Killing Floor - Co-op Survival Horror
The funniest thing is that Dead Space was not a unique game at all. Instead it simply grabbed bits and pieces from great survival horror games, added in a great twist (shooting off limbs) and made an amazing game. And please, I was just comparing artistic styles since they seem to be such an importance to you. I was trying to tell you that both of the games look pretty much exactly alike. what?

New stuff. - new!
What plugin does it require? Textures are really easy to do in terragen, just make sure you read up and understand parent/child relationships and the rest is all just theory more than anything.

Killing Floor - Co-op Survival Horror
It was a UT2004 mod, the hell did you expect? I understand that, 'tis why I didn't go on saying other bad things about the game before i actually try it ^^ And seeing as another company just used the engine to make the game, you'd think they'd try to make it different? Like let's take Gears of war for example. Doesn't look anything like Unreal Tournament but both use the same engine? (Same engine, maybe different versions). So i mean, the company that made Killing Floor, could have at least tried to make it a bit more different ^^ Are you high? Gears of war was made using the unreal 3 engine. Lets do a comparison. [hide=Gears of War][/hide] [hide=Unreal Tournement 3][/hide] lolwut? If the game started as an unreal tournament 2004 mod it will look a lot like, gasp, unreal tournament 2004.

Mortal Online
e: Bumping this up due to a free Open beta that is open now. Downloading it as we speak, I'll give my opinions on it tomorrow. http://www.mortalonline.com/content/open-beta Imagine all of the ideas in your head for the perfect MMORPG. Done yet? Perhaps this looks something like it: Mortal Online [hide=Large image][/hide] uar2HH4X-D4 [1] The biggest selling points of the game are: * As an introduction, here is what the Mortal Online team says their game is not: "There are no levels, no experience points, no starting classes, no quests, no 3rd person view, no NPCs with big exclamation marks over their heads, no global chat channels, no flashing numbers when you hit something, no respawning bosses, no instances, no pocketable mounts, no virtual restrictions for where you can go or not, no auto-loot, no predestined player path where it turns out you're The Chosen One, no automated auction house, no auto-respawn, no NPCs you "can't attack", no bears that drop gold coins or dragons that drop swords, and no loot bags impossible for other players to open." I think they've made their point. * The combat features no targeting and requires you to aim your melee slashes, ranged projectiles and shield blocks manually. Enemies have hitboxes over different parts of their bodies, and attacking certain areas can have an additional effect (e.g. hitting an arm might make them drop their weapon). The view is first-person. * Full loot PvP. If you kill someone you can take all their stuff. If you steal, or kill a player that is flagged as innocent (an idea that is not elaborated on in the presentation) you may be flagged as a murderer and hunted by city guards. * Although there's no leveling, skills can be improved through repeated use. However, skills that are used in PvP have a cap on them so that it is mostly about skill and not playing time. * There are primary skills, like Swordmanship, and secondary skills which are a subset of the primaries. Only primary skills will have much of an impact on PvP. * Every item in the game can be crafted. If you find an item, you can "reverse-engineer" it to work out how it would be crafted, and then do so. * Player Housing will be similar to Star Wars Galaxies, in that the world is empty to begin with and will fill with houses as people create them. In other words, a building is unique, and is only there because someone built it; they are not reusable instance portals that any number of people use as their home. * You can mix your race within your species. For example, just as people in our world could have a Chinese father and a German mother, your Mortal Online character can combine any two races and these choices will affect appearance as well as attributes. * Mounts can not simply be unsummoned. They can wander off or be stolen if you don't watch them, and they can also be used in combat. * Seamless continents with no zoning. Navigation won't be easy at first, as there is no radar and mapmaking is actually a craft to be mastered. * Bosses won't respawn, and members of the Mortal Online team can assume the role of any important NPC to provide unique events. Mortal online, in a nutshell, is the game darkfall should have been. The differences are already very clear if you watch the video -- mortal online is backed by a much more stable and professional company and it's already showing. Now I know that there will be a lot of discussion about this MMORPG because, quite honestly, it's a lot different than what one would expect. You need to look at it with an open mind and try to not attach any stigmas or ideas from games such as World of Warcraft to it as it is a different beast all together. Unlike darkfall Mortal Online is a game to keep your eye on big time, one that even in early beta testing is showing much more promise and polish than darkfall. So thoughts?

School Plans on Buying Netbooks for its Students, Help
Key word : Netbook. Sounds like a cool idea, netbooks are amazing tools. Just be glad your school has enough money to do this at all, not sure why you'd complain about it. :|

Our first kill we didn't even bother shooting people up there. World first isn't exactly something to be amazed of.

PLEASE LOCK!
All of your signatures and art are publicly available on the web. I think I'll go take them and throw some brushes on top and call it my own. Christ, it's like you guy's have never heard about copyright laws at all. There are numerous images out there that are stock photos, designed to be used by others. The use of a "render" in your signature is a crutch. It is an easy way to create an appealing focal point instead of the artist having to do that themselves. Creating your own work is so much more satisfying than just churning out signature after signature. I learned photoshop and most of the time I did not use "renders". I will admit there were some moments where I have had a brief stint in using them (mostly as requests for another forum) but over my 7+ years I maybe used "renders" for a year of that time. I mean, hell, feel free to use stock 3D renders if you want and aren't adept enough to create them yourself in a 3D software. Between 3D stock renders and my own that I made in Cinema 4D back in the day I managed to learn just fine. The thing is too is that times have changed. 5 years ago you'd pretty much get flamed out of the gallery for throwing a "render" (god I hate how that term is used by people) into a signature without trying, or even just slapping brushes that you didn't make onto a canvas. It certainly has changed but I still think that learning art without any of these crutches helps out in the long run for the artist. it's not about if it is hurting anyone or not, it's about having some integrity as an artist and respect for those who made those video game characters or whatever you choose to use as a "render". People tend to whine when they see someone rip an image yet are perfectly content with destroying an amazing wallpaper for their own purposes. It's a silly double standard.

scariest game
I'm sure I've already said this but I don't really like playing a game I had played years and years ago. Like I said before Bioshock is System Shock 2, just set in a different setting (not as scary I must add). They both quite honestly share the exact same plot twists, except that System Shock 2 happened much earlier. [hide=]What I mean by this is that in System Shock 2 you find out half way through that the person who was helping you actually was SHODAN, the main "villain" of the game. It's the same thing as the twist they used in Bioshock. The one thing I did like about bioshock, as I said before, was the entire bit questioning why we as gamers do just as we are told. I thought it was a great thing to put in the game[/hide] Speaking of System Shock 2 though, now man that game was scary.

I'm having a hard time sticking to one UI as of recently. My new one is a slightly modified version of eUI by Aeesha, mostly just me making it more PvP and arena friendly. I really like it so far though.

PLEASE LOCK!
So if I steal your signature, put a bunch of filters and brushes all over it and consider it my own would you really see it as a "tribute". These people aren't tributing anything, they're taking something good and then taking a dump over it.

PLEASE LOCK!
Why does it matter? I mean, if I steal someones artwork over dA or even here they aren't going to sue me. Does that make it alright to do so? Using pictures of video game characters in signatures is amateurish and an insult to good artists such as those who made the characters. It is one of my pet peeves to see someone just slap a good image onto a filter pile or, even worse, just a bunch of brushes (that the user also did not make) and then call it their own work. Really, it's just an insult.

I've heard that Jesu's later albums can't really hold up to Jesu and Silver but I haven't tried them out yet. Nothing can top Silver in my book though. (And good quote in your sig. )

Nvlddmkm.sys crash and artifacts during bootup
We already bought a new one. (9800GTX+) It's a 3 year old card and it came with a prebuilt machine (dell). I highly doubt it was still under warranty in any way. Either way problem is fixed now and this thread can be closed.

Duke Nukem Never? *Gameplay Footage*
God I hope so, and no better way to put it either. This is sad news though. 3D Realms was the [cabbage] back in the day. I do hope duke is still getting worked on though. :(

Nvlddmkm.sys crash and artifacts during bootup
Sadly we don't have a spare card and I use a laptop now. At this point I'm like 95% sure the card is pretty much dead so he is just gonna get a new one.

Nvlddmkm.sys crash and artifacts during bootup
First of all this is about my roomates PC, not mine. The problem I've narrowed down to his NVIDIA 8800GTX 768Mb video card. What happened is that he crashed during the middle of a game (WoW). When he booted back up he was not only treated to a BSOD (0x0008086) and a message that his "Nvlddmkm.sys" has crashed but also was having artifacts on the screen. (To be exact blue lines running vertically along the monitor). I've read up o the Nvlddmkm.sys issue and it seems fairly widespread with Vista users. The thing is his video card is 3 years old and I'm starting to think that it may just be kicking the bucket (especially with artifacts showing up in BIOS). I should also add on that the artifacts in bios are various random characters all over the screen, very odd. I've uninstalled the drivers from safe mode and that does allow him into a normal boot up. However the issue continues once he has to restart with fresh drivers installed (that are auto updated when he boots in). Also during all of this there are still artifacts on the screen (Blue lines and then the random characters in BIOs) Is his card completely gone or is there any way to save it? I think he is probably going to end up getting a new one anyways but is there anything we could do to have it live for a bit longer? He's doing an adaware/malware scan right now (doubt it will help but w/e) and I'm still trying to find topics about the issue.
