DotA - Defense of the Ancients
I thought we were still waiting for .55 to come out? I played the beta and liked it OK, and that was just a week ago... I'm just starting to get into DotA. Favourite hero atm is Pudge, one of my friends who plays him a lot is teaching me how to use him well, and I managed my first dominating spree ever a couple weeks ago (I was so proud - I know, noob rite? XD) I think I'll end up owning with him with some more practice. Other favourite heroes: Riki (Stealth Assassin), Lina Inverse (Slayer), Gondar (Bounty Hunter), and... those are all I can think of right now.

Ohh... I'm not going to be home Saturday... *depression* Oh well. I'll read it Monday. Can't wait to hear what you have to say, Trap. Especially not after all that hype... You jerk. Got me all excited.

World economical crisis and RS
I don't think it'll have any effect at all, unless we honestly go into a full-blown, no-holds-barred depression, and I don't think that's uber-likely at the moment. A recession would barely affect TB@JT at all, because being a private company, they don't have stocks, as said. Therefore, it's only if we all completely bomb out and can't afford anything at all that we would be forced to give up RS in the droves necessary to drown Jagex.

Kalphite, you and I share ridiculously similar music tastes. Anyways, I'm going to throw symphonic power metal in instead of power, because Nightwish own. Kthxbai. XD

I just read through the mangled, bloodied bits of what's left... and now I'm sad because there's no more. I SO hope trihylian finds them soon... or at least even gets the message.

Brisingr!
It was... entertaining. I'm not going to say it was good, because it wasn't a spectacular book. It was poorly written, and wow plagiarism, apparently. But even if it was predictable, full of fantasy cliches, slightly overwrought vocabulary-wise, and etc, it was still fun to read. I liked Brisingr a LOT more than I liked Eldest, though, for sure. Eldest was pretty crappy. And Eragon was middling at best. Uhm... Meant to say something else, now I forgot. Bloody hell. I'll get back to you.

Good classic rock/pop, anyone?
Classic pop, tho. ABBA anyone? XD But wow, can't believe I forgot Queen. Spectacular band.

Good classic rock/pop, anyone?
Dire Straits are a pretty sweet old band. One of my favourites for sure. Mark Knopfler (lead guitar/vocals) can make a Stratocaster do things that nobody else ever dreamt. Also, The Who are great classic rock. They ARE classic rock. Another one of my favourites (more recent, but still awesome) are Foo Fighters. Fantastic hard rock band. Hmmm... who else? Let's see... Aerosmith, as well. Not one of my favourites, but they're great for me every once in a while. I only have one of their albums, unfortunately, but they're pretty cool. I'll go dig up some links to my favourites.

Gig Amps
Thing is, I don't need a stack. A combo will do perfectly fine for what I need to do and can see myself needing to do for the next few years. Especially if it's a 120W 2x12. I think that can handle my playing fine, so I'm out to get best value for my money in that range.

I wouldn't say universally. The Spiders have INTENSELY polarized opinions around them. Many people are absolutely in love with them, and then there are a few who hate them with a burning passion. Like, in the most extreme senses of the words. I'm going to have to try one out when I get into the music shop next... see for myself. I'll also take a look at the VKs, I've heard good things about them too.

Slayer is not good anymore
I think slayer's still worth it in the enjoyment factor alone. It's not half as monotonous as any other form of training, and the excitement of getting one of those nice drops is an added bonus. Game statistics? Screw that. The enjoyment is what matters to me.

Life plans/dreams after grade 12?
I'm planning on basically... a good chunk of education. My first goal is going to be to pursue refereeing hockey to the highest level I can, because that can get me through university (at least!) and hopefully far beyond that. However, I'll be going to university for architecture, because it's very possible refereeing won't work out, and I'll end up working preferably out of home as an architect. I want to work out of home because I hate cities with a burning passion - I'm a small-town kid, grown up never being in a town larger than 1000 people.

Recommend an artist/band to the poster above you
I'm on the bandwagon, thanks to Intriguing. Check them out =)

Recommend an artist/band to the poster above you
Intriguing, gonna throw something a little odd at you. Try listening to Cake. They're certainly not metal, like I know you usually listen to, but you've shown some pretty weird tastes in the past, so... They're tons of fun, basically. Their lyrics are genius, and they're the focus of most of the songs, with some solid backing instruments that don't really stand out supermuch. But they're a hell of a lot of fun to listen to, and definitely recommended for anyone that listens to music intelligently.

The Hot Rod Deluxe sounds sexy as hell in that video =) I listened to some of the other demo videos on YouTube, and it seemed like most people use it to play bluesier music rather than hard rock. Even the salesman wasn't enthusiastic about the hard rock capabilities, and if I remember correctly, the video you gave me had to use pedals to get the metal sound he got out of it. It's certainly a good possibility, but I'm looking for something that can get a little crunchier, probably. EDIT: Another hour or so of searching later, and I've homed in on Line 6, specifically the Spider line. I like the looks of it. Here's the one I'm looking at right now: Line 6 Spider III 150 2x12 Combo. So far reading reviews I've seen a lot of great reviews and a few that didn't like it in an extreme way. It seems like there's no middle ground with this amp. It's looking good to me - this is going to be one of the ones I check out when I go into the music store in the next couple weeks.

Realized I hadn't told my price range. Thanks guys =) I'm thinking a combo amp is probably in my range. I'm looking at about $600, but I've got no qualms about buying used amps. I do want a tube amp, not solid state, but if there are any spectacular ss amps out there for my price range, I'm interested. I'm not playing large gigs - school auditorium kind of things, and others that size or smaller. I play hard rock/metal.

Gig Amps
I'm in the market for a new amp for my guitar. I need something that is usable onstage (as in, loud). I play hard rock bordering on metal, and unfortunately, I haven't the foggiest where to start when I'm amp shopping. I figured I'd start somewhere where people could give me a few clues as to what I'm looking for. So, any ideas? EDIT: After a couple hours of shopping, I'm at the moment checking out an Ibanez TB100R Tone Blaster 100W 2x12, but it's solid state and I've been hearing bad things about SS compared to all-tube amps. Any thoughts?

~~ The Smashing Pumpkins ~~
Nice one, Sib, finally got it stickied =) Assassin, are you going to take down the Ayreon one that had all the posts before the rollback that all got deleted? Depressing, I know, now it's postless =( I liked that one too.

Dream Theater
The only thing I disagree is that they're a better prog band than Rush. Rush are my favourite band, but DT just OWN. My favourite is the Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory album - 77 minutes of pure, unadulterated beautiful music wound into one story that flows amazingly well from song to song. Fantastic band. Fantastic in every possible way.

Is mage too expensive?
Mage is absolutely worth it. Sure, it costs a bundle, but it makes up for it in sheer awesomeness, to be honest. Ancienting rock lobsters is one of the most enjoyable and efficient experiences I have ever had the fortune to be a part of. You get ~150xp per cast, and huge amounts of summoning charms. I leveled from 30-59 summoning there, gaining 70-77 magic as well, in less than a week. And that's only one application of mage. It's absolutely worth it.

Canadian Election Thread!
I'm Green Party, personally, even though I'm too young to vote. But honestly, that decision's mostly superficial. I'd need a little more interest to delve deeper.
