  2. I was about to recommend the Sygate Personal free firewall, but it seems I really haven't kept up to date with the news. Symantec, the compnay who distrute Norton products, bought out Symantec and discontinued their products around 11 months ago. Symantec news: http://www.symantec.com/enterprise/sygate/index.jsp ZDNetUK article: http://news.zdnet.co.uk/internet/securi ... 815,00.htm Going to download.com and filtering for free firewalls, and I don't think you would need a paid version as your browsing habits seem very similar to mine, gives this list: http://www.download.com/3150-10435_4-0- ... lsize=&ca= From which the main contender to Zone Alarm looks like Jetico: http://www.download.com/Jetico-Personal ... ag=lst-0-8 Looks like I might have to try Zone Alarm myself if Sygate is no longer being supported. No way am I getting Norton, I just un-installed their AV and got NOD32 :) Good luck with whatever you go with, although I'm sure futher googling wouldn't hurt.
  3. Turning on your Javascript: http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=enable_js.htm
  4. As is this: Which serves the same function and is much easier to implement :) Edit, some resources: http://willmaster.com/possibilities/arc ... 8001.shtml http://www.jguru.com/faq/view.jsp?EID=280434
  5. I experience the same behaviour as D_V_Devnull, just try quoting his post and you'll see that all the img parts of his post are changed to url.
  6. Searching fo authors works fine for me, its the key word search that is annoyingly not up to scratch. Searching for 'combat' or 'combat AND calc' returns zero results :?
  7. Congrats to everyone who passed, I rememebr my results a few years ago :) :| What in the world are you gonna be studying at uni?
  8. Glad the TET events db finally got up more than 12 months after me and you started work on it eh? All the best Nate and keep in touch, don't be a stranger eh. Very touching comments about online friendships. Take Care.
  9. http://kcl.ac.uk/about/semester.html - Registration 18 to 22 September 2006. Scouser coming down to London eh? I start my final year of uni this October 3rd at Imperial College London. Working all summer though
  10. Thanks fshiu and darkrick, the script worked perfectly.
  11. Well I'm trying to get a PHP redirect script to work on a website, but its not very straight forward, and not being an expert in PHP I need some help. I'll try to explain by situation as best as I can: Basically the home page of my website (index.php) is including another page which contains the latest 2 news articles from a basic content management system (CMS). To add a piece of news I write the headline and the article in the CMS and click 'Post'. The first few words of the article are displayed on the home page with a link to the page displaying the rest of the article (article.php?id='article_number'). Here's my problem. I don't want the link to go to the page displaying the rest of the article (article.php?id='article_number'), I want it to go to a different page with a form to enter a competition (form.php) as this is what the news item is about. There is no way to change the link so I'm trying to redirect the user from the (article.php?id='article_number') page to the (form.php) I know that I cannot just add a simple PHP redirect script (like that below) into the place where I normally add the article: <?php header( 'Location: form.php' ) ; ?> as such a script needs to be placed above the tag of a page to work. I figure that the only way to make this work is to add the PHP redirect script above the tag of the (article.php) file itself, and only redirect the user if the URL is (article.php?id=25) as other news items (that use article.php) which I want to work normally will be redirected to (form.php) if no condition is placed, which I don't want. Not being very good at PHP I've come up with a novice attempt at an IF function that so far hasn't worked: <?php if ("Location = 'article.php?id=25'") { header("Location: 'form.php'"); } else { rest of the code in article.php... } ?> So I would appreciate any help from anyone who can correct my PHP redirect script with the IF function, or anyone that can suggest another way to solve my problem, through PHP, Javascript or anything else. Also please tell me if the explanation of my problem is not clear. Many thanks in advance.
  12. As I thought :D Interesting that Budhism and Judaism came second and third... :-k
  13. Just another reminder - I still get some PMs, of which I forward the coherent ones. Theres quite a few (7) on the website discussion board and four on the website updates/correction board by me.
  14. I wouldn't mind giving you a subdomain (ftp access) on my server if you like, just to help out yea :) PM me if you'd like to give it a try.
  15. Hrmpf  Lol joking, professionalism for the win :)
  16. I think avatars should stay as they are, dimensions and sizes. As for sigs, I'd personally opt for a maximum of 450 wide and 150 high. A nice 3:1 ratio. Not taller for the same reasons that everyone else has posted.
  17. Perhaps you'd like to elaborate on your suggestions with an explanation and reasons as to why they should be implemented?
  18. A link to the Tip.It page might get people to check it out :) http://tip.it/runescape/?page=atlas.htm Updates and Corrections topic of which I'm sure you are aware, plenty of things you can add to your list of updates from there: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=222520 Other things you can do to help: - Go around the perimeter of the Tip.It map and the official map comparing them to find missing recently added areas. - Go through the list of recently added quests, either via the Tip.It quest guides or via the quest news from the Runescape.com news feature, and make sure their icons are shown at their start locations. That's really what you can do, and then wait for user submitted corrections over time to see if there are other things to change :) *crawls back away into nothingness*
  19. Very tragic circumstances, I can not imagine what his family are going through. My thoughts are with them and all his friends. Talked to him here and there, but read many of his posts.
  20. Stay away from those evil PK boards :P Its not too bad here though. This article might be of interest though: http://www.tip.it/runescape/?times=27 And I had to edit and resize that pic for the sig size :) [img=http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/631/duntyplykdis1nc5nf.gif]
  21. Pur304 - don't even try to distort what Islam stands for. Have a read at Sunli's quote. I was at a recent event attended by 250 university students discussing peace in Islam and Christianity. There was a Muslim Ayatollah and an American Reverend presenting the case for both and it was a very enlightening discussion proving how much can be learnt via dialogue. As a Muslim, I can confidently say that ALL those verses and traditions you have quoted are out of context and do not imply the meaning that you think they imply. I am not saying that from my point of view, they were answered by the Muslim speaker at the event I attended who is very qualified to do so. You have to understand that not every person off the street can come and pick up a translation and think they know everything. Only certain people who have gone through years of study and learning know how to interpret holy texts, read:
  22. Point 1 - this guy is not a Muslim as indicated by the embolded word. Point 2 - That whole paragraph, and much the rest of his post is absolutely wrong and unjustifiable. Did you even read what I've posted earlier in this topic from my Islamic point of view?
  23. No, I am not suggesting taking away the right of freedom of speech. In fact I value this right having lived in the UK for most of my life. It seems very obvious to me that labelling a whole religion as terrorists does not need the "opinion-police" to decide that it would be a sensitive and offensive issue. Absolutely agreed. The friday protests (which is where all the above images are from) here in London were disgusting and I'd agree with the shadow home affairs minister here who suggested that they should all be prosecuted for incitement to violence and murder. I would put this, partially, down to the media coverage who often focus on extremists. They make a better story than the normal expected condemnations from us moderate Muslims (affectionately called M&M's in one blog I read, lol). However, I do agree with you that moderate Muslim leaders - political and religious - have been lacking in making their voices heard. Also, I highly doubt you'll be hearing calls for calm from the leaders of the middle eastern countries as its in their interest to divert attention to the west and from their failings in running their countries. ps - this blog discussion has quite an interesting and mostly cvilised discussion regarding the important issues surrounding this.
  24. This quote from Washington is quite a good summary of my opinion on the situation: As for the protests inciting violence, and the actual violent actions of protestors in the Middle East - of course those are way out of line and should not have happened. Peaceful protest, as happened here in London yesterday on Saturday, is the way to bring across our point Let's not judge the religion by the actions of the people eh? Yea, lets stereotype ALL of more than a billion Muslims around the world as terrorists and bombers and then class their reactions as 'overly sensitive'. There is the matter of being responsible when using our right of freedom of speech. The press already self-censors many topics that they would not dare deal with in the same way. Do you think we'd see cartoons pointing fun at issues such as child abuse, the holocaust and other sensitive topics?
