There's a stereotypical Harry Potter reader? Would that be people of all ages, race, nationality, social upbringing and whatever other differences I cant think for right now? If you don't fall into the 'stereotypical Harry Potter reader' you've got to be a mutant or something. :P As for the evil Dumbledore theory... I had never really thought of it before, but it seems reasonable. I remember that quote in the fourth book striking me as odd too, and another one I can remember from the fifth one is when Ron is speculating Snape's loyalty to the Order. Hermoine says something along the lines of: "Dumbledore trusts him, and if we can't trust Dumbledore, we can't trust anyone." Seems like a bit of a hint anyway. I truly hope he doesn't end up evil. I like him too much. :(
