  2. MOAR HEXES Congratulations dude. You know getting a hex is a binding contract to become a ranked keyer right? ;)
  3. Yeah, I think GD works well for those sorts of things. It'd just be nice to be rid of the clutter. :P
  4. The problem with General Discussion has always been that discussions of gameplay and metagame are always immediately buried under the multitudes of botting/morality/recent updates/etc topics. On top of that, it still welcomes people to post ridiculously nonconstructive nonsense. The problem with Debate Club is much the same as above. I agree that Debate Club was better for metagame discussion than General Discussion is now, but it was still polluted with the same topics as General Discussion - only the author would state the topic in such a way that it could be considered a debate ("JAGEX NEEDS TO STOP BOTTERS" as opposed to "IS BOTTING BAD?"). A metagaming forum is absolutely necessary at this point.
  5. We've never really had a problem with Tipiters not reading the thread. :P
  6. Maybe I should've been more clear: I'm happy with the outcome of this whole thing because the administration has chosen to help foster a metagamer's community, which is exactly what we wanted. And I love unicorns. I even had one as my avatar for a few days.
  7. Wanted to be appreciated, or immature because he didn't get his own way? Yes...some posts giving insight, most others not. Just because he's given one positive, doesn't mean the 10 negatives are wiped. Don't be silly. If I was the Admins I would have put a stop to their kids game months ago and not let them think they have some hold on the community because of some information they have compiled, I would have sooner told them where to go -- and in a manner that's not so friendly. You've hinted at the big issue - what do you want Tip.it to be? If you want Tip.it to be a gamer's forum then letting the big contributors go is seriously detrimental to that goal. If you want Tip.it to be a community for unicorns, people like me aren't needed here. Considering that this is inherently a gamer's forum, moving it away from such doesn't really make sense and will hurt Tip.it in the future when newer players seek out knowledge and guides and it just can't deliver. I'm sure those players will love Tip.it if they need to rant about bots, but they won't stick around for anything beyond that. Not that it matters - the admins have made their decision. It was messy, yes, but everyone wins in the end because of what happened (unless you're a unicorn).
  8. Yes he disappointed me too.. Why remove a guide for such a dramaqueen who is only in it for recognition? Knowlenge should be shared, and not be limited by 1 person's emotions! I agree that knowledge should be shared. However, somethings were necessary in order to bring about the changes needed. In any case, the guide is not gone, it's just in a different place. For now.
  9. That makes some of this week's events even more disappointing :\ Depends on what events you're referring to. Keep in mind that a lot of things that happened had nothing to do with us, even if it was under our flag, so to speak.
  10. Of our group of friends, most of us are in college. Just sayin'.
  11. Yang, I am sorry. :( I hope this cheers you up. Just imagine that it's me:
  12. Hey everyone, so this is probably the weirdest thing we've done to prevent RSOFers/117ers, but we added a little message in the guidelines on the DGS page. Anyone who reads the guidelines will definitely notice it and remember it: "But the bestest bind ever is a primal pick. <- This is a phraseology check so that when prompted you can prove that you've read the guidelines." Is it sly and underhanded? Yes it is. But we want to prevent these people from infecting DGS teams as much as possible. I've already kicked the same person twice today for not reading the guidelines (first time he admitted it, second time I asked him the bind question HOURS after I threw it in there, and he didn't know it). We're not going to kick people right away, mind you. We'll establish first whether or not they're Tip.iters, and as always, if you've been wrongly kicked, message one of us on TIF and I'll hero key a floor for you. ;) Hopefully this is okay with everyone - if you have any suggestions for more effective ways to deal with RSOFers, I'm all ears. Beware the fleshy tentacles, Jimi / Obt BUT ASIDE FROM ALL THAT, Jmmy is our newest wingdude and official clan empress. ;) EDIT: But I'm not sure how Rykudo, our official clan princess, will feel about this.
  13. Did you come up with this concept through personal experience and memories? The artisan-workshop affair sounds like a personal experience to me. I agree, ignorance is in general something that will hurt the community. However, research can only get you so far. For example, suppose a new update has just been released, such as a new boss monster. Sure, you could go to the KB, look some some of the information there, but in general there is no replacement for actually going to the boss, trying out different methods, and finding out what works best. Personal experience is, in fact, a very specific type of research. Personal experience is key to defining each person's core being, and the difference between people is what generates their different opinions, ideas, and concepts. These items are some of the core foundations behind any successful community. There's no point to a community where every being is the same. Are personal experiences enough to justify a full-fledged argument? No. However, research, personal experiences, and the combination thereof are the backbone of many concepts and strategies that we use today. The point Koaala is trying to make is that unverified, unrecorded personal experience is not sufficient evidence to base an argument on. Yeah, you collect data through personal experience, but if you don't record that data it's pretty useless. I couldn't honestly tell you how much mining experience I can get per hour because I've never recorded it. Using Sy's type of "personal experience" I could probably guess somewhere in the range of 100k per hour, but that's really not sufficient and I would never post that type of data or information in H&A. TDs, on the other hand, I have personal experience backed by data and hours of testing. I would feel perfectly comfortable offering my advice there. Just to clarify - I agree with you, but I think you're confused about what Koaala's trying to argue.
  14. >out of spite. Blatant misunderstanding of the situation. Not that it matters anymore now that we're getting along and everything's been worked out.
  15. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF- Do we have a new Bro Pal?!
  16. Bladewing, unlike you, was not crew. Pretty simple. As far as I'm concerned, you sold your soul to Tip.it whereas Bladewing was just a poster. Again, you don't know the whole story and I don't expect you to understand. This discussion is humorously pointless, again, considering that Cowman seems to disagree with you. EDIT: Oh, and Bladewing's guide is still available to anyone who wants to use it. It's just not on Tip.it.
  17. Okay, maybe I need to further clarify what I meant in my first reply: the amount of work required to comply with such a request must be taken into account. In the case of an AOW guide, the amount of work is trivial; in the case of a crew member asking for multitudes of tiny little data entries and various guides to be removed, the amount of work is staggering. I have other things to say, but I really can't be bothered to type up an essay when this problem has already been resolved. This isn't an issue of legal rights - it's an issue of ethics. Finally, your last comment just shows me that you really don't understand the situation, and I'm in no mood to explain something that can be found in multiple places around these forums and Grimy's forums.
  18. I lol'd Greg kept asking me if I needed help and i was just like "NAH MAN I GOT THIS" *dead*
  19. Just normal rooms with the worst possible combinations of monsters.
  20. JUST PICK UP RUNES LIKE A GOOD DPSER SHOULD      stolen battle mage so many times by just picking up bloods + airs from drops. And maging stuff in dead-ends amirite. ;)
  21. WARPED ROWS ARE GONNA SUCK FOREVER NOW.
  22. My sentiments exactly. :( So tonight was the first time in three days that I've been able to sit down and just 'Scape. The clan updates introduced a lot of problems that probably could've been avoided had we not switched over to a clan chat rather than just stayed a friend chat. I really like some of the tools we have because of it, though, and I think there's definitely more of a sense of pride in our community - there's almost always a DGS vexilium in Daemonheim and a few people wearing the capes (those awful, awful neck-brace capes...). Anyway, I spent about three or four hours adding stuff to the guidelines the other night to help cope with the influx of randoms we've been getting, plus trying to manage the DGS page on the main site. And, of course . . . the hurricane-level [cabbage]storm . . . don't even wanna get into that and all of the work/stress caused by it . . . Anyway, tonight started off okay, but the second floor I keyed decided to be one of the worst floors I've ever had. There was this one room that was pure, unabashed, unlubricated rape, surrounded by four other rooms of equal amounts of rape. It was not fun. I died eight times in that room just trying to open doors. Then we got Hope and Eric nearly killed me while I was blocking - and he did it on purpose. It was funny, but only because I didn't die a ninth time. ;) Yeah, eight deaths - and it was a 29 minute floor. If I had been able to get through that rape room without dying so many times, it probably would've been a 25 minute floor or less. Needless to say, I quit at the end instead of finishing the floor. Anyway, Nick keyed after that but the floors weren't much nicer to me. I got 114 about two floors later than I should have, but that's what I get for recklessly dying so much. I've noticed that I never, ever ask for food when I key. Most keyers do multiple times. Not me. I just don't particularly care about experience now that I have my primal 2h. It's more fun for me to go for faster floor times than to worry about dying. Tnt, Eric, and Matt wrote alternative lyrics to that Friday song - the lyrics are themed around DGS. Apparently I'm supposed to sing an acoustic version of it. Don't count on it. ;)
  23. That would depend on how realistic the request is, as I've implied. My apologies if that was unclear.
  24. Be realistic - this is a single guide; there would be no trolling trawling of databases and such. It would literally take all of three clicks to delete it and everyone could be on their merry way. I'd advise you to not compare a realistic request to an unrealistic one and use the theoretical outcome of the unrealistic one as a crux for your argument. Either way, I can't see this incident happening again so long as Cowman remains admin/head of crew.
