  1. My counter argument is simple. Monster drops, especially static drops such as coins, will severely decrease in value. Seeing as these are some creatures' featured drop, this could be quite a problem, and lead to less people hunting them. Also, as previously mentioned, it will be less profitable to alch, but it's always been that way... Not many monsters are hunted soley for their coin drops. Infact the highest coin drop by a monster is around 20K from a GWD boss. Now if your talking about coinshare drops then with the prices of those items rising it balances out with their gp being worth less. The reason 26king boomed is due to the introduction of statues which made pvp trick a steady 1m+/hr for most high level players. Sure summer helped increase 26kers but before statues it was around 500k/hr and that was if you got lucky.
  2. Still looks like it's crashing to me :-k
  3. There are other worlds to train on, so yes it's totally fair that you want to train one way even if some random guy doesn't like it.
  4. A little red transparent box shows around the item in the trade screen if they can't wield it or wear it....... #-o. But then again, depending how nice they are about it I would probably give the money back.
  5. Yeah thats a good idea, but theres quite afew people who make accounts just to have a cool name then they never train it. Its pretty stupid in my opinion but they would probably make alot of people upset. I think you have a good idea though, Just might have to have different requirements like how long its been since they registered and if the account hasnt made it past any exp at all I think it should be deleted. Delete all accounts that have yet to log onto tutorial island (or maybe even not completed) and have been inactive for over a year sounds good to me.
  6. Death potential...it's amazing. Well, 110m lost has to count towards something. : Wait 110m? Thought it was an SGS what else did you lose with it
  7. I never once said it isn't bad I stated it wasn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be. I also gave solid facts to support my argument. No players shouldn't be punished for holding large sums of cash, but they should be prepared for economic changes that can arise in an economy going through a lot of changes (i.e ge, pvp removal, and pvp's comeback). If you can give solid information about why inflation is as bad as you make it sound then I welcome it. Inflation is not ruining Runescape, it is merly raising prices and if your mining something like coal you will not be harmed as your logs are rising too. As I said in my article(which it looks to me like you didn't read very well) the only people hurt are people with large sums of stangant cash who are mainly price manipulators and merchants. You may not be able to buy as much of the item but considering the price is higher it will rise more per GE update than it used to. Infact this may even be better and more profit for them. If you can give some counter arguments of why inflation is ruining Runescape's economy then please do so as I enjoy a course of rhetoric every so often. On a side note, I do trick for brawlers as they make training skills like hunter and agility much easier. The money is nice but if I got brawlers every kill instead of statues I would not care. Many of my friends and people in Panic Patrol know this.
  8. They would have to be activated at the register I would imagine.
  9. I was able to sell a couple at medium prices late today, seems to be stabilizing. Btw, what's your net worth if you don't mind me asking? They are selling for 300k or so under min atm so they are falling but not hard. As for my net worth I have no clue, I've never pc'd my bank nor do I intend to anytime soon. So your guess is as good as mine ;)
  10. First off.....don't quote the troll #-o Dragon fullhelms are crashing but not hard. Edit: Thanks tripsis all that guy does is troll this thread,
  11. I assume it's fine now?
  12. Mining has been the same for years and I think it should stay that way. It allows for competition, which is healthy and creates the best prices. If it became like woodcutting it was just be a lot of people piling one rune rock which could give 1-30 ores per respawn. Not a very good idea imo.
  13. Your friend is invisible :o [/hide] is the lvl 45 wilderness supposed to be at the top? It's always been up there for me :?
  14. Just a heads up to everyone, Mod Tiley is a costumer support mod and they tend not to know everything that is going on at Jagex updates wise. Costumer Support mods have been wrong many times in the past and could be wrong now.
  15. Third age is dead, now it's time for spirit shields to die :
  16. A lot of items updated this GE update. Partyhats are up(blue rose 2.9m) and 3rd age melee plate updated signifying that it's buyable now so the drop is soon.
  17. Spot the glitch Jagex has some serious counting issues: If your wondering about my pro welfare it's because this one target always cheats on DDS dm's so I tb him and annoy him until he safes or logs out.
  18. Ewwww Wal-Mart Seems like Jagex is tyring hard to make it easier to be a member. Isn't this the 3rd or 4th announcement of this type this summer?
  19. Andrew responded a few times on his post here is one: The homepage is wrong :P
  20. I'd like to know where you got the 65000 hours of alching number? Is that for one person? What if the person does magic longs instead of yew longs? Basically explain all your figures to me before I can give a response. Yeah, I left out some key details there. Oops. The 65000 hours was the approximate result from dividing my 40 billion approximation by 768, the alch price for yew longbows. There's really no way for me to justify using yew longs. Some more expensive and less expensive things are alched. Even setting the average value of alched items at 1200 (steel platebody), you generate more cash from 26king than from alching. Above steel plates, only a few items can be alched for a reasonable loss. Battlestaves, for one, but those still have a heavy GE limit. Rune meds and chains are commonly alched, but not nearly enough to make a serious dent (they result in heavy losses if you buy to alch, and high-level slayers only occasionally alch their rune item stocks). No matter what numbers you use, 26king is a serious problem. It may amount to 65000 hours of alching but a large amount of people alch daily. But yes I agree with your last statement but the problem has been blown out of proportion. This article was started way before andrew made that post. I did try to update it, but left that line in by oversight. If it's a little device that shows a unique login every 6-8 seconds and does not need to be plugged in to your machine in any way, that's great, but I know lots of people will never be able to type in a new unseen password in 8 seconds. Imagine having to look at your password everytime you switch a server...That would be a real pain in the [wagon]. It shows a new code every minute not 6-8 seconds ;). But yes it would be a major pain in the rear :|
  21. Why do you think so? Its in wilderness and not as much charms You get the same amount of charms, level 5 wilderness is really nothing to worry about, and it's single combat so no one can steal your demons. Ill bet you 2 cookies that there are more charms in chaos tunnels You're on. The demons in the chaos tunnel drop significantly more charms than those found elsewhere. They can hit up to around 16 damage so bring your best food if you intend to fight them without protection prayers. Jagex fixed that the patch notes awhile ago. EDIT: Here it is... [hide=Feburary 25th 2009]Miscellaneous Weve changed the way player stock prices are calculated at the TzHaar shops because a small number of people were taking advantage of the fact that TzHaar have little conception of how much human adventurers value gold. Obviously, we prefer fair trade, and the TzHaar should now be able avoid a recession. Quick Chat options were missing silver and gold bars in the Smithing section, this has been rectified. What looked like an extra space has been removed from the bartering section of Quick Chat. Black candles are no longer visible in the player stock for the candle seller as they are untradeable. The Mining skill guide has had missing information added to the previously blank section. A few interfaces are now more compatible with the French game. The mystic steam staff has been added to the Attack skill guide. The delay when eating Karambwan and its effects has been reduced. Scorpius will now bless any unholy symbols you have in one go and Brother Jered will do the same for holy symbols. There are several various types of black demon and these should all drop charms. Increased the gargoyles clickable area to make them a bit easier to attack. The mystic steam staff has had its wield requirements fixed to the intended 40 Attack and 40 Magic. The skeletal mages under Baxtorian Waterfall will now retaliate against players and have also learned a few new tricks! When building items in your house with a sacred clay hammer, sometimes you would not be given the correct experience. The tiny elf crystal now has an Enchant-x option. The reset time for collecting pineapples and seaweed from Arhein will no longer slowly creep forward. A missing apostrophe has been found and added back to the Cooking Tutors chat. Free players can no longer be given leather coifs as a task from Cadmus, the Crafting Tutor in Lumbridge. Some mouse-over text on the Player Creation interface was incorrect. The scrollbars used throughout the game have had their code improved and a bug has been fixed which would stop you dragging some scrollbars under certain circumstances. All familiars will now disappear properly when their timers run out. Some of the stairs in Brimhaven Dungeon had broken and the temporary fix has now been replaced with some working stairs. Yew and magic trees are no longer listed as logs on the in-game Farming skill guide. Stealing Creation items are now listed as members-only on the in-game skill guides. A missing hyphen has been put back in one of the Quick Chat trade phrases. Friend login/out messages no longer have a Add Friend option obviously, theyre already your friends! The Mourning's Ends quest was spelt incorrectly in the Runecrafting in-game skill guide. You can now talk to Cornelius when he is behind his bank booth in Burgh de Rott. A spelling error in the unlock hint for the music track Technology has been fixed. Fletching while your cannon is firing does not work you should now receive a message about this when you try. The phrase My Slayer level is: ... no longer appears twice in a Quick Chat search. The Mage Arena bank is now single-way combat to resolve a confusing bug on PvP worlds. Some lucky TzHaar now carry onyx bolt tips; some lucky adventurers might 'find' them on the ground after a particularly 'vigorous' 'disagreement' with them. Fixed a few more typos in various places.[/hide] Off of the archives of patch notes-Quick find code: 13-14-604-58266335 Page 1 Post 6.
  22. Demand doesn't increase due to inflation. If you are trying to fit into a supply and demand scheme, then you have it backwards. The supply of gp is increasing dramatically which is decreasing the value of it. If the market was suddenly flooded with yew logs, what would happen to the price? It would go down, making the value less in relation to other commodities. In other words, you would be getting less for your yew logs. Inflation would be just the reverse opposite. If the market is flooded with a greater supply of gp, then the value of gp goes down. You get less for your gp. There was a joke about Argentina in the 1980s when inflation collapsed their economy. It was, "the good news is everyone is a millionaire; the bad news is a cup of coffee costs a million dollars now." That cup of coffee didn't [bleep]e in price because of demand. It had nothing to do with it. It was because their money became worthless. You've explained this concept to a point, but I don't understand the link to demand. It's supply of gp, not demand for an item, and not both. As far as is it all bad, I think slight inflation is inevitable in MMOs, but steep inflation can create a volatile economy. The PvP artifacts are counterproductive to some of the money sinks they had put into the game. It is both though. I don't see how you think it's not demand. All the people tricking have more money to play with now and if 1000 of those people tricking can now afford a bandos chestplate and they buy it, the demand increases. They wouldn't have had the money that quickly if they hadn't tricked for the GP so there wouldn't have been that demand before. Gp is being worth less but the people tricking are getting more of it. The ones that are buying items with it and not spending it on skills increase the demand for that certain item. Basically....if more people are buying an item that they couldn't afford before they are increasing demand, I did not find that hard to understand. The economy started balancing right off the bat. When big items like the Bandos Chestplate rose so did yew logs. Not to mention items have already started dropping. Furthermore the main reason that most items dropped was because they were taken out of the PvP drop tables and heavily manipulated by price manipulators. For 26king to make upwards of 1m/hr you have to be over 110 combat and you have to have a decent amount of luck. Gathering for money is mainly done by lower levels who can't profit greatly from the 26k trick. This is the reason I wrote this article, to address all the misconception that goes around the recent inflation. He wrote the article before Andrew's response was posted and I guess he never changed it. I'm afraid there isn't much you can do besides stare at your pretty cash pile. The reason I addressed that was to point out that these are the only people being hurt and most of the time if someone has over 100M cash they intend to buy some 99's or are saving for something, so it doesn't effect as many people as many think.
  23. The recent price rises where caused by your GP being worth less and the demand for certain items rising. When pvp is taken out of the game they will stop their steady rise and should steadily go back down as more and more are put into the game everyday. I'd like to know where you got the 65000 hours of alching number? Is that for one person? What if the person does magic longs instead of yew longs? Basically explain all your figures to me before I can give a response. Buying out stocks of items is not realy linked to inflation, that is price manipulation and thats a whole nother issue. As a matter of fact I have noticed less 26kers now, most likely linked to the release of MA. I do feel however that I addressed most of your points in my article.
