as iron, but... I haven't done it much, so if anyone has done the math for profitability there, I'd be interested to know. Honestly, I don't expect it to be really profitable at all, but it's probably faster than smelting gold with gaunts. (and yes, I've done that, too).
  8. The way the question is phrased seems to suggest all p2p quests, so I have moved it.
  9. Strictly speaking, for members, rc'ing fires (just one step down) with duelling rings is faster. I think it can be safely said that this could be considered a 'f2p hidden update'.
  10. I wonder how those boaters would look with a mime top or maybe even a pirate top (with matching base player clothes so you get some sleeves)... gondola rower, anyone? It is indeed a Treasure Trail item and I'm sure more pics can be found on the Clues, Clues, Clues (and Random Events) thread.
  11. "You miss the chocolate and grind your fingers" Wait... failed herblore?! LOL thanks for the laugh. What's next, exploding serum 207 potions?
  12. I think there is something to this. I notice that some apply the 'nolifer' labels to adults like myself when all we are doing is just kicking back and relaxing when work-- house, job, etc.-- is done. Some of us are proficient gamers as well. Obviously, when real life must interfere, we'll drop what we're doing in RS and attend to that. For example, I plan to take some time off soon to start training hard for a road race. Granted, I plan to visit a fellow player, but my wife had already wanted to participate for a long time regardless. I think it's quite possible to have focused goals in RS and focused goals in real life. I agree that the game should be played to have fun. I enjoy the communities I am a part of, and one of my recent goals has been simply to gather clothes in game that didn't really boost stats, take screenies wearing them in game-- sometimes even scripting a story-- all for the amusement of myself and some friends. I think I understand the OoC a little better-- just play to have fun and don't take the game too seriously.
  13. I'm confused. Is this Runescape food that you like to eat in real life?
  14. Thread cleaned of drift. I had always assumed that opening a query was the way to do it. But I hadn't really thought of relying on chat. This has been discussed somewhat elsewhere, and I think Jagex should consider allowing users to change their usernames instead of an outright ban. However, Runescape has a very large userbase, and I'm not sure they can count on everyone making the change themselves. To the poster: I'm keeping this open as I think it's a good discussion.
  15. You should update your sig. I think I'm enjoying my pirate hat right now-- just need to get a matching hook :) I can't really limit to just one thing-- I really like any clothes and toys that do little other than to look cool. I'd include the scythe except I never bothered to get one and shade robes don't include a hood yet. That's a little update I'd like to see: shade hoods. Then everyone with scythes and full shade might go running around looking like the Reaper... hehehe
  16. Thanks for the tip. Talking to him was pretty funny. They livened up the generic man on the stairs from south Falador going to the road to the Barbarian Village. His name is 'Cuffs' now and apparently he attacks the lower level players  There's also some random squirrels and racoons near the body altar which are just background animations. Yep, the Draynor Manor has been nicely redone. I have some of the cabbage in my bank-- haven't checked to see if it can't be picked now.
  17. I didn't like it much when I first saw it, but I'm gradually getting used to it. Makes sense that the White Knights would "rebuild" their city with white brick. I happen to like the waterpump, by the way-- it's something different. :D
  18. Indeed. Lack of punctuation in various Internet chats drives me nuts sometimes, especially when it results in run-on sentences and the like. Sometimes I think teaching diction in the schools wouldn't be a bad idea, because then people might understand that pauses of varying lengths dictate the punctuation. When someone rationalizes that they ramble when they speak, I think, "Do you really speak without taking a breath at certain points?" I speak Spanish as a second language, and I see a lot of punctuation lacking in texts (e-mail and the like) from all over Latin America, and I understand they often handwrite this way, too. I often have great difficulty following what they are saying as I try to figure out where one sentence stops and another begins. Granted, my punctuation in Spanish lapses in IM chats as I try to keep up with more of a stream of thought, but trying to understand Spanish without punctuation is very difficult for me. They do use a bit of chatspeak once in a blue moon, too-- I have seen 'k' replace 'qu' in words much like someone else in this thread was saying is done with chatspeak in French, which always threw me off. From my experience, it hasn't been bad at all, but then I haven't been in a variety of Spanish-speaking chatboards and such. Ah, an old-school MUDer. I remember those-- they're still around if you know where to look. (Last one I played had a Circle code that was rewritten to look more like a SillyMUD, if you catch that.) I also remember learning to type fast, too, and how sometimes people mysteriously started typing better after I'd played for a while.
  19. I think that's exactly what Jagex is trying to avoid. Beyond that, I think it will be positioned as another incentive for membership. and by the way-- I've seen some of the new trim/gold stuff-- it's not that weird.
  20. These cabbage also raised hp temporarily if hp was at full.
  21. The MMORPG evolved from MUD (Multi-User Dungeon), which stretches back to the late '70s. The early ones were text based-- the later graphical MUDs became known as MMORPGs in the late '90s. Here's Wikipedia's definition-- be forewarned-- it's very long: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUD
  22. Diablo is teh scuk ! Hey, I like Diablo... although I've never done Battle.net and I liked the unsupported Hellfire expansion for the original. Seriously though, I thought this was going to be a suggestion to add a sort of resurrection to very high level prayer-- although I don't know how that would be done.
  23. Read this again, please: Myself, I collect pineapples on my farming route (when I check on the fruit tree there). I wouldn't be surprised if gathering jangerberries on the island north of Feldip Hills (with a duelling ring) is faster, but that's just what I do. Weeds are plentiful. They go into the bin in one shot. So what's wrong with a player made supercompost potion again?
  24. Hmmm... the only way that things might be evened out is make bat bones available to f2pers and put some in a few f2p areas, such as Draynor Castle. But that particular place would be unlikely seeing as they just updated it. Much of this still boils down to "will Jagex ever make a F2P update?" I think that it's highly unlikely since F2P is basically considered a demo of the game. But that is what I would suggest.
  25. I like the idea. I'm wondering what kind of load it would put on the servers, though.
