  1. We were on a road trip, towing a trailer with the truck. My dad had a 5 gallon can of gas in the back just in case, but when we ran out of gas we were just a short walk from the gas station... So close. Not only that, but on most cars the fuel pump is cooled by the gas in the tank, so when there's no gas, the fuse breaks so it doesn't burn out, and we had to diagnose that problem on the side of the road. But I've never personally ran out of gas. Infact, I probably am never below a quarter tank. But my gauge is broken to the point of where it's convinced the tank on my car is only 6 gallons, so when you're at 6 gallons it's behind the big E, so I just go on odometer readings, usually 200-230 miles even though I could go much further.

    NYC Pictures

To be honest I wasn't really interested in the main exibit they had there, some architect but it was 90% abstract drawings that somehow were used to form real buildings... But the paintings were cool just by the sheer fact that they were from famous people like Van Gogh and Pollack. But the real art was the building, a Frank Lloyd Wright design.
  3. Went to New York City for the first time a couple weeks ago, took lots of pictures. These were the ones I liked the most, more artistic than touristy I think. Let me know what ones you like/don't like, there are 30 of them so if you want to pic a few to comment on that would be great :). Thanks, enjoy. [link]
  4. Some of those shots are really cool, I like them. That one with the flowers is pretty neat, but any of them are :P.

  6. We're going down to LA at a friend's condo on the beach, never done that before. But they are going to be setting off fireworks from the piers over the ocean I hear so it should be quite a sight. Not sure if fireworks are legal in that county of California, but if so I might bring a stash down there and set them off at the beach.
  7. Cool idea, I had fun even though I didn't know many of them.
  8. Forrest Gump has a pretty good soundtrack of some good classic songs from the '60s and '70s.
  9. I like them lots... Saw them in concert a few months back, was a great show. Lots of talent. I think I like "I Will Follow You into the Dark" the best, but "The Sound of Settling is a good song too.
  10. With that said, I do have to disagree with most of what the author said (in the point of view of the janitor). It really does make life look pointless and bleak, but I'd say it doesn't really matter if we all have a passion, even if there is a disagreement in the legitimacy of it (like being obsessed with material things), it's certainly something and the story is saying there's nothing worth living for because all of the stuff people live for is pointless. Kind of hard to absorb I think... But just got me thinking.
  11. I like the last one you listed a lot... I have to admit, some of your very popular older wallpapers I didn't really like (it's all in the eye of the individual..), but these are very nice works. The last one though, the planet the person is sitting on needs some definition, maybe light gray in there?
  12. Although it's just a sketch, it looks like it could be a complete minimalism piece. Very cool feel to it, the snow makes the picture for sure :). I'd love to see more of these, and would probably partake if I had a tablet...
  13. Well this probably isn't the advice you're looking for, but don't sell yourself short. I mean if you know you are worth more than minimum wage, don't settle for it unless you absolutely have to. Might sound kind of full of yourself, but I assure you, you wouldn't be if you keep that attitude when job-searching. So since you know you need a job but don't know how to go about it, I might suggest looking in the newspaper for job openings, get online and pull up a local search, etc. Also, you might want to ask your parents or their friends if they know of any, because many times you can get better than normal jobs by using connections rather than shooting in the dark. That's how I got my job, and I get paid more than most other people my age, and my job is somewhat fun and I'm getting a lot of useful experience for a future job (i.e., flipping burgers won't be much experience when applying to work for a major corporation, but possibly data input, clerical skills, handling money, those things, might matter.) Next advice I can offer, make sure you get a job that you can handle. I mean something you won't be totally sick of after a month of working there. My sister has a job selling clothes and she loves it and has been there for maybe 7 months, and she's only 15, and she's not sick of it. Keep this in mind over the selling yourself short bit I mentioned above... Get the job you can handle, even if it pays less, as long as you can somewhat enjoy it. If it's not going to be fun and you know that they pay minimum wage and you can probably go with that, maybe that job wouldn't be your best choice. Yet another pointer, don't work to make money, work to get experience for the career to make money. Of course the money is a huge plus. But if you work only on the mindset that you're there to make money, you won't enjoy it at all, you will appear greedy on the surface, and it's just a sad way to go about life, although I doubt you'd be like that. So a bit long but I'm sure it will help some.
  14. It was pretty good, definately makes you think. Kind of reminds me of the concept behind Fight Club, where the people who you disregard as worthless actually control more of the world than the upper class do. It was pretty good, not my style to read though.
  15. Well, during school I had a 'schedule' however I followed it just about once throughout the whole year... Get up ideally at 6:10, but more likely not until 6:20 or 6:30. Shower for about 10 minutes and get ready for another 5. Grab something quickly on the way out. Again, ideally, I would be out of the house at 6:45 to make it on time to school at 7:00. Except that happened once. Most times it was me leaving the house at 7:00 and not getting there til 7:10 or 7:15, many times later than that, but it didn't really matter. School from whenever I get there until either noon or 2:10 every other day. Go home if I get off at noon, go out to lunch, catch up on various errands I have that day, etc. Go to work at 2:30 until 5:30, go home after that, socialize, get on the computer or play xbox, eat dinner, do the teenager thing and socialize with my friends, or watch TV. Shower after that, and get to sleep from 9:30-11:00pm, and repeat. But it was hardly this way. Now, it's summer and it's kinda like... Wake up somewhere between 8:00 and 10:00, literally sit around and maybe watch TV for a while, eat breakfast, if I have to go somewhere shower around noon or 1:00, do whatever it is I had to do, do something with friends, sit on the computer, play some xbox, eat dinner, go out some more, sleep that night (or not)...Yeah, can't really put a routine on my days anymore :).
  16. Thanks, glad you all like it. It's fun doing it with headlights too, not making letters out of them, but making semi-abstract shots with them.
  17. First look: (Sorry it's wide for those with low resolution...) So took the camera outside last night and shot the moon with low shutter speed. Then I just made letters as best I could within about half a second. Then I put them together, and we have writing that looks much like how I wrote when I was five years old. But kind of cool abstract and fun to do, the possibilities are endless :P.

    Credit.

Bad as this sounds, go to a department store (Macys, Sears, etc.) and apply for one of their credit cards. More times than not they will approve you with no credit, you buy stuff at the store with it and pay it all off on time, and then you get some credit at least. Also, having a car loan and paying it off on time gives you good credit as well. It takes time, but soon you can get real credit cards and whatnot.
  19. Well since you didn't specify what kind of game, Monopoly. What a fun way to waste away an afternoon while learning of the system of Capitalism first hand. Uno is pretty fun too, many hours of trips I've spent playing Uno. Backpacking trips, international travel, it's just as fun anywhere.
  20. I can't say mine is worse, that's pretty dang bad. Except it has those seatbelts that you have an automatic shoulder strap, to make it easier on you, yet if you crash you die if you don't have the waist belt strapped. Then the automatic shoulder belt pelts you in the neck or other upper body part when it opens. Next, it sounds like an indie car. It's a four cylindar, it shouldn't sound like that. It shifts funny, but everything opens like doors and trunks. Ok, my car has nothing on yours.
  21. Chuck Norris was the star of Walker Texas Ranger... Basically a show where he had extreme martial arts battles with enemies and usually roundhouse-kicked them in the face or something like that, and yet he was an officer of the law.
  22. I just have mine in a room off the hall, a living room of sorts. I usually hear people coming down the hallway so can minimize to something else. I don't do anything on my computer that I would be keeping secret, but it's just wierd for someone to come up over my shoulder and read, maybe something like what I'm typing now. It's just wierd.
  23. Well, since you're asking us, I'd highly recommend you don't go with that camera. First off, it's a brand that's not very well known (I'd consider myself pretty up to date with electronics, and I've never heard of this brand). Next, no optical zoom? So basically you can't zoom. Digital zoom severely diminishes the quality of the image even if it's 8X, so it's worthless. One thing I've noticed with electronics is you get what you pay for. So at the very least, go with a well known brand and get a lower end camera from them, and at least you know you can get good customer service, etc. If you want a good camera to last you, you might want to budget in more than $166 for a camera.
  24. I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-N1, and I like it a lot. Small enough to fit in my pocket, and 8.1 Megapixels (determines image size and influences quality). Has a bunch of different settings enough to be basically a manual camera, or it can be fully automatic where all you have to do is point and hit the button. Look it up. Downside: it's about $500 retail, but you can get it from Newegg.com or elsewhere for around $430. Other downside is that with 8.1 MP imagesize, you need a large memory card. I stepped up and got a 2 gig card for it, and I've filled it up a couple of times, so I'd say you need at least a 1 gig card... Those go for about $40.
  25. I have to say, I went to a concert where they were playing with Death Cab, and I was definately not there to see them play... But I was pleasantly suprised at their performance, they gave the crowd a ton of energy. The lead singer had a really cool intro for his band. I actually came out of there with a much higher opinion of the band.
