Don't buy a Dell! (And I need help)
The MacBook for 999 then. I wonder if you should put another 50$ in for a 160gb harddrive? Your choice, but since you said 3-4 years.

Don't buy a Dell! (And I need help)
Nope, Nvidia Quadro FX 5600 is their best one. Things can be said about the price of Mac's, but you end up knowing you are getting a quality product with quality support. Laura: Buy which ever one you feel suits you best. Be it a product from Apple, Asus, HP or Sony.

New Computer - Questions
Ugh =/ For that price you could build an i7 computer. It's good, but pretty expensive. 3 questions: How much more is a 16 or 32mb cache harddrive? (i would advice on 750gb or 1tb actually... Will last longer!). Why 2 dvd drives? Why just not take one that reads/write dvd/cd? And why a 700w psu? Seems a bit over the top.

Installing case-fan... !
Well a bit of force helped. But it's kinda weird. I don't think you should need to use a bit of strength just to get the screws in, but but... It was only 10. Temp dropped a couple of degrees aswell.

New Computer - Questions
Zzz... He doesn't need a [bleep]ing GTX260 for Stalker!!! New series? They won't be out until several months. Seriously, stop giving bad advices in threads.

New Computer - Questions
DDR2. Only if you get i7 or the AM3 Denebs is DDR3 something to think about. I guess for Stalker, both are good. When DX11 is released, DX10 cards will be able to use it, but with some functions turned off. I would get either card, and then if you want full DX11 support, buy a better one then. So maybe a 9800gt or hd4830 for now, and get a fully compatible DX11 card later? Just a thought.

Installing case-fan... !

Installing case-fan... !
Hi. I bougt this 120mm Fractal design case-fan, and i tried to screw it into place... But it's not working very well. I haven't used these "plastic screws" before, so i don't know (the ones that i've installed before has just been to screw in place with normal screws - np). It comes with 4 plastic screws and 4 metallic ones. How am i supposed to screw it into place? pic: [hide=][/hide] Thanks.

The Inauguration of Barrack Obama: So Annoying
You have to watch it? Can anybody tell me if you had to watch George Bush get sworn in for the first time also, in school? Anyways... I really dislike the media in my country. They really didn't talk much about McCain, it was all about Obama... All the time. One crap channel even went as far as just mentioning McCain for like 10min during the entire air of the election night (Kanal banan 5). Sure, as one who likes nature, it was good that he got elected. But the media coverage wasn't really fair. And it will be interesting to see how he will tackle all the problems, both nation and world wise. Eh, i'm actually looking forward to the elections in my country in 2010. I've made up my mind already.

Don't buy a Dell! (And I need help)
Well, if you're going with a Dell, don't buy an ATI 3450 graphics card. Lot of problems there giving me BSOD, and the drivers supplied by either company doesn't fix it. I know that alot of people who have bought it on different forums, and they don't have your problem. Just because you didn't get yours working doesn't mean it will be the same deal for someone else. I'm using an ATI card while writing this, and it's working fine. Sure, there were a couple of mishaps with the (was 8.11 or 8.12? i forget) driver for certain particular system setups, but that's been patched. You should always uninstall the drivers and then install the latests one or try an older driver (ok, in your case this was not possible).

Does anyone else notice this?
I think you should start turning down the volume a bit. I've listned to metal for 12 years, and i still got full hearing. I'm pretty bored about metal at the moment tho, Satyricon released a crap album, Darkthrone too (i smack myself for saying this), Amon Amarth released a mediocre album... I feel in touch with time, listening to Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Bathory... !

Barebones
Have you put together a system yourself before? Looks good i guess, just get Vista-64bit also. Those packages are usually put together by the company to be "100% working". HD, some 7200rpm 500gb with 16 or 32mb cache+sata (don't buy a Seagate atm tho). Graphics card; Need RSHD and videos only? some 3450 or 8200gs will be fine. Otherwise for some more serious gaming you have (better----->): HD4670 (got mine on friday, works nice), 9600gt, 9800gt/hd4830, 9800gtx+/hd4850... Depends on you budget and how much and what you play (read reviews). Mice/keyboard... dunno, wait for someone else. I'm too lazy to link you to any products atm.

Don't buy a Dell! (And I need help)
Yeah, when I updated BIOS and it failed, the agent told me that it was my fault, because I had a printer attached. No one told me to take out all other USB peripherals. I don't have any manuals on the motherboard. :? And I don't see anything on the fan. Lol, it's not your fault. It's Dells fault. A customer shouldn't be needed to change the BIOS on a pre-built computer (never heard of it), and if they do, they should give you crystal clear information about it (how to do it properly (not thru windows), what to do before starting it.. etc). Aha, i could tell you the jumper reset stuff... But i don't know if i should do it, because if you'd do something wrong it (maybe?) would fry the warranty or something...

Don't buy a Dell! (And I need help)
Downloading a game from steam atm at 160kb/s lol... (annoying!!)... So i'm gonna try to give you a reply. That dude that told you to update BIOS thru Windows is a COMPLETE NUT! He should have told you that you need to do this via booting (dos or something) (flashing bios is not something i know much about, so i can't say much about it, other than this guy shouldn't have told you this). You could try resetting the CMOS on the motherboard (check motherboard manual on where's located), but i dunno if you'd want to do this on a pre-built computer... (and be grounded while doing it). I'm using the latest 8.12 drivers for my card, but you could try using the 8.10 instead (when you get it booting). There should also be a smart-fan option for the cpu fan, but i dunno if the Intel stock ones have it.

Possible Choice of Computer
"Allows you to connect to an existing wireless network such as in a office or a wireless hot spot" RSHD - np. For Movies, older games and rs - np. Dunno how they are in quality, should be good. You can always search for a review or two of it. An ok price, i guess you're paying more for the design. You'd get more for a "normal" desktop, but i guess you aren't looking for one of those.

Looking for a New Game? Ask Here!
Do you want an actual flight simulator or just a game where you can fly around blowing other planes to pieces? I only have the latter. Ace Combat. Go. Either way is fine. That game series looked really cool, but i don't got a 360 or PS2 lol. If anyone knows any other flight (simulator or bombing) games to pc, shout it out!

New keyboard for my computer!
Thanks, going into the sig =D I dunno, i'm not willing to spend overly much on keyboards... Usually 20 is enough for a keyboard for me.

SLI/Crossfire
Or 4=) (single gpu cards) SLI/CF is actually not such a big money-waste since some time. But getting more than 2gpus (x2 card or dual cards) for gaming is pretty much a waste, on all tests i've seen - you sometimes drop in fps with 3-4 gpu's. 3 gpu's can give you a tiny tiny tiny bit more fps but it's not worth the price. Ok, for benchmarking programs it's good... But not for much else (ok, folding home too, and some editing softwares)... But not much else i can come up with atm.

Yes another computer-building thread
Muhahaha Nadril - I think you're a bit "hmm..." about build threads since one *special* one lol. Nah Hawkxs: I must agree with post junkie. If you're playing RS and WoW and lagging in (probably) WoW maybe a new graphics card or something is just in order. If you don't know how to build and wouldn't want to spend time reading up on components.. etc, buy a pre-made if you'd want a new one.
-
Yes another computer-building thread
I would never buy a prebuilt computer if it includes the i7. Nix nix nix! Since you basically never know what motherboard you get from one of these pre-builds. Blu-ray... I guess it depends if you don't think normal dvd's are good enough (they are for me)... I personally wouldn't get a blu-ray since it raises the price really much. Compfreak: 4850 isn't good enough for WoW? Lol, right. Uhm, i'm not really understanding... Are you checking some parts that you are thinking about? Or are you getting a pre-built or thinking of building yourself?... I don't really understand. Get Vista 64-bit if you want to use more than 3.5gb memory.

Looking for a New Game? Ask Here!
I'm wondering if there are any good (fighter) airplane simulators? I don't really wanna play that MS flight simulator.. or whatever it's called. So i'm basically asking if there's a fighter simulator? I used to play a couple of those a couple of years ago, but haven't for a long time.

Buying a new computer.. tell me what you think!
I think your talking about me? Oh crap right, i meant you. I think i saw some post by this guy before i posted here, must be why i wrote it... I'm not so active in off-topic so i mix up peoples names =P

Buying a new computer.. tell me what you think!
I agree with Sloter. Jaziaek (or how his name is spelled) created a similar build thread as yours at the same time, and he was finished after 2 days or something. I suggest you take time and read on hardware-sites/forums to understand what each parts does and how you put them together in a computer. If you don't want to do this, and you don't know anyone who could help you build - Go buy something from HP. This thread is one of the funniest i've seen (ok Denis ant-under-screen wins, but still).
