So.. if the RS Client hogs too much memory, I can use DGSweeper, make it do a shitload of work, to clear memory hogged by the RS Client? If there's a basic idea behind this, is there a way to use the principle in a standalone applet besides DGSweeper that triggers the cleaning as soon as a certain threshold gets used? If so: Very much interested.
-
Is that how I managed to get a screenshot of the normal gamescreen instead of the map in the DGsweeper mapwindow?
-
APM can't really be the issue, given he's also playing RSC whilst and training agility there.

75 is the requirement for steel ceremonial swords according to the page. (ingots IV), burial armour uses lower ingots.

One for a quick QBD-kill, cross that off the ToDo list for comp cape. Possibly one for getting done with branches of Darkmeyer, just not bothering with the difficulty (not even attempted it). Possibly one for kiln cape. (cross that off the Comp cape req list) Possibly one for Pest queen (lazyness while questing) Whichever of the last 3 doesn't get used => Nex kills.

As it looks, it's rather big. Are there any pro's to having the window shaped like that, rather then have a second frame adjacent to it? Multiple relevant tabs (as you have them in mind) could be present, but toggled with small icons on the right-hand side of the map. (ie: a vial for potion recipes, a question mark for riddles, the map boss icon for boss pointers if you'd implement those, ...) without hogging up too much space As for the potions tab: How will it work? Fastest way I could imagine would be having it display the skill icons. Click to select skill, if required input door lvl, and pot recipes returned like !pot now does. (assuming you want to put in a clickable version, which would avoid the agi/magic confusion). EDIT: both your current lay-out and my suggestion toggle the display. But with the more specific toggles, you'd need less height on the expanding area, thus covering less of the screen. It's the only significant advantage it has when expanded, though it takes a slight bit of extra space when 'compressed' to just map.

Threshold levels in general: maximums

It's not good to lock out beginner players either. Look at the massive amounts of content that high lvl'ed players already have. Are we catering to a fading elite, or nurturing a future that all levels can profit from and makes the game sustainable (i.e. allows new levels some breathing room)? 'a fading elite'... There's hardly an 'elite' left. Whereas at one point you had months where only 1 person could smith a certain item, there's now nothing as such. Whatever is around, thousands of people will be able to do it. The only fading part about it is that high levels become standard rather then elite. -
Err, thanks are due from my part for considering to actually implement it. Not sure where Meredith /grimy are at with the dps formula though.
-
And as I'm in a thinking mood: !puzzle XXX giving a box with a link to the DGS puzzle guide for the appropriate puzzle. Name recognition similar to skills for pots, if possible. If not, just !puzzle to link to guide in general. !boss with the standard 'boss pointers', ideally with a link to a matching yt vid. Those two are more towards a 'learning' target then a 'forgetful' target, but they shouldn't cause trouble for who prefers DGSweeper with its current features.

Hence me leaning towards style rather then weapon, less options. In addition, meredith has a point about the possibility of storing binds to limit the options given. Just need a list of the different monsters, and have mage/hex/slash/crush/stab in the correct order. Based on binds only the relevant top two of those could be displayed. Remains the issue of stat difference, being maxed I did forget about that. In addition to storing binds, one could also store stats in the same file. If there's an easy way to implement dps calculation for the different styles, the series listed above could be made player dependent. And I'm well aware it's not an easy task, but could be a usefull addition.
-
Another idea, for people learning (or forgetting all the time  ): !style npc.lvl. commands. Could work just like the !pot command (but with npc name instead of skill) and their combat lvl (as for some npc's it's a difference?). Return would ideally be the best two options to use (like: Hex > Crush, CSB > Slash, ...) is a box style thingy like the potion recipes. There's some stuff I just keep forgetting, and while in a floor I can't really waste the time to bother opening a browser to look it up.

I didn't say it's bad. Hence my suggestion. Chats can be flooded at times, but if it's actual chat that's ok with me. If it's just a bot making it impossible for me to actually keep track of a conversation, it no longer is ok. There's so many of them, it takes quite a while to ignore them all. Also, as for the argument of not going to G.E.: Are you mad? It's not like I hang around there there all the time, but not going there for such a reason would be plain silly. The fact it attracted crowds is why the gamblers/gold advertisers are there in the first place, not the other way around.
-
Just a thought - what if we had one themed world where gambling is allowed, and advertising gambling be forbidden on all others. Hosts and betters will find eachother, and it'll unclog 150+ worlds Grand Exchange's from the hosting adverts? Similar to high risk PvP worlds or Roleplaying worlds, there could be a clear message that any and all bets are at own risk, and Jagex will never undo any trades due to cases of scamming.
-
Heh. Given Jagex's track record so far, I'm inclined to think it's the latter. But I hope it's the former. Most likely a way to chose your color. That'd be the smart thing anyways but RU_Insane hit the nail on the head. That's brilliant. So simple, yet effective. On the first few days however the junkload of people that don't check for the contents of updates will get scammed massively.

Threshold levels in general: maximums

Why would you want to reduce high-level content to low-level content? -
As for people being able to camp certain places to avoid other people getting it: Harder if you cannot get food at those places. Also, what about a small twist to the concept: You have 10 lives before you are perma-dead and restart with a stat/bank wipe?

Ran into same issue last night, but didn't get around to solving it that way, as floor had already started. I'll try it later on :)

Old, uncommon, or outdated training methods
vmser replied to HappyNooblet's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I did what you mentioned most of the time. I had issues with the general store guy wandering and running out of symbols there though. I believe my friend might've botted this looking back on it (no way he clicked this fast), but he got super high xp from doing wheat (nothing I could reproduce). Maybe there was some sort of bug with wheat picking at some point. I know nothing about bird cage's xp, being f2p the whole time of classic. Regardless the most productive thing might've been high alching the symbols/ platebodies stuck in one's bank :) Used to be a 1 second rule or so in between casts. You could time that pretty close actually, but a bot would indeed exceed it by far in efficiency. -
I remember you... and a few of the rest of you, too. Now there's a familiar face. If you'd be playing again, add me please :)
-
It also takes from other games such as travian/tribalwars which host limited time speed version worlds.
-
It'd be neat if we could have our banks value in G.P. at the current GE prices displayed in bank somehow...
-
Seems like more of a limited time thing to me: Have a server up for a month only Have x5 exp rates (or some other factor, just an example) Worldwide PvP but single combat => no 'safe' training spots, might have to be creative. No G.E, so no bulk resources to be bought (i.e. d bones). Would only be a small niche, but hey.. RSC is still around.

Squeal of Fortune "Updates" was: Spin Results (970 spins)
vmser replied to NukeMarine's topic in General Discussion
Im actually surprised 10% doesn't use it. Could understand die hard refusal to buy spins, but passing out of freebies.. meh. It'd be interesting to see how many players have bought spins, and how many spins on average they bought. -
Zezima pretty much invented the concept of acception donations to reach a goal. How do you think he got 99 smithing, what it all started with for him? As for zarfot: as ingenious as it was, having a clever way with the trade system hardly justifies it as a greater achievement. Having people convinced of your greatness to actually give it to you with no effort.. Could just as well revert your entire perspective.

Did you know you can steal hunter bots traps? If you see them walking to a spot to set up a trap, try lighting a fire there at the same time. If your fire is lit before trap is set, I'll cause them to drop the trap (similar to trying to light a fire when then trap appear first). Pick it up when it appears. Steal enough traps and you'll break the bot.
