  1. I was bored so I did a mock up of what I think the stats screen will look like once summoning has been introduced: (Ignore the value for Total XP I just typed in a bunch of random numbers :P)
  2. We know that the familiar models look great from all the pictures that have been posted everywhere. I don't think the graphics will be a bad point in the skill.
  3. Or you could pay for features like this which is probably the point?
  4. Java isn't limiting the graphical capability! JAGeX's decision to use their own software renderer is. If they added more lighting and effects RuneScape would run at an unplayable rate. I agree with caldius. The client updates required for summoning have probably been released steadily over time so that when the skill is released there is less lag when downloading the client.
  5. Considering there's 3 pages of discussion on this I would say it's fairly discuss-able :P Interesting information you have there. I don't play much but I'm looking forward to this skill to see how it all works.
  6. If you're referring to the 3D Model images then they were extracted from the RuneScape cache (A file that contains all the images, model, sounds etc. used in the game) and viewed using a RuneScape model viewer.
  7. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6KT4iX8ogFM A live Zero Punctuation style "review" on Christmas
  8. This update seems pretty good. I went and had a look around. My initial reaction on seeing the place was just "Woah". It's impressive.
  9. The fact RuneScape is written in Java has no bearing on the graphical quality of the game in any way. The reason the graphics are sub-standard compared to other games out on the market is down to the fact that Jagex are keeping the clients total size down. They say you can fit the whole client, models, image everything on to one floppy disc. This is necessary to keep RuneScape downloading quickly and running smoothly with it's software renderer. They're using a software renderer to make RuneScape as compatible as possible with all sorts of computers. Stop blaming the language for the graphics. Couldn't. Couldn't care less. Saying "I really could care less" means that you do care somewhat which I doubt was the point you were trying to make. 10. Yeah they said they were giving the Skills interface a revamp overall so I'm guessing the new icons are just the beginning.
  11. I have no items of any worth to give away so I think I would keep them.
  12. I have to agree there. I don't think they would get quite so excited over a new skill.
  13. I don't see why the server would lag any more. It's not as if it has to transmit much more information. It's just the player moving slightly faster with an extra model.
  14. Or maybe they're planning on filling them with new things? Could be part of this HUUUGE update they talked about in the BTS.
  15. No. There is no way that all the skills in RuneScape would be applicable to MechScape. It might not even have the same sort of skill system for all we know. MechScape is the rumored new game being developed by JAGeX. it's supposedly set in the distant future in the same place as RuneScape.
  16. "I THINK I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Know!? The meaning of life? How to fly to mars using only a spoon and a dustbin lid? Anyhow that is a good idea. I hadn't thought of that. But they have said they're going to be leaving hints throughout the week. Who knows?
  17. If you're going to make a statement like that you should really give some reasoning...
  18. Firstly the fact that it's written in Java has nothing to do with it using only the CPU. It's just JAGeX opted to write their own software renderer as opposed to using hardware supported APIs. Second to whoever said that it's taking an idea from WoW do you really think that WoW is THE only MMORPG to have implemented mounts like horses? Thirdly horses are a stupid idea, as someone has already said, there are already plenty of ways to get around.
  19. All that option does is open the Report Abuse screen with the name already filled in. Just a bit timesaving. They wouldn't remove the 60 second limit for all players. That's for Player Moderators/Jagex Moderators only.
  20. That's it, rub it in why not? :D EDIT: Notice they have changed it back now so it was obviously accidental therefore you can expect no such update for all players.
  21. It's a good update but it has one major fault... ...they've run out of button space at the bottom! :ohnoes:
  22. Both JMods and Player Moderatos have that option. It would be rpetty hard to actually report someone accidentally. All clicking that option does is bring up the Report Abuse form with the players name already filled in.
  23. Yes, seeing as the Knowledge Base is written by Jagex moderators they obviously use their JMod accounts to get the screenshots which will include the Report Abuse option because Player Moderators and Jagex Moderators get that option.
  24. Woah you've replied to almost every thread on the page!
