Well of course everything dealing with God is theoretical. One may argue that just because there's no proof, doesn't mean it doesn;t exist (not saying it does, but that's kind of irrelevant). However, while you may not have to believe in God to lead a good life, you do to have a good afterlife, whether it truly exists or not. Kind of the same idea there. God may not have been a, "cruel dictator", but from what I understand he was a rather ruthless guy. Some of Stalin;s political adversaries were lucky; some were deported or banished. In most countries political dissidents like that would be arrested. And as for the Holodomor: nothing was ever proven, and it could have been caused naturally.
