  1. I like Damnation best. Many people would disagree with me though.. (Woo for my post count) I'll check it out when I can. Not too sure I'm that impressed with this album so far... only on the first half of it though so we'll see.
  2. Opeth's My Arm, Your Hearse. Same question, what do you guys think is their best album? This was the highest rated on Encyclopedia Metal.
  3. I have to agree that the degrading weapons were an annoyance, but like I said I ended up focusing more on melee because of that and saving weapons for the enemies that I needed it for. With the Crystal shard and almost maxed out "Exotic" I kicked [wagon] :P. The character models and such never bothered me. Of course there are mods these days that change them so =P. Same thing for the degrading/respawn. And either way I was more focused on the story. Anyways I did check out wiki for some more info and got a lot of what I wanted :P. Also, Bioshock really isn't on the same level as System shock 2. Gameplay wise I'd say its better but the story isn't as good.
  4. Man, why did I wait almost 10 years to play this game? I remember playing the demo of it when it came out, enjoyed it, but never actually got the game. Well after countless trial and error I got it to work on my XP machine, and as of today I beat it. God damn, I am convinced that SHODAN is the best villain ever now. From a gameplay perspective the choices you could make towards your character were great. I, myself, went a bit of a melee person and then near the end got a bunch of psi stuff to help heal me. Now I'm mostly comparing this game to half life (released around the same time) and I still do think that half life beats SS2 in terms of gameplay. Of course, that isn't what this game is about, now is it? The story in System Shock 2 is top notch and certainly is one of the best I've been a part of in an FPS, hell almost any game. [hide=Spoilers possibly]SHODAN... man. I'm kind of sad they reused the whole surprise element for Bioshock because SS2 did it so much better. I got a chill down my spine, and this is playing a 10 year old game, when I first actually met shodan. Everything it says has it believing that it is better than you. Than the ship. Than the many. I have to say that for a bit I was conflicted. On one hand, I knew that SHODAN was ultimately evil. On the other hand however the many were killing off all of the humans. The problem is that The Many, even for an alien race that is mostly based off of parasites, seemed almost... well... almost good. All they wanted to do is protect their young, and to prosper. This had a negative influence on the humans and had to be stopped, but man. Of course The Many were creppy as hell too. The thing that caught me off guard is that during the entire time Xerxes and "the many" refer themselves as the collective, as one entity. What I didn't know until the end is that this was actually true, the many was literally "one" with each other. As one of the PDA messages put it "They are actually one... working together not as individuals but as certain organs of a body". It's a little fuzzy after that, but what I got from some of the messages is that SHODAN actually created "The Many" in order to only fuel her image as being a being of ultimate power or, well, a god. There really is nothing more evil than a being creating life only to lead a puppet through to kill it, and of course help it along the way. I am wondering if I have missed much from not playing System Shock 1, however. I know SHODAN apparently came into existance because of a hacker?[/hide] I think thats about it. Is there anywhere where I could find more information about the games backstory? SHODAN is the first character in a game since the G-Man to really intrigue me. Anyways I know a lot of people love Bioshock here and, trust me, Bioshock is a spec compared to what SS2 is.
  5. Considering that you're just out of high school, that's pretty much impossible. I've made about $3,500 this summer alone working full time @ $10/h. I probably could have made close to $4,000 too but I had a lot of shorter days or off days.
  6. The NDA is lifted as of today. Warhammeralliance seems to be a good site to check out screenshots, videos, ect. of the game in action. Sounds like people are pretty happy with the game. There are a few disgruntled DAoC vets (the guys who hate everything WoW stands for) that badmouth it, and a few guys who want a sandbox that badmouth it but it's certainly getting overwhelmingly positive stuff said about it. Oh and WARDataBase for all your needs. Don't think its finished yet but has a lot of class skills and such on there so you can check them out.
  7. Death Metal (this one does bend genres a bit at times, but still.) Power Metal | Drone (Sped up!) Industrial (with a hint of drone) Folk Metal Grunge (would you guys consider this kind of grunge a sub genre of metal?) Heavy Metal There is a small tidbit of some of the various genres. Pretty much said you should be able to tell the difference quite easily between these, and you'll see why sub genres are needed.
  8. Pretty good idea actually. You'd be best to have it last a few weeks though, the gallery could use some good tutorials. Just putting it out there... but what if the person who won got a custom title or something? I think an incentive to get a ton of tutorials out there is a good idea.
  9. Thanks. Probably not going to have anything posted for about a week because I need to get packed up tomorrow. Well, unless I squeeze in a new render today. It is suprising how much more fun this is now that I'm starting to get the hang of it. Still going to stick with tutorials for a little more until I venture on my own though.
  10. FFXI was optimized to take advantage of the 360. WoW is not. Also, with WoW, you have to run it AND linux not to mention run it through wine which will be even slower.
  11. I agree, I just have a hard time taking this seriously. I mean, really, banning emo music? :P And I mean, how can they even manage that? Don't they know there is a thing called the internet? Are they going to do random emo search raids or something? :S lol
  12. Heh dude, Metalacolypse is so much more than just a really brutal show :P. The " [blank] movies" can't hold a candle to its humor. :P
  13. go back too your family sweat shop damn japenise kids.... Jalapeno kids? Woah there. SPICY! :?
  14. Yeah I guess I always put them closer to a mix of death / viking myself. Speaking of Viking metal, Bathory ftw  . Hammerheart and Nordlands I + II are [bleep]ing brilliant albums.
  15. Awesome links  . I was actually thinking of doing the first two before you posted them. :D
  16. You consider Amon Amarth Melo death?
  17. Looks like he has a pretty big head there, champ.
  18. I can confirm that Zelda I + II for the NES work, Zelda III: Link to the Past for the SNES works perfectly and obviously the Zeldas for gameboy should work flawlessly as well.
  19. 5) Vray Tutorial. 8/19/08 Learned the basics of Vray rendering here. There really is no modeling here, I used default shapes. I'm really excited to start using Vray for all of my renders.
  20. Dark Moor's The hall of the older dreams What would you guys say is their best album?
  21. It's Kaphias, of course he was serious :P Speaking of macs I had the hardest time figuring out how to do some simple [cabbage] on there, just depends on what you were raised on.
  22. Yeah windows is cake compared to doing stuff through DOS. Of course I remember my dad setting up a menu in it so I could get to my games -- didn't stop me from looking around the rest of the DOS prompt though. Hell, even windows 3.1 was more complicated than XP or Vista. You can turn that off. :) To the original question, no, I don't think they're too complicated. They've gone leaps and bounds away from how difficult they used to be to use. That being said compatability will always be an issue that we can't really avoid, just because of how computers change. I spent a few hours the other day getting System Shock 2 to work because it didn't like XP / My video card, for example. For normal every day stuff however they are easy.
  23. Better graphics wouldn't be the right word, I find a lot of the DS games to be looking better than PSP. Purely a matter of artistic style though. The PSP certainly has more power behind it though. More games? A quick look at www.gamerankings.com actually shows both the DS and PSP to have plenty of strong titles (45+ at 80% or higher rating) and it really is a matter of personal preference to which you enjoy. Surfing the web is actually a possibility on the DS with a flash cart, fairly limited however. And finally I've played movies on a flash cart. They aren't as high quality but it is possible. Like I said though I enjoy the DS more, I've had a chance to use both. The only reason I would get a PSP is for homebrew reasons.
  24. The lite is like $10 more. Also if you're going to buy the games, please, don't buy used games. The money goes to the store instead of developers and you only save like $5.
