  1. It has been seen that the number of macroers in RuneScape have increased lately. Posting about them on the forums in order to "get something done" is not beneficial to the situation at all. If you would like to post your pictures of the number of macroers, your experiences with them, or just discuss them in general, you may do so only on this sticky. All other threads will be removed. Also, remove the names of the macroers from the images you post. The "no naming names" rule is still in effect, even for people who auto. Thank you. Note: Due to the popularity/length of this thread, historical posts will be removed periodically. EDIT: Jagex and Tip.It forum rules are still in effect.
  2. You have got to be kidding! GhostRanger provided you with three links, two of which were only 1 page, and the last one was but 2 pages. All of them said there were other topics about MMORPGs, and two also had posts suggesting that the search button should be used. Usually people just say 'use the Search button', but this time you got links! How can you be lazier than that? Follow our rules, and observe the etiquette posters have dictated-- you will get a lot more responses if you will do so.
  3. I don't think it would be unreasonable to allow players with offensive names to change their name on a one-time basis only.
  4. Ok, folks, don't spam up spam that's already been made... To the poster- next time, please write up something a little more thought out as something lazily typed out in cryptic sentences constitutes little more than spam. Locked.
  5. Thread cleaned by me. Profanity is not allowed on this forum per se the rules.
  6. Doc, I respect your decision. My daughter is just shy about a few weeks of turning 4, and I know she loves the few computer games that she has (and the TV too), but I'm hoping I can keep her active and outside as long as I can-- naturally, at her age she loves to go to the playground or the park. You can all look up my stats and laugh because they are relatively low for having played so long, but it's good to play once in a while or a little bit each day so there is time to do other things. Mrs. C commented in another thread (can't find it at the moment) about a Simon mall giftcard, which works like a debit card with a set amount of money you put into it. http://www.simon.com/giftcard/ WARNING: beware of fees! But basic rule of thumb: Demonstrate to your parents that you can play responsibly, that you can pay for it by secure means, and that you are willing to be monitored. I am still unsure why Jagex hasn't released pre-paid cards for playing time, like Blizzard has with WoW. Perhaps it is because of the low monthly cost?
  7. Point taken.
  8. If they could implement something that was a little closer to the auction system on WoW (although that might take a lot of bandwidth and memory), I think that would be a little more feasible.
  9. Something like the Culinomancer's chest for Recipe For Disaster? By the way (granted, it's members) access to the chest made mining iron and silver in the Cave Troll mines a lot more feasible. There's a decent amount of silver there, so if you can, I'd check it out.
  10. I'm a Black Arm member and I don't remember the kite being necessary. But the rest, yes.
  11. 'because you have to buy your nats'? I haven't done the math, but I'm sure it's at least a lot less if you craft your own natures and mine your own pure essence. Then you would be losing time, not money. Keep in mind that you can do magic longs, too, but I suspect that few players do because chopping magic trees takes a lot longer.
  12. Nope. You can't use the boat again, but you can get back in. Assuming you exited the island by going through the odd-looking wall where the lessers are (south of the skeletons), you should be able to get back in.
  13. This would look strange in Music and Movies. As long as the emphasis is on music played while playing RS, I think it's fine. I would change the topic title, however. I consider RS Music to be part of the game, so I listen to it quite a bit even if it is cheesy. If I start training for a while and the music stops, then I tend to listen to something like synthpop. (Mashups are fun, too.)
  14. heh, imagine a virtual reality Runescape... you have to 'pick up' a pickaxe and 'swing it' to mine...
  15. Probably depends on library policy and resources.
  16. Quite a few clan wars and other PK events are held on free servers (clans having both F2P and P2P members).
  17. You can get ice gloves after Heroes Quest and Trollweiss after Troll Romance (not to mention many other quest items), so why not? If you can get the blurite and the other materials again, I don't see why Thurgo can't make another sword.
  18. I wouldn't say "stupid", but my sister and brother-in-law are librarians and I'd say it's a safe bet that they think Runescape is the bane of the library... ...which is fine by me. Playing on public computers should generally be discouraged, as well as acting like an idiot in a public place, which some of the young kids do. Gutterball is awesome! I'm cheap, so I never got the full version, but it's a good game.
  19. Best of luck in your endeavors. My sister was diagnosed with insulin-dependent diabetes 15-16 years ago. It's not easy to live with, it seems, even if you have insurance to cover it. Her blood sugars are frequently high, and I worry she'll face complications in the future.
  20. I missed the scythe. But if hoods were added to the shade drops, that would be pretty cool... full shade (with black hood) + scythe= Grim Reaper clothes.
  21. Rugby is named for the school it was developed at.
  22. Let me return to some thoughts that were discussed earlier. I don't have a problem with vegetarianism and veganism as a dietary lifestyle. The Western diet, at least here in the US, generally contains too much protein-- from animal sources. I agree that vegetarian and vegan food can be quite tasty. I have no problems using recipes for such-- heaven knows, my diet likely doesn't have enough fruit and vegetables, and even alternative sources of protein like nuts, soy products, and such. I do know that B12 is not found naturally in a vegetarian/vegan diet. Most all that I have talked or listened to advocate vitamin supplements for that (at one school I was at, there was a special soy sauce in the cafeteria that they used on their rice for B12 and to complete amino acids for a protein). But generally, supplements aren't as effective as natural food sources, and often, you wind up with expensive urine. It's also much less of an option for impoverished folk, although I have heard of projects like modifying rice to contain carotene, which is distributed to Third World countries to combat blindness. This, however, goes into the bioengineering/biogenetic discussion which I choose not to touch right now... ...anyway, what I generally have a problem with is when vegans (mostly vegans) get militant and zealous about their lifestyle choices, which is why I will never support PETA. If they touch any of my shoes (including my Doc Martens), my belts, my leather jacket, leather pants, leather gloves, etc., etc. then there's going to be a big problem, especially if it's with the intent to destroy it or deface it. Oh noes! The products I buy destroy the rainforest or are used on animals! Anybody that really knows me knows I don't have the financial luxury to avoid each and every single one of the products they find abhorrent for whatever reason. Do I have the money to invest in a straight razor because Gilette shaves bunnies? Generally, no, I don't, and I could go on... Nor do I find their criticism of me because I eat meat welcome. I mean, some anagonize over whether they should eat something containing yeast. Do you really think that everyone wants to eat grain, meal, and matzah all day? Hmmm, giving up bread. Yeah... I am upset when they become religiously fanatical about it, and since most people don't like religion forced on them, then why don't they show me a similar courtesy? I have no problem with them living their life as they see fit, and they are welcome to invite me to try their choices as I wish, but they can just forget it if they get up in my face about it.
  23. I believe this solution has been discussed before, but apparently not enough that Jagex is really listening. There is a risk that a longer Tutorial Island time will deter legitimate players from playing. Therefore, I think that new accounts should be able to build experience the time they are in there, but that it be rewarded to them when they come out. It's reasonable to assume that the gold farmers may be at their computers during Tutorial Island. So running the macroing program during that time may be ineffective as they may do that if they aren't already. Here's the kicker: Run the macroing program on every new account made for a certain amount of time. Most gold farmers will go straight to their autoing destination, be it essence, fish, woodcutting, or flax. Within that time, they will be banned. With the creation of pure essence, Jagex has sent a very strong message: "If you're going to mine essence to turn a profit, you're going to need to be a member and pay us to do so." Essentially, pure essence is another perk of membership. I honestly don't think that Jagex has the resources and the inclination to run their detection program on all the F2Pers, but I think it might be reasonable to do so for all P2Pers, and use similar strategies as done for essence for raw materials that are in F2P worlds. This isn't a perfect solution-- I cannot expect it to be. But their current applications of resources against macroing appear to be tailpipe solutions at best. What I wouldn't give to get a glimpse of their discussion on this...
  24. PKing never held that much appeal to me in all the multiplayer online games I've played (and they are few and generally outdated at best). For those who pine for the days when rs1 was PK anywhere, I remember my experiences when I was playing the old text-style MUDs about 6-10 years ago. The ones I were in were pretty brutal as they were PK anywhere. No telling when someone might pop up and backstab you or whatever. Things weren't too different as they are now with quite a few people in clans- the one that an Implementor was in eventually policed PKers a bit, and clan wars were pretty common. It's also been a general rule in all of my gaming experience (and I don't just mean video games) that if you provide a way to player kill, people will come. A LARP organization that I am in has been losing members because the combat system was nerfed in favor of a more 'social' game, i.e. to allow the roleplayers to have more of a chance and curb the hack 'n slashers. You'll notice that Runescape doesn't have any roleplaying servers presently. That's because most players aren't interested in that, or they haven't shown Jagex that it's commercially profitable, i.e. will attract more memberships. Many players like to hack and slash whether they be NPCs or players. And if little or no risk is involved, and the XP is good, so much the better. Why do you think Castle Wars, Fight Pits, and Pest Control are so popular? Because there's a chance for good XP and you don't die. No doubt PKing has its fans because of the risk involved (just like stocks, the higher the risk, the greater the return) but risk aversion will always curb things a bit.
  25. Churning is a boring and time-consuming way to make dairy products for the cooking skill. After the Recipe for Disaster quest was released, I gathered that many fewer people will use churning at all because it is easier to buy from the chest. A friend of mine suggested that milking cows should give farming XP. This could be about 1-5 XP per bucket in much the same way that spinning wool and flax gives crafting XP. Granted, there is a possibility that people may abuse this to avoid farming the lowest level seeds. The other possible alternative that I can think of is auto-filling all buckets in inventory with milk for each click, like is done filling various containers with water at pumps and fountains. Churn-x has been suggested before and I think it's perfectly reasonable compared to cook-x and other -x options. Churning would still be time consuming, but there would be less clicking involved.
