The Rest of the band.
Yann Tiersen - composed all the music for Am̮̩̉̉lie, and played most of it himself (the guy plays lots of instruments). Very awesome, imo. While I play the piano myself, I wouldn't be able to name any pop pianists/keyboard players which stand out to me... While Chris Martin (Coldplay), Tim Rice-Oxley (Keane), Scott Underwood (Train) and Michael Andrews (quiet version of 'Mad World' (Donnie Darko)) all play the piano quite well, there's nobody who's stood out to me yet as being an extraordinary piano player. Except maybe the people who are actually in the picture as playing piano (Alicia Keys, Jamie Cullum, etc. etc.). As for the rest of the band... I can't really judge them. Don't know any other instrument well enough to be able to judge people who play it.

Random Java Array/Boolean Question

Yet another config
How much did this set you back? Seeing as I'm looking into getting something similar at the end of this month, when I'll start uni. If you're spending lots of money anyway (*gasp* at the graphics card  ), why not an AMD 3500 instead of a 3000? Apparently AMD is lowering prices again, seeing as they have their new Dual Core 3800 out...

Is there is a way to add music to a sig?
You can't use it here, and you'd better be happy about it. Imagine having 15 different songs play at the same time, just because everybody thinks it's fun to have them in their sig... And even just one, I doubt you'd enjoy me having the Carmina Burana in my sig, would you? :)

Anti Steriotypes
Misspelled topics are hardly ever interesting. Being a long-time visitor of OT should have taught you as much.

Truth, an absolute?
F/N = Fair 'nuff. We tell them they are wrong because they violate the constitution put together and accepted by a democratic majority of the people in today's society. In other words, opinion of many > opinion of one. And I know what you meant by love ;).

best looking websites?
http://www.csszengarden.com/ <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> /p> "http://www.w3.org/TR/2005/REC-RNT-20050805/DTD/rnt01.dtd"> Keiphus: obviously, this doesn't fall under the category 'eyepopping' effects, but it certainly shows that an (X)HTML / CSS design can be gorgeous as well (note that it picks a random style when you first visit the site, you may not like that one. Pick another one from the list (can't tell you where that is, it changes place depending on the style ;) ) Also, I suppose none of you ever considered the fact that blind / visibly impaired people have no use whatsoever for flash sites? Nor do people who are on a company network and don't have the permissions (Operating System-wise) to install the latest flash plugin into their browser. Nor do people who are on a platform for which there's no such thing as a flash plugin. Nor do people who prefer to use a screenreader, or a text-only browser. I could go on, but I guess I might better link to this FAQ, or this article, or this index. Sigh. Oh, and how many of your designs use pixels, points or centimeters, Keiphus? You do realise that these will mess up badly when people start resizing text? (Something all major browsers support, though not with Flash, of course...) Okay, I'd better stop here, or I'd go insane. Either way, it's very possible to use standards and still get a decent design (as proved by the css zen garden). Use some javascript if you want to create interactivity or fancy effects, or consider using SVG or other open standards for visualising designs and 2d/3d images.

Truth, an absolute?
While saying that there's an absolute truth in morals, and everybody who does not assume the same morals as you is blatantly wrong is downright arrogant (no matter how many 'IMO' you insert into it). I really can't see why you call my opinion 'shallow', but even if you have any arguments for that, I'll be shallow instead of arrogant, thank you very much. Not everyone who assumes the same morals as me - I believe that it is absolutely true that morals are God's character. You conform to God's character, you conform to correct morals. I don't claim to know these, but I certainly devote a huge part of my life to discovering and adhering to these. I don't think I claimed that my morals were correct - if I did, I misspoke. F/N, I guess. Did you ever consider that you may find the wrong morals? Or that people who do not believe in God might 'accidentally' follow the right morals? :) More like trying to make everyone equal, instead of someone being 'right' and someone being 'wrong', which is exactly the basis on which you would be able to love everyone equally (see your own 3rd paragraph). I think I might actually agree on that one. :) Arrogance is, by definition, putting yourself on a pedestal, ie, thinking you or your opinions are better than (those of) others. This means that loving everyone (including yourself!) equally is not possible if you're arrogant, since that'd mean you love yourself more than others.

Truth, an absolute?
It's your opinion, it's their opinion. If it's an opinion, how can it be absolute? Of course not, it's subjective, as is everything else. After all, you disagree with me, don't you?

Windows Vista - Beta 1 Out!! See Page 2
Of course there will. Hell, there's already 32 and 64 bit versions of XP, so they'd be silly to use just one. Personally, I feel Vista is just XP + lots of 'stealing' or, more friendly 'copying', or 'borrowing' from Mac OS X (widget look, better search, yada yada) and Mozilla (XAML et al.)

Javascript Skill Calculator Problem
[*:1n63omqp]Get rid of the silly for loop to try to figure out which skill is used - you already know that since you separated them [*:1n63omqp]Get rid of the subsequent checks if the skill number is correct. [*:1n63omqp]Alternatively, use if (skill == 5) instead of 4, since the for loop does i+1 ;)

System Idle Process
Maybe the harddrive is making the noise? The being slower would indicate your HD is having problems - try defragmenting it and checking it for errors (both things can be done with standard software which came with your windows install)

Laptop or Desktop question
I'm looking at the same problem myself, minus the having a decent desktop, so I think I'll have a desktop in the end. The problem is, if you want a high-end laptop, it will generally heat up unbelievably (small case, lots of hot equipment, fast processor, good GPU, etc. etc.). So you'll have to make a choice, I guess. Search around on this board, there have been previous discussions of the merits and objections of/to gaming laptops.

Airplane Crashes at Toronto's Pearson International Airport
As for 'why did they let the plane land' - if it had been higher up in the sky when it was hit by lightning, things would have been a lot worse. Amazing that everyone made it out okay :)

Awww...how cute
The eyes seem a bit off to me, but that may just be the perspective tricking me... Otherwise, very nice :-)

I need some computer Veterans opinions
Don't get a Dell. Period. Go to CompUSA and ask them if you should get a Dell. They will laugh very hard. I saw it happen last week to a customer. :? That's like asking Bush if I should vote Democrat. Not really a good argument. I'm with BMW - there's nothing inherently wrong with Dell computers if you can't afford to look for all the components yourself (and put it together yourself). They have decent CS and a warranty, which you might not get (not at all on the total system, but probably some on specific parts) / void if you put everything together yourself. Admittedly, the prices of Dell are a bit higher than buying everything separately and building your own box, maybe even a bit higher than going to a local store like compUSA. However, their service and reputation makes up for that - when you buy a Dell, you also buy (somewhat) the guarantee that stuff will Just Work .

Network Problems (in a way)
They are forwarded, but first thing anyone looking up my IP encounters is the modem.... and it filters everything out basically -.- Ah... and there's no way whatsoever to configure your modem? The fact that it asks for a username and password when connected to on port 80 seems to indicate there is :)
-
Network Problems (in a way)
Well yeah, you have a router, you need to forward ports from your router (which is the first thing anyone looking up your IP from the internet encounters) to your pc. You do this using the telnet or web interface of your router, like I explained in the first reply you received on this thread...

XBL help..
One of the funniest bugs in the entire mozilla bug database As to your problem, I'm afraid I don't understand what you're trying to say.

DOODLE!!!
That is very awesome, very awesome indeed.

Network Problems (in a way)
Usually, port 80 is used for your router's web interface (most of them have one). I've never tried to change that (I run apache on this machine), I just run my webserver, can access it locally using localhost, and can forward a port from my router to port 80 on my computer. This would mean that others would be accessing my server using something like: http://56.56.56.56:8090/ (so with a port number included). And yeah, obviously that's not the port I use nor my real IP address ;) I don't know if your router will allow you to do NAT routing to re-route port 80, but I'm guessing that even if it would, you'd need the username and password for it, which you say you don't have... :?

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (SPOILERS WITHIN)
The white mans? If by that you mean the ENGLISH dictionary... And no, "sonned" is not an english word so just give it up. It might be a word in another language, but it is not an English word and this board's primary language is english. It does appear in the urban dictionary, so it does occur in slang. Still means it's not normal English, though (won't be in the Oxford dictionary I'd guess).

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (SPOILERS WITHIN)
Way to leave us hanging then :? Hasn't she finished all of the books though? How come it would take her more than a year just to publish a book? Umm, because she hasn't finished all the books yet? She still needs to write book 7, and she even said that she will have to make some (minor) changes to the last chapter (which is the only chapter she has written so far, and she wrote that a loooong time ago already :) )
